Yes, children.... build back badder is dead as we know it

The left is in denial and are choosing to believe rumors over what has been stated

There are several stages of grief, denial is a big part of that one. Not more than one day after Joe Manchin went on Fox News and declared that he is a no on the build back better deal, the left was out with story after story about how Manchin has promised Biden (behind the scenes) that he will come back to the negotiations after the holidays. These stories were coming out at the same time Manchin was publicly explaining his opposition to the bill.

But even these stories admit to things that I am not sure many people really understand. The most important admission being that Joe Manchin will not support any bill that looks to sunset or phase in benefits while paying for them for the entire 10 years. In other words, if you have a ten year bill with new spending and new revenues, then he wants all of the new benefits (spending) to be funded for the full ten years just as all of the new revenue streams will be in place for ten years. The logic would be that if you decide to expand the benefits, then you must also expand the revenue that pay for them... in a new bill.

The problem is that most of the most popular portions of the bbb bill are either phased in or sunsetted out. The reason being is that they are way too expensive to actually put ten years of their cost into this bill. I would offer than most of the most popular parts of this bill, would have to be dropped to satisfy any requirement like that. But progressives would be loath to remove popular programs like the child tax credit (which they insist has dropped child poverty by half) and other popular spending programs because it gives them something to run on.

But that child tax credit is literally only factored into the bill for a one year extension. This of course serves the purpose of being in place next year, so that Democrats can campaign on it (and even make the extension an issue in the election). I mean how many people do not want free money? But it cannot be paid for if they expand it. Not even two years, much less ten. Other measures that would be probably very popular and give Democrats an issue to campaign on are also extremely expensive and are simply not affordable for ten years.

The parts of the program that could be saved are those that are less expensive and can be judged and scored over the full ten years. These are also not the programs that are going to excite anyone that matters. These would be the same tired old "climate change" and "equity funding" issues that might appeal to the Party base, but not get anyone else excited.

More to the point, at a time when the American public is soured on the Democrats largely because they no longer believe that they have their priorities in mind, spending a couple trillion dollars on liberal progressive social issues would be as tone deaf as tone deaf could be. They would be helpless against attacks that they care very little about fixing inflation, or the economy, or addressing the concerns that most Americans currently have.

So... is there a chance that something could be pieced together and that Democrats could still call it the build back better deal? Sure. I find it unlikely that they would choose to spend 2 trillion dollars on things that won't help either the country or their election prospects. But by the same token, I wouldn't put it past them. They are, after all, the Joe Biden captained Democratic Party.

While unlikely, don't doubt their desire to piss away $2 TRILLION. They are THAT stupid and corrupt, Slow Joe really DOES fancy himself the next FDR, and the most radical among them refuse to give up the mantle of Cloward-Piven.

Like a cornered and caged animal, they are capable of just about anything, no matter how absurd it appears to us sane individuals.

Look at Schumer. Just stupid and arrogant enough to publicly opine his desire to hold an official BBB vote, just to humiliate Manchin. He has Manchin to thank for being in the majority (with Cum-Allah) and he's willing to risk that most tenuous situation just to throw a tantrum.

Leftism is a mental illness. No question in my mind.

The Wall Street Journal reports that completely destroyed your argument.

Democrats have started sketching out a narrower package that they hope would meet Mr. Manchin’s demands by selecting a smaller number of programs to fund for the long term. Mr. Manchin said in the radio interview that he supported rolling back elements of the 2017 tax law and empowering the government to negotiate the price of a range of prescription drugs, two efforts that another centrist, Sen. Kyrsten Sinem
who criticized Mr. Manchin in a fiery statement on Sunday, declined to offer more details on the failed talks between Mr. Manchin and Mr. Biden. She repeatedly referred to Mr. Biden and Mr. Manchin as longtime friends during a Monday briefing with reporters, adding that the administration is going to “work like hell” to pass the legislation. She said the statement Sunday was a “factual depiction of events that happened.”

Other Democrats who have started working on a revised package have proposed extending the expanded child tax credit, the ACA subsidies and climate programs, with some rallying around the expanded child tax credit.

Asked on Monday if he would still be open to a reworked or smaller piece of legislation, Mr. Manchin said the party should put the provisions through a committee process to decide on next steps.

