The National Archives and Records Administration has asked the Justice Department to examine whether former President Donald Trump’s handling of White House records violated federal law, two administration officials told NBC News.
One official said it's unclear whether the DOJ would take up the request, saying that this is all very preliminary. The Washington Post was first to report on the National Archives’ request.
The Justice Department and National Archives declined requests for comment. A representative for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The request to the Justice Department came just days after the National Archives said that Trump had to return 15 boxes of documents that were improperly taken from the White House.

Recent announcements made include:
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said Wednesday the state will drop its indoor mask mandate and a requirement that businesses ask customers for proof of vaccination starting Thursday.
"At this time, we say it is the right decision to lift this mandate for indoor business, and let counties, cities and businesses to make their own decisions on what they want to do with respect to masks or the vaccination requirement," Hochul said, citing decline cases and hospitalizations.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) said Wednesday that he hopes to lift the mask mandate for indoor settings, with some exceptions, by the end of the month.
The plan, which Prizker is set to unveil later Wednesday, will reportedly not include an end to the indoor mask mandate in schools.
Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee (D) also announced Wednesday that the statewide mask mandate and vaccine proof policy for businesses and venues would end on Feb. 11. He plans to lift the statewide school indoor mask requirement on March 4.
"Thank you, Rhode Island for coming together during the winter surge by getting vaccinated, getting boosted, and wearing your mask indoors," McKee said.
Massachusetts' department of education, meanwhile, said Wednesday it will lift its school mask mandate on Feb. 28.
"With Massachusetts a national leader in vaccinating kids, combined with our robust testing programs, it is time to lift the mask mandate in schools and give students and staff a sense of normalcy after dealing with enormous challenges over the past two years," Governor Charlie Baker (R) said in a statement.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) announced earlier this week that his state is unwinding school mask mandates that have been in place for the entire pandemic.
"We are not going to manage COVID to zero," tweeted Gov. Phil Murphy. "We have to learn how to live with COVID as we move from a pandemic to an endemic phase of this virus."What we’re hearing: Murphy knows he has to sell this plan to a lot of nervous parents. We're told he plans to watch the data from schools every day and is banking on his past willingness to react to data. But his top goal is to restore a sense of normalcy.
California health officials said Monday that the state will lift its indoor mask mandate after Feb. 15.
"Since California's peak during the Omicron surge, the state has experienced a 65% decrease in case rates," the California Department of Public Health said in a statement.
Delaware Gov. John Carney (D) also announced Monday that the state will lift its mask mandate for indoor settings on Feb. 11, while masking requirements for K-12 schools and childcare facilities will end on March 31.
"We’re in a much better place than we were several weeks ago in the middle of the Omicron surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations," Carney said.
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) announced during a news briefing Monday afternoon that the state's mask mandate for schools and childcare centers will end Feb. 28.
"The biggest difference I can tell you is the fact that we now have the tools to keep ourselves safe," Lamont said. Both governors noted that school districts and local communities will be able to consider local mask mandates.

