Here is a simple idea?

Why not actually pass something?

There are actually things about "voting rights" that are universally popular such as making election day a national holiday or allowing for early voting.  I am curious as to why our politicians insist on bills that are literally partisan and designed to push the other Party away. Wouldn't it make more sense to actually sit down with a bipartisan group of politicians and find out what is agreed upon and could actually pass?

The answer, of course is that many of these bills are pushed and almost written by big donors and various political advocacy groups that control your politicians. Biden and Democrats are slaves to these progressive groups pushing for more chances to commit election fraud and will simply not settle for fairness.

Clock Ticking on Trump’s Obstruction of Justice
January 20, 2022 at 3:55 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 44 Comments

The five-year deadline is closing in to charge Donald Trump with the obstruction of justice crimes detailed by special counsel Robert Mueller, Insider reports.

“In his more than 400-page final report, Mueller’s special counsel team documented 10 episodes of possible obstruction of justice by Trump. Among them were Trump’s efforts in early 2017 to pressure then-FBI Director James Comey to close an investigation into Michael Flynn, who at the time was national security advisor. Trump later fired Comey, setting in motion the events that led to Mueller’s appointment as the special counsel in charge of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.”

BERLIN — On Jan. 20, 1942, 15 high-ranking officials of the Nazi bureaucracy met in a villa on Lake Wannsee on the western edge of Berlin. Nibbles were served and washed down with cognac. There was only one point on the agenda: “The organizational, logistical and material steps for a final solution of the Jewish question in Europe.”

Planning the Holocaust took all of 90 minutes.

Eighty years after the infamous Wannsee Conference that meticulously mapped it out, the bureaucratic efficiency of it remains as unnerving as ever.

The minutes taken that day and typed up on 15 pages do not explicitly refer to murder. They use phrases like “evacuation” and “reduction” and “treatment” — and divide up the task among different government departments and their “pertinent specialists.”

“You read that protocol, and it’s chilling,” said Deborah E. Lipstadt, a renowned Holocaust scholar. “It’s all very camouflaged language. But then you look at the list of countries and the number of Jews they planned to kill. Eleven million people they were going to go after. They had very big plans.”

Didn't Manchin already attempt that route and got NOTHING FROM HIS R FRIENDS??????? Sorry sport, the the party of No has no desire to ensure voting rights unless it suits their narrow view of the world....!!!!

Senate Republicans filibustered a voting rights bill that was meant to be a compromised version of previous voting rights legislation proposed by Democrats — and which Sen. Joe Manchin, a conservative Democrat from West Virginia, has said would get at least some GOP support.

All 50 Republicans in the Senate voted to filibuster the bill, effectively ending its prospects of being passed in the “upper chamber” of Congress. In order to get the bill past a Senate filibuster, at least 10 Republican votes are required.

The bill sought to address the slew of anti-voting rights legislation being passed in Republican-controlled states across the country. Many GOP state lawmakers have been proposing restrictive legislation to address false claims that election fraud affected last year’s presidential race, a lie frequently purported by former President Donald Trump and his allies, in spite of evidence that proves otherwise.

Wall Street’s Pandemic Bonanza
January 20, 2022 at 11:55 am EST By Taegan Goddard 24 Comments

John Cassidy:
“Two years to the week after the first Covid-19 cases in this country were confirmed, it’s increasingly clear who the biggest economic winners have been. The tech giants that benefited from the shift to remote work, such as Amazon and Microsoft, are the most obvious ones, but the list also includes major Wall Street banks and large financial firms.

“Last Friday, JPMorgan Chase, the biggest bank in the country, announced that it had made a post-tax profit of $48.3 billion in 2021. Nearly fifty billion dollars. That’s about thirty-five per cent more than the thirty-six billion dollars that JPMorgan Chase made in 2019, the year before the pandemic, which was itself a record figure.

“On Tuesday, Goldman Sachs announced record post-tax profits of $21.6 billion for 2021. The past twelve months have been such a stellar period for the firm that, according to Bloomberg News, it is preparing to give some of its most senior employees two year-end bonuses.

“It’s hard to exaggerate the extent to which the current Wall Street bonanza is a product of the stimulative policies that the Fed and Congress introduced to lessen the pain of the pandemic.”

BUT NOW WE NEED TO TAKE ACTIONS ON HOW WE CAN HELP MAIN STREET AND NOT JUST WALL STREET.

THAT ALWAYS TAKES DEMOCRATS TO DO.

JUST LOOK AT OUR HISTORY.

