"So what was the point in spending months and months and months trying to vaccinate our way to herd immunity rather then just allowing it to happen?"

ANSWER:
A really, really, really STUPID question.
Because by vaccinating, we avoided a lot of more serious cases and a huge number of ADDITIONAL deaths.

Really?

How many additional deaths can you prove we would have otherwise had versus what exactly?

I recall when Sweden had way more deaths per capita than we did and everyone said they were crazy. Now we have 1.72 times as many deaths per capita in spite of Sweden having a more "urban" population than we do?

Who is crazy now?

The reality here is nobody is saying that we should not have used the vaccine, Reverend. Even Trump (who was for the vaccine) was also pushing a variety of treatments (now used throughout the world). Of course, those treatments (used successfully throughout the world) were rejected here.

The issue is whether or not we should have relied 100% on the strategy of being able to contain the virus with a vaccine and all of the lockdowns and other measures. Once sick, we just told people to stay home.

When other countries just provided people vaccines and actually provided treatment when they got sick from Covid. Maybe they told people to be careful, but lockdowns and mandates and such...

Well what did it get us if we all end up catching the virus anyways?

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

You absolutely refuse to give due credit to the abundant testimony of health care workers in our hospitals who insist that those who are now catching the raging Omicron form of the virus are suffering and dying far less IF THEY HAVE BEEN VACCINATED, AND EVEN MORE SO IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED THEIR BOOSTERS.

You can deny that as merely "anecdotal," but you could never convince those health care workers. They have been seeing it and are continuing to see it with their own eyes.

Most heart breaking are those relatives who beg that their sick and dying unvaccinated loved ones get emergency vaccinations only to be told they have waited too late for that to do them any good.

But you will spin on and on and on...incessantly.

Benefits of Getting Vaccinated
Updated Jan. 11, 2022

What You Need to Know
Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 can lower your risk of getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Vaccines can also help prevent serious illness and death.
All steps have been taken to ensure that vaccines are safe and effective for people ages 5 years and older.
If you already had COVID-19, you should still get a COVID-19 vaccine for added protection.
When you are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination, you can resume many activities with proper precautions (e.g., mask wearing in indoor public spaces).
COVID-19 Vaccination Is a Safer Way to Build Protection
Getting a COVID-19 vaccination is a safer way to build protection than getting sick with COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccination helps protect you by creating an antibody response without you having to experience sickness.

Getting sick with COVID-19 can have serious consequences.

Getting sick with COVID-19 can cause severe illness or death, even in children, and we can’t reliably predict who will have mild or severe illness.
You may have long-term health issues after COVID-19 infection. Even people who do not have symptoms when they are initially infected can have these ongoing health problems.
People who are sick with COVID-19 may spread COVID-19 to others including friends and family who are not eligible for vaccination and people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19
COVID-19 Vaccines Are Safe for Children and Adults
While COVID-19 vaccines were developed quickly, all steps have been taken to ensure their safety and effectiveness.

Hundreds of millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intensive safety monitoring program in U.S. history.
A growing body of evidence shows that the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination outweigh the known and potential risks. CDC recommends an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) in most circumstances based on an updated risk-benefit analysis.
Before recommending COVID-19 vaccines, including for children ages 5 years and older, scientists conducted clinical trials with thousands of adults and children and found no serious safety concerns. Learn more about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination for children and teens.

v-safe logo
Everyone who receives a COVID-19 vaccine can participate in safety monitoring by enrolling themselves and their children ages 5 years and older in v-safe and completing health check-ins after their COVID-19 vaccination. Parents and caregivers can create or use their own account to enter their children’s information.

COVID-19 vaccines are effective
COVID 19-vaccines are effective and can lower your risk of getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. COVID-19 vaccines also help prevent serious illness and death in children and adults even if they do get COVID-19.

Recent data pdf icon[1 MB, 68 pages] suggest COVID-19 vaccines become less effective at preventing infection or severe illness over time, especially for people ages 65 years and older. This is why booster shots are recommended for people ages 12 years and older who have completed their primary vaccination series. However, even as the vaccine’s ability to prevent infection decreases with time, COVID-19 vaccination continues to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death when people become infected with COVID-19.

People who have certain medical conditions or who are taking medications that weaken their immune system may not be completely protected even if they completed the primary vaccination series. Some people who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get an additional primary dose of COVID-19 vaccine and a booster shot.