“Don’t you think maybe a committee should put eyes on it, have hearings where the public can see what the differences may be between Democrats or between Democrats and Republicans? That’s what hearings are for. And then make the decision,” Mr. Manchin said.

A narrower package may face resistance from some progressive Democrats, though. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D., Wash.), chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus who spoke to Mr. Manchin on Monday morning, said Democrats should move on from the negotiations with him rather than settle for a smaller package.

She also criticized Mr. Manchin, saying he had gone back on his pledge to Mr. Biden to support the Build Back Better plan.

“We cannot hang the futures of millions of Americans on the words of one man who represents a state that has a tiny percentage of the country’s entire population,” she said.

The Democrats’ plan to pay for President Biden’s $3.5 trillion Build Back Better initiative will need to strike the right balance to appeal to progressives without alienating moderates.

Other Democrats cautioned colleagues not to burn their bridges with Mr. Manchin.

“We need his vote. So all those who are throwing fire at him do so at our collective peril,” said Rep. Dean Phillips (D., Minn.) on CNN. “We have to sit down in January, you know, clear our heads and hearts a little bit. There is a path forward.”

-----

The White House alienated him before he appeared Fox news.

But since then he has said it is not dead yet because the President has been negotiating with his allies.

The plan he is going to talk about today, is going to help his approval rating among the middle class voters who hate waiting in long lines to get tested.

In January they will get test kits in their mail boxes and they can send them back and not pay their insurance coverage.

Plus no shutdowns!

It will get down to $1.7 trillion

I really hope Schumer does what he said

Voting for that would effectively end the Senate careers of 4 or 5 Democrats. Biggest gift to America and the Republicans we could have wished for !

Voting against for Dems may create a permanent fissure within the Dem party

win/win

Progressives can be mad about this, but the fact is that $1.75 trillion in spending without phase-out gimmicks is better on the merits than what House leadership put together. Manchin is not ruining anything by pointing this out. He is making life harder for his colleagues in the sense that they will have to pick winners and losers.

But it’s much better to do six good programs than to half-ass a dozen of them. And the reality is that $1.75 trillion is a lot of money; you can do a lot of good stuff for $1.75 trillion.

The BBB bill will be cut some things but it will repeal the tax cuts by Trump and the deficit will approach zero like it did under Bill Clinton era.

Because he actually cares about his constituents, not just his personal feelings, he will listen to them.

Business)Senator Joe Manchin is facing calls from a powerful group close to his heart to reconsider his opposition to the Build Back Better Act: Coal miners.

A day after the West Virginia Democrat appeared to kill Build Back Better, America's largest coal mining union put out a statement lauding the legislation's provisions and pushing Manchin to take a do-over.

"We are disappointed that the bill will not pass," Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America, said in the statement on Monday. "We urge Senator Manchin to revisit his opposition to this legislation and work with his colleagues to pass something that will help keep coal miners working, and have a meaningful impact on our members, their families and their communities."

The 131-year-old UMWA called out several items that it believes are crucial to its members and communities, including extending the fee paid by coal companies to fund benefits received by victims of black lung.

"But now that fee will be cut in half, further shifting the burden of paying these benefits away from the coal companies and on to taxpayers," Roberts said.

Another benefit in Build Back Better cited by the UMWA: tax incentives to encourage manufacturers to build facilities in coalfields, employing thousands of coal miners who are out of work.

Sleepy Joe Biden will not call for additional lockdowns or stay-at-home orders.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Sleepy Joe Biden has a plan to save millions of lives, in every state.

Here’s what we know and don’t know about his speech, which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., and how his plan will work.

Will the president call for lockdowns? No. The White House is adamant that there is no need for lockdowns at this point.

Will the president advise Americans to forego holiday gatherings? That depends. Officials say that the president will tell people that they should feel “comfortable” gathering with family if everyone is vaccinated and follow public health protocols like masking and testing if they are exposed to someone with Covid-19. He will remind those who are unvaccinated that they are at high risk, and encourage people to get their shots and booster doses if they are eligible. Boosters increase protection against the Omicron variant.