Arizona Maricopa County election audit found thousands of invalid ballots counted, including several thousand from people no longer living in the county or even the state.

Georgia has already (quietly) arrested people and are now actively investigating a ballot harvesting scheme that according to a witness who took part... involved operatives paying harvesters to collect ballots and drop them in the "drop boxes" that have been declared to be illegal by judges. This witness was paid 30,000 between the general and run off elections. The estimates are that at least 100,000 ballots in both elections were dropped off in ballot boxes illegally... more than enough to have changed the outcome.

Over 131 million dollars in private donations to election officials for Covid was diverted to get out the vote campaigns in Democratic districts in several battleground states. Wisconsin and others have open investigations of the local election officials in regards to whether these funds were actually used for covid or illegally used for campaign/GOTV drives.

Let's not forget video footage of Fulton county election officials running ballots through multiple times and then bragging about it on other video.

How many "post-election" rulings have Judges (a day late and dollar short) ruled that executive orders and "guidance" from Democratic Governors and Secretary of States were in violation of the laws in place and should not have been followed?

Lexington Herald-Leader
With gaffe on voting rights, Mitch McConnell confirms what many already fear

Linda Blackford
Thu, January 20, 2022, 3:38 PM
Of course, Sen. Mitch McConnell made a gaffe on Thursday when he said that African-Americans were voting at the same rate as Americans, leaving out the word “white.”

But sometimes gaffes have a way of stating the truth. McConnell was explaining why democracy was in fine shape, despite the failure of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to progress in the U.S. Senate. And for white Americans, the rich white ones that Mitch works hard to represent, that’s probably true. Attempts to overturn the filibuster — used many times against civil rights legislation — failed. McConnell thinks we should suspend the filibuster only when he’s trying to pack the U.S. Supreme Court as he did in 2017.

For “other” Americans, the ones whose interests are not such a priority for McConnell, democracy doesn’t look so robust. So far, 19 state legislatures have passed 34 laws that add new voting restrictions. The federal bill would attempt to restore federal oversight of states that have had historical problems with allowing minorities to vote, such as Alabama, where John Lewis almost died at the hands of state troopers when he marched for the rights of Black people to vote.

Democrats like Sen. Rand Paul challenger Charles Booker jumped on McConnell: “Mitch has never cared about us. And today, he just happened to speak his mind, and said the quiet part out loud.”

He’s right. Restrictions on who can vote and how overwhelmingly hurt poor and minority voters, the ones who propelled Biden to victory. It took the federal government to ensure everyone the right to vote in the 1960s, and it will take the federal government to keep that right intact, it seems.

Trump is getting nervous every day Scott.

Days after the Jan. 6 committee began receiving records from the National Archives following the Supreme Court’s rejection of former President Trump’s effort to bar the release of documents, some details have reportedly started to emerge regarding documents from Trump’s White House that the panel has received thus far.

According to Politico on Thursday, the committee has received four notable items: two drafts of tweets that the former president ultimately sent the day before the deadly Capitol insurrection last year, as well as a legal memo and a handwritten note on White House stationery.

The memo reportedly echoes arguments that Trump lawyer John Eastman made in the days leading up to the insurrection. Eastman argued that then-Vice President Mike Pence had the authority to refuse to certify Joe Biden’s electoral victory on the day of the joint session of Congress. Pence, however, was not persuaded by Eastman.

It is currently unclear who wrote the memo or which of Trump’s draft tweets the committee obtained, according to Politico. The contents of the handwritten note have not been reported either.

Politico noted that the immediacy of the four notable documents signal that the committee will soon receive a wide variety of documents, some of which the panel could obtain on a daily basis.

Production of materials is ongoing.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court refused a request from Trump to block a subpoena from the committee for records about the Capitol insurrection. The 8-1 ruling allows the panel to receive records it requested in October from the National Archives. The records contain hundreds of pages, and include notes taken by White House staff during the Jan. 6, 2021 attack.

Trump had insisted that, as a former President, he could assert executive privilege over records created during his term. President Biden, however, decided against exercising privilege over the records the committee requested.

According to the Justice Department, some of the records Trump tried to block include: White House call logs and speech drafts for him dated Jan. 6, in addition to “a draft Executive Order concerning election integrity.”

The committee swiftly praised the Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday, saying that it had already started to receive the records that the former president hoped wouldn’t get in its hands.