Axios. If he is convicted of a crime, he can't be elected President, in any way
Even if the Republicans nominate him, the Chief Justice Roberts would not have him pledge allegiance to the Constitution.
State of play: Last month, Trump had to return 15 boxes of documents that he took to Mar-a-Lago instead of handing over to the agency.
The boxes contained correspondence between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, which he once referred to as "love letters," and a letter from former President Obama, per the Washington Post.Archives officials suspected that the former president may have violated laws regarding his handling of official documents, including classified ones, and contacted the Justice Department for a potential investigation. It is not yet clear whether the Justice Department will investigate, per the Post.
The DOJ did not immediately respond to Axios' requests for comment. NARA said it does not comment on ongoing or potential investigations.
The big picture: The National Archives last month released Trump's records to the House Jan. 6 Select Committee, including documents that the former president sought to shield.
Trump's documents — and the fact that he took them to Mar-a-Lago — may jeopardize the Presidential Records Act, which requires that presidential records be immediately transferred to the national archivist when a president leaves office.Trump's representatives have told the National Archives "that they are continuing to search for additional presidential records that belong to the National Archives."
This is poll you won't post here.
Normally, taking a position against the former President would be the death knell in Republican politics, but data shows that this looks to be the rare case where Pence is unlikely to face much wrath from the base.
(CNN) Former Vice President Mike Pence has caused an uproar by saying he did not have the lawful ability to overturn the 2020 election results on January 6, 2021. Pence has argued correctly, according to almost every single legal scholar, that his role as president of the Senate was largely ceremonial during the congressional count of electoral votes. "President Trump is wrong," Pence declared last week.
Take a look at a recent poll from CBS News/YouGov . The question it asked was simple: After states certify their election results, should Congress have the ability to overturn those results or must they accept them? The vast majority of Americans, 75%, believe that Congress should have to accept those results. Just 25% disagreed.
When we examine the results by party, it becomes clear that Pence is probably standing on firm ground with all sectors of the electorate. Democrats (81%), Republicans (70%), voters who supported President Joe Biden (86%) and, yes, voters who went for Trump (73%) all agree that Congress should have to accept the results that were certified by the states.
The fact that there is uniform agreement here might be why there looks to be bipartisan support for clarifying the Electoral Count Act of 1887 , which tells Congress what it can and can't do with the electoral votes sent by the states. We heard GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, who has Trump's endorsement in his 2022 Senate reelection bid, voice his support for Pence's decision.

Archives Asks Justice Department to Investigate Trump

“The National Archives and Records Administration has asked the Justice Department to examine Donald Trump’s handling of White House records, sparking discussions among federal law enforcement officials about whether they should investigate the former president FOR A POSSIBLE CRIME,” the Washington Post reports.
“The referral from the National Archives came amid recent revelations that officials recovered 15 boxes of materials from the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence that weren’t handed back in to the government as they should have been, and that Trump had turned over other White House records that had been torn up.
“Archives officials suspected Trump had possibly VIOLATED LAWS CONCERNING THE HANDLING OF GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS — INCLUDING THOSE THAT MIGHT BE CONSIDERED
CLASSIFIEDL — AND REACHED OUT TO THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.”