How will people get their free rapid tests? The administration says it will buy 500 million rapid tests to deliver free, beginning in January, via a website where people can request tests and have them sent to their homes. (Britain, where tests are cheaper and more plentiful, already has such a site.) But White House officials concede the particulars of their plan aren’t fully developed. They have not said whether there would be a limit on the number of tests, or exactly how — via the Postal Service? FedEx? United Parcel Service? — they will be shipped.

Will 500 million tests be enough? Experts have projected there would be roughly 250 million at-home tests available in January. It is unclear whether the new supply of 500 million additional tests will be available right away, or if the administration expects to supply 500 million tests per month. Assuming that supply in January doubles, it would still mean there are fewer than two tests for every American for the entire month.

How will the White House scale up supply? Administration officials say Mr. Biden will continue to invoke the Defense Production Act, the Korean War-era law that gives the president broad powers, largely through executive order, to direct private companies to prioritize orders from the federal government. The administration has already been using the law to scale up test production, officials say, and did so again as recently as last week to ensure that two test manufacturers have the raw materials they needed.

How and where will the military be deployed? Mr. Biden will instruct his defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, to ready 1,000 military doctors, nurses, paramedics and other health professionals to help overburdened hospitals. There are no plans yet to send those troops to specific locations; they will be at the ready in case they are needed, officials say.

Where will the new testing sites be, how many will there be, and when will they open? The exact number of new testing sites is unknown. The administration plans to start with several new sites in New York City that officials say will be open by Christmas.

Where will the new vaccination sites be and when will they open? FEMA is standing up new pop-up vaccination clinics across the country. This includes a new mobile unit in Washington, and four new mobile units across New Mexico that are opening Tuesday, according to a fact sheet distributed by the White House.

Where will the federal vaccinators be sent? Unclear. Administration officials say they will be deployed across 12 states, tribes and territories, and will “help enable thousands” of additional vaccine appointments. The states, tribes and territories were not named.

The new omicron variant that is causing renewed panic among government officials and media could turn out to be "a Christmas present," says the inventor of the mRNA technology behind the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. Robert W. Malone, in a video interview Monday with WND, explained that while the original SARS-CoV-2 virus settled in the lungs, a new University of Hong Kong study that is still

'Hubris'
Malone also commented on the new release of emails showing that outgoing National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins asked White House coronavirus adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci to carry out a "quick and devastating published takedown" of the Great Barrington Declaration in the fall of 2020.

Collins told Fauci the declaration came from three "fringe" epidemiologists, meaning Dr. Martin Kulldorf of Harvard, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford and Dr. Sunetra Gupta of Oxford.

Malone told WND the email showed the "hubris" of Collins, who doesn't have the training and experience in epidemiology that the three scholars possess.

"We have now clear, clear evidence of collusion by senior government officials to suppress scientific discussion and debate about one of the most crucial issues that we’ve addressed over the last two years, which is whether or not lockdowns make sense," Malone said. "And the data are overwhelming. They don't."

And, he continued, "the worst part is the rest of the world looks to the U.S. for leadership."

"There’s a good chance that Australia wouldn't be in this hellhole that they are now in if Francis Collins hadn't substituted his opinions for actually looking at the data," Malone said.

He pointed to a meta-analysis of long-term data showing the lockdowns result "in more death than if you just let the virus rip."

If you bothered to read what I wrote, Roger... you would see that there isn't much disagreement. I also offered that they might write a completely different bill and still just call it "build back better" even though it's not what they really want.

I think it is stupid, and my guess is that the journalist published by the WSJ might even agree. That journalist even went a step further by suggesting that progressives will have issues giving up things and may choose to not negotiate.

President* Turnip Mash will be reading words written for him by Obama's staff about covid. People wonder if he will be announcing new federally-enforced shutdowns, or sticking with his Covid coordinator's "we're not shutting down for the sake of the unvaccinated, the unvaccinated shall wither and die, as is just and good, amen, Satan" statement from Thursday.

This is probably going to be about eighty minutes late as they put the finishing touches on his dexedrine drip and simplify the teleprompter script down to a second grade level. They might be experimenting with eye-drops to make his pupils less dilated.

It's creepy how huge and black his pupils are. In movies that's code for "taken over by a demon or alien."

How can his pupils be so huge when he's staring into powerful klieg lights?