On September 24, the result of the so-called “audit” of the election results in Maricopa County by the Republican Majority in the Arizona Senate was finally announced. Though clearly initiated in bad faith and funded with the purpose of finding support for The Big Lie that the election was “stolen” from former President Trump, the Arizona Senate’s contractor Cyber Ninjas ultimately reported that President Biden had won the county and found no evidence of fraud.

Despite the lack of experience of the audit managers in the field of elections, the Cyber Ninjas report proposed a variety of amendments to Arizona’s election laws that would add further burdens on the voting rights of Arizona’s citizens. These legislative proposals are based on suspicions and conjectures, set out in the report, as to possible irregularities and deficiencies on the part of Maricopa County officials in the conduct of the election.

The Cyber Ninjas’ allegations were promptly refuted by county officials and other election experts, mostly Republicans. Nevertheless, they remain a cause for concern, as they serve to undermine public trust in the voting process. On July 1, we released a comprehensive chronology of the 2020 Arizona election and the subsequent Arizona Senate audit, followed by two commentaries in late July and mid-August. We have now updated the chronology to cover the entire period between the 2020 election and the announcement of the audit results, along with the two earlier commentaries.

We do so for two reasons. First, we believe the chronology and its related materials provide comprehensive documentation of what occurred in Arizona—including the lack of need for the audit, the serious bias and inexperience of those who conducted it, and the complete lack of transparency in the process—which thereby undercuts any credibility that might be accorded to the information presented in the audit to support its legislative recommendations.

The second is our deep concern that these self-appointed audits in Arizona and other states are designed not only to perpetuate the Big Lie that former President Trump won the 2020 election, but, even more insidiously, to delegitimize undesired outcomes in future elections. In this context, we hope that our materials may contribute to the vital need for continued broad-scale public education to combat this false narrative that threatens the very basis of our democratic system.

The 2020 election in Maricopa County had already been audited several times, including by two different federally certified election audit firms, prior to intervention by Cyber Ninjas. There was no need for the audit. Subsequent to the election, Maricopa County election officials completed various verifications that exceeded the requirements of Arizona law and fully supported the accuracy of the election results. These efforts included a bipartisan hand count of a substantial number of sample ballots, a review known as a logic and accuracy test that ensured that no changes were made to the software during the election process, and a forensic audit of ballot tabulation equipment conducted by two independent firms certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
Governor Doug Ducey, a Republican, publicly defended the integrity of the November 2020 election. After the conclusion of the election, Ducey stated: “[t]here is integrity in our election system. Joe Biden did win Arizona.” Subsequently, the Biden electors in Arizona were duly certified by Arizona officials as having received the highest number of votes, which determination was accepted by the United States Congress on January 7. In the Senate race also being audited, the Republican candidate Martha McSally conceded on November 13 and has not contested the results.

So please... you have your opinion...

I will continue to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

A pro Trump firm conducted the investigation.

The audit has been almost entirely funded by groups associated with former President Trump. While the Arizona Senate appropriated $150,000 to provide initial funding for the audit, the vast majority of its funding has come from $6.7 million in donations from individuals or dark money groups who peddle allegations about massive fraud in the 2020 presidential election. In fact, recently disclosed Arizona Senate documents indicate that Donald Trump had expressed a personal interest in two of these groups, either to recommend to donors or to donate to them himself.
The pursuit by Cyber Ninjas of bizarre conspiracy theories has further undermined its own credibility. After commencing the audit in April, Cyber Ninjas undertook a variety of entirely unproductive efforts to find support for bizarre election fraud theories. These efforts included testing ballots for signs of bamboo to support the allegation that a large number of pro-Biden ballots were secretly shipped in from somewhere in Asia and examining ballots for watermarks on the theory that only valid ballots would contain them, whereas in fact Maricopa County did not use any watermarked paper for the election.

Surveillance tape breeds false fraud claims in Georgia

By ALI SWENSONDecember 4, 2020

Surveillance footage of ballot processing on election night in Atlanta is fueling a false social media narrative of “suitcases filled with ballots” hidden under a cloth-covered table and tallied without supervision, even as top state officials confirm election workers followed standard procedure.

The video showed regular ballot containers on wheels — not suitcases — and both a state investigator and an independent monitor observed counting until it was done for the night, finding no evidence of improper ballots, state and county officials said on Friday.

That hasn’t stopped President Donald Trump, his campaign, his lawyers and his supporters from sharing the video with false fraud accusations in a spate of Facebook and Twitter posts that have racked up millions of views in less than 24 hours.