About Variants
Viruses are constantly changing, including the virus that causes COVID-19. These changes occur over time and can lead to the emergence of variants that may have new characteristics. Vaccines continue to reduce a person's risk of contracting the virus that cause COVID-19. Vaccines are highly effective against severe illness.
COVID-19 vaccination is a more reliable way to build protection
The level of protection people get from having COVID-19 (sometimes called natural immunity) may vary depending on how mild or severe their illness was, the time since their infection, and their age; and there is still not an antibody test available that can reliably determine if a person is protected from further infection.

All COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States are effective at preventing COVID-19. Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccination gives most people a high level of protection against COVID-19.

You should get a COVID-19 vaccine, even if you already had COVID-19. Emerging evidence shows that getting a COVID-19 vaccine after you recover from COVID-19 illness provides added protection to your immune system.

Once Up to Date on COVID-19 Vaccination, You Can Start Doing More
When you are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination, you can resume many activities with proper precautions (e.g., wearing a mask while indoors in public spaces).

When you are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination, you may not always need to wear a mask in public.
In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings.
In areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not up to date on COVID-19 vaccination.
You should continue to wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission to maximize protection and prevent possibly spreading COVID-19 to others.
People who are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination who travel within the United States do not need to get tested for COVID-19 before or after travel or self-quarantine after travel.
Most people who are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination with no COVID-like symptoms do not need to quarantine or be restricted from work or school following an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
People up to date on COVID-19 vaccination who have come into close contact with someone with COVID-19 should
be tested at least 5 days after they last had close contact with someone with COVID-19 and
wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days.
People who have a condition or are taking medications that weaken their immune system may not be completely protected even if they have completed a primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine. They should

continue to take all precautions recommended for unvaccinated people, including wearing a well-fitting mask, until advised otherwise by their healthcare provider
explore whether they are eligible for an additional primary dose of COVID-19 vaccine
get a booster shot after completing their COVID-19 vaccination primary series.

How about all the extra deaths and long term mental issues in the country’s youth, but as you live a barren life you wouldn’t know anything about that. The increased deaths from cancer, heart disease and every other malady known to man so we could attempt to keep a few geezers like you alive. Lives ruined from an unnecessary shutdown.

Host Martha MacCallum read from [relevant exchange begins around 1:25] an article by Doug Schoen and Carly Cooperman in The Hill, which said, “Biden and congressional Democrats need to dedicate their focus to…viable legislation that addresses voters’ top issues of concern. The more Democrats who die the better than before!

After all, why would anyone in his right mind needlessly inject people with failed protections that carry a risk of severe adverse reactions?

At this point, we are out of vaccine options.  No vaccine that is currently at our disposal can protect people from contracting and transmitting omicron infection or reduce the severity of its symptoms.

We have seen that the opposite is actually the case: the vaccinated and the boostered are contracting omicron at higher rates than the unvaccinated.

Because by vaccinating, we avoided a lot of more serious cases and a huge number of ADDITIONAL deaths.

Since the vaccines are ineffective against the prevailing variant, all injectioneering has to stop.  To give out any more shots of these vaccines — which we know do not work — is senseless and medically irresponsible.

Continuing vaccination under current circumstances can bring no benefit and will only bring needless harm.  To pointlessly expose healthy people to potential injury would constitute medical malfeasance.

The doctors and scientists complained that Rogan has a “concerning history of broadcasting misinformation, particularly regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“As physicians, we bear the arduous weight of a pandemic that has stretched our medical systems to their limits and only stands to be exacerbated by the anti-vaccination sentiment woven into this and other episodes of Rogan’s podcast,” they wrote.

By comparison, over 60,000 infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists signed the Great Barrington Declaration in October of 2020 to express their “grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies.”

And last September, over 16,000 physicians and medical scientists signed onto a physicians’ statement known as the Rome Declaration, condemning the global strategy to treat COVID. The strongly worded declaration, which was read aloud by Dr. Robert Malone during the Global Covid Summit in Rome, accuses policy-makers of potential “crimes against humanity” for preventing physicians from providing life-saving treatments for their patients and for suppressing open scientific discussion.

Dr. Fauci's NIAID spent over $200,000 to feminize monkeys

By Doctor S. Scott Johnson MD Powerline

Dr. Anthony Fauci's division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), gave more than $200,000 to Scripps Research in December of 2021 to study why transgender women have high rates of HIV.  It did this, in the midst of a global pandemic, by injecting male monkeys with female hormones in an attempt to feminize them.  The NIH says doing so would allow researchers to study how the feminizing hormones impact the monkeys' immune systems.