Oh never mind, I'm sure he's not on powerful drugs, he's totally healthy, don't ask any questions. Only subversives and QAnon Terrorists ask questions.

Let's go Brandon.

I guess treat this as an Open Thread for the first hour of Brandon's lateness.

Keys to Brandon's Speech:

Soft whispering for emphasis. This is one of those "power moves" mentioned in power play books that is supposed to put you in a commanding position by making people crane forward to hear you. Of course this imbecile thinks this works.

Squinty whispering to project toughness and resolve. This comes off as sad and tryhard.

Random shoutiness to project seriousness and command. He's started doing this recently. He thinks it makes him sound passionate. It actually makes him sound unmedicated.

"Mark my words."

Finger-pointing (both metaphorical and literal). Many will be blamed for Biden's failures. While the speech is about covid, expect an allusion to Manchin's "betrayal" on Build Back Bolshevik. And expect literal finger-pointing, which Brandon thinks makes him look tough and commanding. Pointiness = Leadership.

Meaningless gibberish slurred with angry (feigned) conviction.

Coughing. Very reassuring.

"Omicrom." An honorific for the god that Conan worshipped.

Brandon is demanding indoor masking across the country, and vaccination for anyone working in a school. And also demanding that all children get vaccinated. And all kids must be masked.

It seems his Covid coordinator's statement that we're moving on from lockdowns and mandates and letting the unvaccinated just die was overstated. He's calling for pretty much all state and local governments, and private businesses, to impose mask and vaccine mandates.

He's screaming again. Also, getting angry and sharp with anyone who asks him a question he doesn't like, like "Why did it take so long to finally agree that we should have free covid tests?"

Just 41 percent of Americans approve of the job he has been doing as president, according to a new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll. Support among independents alone dropped eight points in a week.

Overall, more than half – 55 percent – of Americans disapprove of Biden’s performance, including 44 percent who strongly disapprove. His disapproval ratings have jumped 20 points since he took office, reaching a record high this month. The number who strongly disapprove jumped 6 points since a Marist poll conducted just one week earlier.

"If you're not fully vaccinated, you have good reason to be concerned," Biden went on, talking about the rise of the omicron variant. "Almost everyone who has died from COVID-19 in the past many months has been unvaccinated.

WSJ

WASHINGTON—The Biden administration is preparing to distribute 500 million free at-home Covid-19 testing kits to Americans and deploy military doctors and nurses to overburdened hospitals this winter, as the Omicron variant spreads around the country.

“We have to do more. We have to do better—and we will,” President Biden said at the White House on Tuesday during a speech outlining the new coronavirus-response measures.

Mr. Biden’s administration is grappling with how to publicly underscore the urgency surrounding the highly transmissible variant, while seeking to convey that the U.S. is better prepared to battle the pandemic than it was a year ago.

“Over 200 million Americans should have the peace of mind they did not have in March of 2020,” the president said, referring to the vaccinated population in the U.S. “They’re protected from hospitalization. They’re protected from death.”

Mr. Biden stressed that Americans should take the Omicron variant seriously, but shouldn’t panic. The president told vaccinated Americans who are following public health guidelines that they should feel comfortable spending the holidays with their families. Unvaccinated Americans, however, are at much greater risk of hospitalization and death, he warned.

“If you’re not fully vaccinated, you have good reason to be concerned,” Mr. Biden said, adding that Americans have an obligation to their families and their country to get vaccinated. The president noted that former President Donald Trump recently revealed he had received a booster shot. “It may be one of the few things he and I agree on,” he said.

Even as parts of Europe have returned to previous pandemic-related restrictions including lockdowns and tightening border controls, Mr. Biden ruled out the need for shutdowns or other tough measures.

The White House said the administration is deploying federal emergency medical response teams to six states: Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona, New Hampshire and Vermont. Mr. Biden also said he had instructed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to prepare to send 1,000 military medical personnel—including doctors, nurses and paramedics—to hospitals in January and February as needed.

Omicron Variant Accounts for Most U.S. Covid Cases Ahead of the Holidays

The Omicron variant of coronavirus caused more than 70% of new cases in the U.S. registered the week ending Saturday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The surge comes as the holidays approach and some people reconsider their travel plans.