Signs of Republican resistance to Trump suggest his once vise-like grip on the party could be slipping
David Jackson, USA TODAY - 4h ago
WASHINGTON – Donald Trump's hold on the Republican Party may or may not be slipping – but it is being tested.
In the past week alone, prominent Republicans – including Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell and Trump's own former vice president, Mike Pence – have pushed back on the ex-president, especially after allies persuaded the party organization to censure two GOP lawmakers over a Jan. 6 investigation.
Recent polls show a softening of Trump's numbers, though he remains the top-rated Republican and is certainly the most well-funded.
The result could split the Republican party, with ever more fervent Trump followers on one side and those disenchanted by the former president on the other, complicating GOP efforts to take back control of Congress and pass their own policy priorities.
"Every day, thousands of Trump supporters decide to move on," pollster Frank Luntz said. "But every day, the remaining Trump backers increase their intensity."
That intensity, he said, will keep Trump on top of the GOP – "for now."
Can Trump run for President from prison?
This is a classic authoritarian philosophy. Replace the leadership in business, government and even the free press, with supporters of leadership, no matter who it is across all states. We are Marxists!
In The Authoritarian Moment, Ben Shapiro warns of the rise of censorship, voter fraud, fake news, and other leftist tactics for seizing control. According to Shapiro, these authoritarian abuses have been especially prevalent since the start of Obama's second term, because it was in his second presidential campaign that Obama made the fateful decision to radicalize the Democrat party and tie its future to a coalition of so-called marginalized or minority groups.
Shapiro prefers the term "authoritarian," but he might just as well have used totalitarian, dictatorial, fascist, Stalinist, or any number of other terms. It is clear that something very disturbing is afoot in America that we have not seen in the past, and that the progressive left, intent on exercising and holding on to power, is behind it.
It is also clear from Shapiro's analysis that progressives are the enemies of ordinary Americans and that progressive values are opposed in every way to the thinking of decent, hardworking Americans who love family, country, and God. These decent citizens are hated by the left simply because they are decent and refuse to participate in the anti-capitalist, anti-democratic, and anti-white woke culture.
Unfortunately, progressives have had the advantage. They are fervent, almost religious (or pseudo-religious) in their commitment to change. They comprise a small, cohesive group similar to the Bolsheviks in revolutionary Russia, and, like those revolutionaries, they believe that the righteousness of their cause justifies any sort of behavior ("by any means necessary," as they say). And, because they despise Middle America and its citizenry, they are motivated by the strongest of emotions: hate.
Nothing like this can be said of ordinary Americans, who still believe in fair play and following the law, and that is why so many key institutions have fallen into the hands of progressives, including government, corporations, education, the federal bureaucracy (including elements within the FBI and IRS), entertainment and sports, and even the church. As Shapiro has it, ordinary Americans are not focused on the culture war to begin with, and when they are, they are too polite to object. They lack the fanaticism and ruthlessness of the left, and so the left has been winning.
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2022/02/our_authoritarian_moment.html
The November elections will be a good start, but even with Republicans in control of Congress, that leaves Biden in the White House for another two years, and it leaves an anonymous bureaucracy, most of it left-leaning, in control of nearly all of our government agencies and departments. And it leaves radicals in charge of our schools and colleges, and cowardly CEOs too frightened to oppose the extortion of radical leaders, and even scientists too afraid to speak out on matters like climate change and biological sex differences. It leaves us with a mainstream media establishment still in the hands of mindless leftists spewing the party line on everything from national defense to abortion to so-called gay rights. It leaves mayors, judges, state legislatures, governors, and bureaucracies at the state and local levels still in the hands of the left. And all of this progressive leviathan is intent on transforming America into what amounts to a fascist state.
What Shapiro has amply demonstrated is that an aspiring authoritarian does not need all his supporters to enlist in his personality cult. It is enough that they simply go along and direct all their animus at the opposing party. The road to despotism is paved with hackery.
So, are the free crack pipes being distributed in lieu of the 'Made in China' Chinese Sneeze test kits, or in addition to?
I'm just trying to stay current on the idiocy pouring out of the Brandon/Cum-Allah regime.
And let's at least be honest - the free crack pipe thing was Hunter's idea, wasn't it?
They believe the government is trying to arrest anyone who disagrees with the Democrats, not trying to keep us safe from domestic terrorism.
That's exactly correct. The first sign was the designation of parents with children in public schools being branded as domestic terrorists by the DOJ as their written guidance reveals.
The next is the recent DHS memo.
I will give the regime credit for putting it in writing. At least we know where we stand.
If the goal of the left really IS a hot civil war, then all of the above counts as tinder, and all we need at this point is the spark.
The question is - which leftist ass hat will be dumb enough to light it?

President Joe Biden continues standing by the mask mandates advised by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), even as Democrat governors announce their decisions to lift them.
...
The White House on Tuesday signaled they would not be lifting mask mandates, indicating that instead Biden would follow the advice of the CDC.
“The CDC moves at the pace of data and science,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during the daily press briefing.
But the White House did not condemn Democrats for bailing on the mask mandates and the “science” behind the CDC mandates, despite repeated condemnations of Republican governors who lifted mandates months ago.
“We don’t look at it through that prism,” Psaki said, when asked if the White House was concerned Democrats were “throwing the science away” by lifting the mandates.
“[O]ur hope is that states, leaders will look at the science and data about what’s going on, they’ll make decisions about local school districts,” Psaki continued.
On social media on Tuesday evening, the White House promoted Biden’s usual plea for Americans to wear masks.