They could have just made the monkeys watch the Hallmark Channel.  Or hang out with Zac Efron and Michael Cera.

Media monkeys on Fauci (Pixabay license).

Fauci, a proponent of the largest medical experiment in human history, also loves funding experiments on animals.  The NIAID started testing HIV vaccines on monkeys shortly after Fauci took charge of the organization in 1984.  The department gets between 400 and 600 rhesus monkeys every year from a South Carolina island leased by Charles River Laboratories, which has a $27.5-million contract with the NIAID.

This past November we learned that the NIAID funded a study that infected beagles with heartworm larvae and euthanized the dogs when the study was completed.

The New York attorney general’s office said late Tuesday it uncovered a swath of evidence that former President Donald Trump and his company falsely valued assets to obtain loans, insurance coverage and tax deductions.

The findings came in court papers asking a judge to order Mr. Trump and two of his adult children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr., to comply with civil subpoenas for its fraud investigation. Attorney General Letitia James’s office said while it hadn’t reached a conclusion about whether to take legal action, the grounds for the investigation were “self evident.”

“Thus far in our investigation, we have uncovered significant evidence that suggests Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for economic benefit,” Ms. James, a Democrat, said.

A lawyer for the Trumps couldn’t be reached. The Trumps have asked a judge to quash the subpoenas or put them on hold until a parallel criminal case has concluded. Lawyers for the Trumps have argued that any information the attorney general’s lawyers gained through depositions could be improperly used in the criminal investigation, which the Manhattan district attorney’s office is conducting alongside lawyers from the attorney general’s office.

The office has said its investigation began in March 2019, after former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testified before Congress that Mr. Trump deflated his assets to decrease real estate taxes and inflated them to gain financial benefits.

The attorney general’s office said its evidence showed banks and financial institutions relied on the statements when determining whether to grant Mr. Trump and his company loans and insurance.

By Tom Winter and Jonathan Dienst
New York Attorney General Letitia James disclosed new details Tuesday night about her civil investigation into former President Donald Trump’s business, saying the probe has uncovered evidence suggesting the fraudulent valuing of multiple assets and misrepresentations of those values to financial institutions for economic benefit.

James, who launched her probe in 2019, also said in the court filing that the former president “had ultimate authority over a wide swath of conduct by the Trump Organization involving misstatements to counterparties, including financial institutions, and the Internal Revenue Service.”

She further referenced two of the former president’s adult children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump.

“Since 2017, Donald Trump, Jr. has had authority over numerous financial statements containing misleading asset valuations,” James wrote in the court filing.

Ivanka Trump, a former White House adviser, “was a primary contact for the Trump Organization’s largest lender, Deutsche Bank. In connection with this work, Ms. Trump caused misleading financial statements to be submitted to Deutsche Bank and the federal government,” James wrote.

“Thus far in our investigation, we have uncovered significant evidence that suggests Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for economic benefit,” James said in a statement Tuesday. “The Trumps must comply with our lawful subpoenas for documents and testimony because no one in this country can pick and choose if and how the law applies to them.”

Her office added that it "has not yet reached a final decision regarding whether this evidence merits legal action."