The president directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency to assess the needs of hospitals and start expanding hospital bed capacity. In addition, FEMA will prepare to deploy hundreds of ambulances and medical teams to transport patients to other facilities, if a hospital reaches capacity.

The administration has positioned supplies such as masks, gowns and ventilators around the country so they can be quickly sent to states that need them, the president said.

The administration is setting up new federal testing sites around the country, with the first opening in New York City this week. The initial delivery of at-home testing kits from the 500 million being purchased by the government will begin in January. The tests will be distributed to the public free by mail through a new website, according to the White House.

A White House official said the administration would disclose more information about the type of tests it is purchasing after the procurement is finalized. The 500 million figure is based on what manufacturing capacity can handle, the official said.

Well written anti science fiction

Above all, the virus needed to be caught by as few people as humanly possible.

Allowing people to catch the virus and reach herd immunity would have killed people. People were going to be killed by Sweden’s government. People were going to be killed by Florida’s government.

People needed to wash their hands frequently. People needed to disinfect surfaces frequently. People needed to not touch other people. People needed to stay six feet away from other people. People needed to stay six feet away from other family members.

Masks wouldn’t prevent transmission. Surgical masks would reduce transmission. Surgical masks and cloth masks would reduce transmission. Masks were the key to beating this disease. If a person didn’t wear a mask, he would be killing people. Children needed to wear masks. Small children needed to wear masks.

To make sure hospitals had enough capacity, governments needed to slow the spread by keeping healthy people who had nonessential jobs from working for 15 days, then for 28 days, then for months on end, depending upon the U.S. government’s advice and the state, county, and city governments’ competence.

To make sure hospitals had enough capacity, governments also needed to move elderly, infected people out of hospitals and into nursing homes.

The virus was natural. It originated in bats and was transmitted to a human through a wet-market grocery where live animals were sold for food. The virus originated in bats, was transmitted to some to-be-established intermediate species, and from there was transmitted to a human.

Hydroxychloroquine had a side effect that killed people. Plus, for this novel virus, hydroxychloroquine was unproven. It was a good thing that the government waited and scientifically checked out hydroxychloroquine’s efficacy, because the drug didn’t work on this virus.

Ivermectin was a horse medicine. People aren’t horses. Ivermectin was an antiparasitic, so it obviously wouldn’t treat a virus. Ivermectin overdoses would kill people. Ivermectin use in place of medicines approved for COVID-19 would kill people.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Fast tests weren’t accurate enough, and that would hurt people. The U.S. government was protecting people from the test manufacturers who, unlike the government, cared only about profit and not people’s lives. The U.S. government simply was protecting people from themselves.

Remdesivir was safe and was effective against this novel virus.

Experts all said that vaccines take five to 10 years to develop, but the government’s innovative public-private partnership developed not one but three vaccines in nine months.

All three vaccines were “safe and effective” at preventing transmission of the virus. The vaccines prevented transmission of the disease.

The vaccines were proven, but natural immunity failed sometimes and hadn’t been shown to last. Antibodies didn’t last, either. When antibodies were gone, the strong implication was that immunity would also be gone or would be insufficient.

The vaccines didn’t prevent transmission but did prevent serious disease. Boosters would prevent serious disease. Vaccines for all ages were safe for all and would keep the people who were at risk from getting the virus transmitted to them, and doing anything less than that would kill these people.

The Delta and Omicron variants each called for near-universal vaccination with the vaccines developed for the original virus.

New variants would call for new narrow-spectrum vaccines.

The Cure

Governments caused this disaster, worsened it, and used every study, crony, and avenue of communication for spin.

For the government officials who knew that their government was culpable, the spin was damage control. For the government officials who didn’t know that their government was culpable, the spin was marketing. Every action helped the government and controlled everyone else.

Healthcare doesn’t need to be vulnerable to centralized-government failures.

The internet had been developed so that if conventional communications were destroyed by a nuclear attack, communications would continue. It provides this resilience by being massively decentralized.

Massive decentralization has been, and can continue to be, a feature of the practice of medicine. Each skilled practitioner has preparation going into any novel situation, can rapidly gain clinical knowledge, and can rapidly share knowledge with peers.

Some doctors have applied clinical knowledge and individual judgment to COVID and have produced excellent outcomes.