Conservative figures have launched an online furor this week, claiming that the government planned to spend $30 million on pipes for smoking crack cocaine.
The heightened concern came months after the Department of Health and Human Services announced a federal grant for local programs that provide myriad “harm reduction” tools, or services that minimize the risks associated with drug use, including distributing drug paraphernalia such as clean needles. Republicans seized on “crack pipes,” causing the phrase to trend on Twitter on Tuesday, the latest in continued resistance from the GOP against harm-reduction techniques at a time when people are dying of drug overdoses at record rates in the United States.
FAQ: What to know about the omicron variant of the coronavirus
“It’s really disappointing that Republicans are trying to win political points by putting lives at risk and creating misinformation about harm reduction,” said Jamie Favaro, executive director of NEXT Distro, one of the groups that applied for the grants. If given the funds, NEXT Distro would spend funds to distribute the overdose-reversing drug naloxone and clean syringes in Georgia, Louisiana and Nevada.
Amid mounting outrage fueled in part by Fox News and other conservative outlets, here’s what to know about the federal grant:
What is the grant for?
In a first-of-its-kind federal grant to be distributed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a branch of HHS, dozens of organizations across the country would be able to spend the money over three years on a preapproved list of resources, including referrals to treatment, infectious-disease testing kits, condoms, and vaccinations for hepatitis A and B.
Also on the list: “safe smoking kits.” Typically, such kits include a rubber mouthpiece to prevent cuts and burns, brass screens to filter contaminants and disinfectant wipes, according to Harm Reduction International.

While President Trump was in office, staff in the White House residence periodically discovered wads of printed paper clogging a toilet — and believed the president had flushed pieces of paper, Maggie Haberman scoops in her forthcoming book, "Confidence Man."
Why it matters: The revelation by Haberman, whose coverage as a New York Times White House correspondent was followed obsessively by Trump, adds a vivid new dimension to his lapses in preserving government documents. Axios was provided an exclusive first look at some of her reporting.

Haberman reports Trump has told people that since leaving office, he has remained in contact with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un — whose "love letters," as Trump once called them, were among documents the National Archives retrieved from Mar-a-Lago.

Zoom out: The news of White House toilet-flushing comes as the National Archives has reportedly asked the Biden Justice Department to examine Trump's handling of White House records, amid the congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol.
The Washington Post reports that National Archives officials "suspected Trump had possibly violated laws concerning the handling of government documents." The National Archives later retrieved 15 boxes from Mar-a-Lago, The Post reported.
Archives officials found possible classified material in the returned boxes, The New York Times learned.
While in office, the former president blithely flouted the Presidential Records Act, which required him to preserve written communications concerning his official duties.
Trump routinely tore up documents and after leaving office brought substantial written materials back to Mar-a-Lago.
A Trump spokesman didn't respond to a request for comment about the plumbing matter.
“It’s really disappointing that Republicans are trying to win political points by putting lives at risk and creating misinformation about harm reduction,” said Jamie Favaro, executive director of NEXT Distro, one of the groups that applied for the grants. Thanks for proving my earlier point on this topic. This has nothing to do with helping addicts. It has everything to do with helping leftists become executive directors of grant-funded programs.
I'm sure Jamie Favaro is very well compensated with our tax dollars. And the continuation of her six figure salary is much more important than saving the next Junkie Floyd from an overdose.
Thanks for proving my earlier point on this topic.