New York attorney general's office says it has identified numerous 'misleading statements and omissions' in Trump Org. financial statements
By Kara Scannell, CNN
Updated 2 hours ago Jan 18, 2022
(CNN) - New York Attorney General Letitia James' office says it needs the testimony of former President Donald Trump and two of his adult children to determine their knowledge of what investigators say they have identified as numerous "misleading statements and omissions" in tax submissions and financial statements used to obtain loans.
In a court filing late Tuesday, investigators stated the office "intends to make a final determination about who is responsible for those misstatements and omissions," adding that "OAG requires the testimony and evidence sought herein to determine which Trump Organization employees and affiliates — and which other entities and individuals — may have assisted the Trump Organization and Mr. Trump in making, or may have relevant knowledge about, the misstatements and omissions at issue."
They write that "witnesses closest to the top of the Trump Organization have asserted their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. Certain others have professed faulty memories or asserted that they were following instruction from more senior employees."
RELATED: New Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg pledges to focus on Trump investigations
"But Mr. Trump's actual knowledge of — and intention to make — the numerous misstatements and omissions made by him or on his behalf are essential components to resolving OAG's investigation in an appropriate and just manner," the filing states. "Likewise, Donald Trump, Jr. and Ivanka Trump worked as agents of Mr. Trump, acted on their own behalves, and supervised others in connection with the transactions at issue here; their testimony is necessary for appropriate resolution of OAG's investigation as well."
CNN has reached out to the Trump Organization and representatives for the Trumps for comment.
Ivanka Trump was a key liaison with lender Deutsche Bank, while Donald Trump Jr. was involved in several properties, including 40 Wall Street, and certified the accuracy of the financial statements from 2017 forward, the attorney general's office said.
In lengthy court filings, investigators said that about a dozen current and former Trump Organization employees have testified and that Trump personally authorized the production of his tax returns.
"In light of the pervasive and repeated nature of the misstatements and omissions, it appears that the valuations in the Statements were generally inflated as part of a pattern to suggest that Mr. Trump's net worth was higher than it otherwise would have appeared," the investigators wrote.
They added that when Eric Trump and Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer, testified in 2020, they both asserted their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in response to over 500 questions each.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Specifically, the New York attorney general's office said it is zeroing in on several specific alleged misstatements including:
• The size of Trump's Trump Tower penthouse;
• Miscategorized assets outside Trump's or the Trump Organization's control as "cash," thereby overstating his liquidity;
• Misstated the process by which Trump or his associates reached valuations, including deviations from generally accepted accounting principles in ways that the statements did not disclose;
• Failed to use fundamental techniques of valuation, like discounting future revenues and expenses to their present value, or choosing as "comparables" only similar properties in order to impute valuations from public sales data;
• Misstated the purported involvement of "outside professionals" in reaching the valuations; and
• Failed to advise that certain valuation amounts were inflated by an undisclosed amount for brand value.
One contention by James' office is that Trump hasn't complied with subpoenas for records. As an example, they allege that while Trump did not use email, they learned from witnesses that Trump kept hard copies of documents and used sticky notes to communicate with employees. They said a file cabinet pertaining to Trump's records was never searched to comply with a subpoena.
"This file was never searched because the Trump Organization determined, improbably, that Mr. Trump was not involved in the preparation of his own financial statements," they wrote.
James' office said that the alleged misleading statements were shared with lenders, and insurers alleged that "virtually all of the benefits from the misleading valuations accrued to Donald J Trump." The office also said it has evidence indicating Trump may have obtained more than $5 million in federal tax benefits from allegedly misleading valuations obtained from tax benefits taken at the family compound in New York, known as Seven Springs, and the Trump National Golf Course in Los Angeles.
James' office has been conducting a civil investigation into the Trump Organization and the accuracy of its financial statements since 2019, which Trump has called a political witch hunt.
The former President has sued James alleging she violated his constitutional rights and asked a judge to issue a preliminary injunction blocking the investigation or removing her from it.
James' office subpoenaed Trump and his adult children for testimony in December, leading lawyers for the Trumps to move earlier this month to quash the subpoenas arguing that the attorney general, whose office is conducting a civil investigation and whose attorneys have joined a criminal investigation led by the Manhattan district attorney's office, was trying to "circumvent the entire grand jury process."
A deposition in the civil case, they wrote, "is effectively the same as a deposition by the DANY, but without providing the constitutional protections afforded every witness through the grand jury process."
Witnesses called before a New York state grand jury are given transactional immunity for their testimony and can't be prosecuted unless they lie under oath. James, they argued, is trying to get around those rights by seeking the testimony in a civil case, which could then be used by criminal prosecutors. If they don't testify, in a civil case a jury can hold that against defendants or draw an adverse inference.
In the Tuesday filing, James' lawyers rejected the argument, arguing that the Trumps could assert their Fifth Amendment protections against self-incrimination.
"Each witness is free to invoke their Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. A witness's exercise of that right in a civil investigation (or any other civil or administrative proceeding) is neither uncommon nor a denial of a constitutional right," the attorneys wrote.

New York's attorney general filed a motion Tuesday seeking to compel former President Trump and his two elder children to appear for sworn testimony in her office's civil investigation into the Trump Organization's financial dealings.

Why it matters: Attorney General Letitia James revealed new details in the court filing and a statement on her office's investigation into the Trump Organization's business practices, including a preliminary finding alleging the company used "fraudulent and misleading asset valuations to obtain economic benefits."