But many doctors have dispensed centralized, government-funded advice.

This advice has been much like the coverage in legacy media, in which the press buried vital information and offered highly misleading, government-sanctioned advice.

The result? Important research is being ignored, if it’s done at all. What studies have been done have applied generics wrong. Hydroxychloroquine has been studied without supplementing zinc. Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin have been administered late, when their efficacy was weakest and the disease effects were strongest.

All such studies predictably generated outcomes that fail to indicate how effective these generics might have been if they were properly administered early in the course of the infection and disease.

No patent-protected medicine from government cronies has been studied in such disadvantageous ways, or ever would be. Let every buyer beware.

Government fails all the time—in war, in control of the economy, in health-payment systems, in social services, in schools, you name it.

The cure is for individuals to use their best judgment when shopping for every product. For individuals to use their best judgment when voting for every politician. And for politicians to use judgment and have the emotional intelligence to limit other politicians.

Individuals and politicians can each push back on other politicians, limiting governments. Then we the people will be free to work out the best solutions ourselves.

Sleepy Joe Biden will not call for additional lockdowns or stay-at-home orders"

Of course not, it would hurt him polically, so he follows the Science, Political Science.

Biden assures Americans vaccinated against Covid-19 that they can go ahead with holiday plans despite Omicron surge
By Kevin Liptak, Nikki Carvajal, Jeremy Diamond and Maegan Vazquez, CNN
Updated Dec 21, 2021
(CNN) - President Joe Biden aimed to reassure vaccinated Americans that they can still proceed with their holiday plans without fear of becoming seriously ill, announcing a number of new efforts to combat a surge of Covid-19 cases in the United States.
"I know some Americans are wondering if you can safely celebrate the holidays with your family and friends. The answer is, yes you can if you and those you celebrate with are vaccinated, particularly if you've gotten your booster shot," Biden said in a White House speech Tuesday.
The speech, which came just days before Christmas, reflects Biden's renewed focus on the coronavirus pandemic as anxiety rises around the country at the steep spike in cases and concerns about whether new restrictive measures will be needed to limit the spread.
Biden emphasized repeatedly throughout the speech that the current moment is different than March 2020, when the coronavirus solidified its grip on the US.
"The other question folks are asking is, 'Are we going back to March 2020?' ... The answer is absolutely no. No," Biden said.
The President told vaccinated Americans they should feel comfortable celebrating the holidays as they planned if they take the proper precautions, but he also warned the tens of millions of Americans who have so far declined to get shots that they run a high risk of becoming ill or hospitalized. And he also invoked the name of his predecessor to encourage Americans to get their booster shot.
"I got my booster shot as soon as they were available," the President said, "and just the other day former President Trump announced he had gotten his booster shot."
"It may be one of the few things he and I agree on," Biden added. "People with booster shots are highly protected. Join them, join us."
Testing under scrutiny
During his speech, Biden announced the purchase of a half-billion at-home rapid Covid-19 tests, one of a series of new steps he unveiled as the country faces a potentially crippling wintertime surge of infections.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The 500 million new tests will be made available next month and will reach Americans through the mail, according to the White House.
"To be clear, we're not sending a test to every single home in the country," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during Tuesday's White House press briefing. "We are providing an opportunity, another opportunity or ability for people to ... go on a website and request a test if their preference is to get that test to their home. Not everybody will do that. But we want people who want to do that, who want to get tested, who want to request test that way to have that ability to do (it)."
The President told reporters after his speech that the current shortage of Covid-19 tests in the US is "not a failure," but rather a reflection of a dramatic surge in cases.
"No it's not," he said, "because Covid is spreading so rapidly."
"The alarms are going off," the President said, adding, "I don't think anybody anticipated this would be as rapid at spreading as it did ... then all of the sudden it was like everybody rushed to the counter was a big, big rush."
"I knew that was coming," Biden insisted, "so what I tried to do was meet with the companies to use the Defense Production Act to get a half a billion more tests."
Asked by another reporter what took so long to ramp up production of tests, Biden seemed irritated at the question.
"Come on, 'What took so long?'" he asked. "What took so long is it didn't take long at all."
Details on program still being worked out
The administration is still working to determine how many tests each household may request. Senior administration officials were unable to provide any new details about exactly when the website to request the tests will launch and how quickly tests will be shipped out. Psaki said Tuesday that the expectation is that the website will be able to sustain a surge of incoming web traffic.
And a senior administration official said during a briefing with CNN Tuesday morning that the administration is still "working through all the details. And we'll have those in the coming weeks."
The official said the "first deliveries" of those tests will happen in January and that the website will launch "in January or around January as well." The official also said the White House is "working through all the details" when asked how Americans without internet access could secure tests.
The new test shipment scheme came during remarks meant to underscore the White House's plan to confront what is expected to be a large spike in cases driven by the now-dominant Omicron variant in the coming weeks. Already, cases are rising rapidly in areas around the country and hospitals are nearing capacity.
Lines for testing centers have stretched for blocks in certain areas, including the northeast, leading the White House to develop plans to open new federal testing sites in New York City before Christmas.
Distributing free at-home tests to all Americans was written off by the White House as recently as this month. Press secretary Jen Psaki scoffed earlier this month when asked if tests should be free and given out, available everywhere.
"Should we just send one to every American?" she asked.
But on Tuesday in the briefing room, Psaki expressed some regret about her earlier comments.
"