Let’s play a game. When did the following headlines run?
“Documents Improperly Taken from White House to Archives.”
“National Archives had to retrieve White House records” from private property.
If you didn’t know any better, you might think they were from the 2016 presidential campaign.
Remember when, in October 2016, House Republicans launched a series of hearings attacking the then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her emails?
Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, who now serves as the lead Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, fumed that “Hillary Clinton gets treated different than anybody else.” Another member of the panel stated, “This is the reason for this hearing – the sloppiness, the messiness, and the ability for a secretary of State to do something that shouldn’t have been done.” Another Republican weighed in, “I want to know about the destruction – the hammering of BlackBerrys.” The panel’s chairman at the time, Jason Chaffetz, who can now be seen espousing self-righteous nonsense of Fox News, attacked Clinton, “The secretary had a choice. She chose to not abide by the rules of the State Department.”
Taping Trump's documents back together
And yet, here we are, in 2022 and we have:
The New York Times: “Trump Gives Documents Improperly Taken from White House to Archives.”
The Washington Post: “National Archives had to retrieve Trump White House records from Mar-a-Lago.”
And just for good measure, we have this gem from 2018 via Politico, “Meet the guys who tape Trump’s papers back together,” and this piece from The Times in 2019: “Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Use Private Accounts for Official Business, Their Lawyer Says.”
Former President Donald Trump at a rally in Florence, Ariz. on Jan. 15, 2022.
Former President Donald Trump at a rally in Florence, Ariz. on Jan. 15, 2022.
That’s right, from the same forces that brought you the chorus of “Hillary’s emails” and the smash hit “Lock Her Up” comes a new spin on an old song, “Do As I Say, Not As I Do.”
As reported by The Post, “The National Archives and Records Administration last month retrieved 15 boxes of documents and other items from former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence because the material should have been turned over to the agency when he left the White House, Archives officials said Monday. … The Archives has struggled to cope with a president who flouted document retention requirements and frequently ripped up official documents, leaving hundreds of pages taped back together – or some that arrived at the Archives still in pieces.”
Alexander Vindman: Why I’m seeking accountability from Trump allies in court
The Times reporting added, “More recently, in response to the House select committee investigation into the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, Mr. Trump’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, provided hundreds of pages of documents, some of which came from his personal cellphone. The committee said it had questions about why Mr. Meadows had used a personal cellphone, a Signal account and two personal Gmail accounts to conduct official business, and whether he had properly turned over all records from those accounts to the National Archives.”
Bombshell revelations
Given these bombshell revelations, coupled with their concern for federal government record-keeping compliance, you would think Republicans would be foaming at the mouth, chanting “Lock Him Up” and calling for an immediate series of hearings and subpoenas to be issued to anyone who was a part of the Trump White House.
And yet, nothing. Crickets. Silence.
Bombshell revelations
Given these bombshell revelations...

LOL.
Senator McConnell has TDS.
Here is the sentence containing the Democrat-propagated lie that the Capitol Hill intrusion, January 6, 2021, was a "violent insurrection" repeated mindlessly by the blundering Republican leader in the U.S. Senate for the New York Times to blare out:
"It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election, from one administration to the next. That's what it was."
That's what it was not! No one tried to prevent "the peaceful transfer of power." The January 6 demonstrators -- by far most of them -- were concerned about the wrongful transfer of power.
But it wasn't enough for McConnell to identify with the radical Democrats who are weaponizing "Jan. 6" in a desperate bid to hold Congress in next November's elections. He had to defend the vicious attacks by the turncoats on Republicans, declaring Cheney and Kinzinger merely have different views that most GOP officials, and that it was not the purview of the RNC to censure such views.
What rot. Only an experienced pol paralyzed by hatred for Donald Trump could spout such nonsense.

Consumer prices in January surged more than expected over the past 12 months, indicating a worsening outlook for inflation and cementing the likelihood of substantial interest rate hikes this year.
The consumer price index, which measures the costs of dozens of everyday consumer goods, rose 7.5% compared to a year ago, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
That compared to Dow Jones estimates of 7.2% for the closely watched inflation gauge. It was the highest reading since February 1982.
Stripping out volatile gas and grocery costs, the CPI increased 6%, compared to the estimate of 5.9%.
The monthly rates also came in hotter than expected, with headline and core CPI both rising 0.6%, compared to the estimates for a 0.4% increase on both measures.
Core inflation rose at its fastest level since August 1982.
On a percentage basis, fuel oil rose the most in January, surging 9.5% as part of a 46.5% year-over-year increase. Energy costs overall were up 0.9% for the month and 27% on the year.
Vehicle costs, which have been one of the biggest inflation contributors since it began surging higher in the spring of 2021, were flat for new models and up 1.5% for used cars and trucks in January. The two categories have posted respective increases of 12.2% and 40.5% over the past 12 months.
This is breaking news. Please check back here for updates.