It's the latest escalation in James' investigation, after she issued subpoenas for Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, who are named in Tuesday's filing, and requested a deposition from the former president last month.James' motion is in response to the former president's efforts to block her investigation by filing a lawsuit and seeking her removal from the probe. Trump has accused the Democratic attorney general of launching a "politically motivated attack."

Worth noting: A statement from the attorney general's office said that while James "has not yet reached a final decision regarding whether this evidence merits legal action, the grounds for pursuing the investigation are self-evident."

Representatives for the Trump Organization and former president did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment.

Another death blow for coal.....!!!!! From today's Wa Po

Coal Creek Station, near Underwood, N.D., on Jan. 9. (Dan Koeck for The Washington Post)
By Joshua Partlow
January 17, 2022 at 5:03 p.m. EST

UNDERWOOD, N.D. — David Saggau, the chief executive of an energy cooperative, tried to explain the losing economics of running a coal-fired power plant to a North Dakota industry group more than a year ago.
Coal Creek Station had lost $170 million in 2019 as abundant natural gas and proliferating wind projects had cut revenue far below what it cost to run the plant. After four decades sending electricity over the border to Minnesota, Coal Creek would be closing in 2022, Saggau said, and nobody was clamoring to buy it.
“We made folks aware that the plant was for sale for a dollar,” Saggau, of Great River Energy, told the Lignite Energy Council during an October 2020 virtual meeting. “We’re basically giving it away.”

A renewable future was at hand. Winds come howling over the Missouri River in the heart of North Dakota — at the site where Lewis and Clark spent their first frigid winter — and Great River Energy planned to supply wind power over Coal Creek’s valuable transmission line. NextEra Energy, EDF Renewables and other powerhouse firms were racing to lock landowners into leases to harvest some of the most powerful and sustained winds in the country.
But that new clean-energy future never materialized in this part of coal country, with a landscape that has been mined for more than a century and has the scars and sinkholes to prove it. And the sale of Coal Creek Station, which received its last major permit approval earlier this month, illuminates the United States’ halting transition to renewables. Even in places such as North Dakota, where supply and demand align with clean energy, culture and politics pose major obstacles.
In these rural North Dakota counties, local officials passed ordinances that blocked wind and solar projects. State officials rallied to save Coal Creek, and a politically connected North Dakota energy firm stepped in to prolong its life, promising someday to capture its carbon emissions and store them underground.
“I’m not just looking to prop up coal,” Stacy Tschider, the president of Rainbow Energy Marketing Corp., said in July when his company announced it was buying the plant. “I’m looking to take coal to the next level.”

HANNAH DORMIDO/THE WASHINGTON POST
During the United Nations climate summit in Glasgow in the fall, conference head Alok Sharma declared that “the end of coal is in sight.” More than 40 countries pledged to phase out coal, the single-biggest source of atmosphere-warming carbon dioxide emissions. The United States did not join them. Despite its rapid decline, coal still generates about 20 percent of the nation’s electricity and has strong political backing in pockets of the country.
Charles Stroup, a local banker and land agent who supports wind power in North Dakota’s Mercer County, compared the coal industry here to a dying relative that the community is desperate to save, no matter how grim the prognosis.
“Mother doesn’t die in 10 minutes,” Stroup said. “She takes a while.”
For many here, the loss of coal remains unthinkable, and new sources of energy — no matter how promising for local residents and governments — represent a serious threat.

Today, our planet revolves at its hottest levels on record — 1.9 degrees (1.1 Celsius) higher than at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. The drumbeat has been steady; the past seven years have been the hottest on record. As each year brings unprecedented extreme weather and unfathomable statistics, 2021 was no exception.

Except for the fact that those imaginary "huge number of ADDITIONAL deaths" that were "avoided," was offset by ACTUAL deaths from substance abuse, overdoses, suicides, and a plethora of ailments including cancer that went untreated all because you assholes needed to use the Chinese Sneeze to get rid of the Bad Orange Man.

Pederast, you cannot prove a single death was "avoided" while there is a mountain of proof surrounding the ACTUAL deaths I mentioned that could and SHOULD have been avoided.

Texas and Arizona have joined two other states in recovering all the jobs they lost at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, leading a trend that is expected to include another dozen states by the middle of this year.