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

"There's not a day that goes by that I don't leave this podium and wish I would have said something with greater context or a more precision or additional information," Psaki said.
"There was a lot of good questioning on testing, and during that briefing, I conveyed a lot of information about our expansion of testing, about the 15 million tests that we were making available about the 20,000 free testing sites," she continued. "Should I have included that additional context?... Yes, going back I wish I would have done that."
New federal Covid-19 efforts
Among the President's new initiatives is a plan to prepare 1,000 military service members to deploy to overburdened hospitals across the country in January and February, administration officials said. Those service members will include doctors, nurses, medics and other military medical personnel.
An official said, "God willing" the full 1,000 wouldn't be needed, "but if we do, they are ready and they're mobilized."
Biden also announced new vaccination sites and increased vaccine access, and will deploy hundreds of additional federal vaccinators.
Though demand for vaccines has dwindled in recent months, the surge caused by the Delta variant earlier this year did lead to increased demand for vaccinations in some of the hardest hit areas.
Biden also addressed FEMA efforts to expand hospital capacity and to pre-position medical supplies in places where stocks may run low in the coming weeks.
In his remarks, the President acknowledged a likely rise in cases -- including among vaccinated people -- but emphasized the drastically different outcomes for those with shots and those unprotected by vaccines.
Biden and his team have been adamant that federal lockdown recommendations aren't in the cards this time. And in his remarks, Biden focused on steps primarily to forestall a crippling of the US public health system than on efforts to fully stop the spread of the virus.
The White House plan announced Tuesday does not ship tests to every American; instead people would request the tests online instead. Those who utilize them will not have to report their results to public health agencies, officials said.
Pressed on that shift, a senior administration official insisted that the new plan "builds" on the administration's previous testing initiatives and pointed to increased supply.
The official also pointed out that "demand for tests ... has spiked now" amid the Omicron surge and the holiday season and said that the government's purchase of 500 million tests is an extra layer on top of existing commercial supply.
The administration had already announced a plan requiring health insurance providers to reimburse plan-holders for the cost of at-home tests; that initiative remains in place next year.

President Joe Biden got angry when talking about the pieces of his Build Back Better plan that would help American families, particularly children. The plan was shot down by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who said that he refused to support the measure. All Republican senators have indicated that they oppose the bill.

Talking about Manchin, Biden said that he doesn't hold a grudge and he's focused on getting the bill done. He then cited an interview with Manchin who said that it wasn't Biden who misled people it, "I mislead you."

"You saw what happened yesterday," Biden continued. "All the talk about how my Build Back Better plan was going to increase inflation and cause debts and all the like. What happened? Goldman Sachs said if we don't pass Build Back Better, we're in trouble because it will grow the economy. Without it, we're not going to grow. What happened? Stock prices went way down. It took a real dip. If you take a look -- everybody thinks because I quoted 17 Nobel laureates saying this will help inflation — think about it in terms of you're a hard working person and you are making $60,000 if you are alone or a mom or dad making $90,000 like a lot of people do and you are worried about inflation. You should be worried about it. It is devastating for working-class and middle-class folks. It really hurts. Where is most of the cost now?"