Here’s a look at the facts around this viral video:

CLAIM: Poll workers and partisan observers were told to leave Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on election night, but four election workers stayed behind, pulled suitcases full of ballots out from under a table, and scanned them after hours without any supervision.

THE FACTS: The video doesn’t show evidence of fraud, much less the “SMOKING GUN” evidence that Trump’s legal team claims on social media.

No one told observers they had to leave, and both an independent monitor and an investigator oversaw the vote count, according to state and county officials. Confusion arose when election workers thought they were done for the night, but then were instructed to continue scanning ballots. But investigators who reviewed the entire surveillance tape confirmed it showed “normal ballot processing,” according to Gabriel Sterling, a top official in the secretary of state’s office.

The video, which shows clips of surveillance footage from a room where ballots were counted, began gaining traction online on Thursday after volunteer Trump attorney Jackie Pick presented it for state senators during a hearing at the state Capitol.

Pick claimed it showed a staff member telling partisan observers to leave the facility for the night about 10:30 p.m. After observers were “cleared out,” she said, four election workers stayed behind, pulled suitcases of ballots out from underneath a table, and counted them for two hours with no witnesses present.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Fulton County Elections Director Richard Barron refuted those claims on Friday, saying in a public meeting that no observers were ever told to leave the facility.

According to Barron, staff members who had been opening and flattening ballots for scanning started leaving the facility as their duties concluded.

Other election workers started to pack up, Sterling told The Associated Press in an interview. They put prepared ballots back in boxes and away under a table “to close out for the night.” Members of the media and Republican observers began to leave the building too.

Then, the supervisor onsite got a call from Barron, who instructed the team to continue scanning the ballots that had already been prepared. They pulled the same boxes of ballots back out, and resumed scanning, Sterling said.

“These aren’t magical ballots,” Sterling told the AP. “They didn’t show up out of some other room.”

Georgia law § 21-2-408 permits observers to stay in the room the whole time, but doesn’t require it for counting to take place.

After a short period when observers weren’t present, an independent state election board monitor arrived to oversee the scanning at 11:52 p.m., Barron said. A state investigator arrived at 12:15 a.m. Both individuals remained at the facility until the count concluded for the night, he said.

The Georgia secretary of state’s office said it was aware of the late-night counting, and confirmed that both its investigator and an independent monitor observed scanning “until it was halted for the night.”

The office said it had launched an investigation into why partisan poll observers left before scanning ended.

The president’s team is “intentionally misleading the public about what happened at State Farm Arena on election night,” Sterling tweeted Friday. “They had the whole video too and ignored the truth.”

But you believe the officials when they suggest that they "have no idea" why everyone left.

On top of that the Secretary of State website put out a release right after the meeting saying that Fulton County had stopped counting and had gone home for the night.

Apparently they have no idea how the SOS would have gotten such a belief either. Everyone but these three officials thought they were done counting and these three officials are the only ones telling the truth.

It was a momentous day for Trump, marking the culmination of an electoral defeat he had pushed desperately to overturn. Now a full year out of office — and five years removed from his own swearing-in — Trump is closing in on anniversaries that carry more legal than political significance.

The five-year statute of limitations to prosecute any alleged federal crimes he committed while in office, after all, is ticking away.

Trump's tumultuous first year as president featured a string of episodes that came under scrutiny in the Russia investigation, an inquiry in which Special Counsel Robert Mueller examined whether Trump obstructed justice.

In his more than 400-page final report, Mueller's special counsel team documented 10 episodes of possible obstruction of justice by Trump. Among them were Trump's efforts in early 2017 to pressure then-FBI Director James Comey to close an investigation into Michael Flynn, who at the time was national security advisor. Trump later fired Comey, setting in motion the events that led to Mueller's appointment as the special counsel in charge of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The special counsel's office examined not just that episode but also Trump's effort to have Mueller himself removed. Mueller declined to make a decision about whether Trump broke the law, in part because of the Justice Department's longstanding policy that sitting presidents cannot be charged with a federal crime. But, at a closely-watching congressional hearing, Mueller acknowledged that Trump could theoretically be charged with obstruction of justice after leaving office.

Charging an ex-president with a federal crime would be an unprecedented first in American history. Still, in the eyes of Trump's critics, the Mueller report provided a playbook for prosecuting him.

But the Justice Department has been silent as the five-year deadline nears.

Scott You will "literally" believe anything that Trump says.

I'm certain that Sleepy Joe Biden has lied because every president has lied.

Objective thinking is beyond your abilities on politics but I hope not in your personal life.