The states, which also include Utah and Idaho, have benefited from demographic shifts before and during the pandemic—experiencing outsize payroll growth in retail, warehousing, technology and transportation industries. Companies have moved operations to the states, and workers have moved in as well, sometimes leaving more crowded and expensive urban areas.

The states—all Republican controlled—also have had relatively relaxed Covid-19 restrictions during the pandemic, which economists say softened the blow on their economies.

Remember when the White House and Dr. Anthony Fauci told us that, once we all took vaccines, we would all soon return to “normal”? Well, that’s not going to happen. This virus will be with us for decades, just as the flu has persisted despite the availability of vaccines. That is because any virus can mutate. The combination of open borders from countries with poor public health, the relative complexity of COVID-19 compared to the flu and the fact the viruses may mutate quickly, means it’s almost impossible to make a vaccine fast enough to be effective.

Biden has pushed vaccinations and boosters, stating “Go get vaccinated, America!” and: “Get a booster shot eight months after you got your second shot.” This is in sharp contrast to Kamala Harris who about a year ago famously stated on live television: “If Donald Trump tells me to take it [the vaccine], I’m not taking it.” Oddly, Harris’s sentiment transformed shortly after Biden was sworn in as President.

Next, Americans then repeatedly heard Fauci on television parroting that the vaccine and booster shots were “highly effective” and the White House officially repeating on December 22 that people with the booster are “highly protected.”

What we’re seeing is the moral bankruptcy equivalent of what Ernest Hemingway once said about actual, bankruptcy, which comes “gradually, then suddenly.” The Biden bureaucrats are “all in” and can never turn back, data be damned.

Crude prices rose to their highest level since the 2014 shale-induced oil crash, a milestone in a rally that is gathering momentum as geopolitical tensions threaten to knock supply.

Futures for West Texas Intermediate, the main grade of U.S. crude, added 1.7% to $85.20 a barrel Tuesday morning. If the contracts settle above $84.65 a barrel, it will mark their highest closing level since October 2014, when oil prices were moving in the opposite direction as a gusher of U.S. crude flooded the market.

It took the oil market several years to recover from the price decline set in motion by America’s re-emergence as an oil-producing superpower. The rebound from the coronavirus crash of 2020—when U.S. crude futures turned negative as the world struggled to find places to store oil—has been much faster.

Outside their usual docket of blockbuster constitutional controversies, Supreme Court justices are divided over something else: face masks.

The high court returned to in-person arguments in October, but a recent surge in COVID cases due to the omicron variant has the justices split over safety protocols.

Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor has diabetes, which puts her at higher risk for a serious bout with COVID-19. In the fall, the Obama appointee was the only one of the nine justices to wear a mask in the courtroom where attendance is limited because of the coronavirus to the court, the attorneys and the Supreme Court press corps. As cases began to rise during the holiday season, Sotomayor said she did not feel safe near people who were unmasked.

Chief Justice John Roberts then asked everyone to wear masks in the courtroom, NPR reported. Everyone complied — except for Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch.

Since Gorsuch, who sits next to Sotomayor on the bench, has refused to wear a mask, Sotomayor has been tuning into arguments remotely from her chambers at the Supreme Court building.

A new Politico-Morning Consult poll finds 68% of voters say the country is on the wrong track.

And a warning sign for the White House: 49% of voters disagreed with the statement that President Biden is mentally fit.

Associated Press: “It is a perilous time for Biden: The nation is gripped by another disruptive surge of virus cases and inflation is at a level not seen in a generation. Biden’s approval rating has fallen sharply over his first year in office and Democrats are bracing for a potential midterm rout if he can’t turn things around.”

AP report card.

A look at where Biden stands on some of his key promises as he rounds out his first year:

COVID-19

— Reach a semblance of normalcy by Christmas 2021.

Broken. The delta and then the omicron variants drove fresh records in infections, spikes in hospitalizations, business closures and shortages of goods nationwide over the holiday season.

— Provide Americans with 1 billion home tests.

In progress. In December, Biden pledged to provide 500 million rapid tests amid a surge in the highly transmissible omicron variant, and announced plans last week to distribute an additional 500 million tests. A distribution website launches Wednesday.

— Provide 100 million vaccine shots to Americans in his first 100 days, and vaccinate 70% of the world’s population against COVID by September 2022.

In progress. Biden surpassed the domestic vaccination goal, but only about 61% of the world’s population has received one dose.

— Safely reopen a majority of K-8 schools and keep them open.