He said that while costs like gasoline and food may be going up until the pandemic continues to rage, his plan would help families with other costs that are hurting them.

He cited 20 million women who would be able to reenter the workforce because childcare would be significantly reduced. It would stop the increase in costs for insulin, which has grown significantly over just the past 10 years.

"We have 200,000 kids with type 1 diabetes," Biden said. "It costs between 10 cents and $10 to come up with the formula a while ago. Do you know what it costs on average: $560 -- $640 a month. Up to $1,000 a month. What do you do if you're a mom and dad working with minimum wage busting your neck? You look at your kid and you know if you don't get that drug for them? What happened? He could go in a coma or die."

That's when Biden's voice increased and he seemed angry.

"Not only do you put the kid's life at stake, you strip away the dignity of the parent!" he exclaimed. "I'm not joking. Imagine being a parent. Looking at the child and you can't afford and you have no house to borrow against. You have no savings. It's wrong. All the things in that bill are going to reduce prices and costs for middle-class and working-class people. It will reduce their cost."

He closed by saying he intends to continue talking to Manchin, but didn't say whether he'd reach out to more moderate Republicans up for reelection in 2022.

Ironically, the stock market started crashing long before Machin put an end to BBB and there was no way that there was any BBB profits built into the market prices. I don't believe most people expected it to pass.

The main problem with the market tanking is not Joe Manchin, but Omicron and Joe Biden's lack of real plan to do anything about it.

Donald Trump appears to have flown on Jeffrey Epstein’s private jets six more times than was previously known, according to flight logs released as evidence in Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.

Previous disclosures of portions of Epstein’s flight log have shown world leaders, billionaires and celebrities among the many passengers who have flown on Epstein’s private jets.

The new log released as evidence in Maxwell’s case stretches back earlier than previous releases.

HEY VERY lo iq

You see the difference is that unlike Clinton who flew with Epstein to Pedo Island Trump flew once round-trip with his family and Epstein between Florida and New York when Trump's jet had mechanical difficulties on the previously disclosed trip. Not sure what those earlier trips encompassed but that was way before Pedo Island. And before Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-A-Lago

Not sure why the Clintons had Epstein's groomer sitting on an aisle seat at Chelsea's wedding

Or why Comey's daughter who is prosecuting Maxwell thought this log entry was meaningful. Lots of others were curiously blacked out on entries released earlier.

And somehow the FBI managed to "lose" about 20.000 disk images from Epstein's safe.

Odd

but way back when Trump must have been on Epstein's jet.

Though not the 27 times Bill Clinton was nor to Pedo Island

Appears to be a significant detail but way above your limited intelligence level

Well Denny - as someone who watches stocks literally every day I am aware that it was up today, as people have been selling off for days now. There is always a recovery day (maybe and hopefully more than one). With the holidays and everything I am not really wanting to dump a bunch of money in the market right now... and I only have a couple of shorted positions and they are doing just fine (even if they go up because they are covered options sales that are not making it and will expire for me to collect the full value)

That being said, I would expect some people might be selling off before the first of the year to beat the year and and take losses for taxes or even take some gains if they believe it makes sense.

Either way, the market is down 1100 points from the peak and the peak was not all that great to begin with. The first year under Biden has been disappointing from a stock market perspective.

Deep state addiction

It’s ‘go time’ once again in America – time for the unvaccinated to roll up their sleeves...not to get an injection, but to fight against a new ‘variant’ of political and medical hysteria.  Unlike the COVID variants, which have symptoms that grow progressively milder with each wave, the authoritarian variants tend to grow harsher with each progressive mutation.

Indeed, the battle over vaccines has been waged through successively more draconian waves of pressure to see the whole world come to the saving knowledge of the grace of vaccines.  Those who have thus far stood firm in their resolve to retain their bodily autonomy may be feeling weary from the fight, but they must continue to fight.

To be sure, the resolve and grit of those who are unvaccinated will most likely continue to grow stronger as more information comes out concerning the effectiveness of vaccines versus natural immunity, the incidence and severity of adverse reactions to the vaccines, and the virality of the lies told by the media and our politicians to obtain compliance and amass their power.