High inflation is the dark side of the unusually strong economy, posing a challenge to the Federal Reserve as it tries to quell rising prices without damping growth.
“This is not encouraging news for the Fed in its battle to get inflation heading back towards the 2% target,” said James Knightley, chief international economist at ING. “Rate hikes will do nothing to resolve supply chain strains and worker shortages, but they can contribute to taking some of the steam out of the economy and allow demand and supply to start moving towards a better balance, at the expense of weaker growth.”

U.S. Inflation Accelerates to 40-Year High

U.S. inflation accelerated to a 7.5% annual rate in January, rising to a new four-decade high, the Wall Street Journal reports.

“That marked the biggest gain since February 1982 and was even higher than the Wall Street estimate.”

Threats Against Lawmakers Surge
February 10, 2022 at 7:51 am EST By Taegan Goddard 45 Comments
New York Times:
“The threats have come in almost every conceivable combination:
Republicans threatening Democrats,
Democrats threatening Republicans,
Republicans threatening Republicans.
"Many of them, the review showed, were fueled by forces that have long dominated politics, including deep partisan divisions and a media landscape that stokes resentment.
“But they surged during Mr. Trump’s time in office and in its aftermath, as the former president’s own violent language fueled a mainstreaming of menacing political speech and lawmakers used charged words and imagery to describe the stakes of the political moment.”

“But what started as a rally of Canadian truckers angry at cross-border vaccine mandates has fast become a magnet for far-right grievances around the world."
More from Politico:
“Canada’s truckers have paralyzed Ottawa and unsettled the country’s politics over vaccine and mask mandates. Now Americans want in on the action.”

One early scoop from the book via Axios:
While President Trump was in office, staff in the White House residence periodically discovered wads of printed paper clogging a toilet — and believed the president had flushed pieces of paper.”
Also interesting:
“This is the book Trump fears most… Several advisers were unhappy about his decision to talk to her as part of his marathon conversations with book authors at Mar-a-Lago. But they concluded he couldn’t help himself and couldn’t be stopped.”

Build Back Never?
February 10, 2022 at 6:48 am EST By Taegan Goddard 28 Comments
Politico:
“Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer vowed in December that the chamber will ‘vote on a revised version of the House-passed Build Back Better Act — and we will keep voting on it until we get something done.’ That’s not the strategy at the moment.
“Instead, the Senate is now in a long cooling-off period. Democrats are turning to fixing the Postal Service, sexual misconduct reform, spending bills, a Supreme Court vacancy, the Violence Against Women Act and possibly changing the Electoral Count Act and sanctioning Russia. Dealing with those items could take a couple of months or longer, pushing the Senate closer and closer to the midterms. Most Democrats concede they could not revive a tax and spending bill before April, and the final deadline is Sept. 30, when Democrats’ existing powers to push the defunct bill past a filibuster expire.”

Fed Nominees Pledge to Close Revolving Door

“Three of President Biden’s nominees to the Federal Reserve committed to lawmakers that, if confirmed to their posts, they would not work in financial services for four years after leaving the Fed,” the New York Times reports.
“The pledge comes amid growing concern about the revolving door between Washington and Wall Street.”

