Breaking news is more important.

The Federal Reserve is taking off the gloves in its bid to fight a historic surge in inflation.

The Fed held its key interest rate near zero Wednesday but said it will “soon be appropriate” to raise it, hinting that a March rate hike is all but certain. The increase would be the first in more than three years and kick off what’s expected to be a flurry of three or more quarter-point increases this year aimed at reining in sharply rising consumer prices.

Speculation about the widely expected move has been a major reason for the stock market’s sharp selloff this month.

In a statement after a two-day meeting, the Fed didn't say the economy has reached full employment, which would fulfil the central bank’s second condition for raising rates, but it did cite a "strong labor market.". The Fed previously said its other benchmark – inflation running above 2% for “some time” -- had been met.

“With inflation well above 2% and a strong labor market, the Committee expects it will soon be appropriate to raise” its key interest rate,” the Fed said in its statement.

It will decrease demand and slow down the economy..

If the supply chain begins to improve, inflation will slowly decrease. If the economy returns to growth by the end of summer, the political landscape might change in favor of the President and the Democrats.

It's always a balancing process.

MORNING SHOTS

Dems' Problems Run Deeper Than Just BidenThe nagging will continue until morale improves

The Left’s theory: Cultural Leftism Is a Winner! “The left in the Democratic party insists that cultural leftism is central to consolidating the ‘rising American electorate’ that will power the Democratic party to dominance in an increasingly multicultural, multiracial America. It is a feature they say, not a bug, of current Democratic practice.

The reality: “But in the process, the left has managed to associate the Democratic party with a series of views on crime, immigration, policing, schooling, free speech and, of course, race and gender that are quite far from those of the median voter. That’s a success for the left but the hard reality is that it’s an electoral liability for the Democratic party.”

**

The Left’s theory: The Crisis of Democracy! “Another key link in the left’s theory of the case is the assumption that voters will, if the messaging is loud enough, necessarily agree with the Democrats on the nature and extent of the current threat to democracy posed by the Republican party, and therefore the need to vote Democratic. The January 6th events, especially, are continually cited as an ironclad justification for rejecting the Republicans.”

The reality: This approach is being repeatedly put to the test and repeatedly failing….Democrats, cheered on by the left of the party, pursued a doomed attempt to push extensive voting rights bills through the Senate, accompanied by a truly astonishing level of rhetoric on how only passage of the bills could save American democracy and how those failing to support passage were aiding and abetting a New Jim Crow and siding with George Wallace, Bull Connor and Jefferson Davis.

This was all pursued despite an abundance of evidence that most voters, including nonwhite voters, were not particularly animated by the issue and the rather embarrassing fact that the bills would actually have done little to counter the threat of election subversion, the most common target of Democratic messaging. In the end, the failure has just made the Democrats look ineffective without any real political payoff.

**

The Left’s theory: It’s Transformation Time! “It’s odd that Biden’s narrower-than-expected Presidential win with downballot losses and, finally, whisker-thin control of Congress was interpreted a suggesting it was transformation time in America.”

The reality: “Any reasonably clear-eyed look at the election strongly indicated that Biden was elected to get the country back to normal by containing the covid pandemic and fixing the economy. But the need to barrel ahead with transformation was pushed consistently by the Democratic party left—pushed in fact to the point of collapse in 2021.”

But... the scheme appeared to go all the way to the top.

The Department of Justice is investigating a scheme by Donald Trump's allies to submit phony elector certificates to Congress and the National Archives, but one likely defense will further implicate the White House.

Deputy attorney general Lisa Monaco revealed that prosecutors were looking into the scheme in ongoing investigation, and legal expert Philip Rotner broke down some of the possible defenses that for the case in a new column for The Bulwark.

The claim that the phony electors were the 'duly elected and qualified' electors from their respective states was blatantly false and almost certainly criminal under a wide range of state and federal laws," wrote Rotner, a veteran attorney.

The plot was obviously coordinated between officials in five states lost by Trump, and there's "unmistakeable evidence" that the phony certificates were intended to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and Rotner said the scheme appeared to go all the way to the top.

The interest rate hike is widely expected to happen in March, at the conclusion of its next policymaking meeting — and almost exactly two years to the day after it slashed rates to zero in response to the emergence of a fast-spreading novel coronavirus that threatened to destabilize the entire financial system.

Fast-forward to 2022 and the macroeconomic climate has changed markedly: Today, the greatest economic worry for many is rapidly escalating prices of food, fuel, housing and a host of other goods and services. Kputz

The American Thinker suggested that the United States to follow the same path towards fascist economic policy. Like Hitler in 1932.

After hundreds of years of astonishing success, we should be celebrating shareholder capitalism for all of the remarkable achievements it has helped usher into our lives. More importantly, we should oppose all of those who long to upend shareholder capitalism and replace it with a scheme that centralizes decision to government authority while enhancing their power, prestige, and prosperity with the people in power.

The German government took power from the shareholders and executives.