Mostly accomplished. Schools are largely back to in-person learning, but the omicron surge has caused closures and other issues in a handful of school districts nationwide.

— Pass a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief legislative package.

Done; the bill passed last March. It also delivered on his promise to provide $2,000 in direct aid payments to Americans.

CLIMATE

— Rescind Keystone XL oil pipeline permit, protect the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, rejoin the Paris climate agreement and embrace the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol to reduce harmful hydrofluorocarbons, or HFC’s.

Done.

— Ban new oil and gas leases on federal lands and offshore waters.

Broken. The administration has proposed reforms to the nation’s oil and gas leasing program but hasn’t embraced a full ban.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

ECONOMY

— Roll back President Donald Trump’s 2017 cuts to corporate tax rates.

Broken. Biden’s social and environmental spending package included tax hikes on corporations and the wealthy, but the bill is currently stalled in the Senate.

— Pause federal student debt payments.

Done.

— Order a review of U.S. supply chains.

Done.

IMMIGRATION

— Raise refugee cap to 125,000, up from the 15,000 set by Trump.

Not close. Biden signed an executive order in February raising the cap to 62,500 refugees.

— Surge humanitarian resources to the border and encourage public-private partnerships to deal with an increase in migration there.

Yes, but officials have still struggled to deal with the influx of migrants at the border. Biden signed an executive order asking officials to prepare plans for using humanitarian resources there. He has yet to establish new public-private partnerships.

— Reform the U.S. asylum system.

Incomplete. Biden signed an executive order in February directing his officials to craft a strategy for migration, including refugees and asylum seekers, and while he promised last year to implement a new “humane” asylum system, there’s been no sign of specifics from the White House. And the Biden administration has continued a Trump-era policy that allows Customs and Border Protection to quickly expel migrants who enter the country without authorization to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

— Reverse Trump-era policies on travel restrictions on people from a number of Muslim-majority countries, funding and building the border wall, a provision discouraging migrants from using public benefits, and one expanding criteria for deporting immigrants.

Done.

— Streamline and improve the naturalization process for green-card holders.

In progress. Biden signed an executive order in February to improve the naturalization process, and the Department of Homeland Security has since revoked some Trump-era rules.

— End family separation policy and create a task force to reunite families separated at the border.

Done. Biden signed executive orders ending the policy and establishing a task force focused on reuniting families. Only a handful of families have been reunited thus far due to difficulties locating the parents.

— Protect young immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents by reinstating the Obama-era policy defending them and their families from deportation.

In progress. Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in March his agency was issuing a rule to “preserve and fortify” the policy, which would deprioritize young immigrants from deportation, but the policy itself is still facing challenges in court.

— End prolonged migrant detention and invest in a case-management system to process people.

Broken. There’s been no announcement of added investments in case-management systems. While the administration said in March it would attempt to release parents and children within 72 hours of their arrival, officials acknowledged that hundreds of children have been held by Border Patrol for much longer. The administration is struggling with an increase in unaccompanied minors arriving at the border and a lack of facilities to house them.

DOMESTIC POLICY

— Reverse transgender military ban.

Done.

— Establish police oversight board.

Abandoned. The Biden administration decided to scrap the idea based on input from civil rights groups and police unions.

— Direct attorney general to deliver a list of recommendations for restructuring the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other Justice Department agencies to better enforce gun laws.

Not yet.

— Direct FBI to issue report on delays in background checks for gun purchases.

Not yet.

FOREIGN POLICY

— “End the forever wars in Afghanistan and the Middle East” and terminate U.S. involvement in the Yemen civil war.

Mixed. The U.S. ended the 20-year war in Afghanistan in August, albeit in a bloody and chaotic fashion. The administration, however, announced in November it would sell $650 million worth of air-to-air missiles Saudi Arabia, a central player in the Yemen conflict.

— Put human rights at the center of foreign policy.

Mixed. Biden has repeatedly called out China for targeting democracy activists in Hong Kong and human rights abuses against Uyghur and ethnic minorities. He’s also raised concerns about the jailing and treatment of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. He declined to hold Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, directly responsible for the killing of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi despite U.S. intelligence showing Salman approved of the hit.

— Improve ties with allies who had rocky relations with Trump.