Trump Says Return of Documents Was ‘No Big Deal’
February 10, 2022 at 9:29 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment
Former President Donald Trump responded to recent reports about his handling of White House records, saying he’s working with the National Archives “to help formally preserve the Trump Legacy,” The Hill reports.
Said Trump:
“The papers were given easily and without conflict and on a very friendly basis, which is different from the accounts being drawn up by the Fake News Media. In fact, it was viewed as routine and ‘no big deal.'”
Trump also pushed back against reports that documents were regularly found flushed down the toilet, calling the claim “categorically untrue and simply made up by a reporter in order to get publicity for a mostly fictitious book.”
WELL, IF TRUE, IT WOULD DEFINITELY BE "A BIG DEAL" AS IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO RECOVER DOCUMENTS FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET.
IF it is true that "staff in the White House residence periodically discovered wads of printed paper clogging a toilet — and believed the president had flushed pieces of paper” -- would those staff now be willing to talk?
Will Trump shout, "FAKE STAFF! FAKE NEWS!!!????"
ManOman, it's impossible to imagine what investigators will yet uncover.
Election Denier to Run for Wisconsin Governor
February 10, 2022 at 10:06 am EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment
Wisconsin state Rep. Timothy Ramthun (R), “who was disciplined by the Assembly leader over false election claims and who has repeatedly called on his colleagues to take the impossible action of overturning Wisconsin’s 2020 presidential election results, appears to be running for governor,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
“A Ramthun entry into the race would scramble the Republican primary for governor. Ramthun has been praised publicly and privately by former President Donald Trump for his push to undo the 2020 election result, a legally impossible task.”
All sing after me:
"To dream the impossible dream,
To tout the impossible task..."
Loyalty tests are going through the Republican party.
USA Today: “In the past week alone, prominent Republicans – including Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell and Trump’s own former vice president, Mike Pence – have pushed back on the ex-president, especially after allies persuaded the party organization to censure two GOP lawmakers over a Jan. 6 investigation.”
“Recent polls show a softening of Trump’s numbers, though he remains the top-rated Republican and is certainly the most well-funded.”
“The result could split the Republican party, with ever more fervent Trump followers on one side and those disenchanted by the former president on the other, complicating GOP efforts to take back control of Congress and pass their own policy priorities.”
If the former President Obama toilet gate had happened after the election, President Trump would have prosecuted him, and rrb would be shouting treason and execution.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Wednesday said the rioters who stormed the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, were not engaging in "legitimate discourse."
"I think anybody, we all know this, that entered this building, that rioted, is not legitimate discourse," McCarthy said.
His comments came in response to a question regarding the Republican National Committee's (RNC) resolution last week that formally censured Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).
The resolution criticized the GOP lawmakers for taking part in the House select committee's investigation of the Jan. 6 riot and accused the pair of "participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse."
The walls are crumbling across lines.

What increase by the Fed do you see ?
1, 25 basis points
2, 50 basis points
I remember that after Katrina when New Orleans and state/local leadership was over their heads. Bush appointed General Onery and the Army logistics unit.
If there's anyone that knows how to shelter and feed large numbers of people, it's the US Army.

Another tone deaf answer from Psaki. You still need to eat and buy basic household supplies. I believe you need money to obtain them.
(CNN)The Senate passed one of the largest workplace reforms in decades, freeing victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault to seek justice in court when they had previously been bound to a closed, often-secretive legal proceeding commonly used in these types of cases by employers.
The bipartisan legislation was approved by voice vote. It now heads to President Joe Biden's desk for his signature, and the White House has expressed full support for the measure.
Earlier this week, the bill was approved by an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives, by 335-97.
If the Fed follows the usual playbook then it will be 50 basis points.
Inflation remained high in January, earnings continued to fall
Inflation remained high in January:
Because of this, real hourly earnings were down yet again:
Real hourly earnings fell throughout all of 2021 and are continuing to fall in 2022.
That's why we need to increase the minimum wage

Yep.
Same with the pop-up hospital at the Javits Center Trump had the Army Corp of Engineers set up at the start of covid.
It went unused because like a typical leftist, Cuomo had to politicize the whole thing.