The worst-case scenario for Democrats could mean four or more GOP Senate pickups, moving into the bluer parts of the map. That would entail Republican pickups in Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada, the three most favorable states on the map, holds in the two GOP-held states Biden carried, along with an upset in New Hampshire or Colorado. This is the “wave scenario” that’s looking more likely. Adding insult to injury, the Senate map gets downright brutal for Democrats in 2024, with the party defending seats in Republican-friendly West Virginia, Ohio, and Montana, along with other swing-state challenges. It’s a formula for Democrats to sink into a long-term Senate minority, unless Biden starts tending to the interests of his most vulnerable members.

Right wing censorship is looking like Russia during the Soviet Union empire.

They banned books about free speech and free governments like the United States of America because they were frightened by success in Europe and North America.

Amid the GOP's national campaign to purge "leftist ideology" from public schools, local officials across the nation are now banning certain books that deal with race, sex, and gender, from school shelves.

On Thursday, a Missouri school board voted 4-3 to formally pull Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eye" from high school libraries in the district. The book, which tells the story of a young Black girl growing up in the Great Depression, includes passages that describe incest and child molestation. Central to the book's premise is the narrator's struggle with society's white standards of beauty, which cause her to develop an inferiority complex around the color of her skin.

Wentzville School Board member Sandy Garber told the St. Louis Post Dispatch that she voted against the book to shield her children from obscenity. "By all means, go buy the book for your child," Garber said. "I would not want this book in the school for anyone else to see."

The decision comes despite pushback from district staff and residents, who after a committee review advised the board that banning the novel would "infringe on the rights of parents and students to decide for themselves if they want to read this work of literature."

Kris Kleindienst, owner of Left Bank Books in St. Louis, told a Fox affiliate that the board's vote sweeps important discussions of race and sexual abuse under the rug.

"Kids are growing and developing and should have access to as much material as is out there," Kleindienst said. "It shouldn't be the decision of a few parents what kids should read."

The book banning fever has reached a pitch in Mississippi this week as well.

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee is currently engaged in a budgetary standoff with Madison County Library System. McGee is attempting to deprive the school board of $100,000 in funding because the Republican wants to see a spate of LGBTQ-themed books banned from school libraries.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Tonja Johnson, executive director for the Madison County Library System, told The Mississippi Free Press that McGee is withholding the money due to his own personal beliefs. "He explained his opposition to what he called 'homosexual materials' in the library, that it went against his Christian beliefs, and that he would not release the money as the long as the materials were there," Johnson said. "He told me that the library can serve whoever we wanted, but that he only serves the great Lord above."

According to the Free Press, McGee specifically demanded the immediate removal of the "The Queer Bible," an essay collection featuring the voices of queer figures like Elton John, Munroe Bergdorf, Tan France, George Michael and Susan Sontag.

And in Tennessee, the Williamson County Schools committee has also joined the censorship fold, imposing restrictions on several different books in light of conservative backlash.

After a review of 31 different texts, the committee on Tuesday "removed one book" from the school shelves and "restricted seven others," according to The Tennessean. The committee specifically removed "Walk Two Moons," a 1994 fiction novel written by Sharon Creech. The book centers on the story of a 13-year-old girl with Native American heritage who is reckoning with the disappearance of her mother while traveling from Ohio to Idaho.

The books were reportedly first called into question by the Williamson County chapter of Moms for Liberty, a right-wing advocacy group that advocates for "parents' rights" in education. The committee concluded that the text contained "objectionable content," which according to Moms for Liberty, included "stick figures hanging, cursing and miscarriage, hysterectomy/stillborn and screaming during labor."

The bans in Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee are part of a larger right-wing movement to crack down on books with "objectionable" works often featuring Black and LGTBQ+ themes. According to the American Library Association (ALA), between June and September of last year, the U.S. saw "155 unique censorship incidents" in cities and districts across the nation.

"We're seeing an unprecedented volume of challenges in the fall of 2021," said Deborah Caldwell-Stone, the director of the ALA's Office of Intellectual Freedom, last year. "In my twenty years with ALA, I can't recall a time when we had multiple challenges coming in on a daily basis.

Those not able to be belong in the investor class are always green with envy at those of us who do belong, and to show their disdain they choose to show us just how little they know about it. Like there's some sort of moral superiority in being completely ignorant of all things economic.

The alky posts this shit with no sense of irony, and no mention of the authors of anti-trans books being banned from Amazon, retailers like Target, etc.

We're only playing by YOUR rules alky.

The Rules:

"Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have." Check

"Never go outside the expertise of your people." Check

"Whenever possible go outside the expertise of the enemy."

"Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." CHECK

"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."

"A good tactic is one your people enjoy." Check

"A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."

"Keep the pressure on." Check

"The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. " Check

"The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition." Check

"If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative."

"The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. " Check.

So alky, in this particular case my side has used fully 8 of the 13 'Rules for Radicals' that Saul Alinsky authored.

You guys established these rules and you can't stand it that they're being used against you.

Please forgive the fine folks of MS and TN for not wanting their 8 year old boys learning how to suck cock and take it in the ass from the fucking deviants that populate your team.