Mixed. Biden won praise from allies for his efforts to reclaim U.S. leadership on climate issues. Indo-Pacific leaders have been pleased by coordination efforts on China policy. Biden acknowledged his administration stumbled with the rollout of a deal to provide nuclear submarine technology to Australia, a move that torpedoed a $66 billion French deal and led to Paris temporarily recalling its ambassador to Washington. His decision to move forward with the U.S. military withdrawal in Afghanistan rankled some NATO allies who sought to extend the mission to stave off a Taliban takeover.

— Quickly rejoin the nuclear deal with Iran so long as Tehran comes back into compliance.

Not accomplished. Indirect talks haven’t collapsed, but White House hopes are fading.

Natural Gas Prices Rally Cold East Coast Weather

-1.40%

Explore the topics mentioned in this article
On Tuesday, natural gas prices continued to rise. According to a recent National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration report, much colder than normal weather is expected to cover most of the Mid-West and North East, and warmer than average weather will cover most of the West Coast for the next 8-14 days. Production increased in the latest week as a result of imports from Canada.

Technical Analysis

On Tuesday, natural gas prices rallied, 1%. Support is seen near the 50-day moving average at 4.30. Resistance is seen near the January highs at 4.50. The 10-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average which means that a short-term uptrend is now in place. Short-term momentum is positive as the fast stochastic generated a crossover buy signal. Medium-term momentum is positive as the MACD (moving average convergence divergence) histogram is printing in positive territory with an upward sloping trajectory which points to higher prices.

Supplies Rose in the Latest Week

U.S. total natural gas supply increases week over week as a result of higher net imports from Canada. According to data from the EIA, the average total supply of natural gas rose by 0.7% from a week ago. Dry natural gas production decreased by 0.6% from the previous report week, but average net imports from Canada more than offset this decline by increasing 25.1% from last week.

Those ELEVEN percenters are holding strong

"F" Joe Biden

and as even he says, "Let's go Brandon"

* And overall, Biden’s job approval stands at 40 percent, compared to 56 percent who disapprove.

JUST IN: The President of Emirates tells CNN that the airline was not aware of some of the potential 5G rollout issues until yesterday morning, calling it "one of the most delinquent, utterly irresponsible" situations he has seen in his aviation career

Guess Pete Buttigieg must be out on another leave or partying in Florida

and Joe has no clue

How the hell can there still be eleven percenters ???

Sen Schumer will lead democrats further down the rabbit hole tonight when he forces votes on blowing up the filibuster and the legalize election theft bill. Both will fail and everyone knows it. Dems are in chaos over it all and tbe circular firing squad is forming.

Prosecutors Reveal New Details of January 6 Plot
January 19, 2022 at 10:52 am EST By Taegan Goddard 15 Comments CAPS ADDED:

“In an effort to keep a newly-arrested member of the Oath Keepers militia group charged in last week’s seditious conspiracy indictment behind bars — the Justice Department in a new court filing Wednesday revealed even more details behind the group’s alleged plotting in advance of the Jan. 6 insurrection,”
ABC News reports.

“Edward Vallejo is NOT alleged to have joined the Oath Keepers at the Capitol on Jan. 6 — INSTEAD he is accused of waiting with a so-called ‘Quick Reaction Force’ of heavily armed individuals at a hotel in Virginia just outside the city, waiting to be activated once the militia’s members in D.C. called for help.”

WOW!
IF THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT SEDITION/REVOLUTION/A COUP/THE OVERTHROW OF AND INTERFERENCE WITH THE PROPER WORKING OF GOVERNMENT, it would be difficult to find anything more indicative of exactly that.
______

How could he be charged when he was not even in DC? I believe Ch asked.

Ther's you answer, Ch!

Taliban Asks Muslim Nations to Recognize Afghan Rulers
January 19, 2022 at 11:15 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The Taliban’s prime minister called on Muslim nations to be the first to officially recognize the government that seized power in Afghanistan in August,” AFP reports.

“No country has yet recognized the Taliban government, with nations watching to see how the hardline Islamists -– notorious for human rights abuses during their first stint in power between 1996 and 2001 -– will rule this time around.”
___________

I guess pepper spraying those Afghani women who marched in protest of the abuse of women should tell us something.

And remember, it was TRUMP who turned his back on the Afghani government and began negotiating the withdrawal exclusively WITH THE TALIBAN.

I guess you can say it is his life's work

And his GODdard tells him so

A FAILURE like BIDEN

but at least the "pastor" didn't ruin a son like Joe did with Hunter

though people are willing to pay a half million a painting for his "works"

and millions for rights to his book with very low "sales"

odd