EVGENIA NOVOZHENINA/Reuters
The 15-year-old figure-skating sensation whose unprecedented quad jumps powered Russia to the team figure skating gold at the Beijing Winter Olympics was reported today to have failed a drug test before competition.
The report from the Inside the Games news website naming Kamila Valieva as the athlete at the center of the latest Russian doping scandal came after the International Olympic Committee twice delayed the formal medal ceremony at which she and her five Russian teammates were to be presented with their gold medals.
There was no official confirmation of the failed test, nor details on what substance was involved, but Russian media said it was not performance-enhancing but “used to treat a cardiological problem.” RBC News named it as trimetazidine, which is used to prevent angina attacks but is considered a stimulant by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The failed drug test makes it all but certain that the Russians will be stripped of their gold medal, which would go instead to their American rivals.

Stephen Miller, formerly an adviser to President Donald Trump, has argued that using race as a factor to allocate scarce coronavirus treatments discriminates against Whites people. (Emil Lippe for The Washington Post)
By Salvador Rizzo
Today at 10:53 a.m. EST
When Minnesota and Utah health officials started using race as a factor to determine who would get scarce covid-19 treatments, they were hailed for their efforts to bridge the pandemic’s deadly racial divide.
FAQ: What to know about the omicron variant of the coronavirus
Now those officials are center stage of the nation’s latest battle over race, identity and equity, after they rolled back their policies under pressure from conservatives and a group led by Stephen Miller, a top adviser to former president Donald Trump.
Miller’s fledgling group, America First Legal, also is suing New York in federal court to get it to remove race as one of many selection criteria for outpatient antiviral treatments, saying the state’s policy discriminates against Whites despite data showing that most of the medicines go to people in that group. On Monday, the group filed legal papers seeking to declare all non-Hispanic Whites in New York a legal class facing urgent harm from the state’s health guidance.

Misinformation about these policies — relayed in Miller’s lawsuit, Trump’s remarks at a recent rally and on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News — has energized the conservative base and contributed to the cancellation of some of the policies, experts said.
Hospitalization and death rates from covid-19 have cumulatively been higher for minorities throughout the pandemic. Minnesota and Utah officials say these racial disparities remain concerning, even if the states no longer use race as one of the factors to help decide which patients take priority when outpatient antiviral treatments are scarce.
Investigators Find Gaps in Records of Trump’s Calls
February 10, 2022 at 11:33 am EST By Taegan Goddard 45 Comments
“The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol has discovered gaps in official White House telephone logs from the day of the riot, finding few records of calls by President Donald Trump from critical hours when investigators know that he was making them,” the New York Times reports.
“Investigators have not uncovered evidence that any official records were tampered with or deleted, and it is well known that Mr. Trump used his personal cellphone, and those of his aides, routinely to talk with aides, congressional allies and outside confidants.
“But the sparse call records are the latest major obstacle to the panel’s central mission:
recreating what Mr. Trump was doing behind closed doors during crucial moments of the assault on Congress by a mob of his supporters.”

Only to assholes like you desperate to make something out of nothing, pederast.
I'm unclear as to why your team is so completely obsessed with Trump.
You beat him in 2020 with 81 MILLION VOTES in the most secure election in the history of the known universe, yet you're working overtime to get him disqualified from running again so your stellar candidate won't have to face the same guy he beat so handily last time.
Now why would that be pederast???
LMAO.

Scarce coronavirus treatments? How can this be? Brandon has assured us since his campaign that he had a plan to "stop Covid in it's tracks." And since the feds are controlling the resources, I find it hard to believe that they're 'scarce.'
Hospitalization and death rates from covid-19 have cumulatively been higher for minorities throughout the pandemic.
Would this be due to "scarce resources" of because a large number of minorities find themselves ass-deep in comorbidities?
I strongly suspect it's the latter.

I suspect minorities are more pre-dispose to the disease than other people. Minority obesity is a well documented fact. There unwillingness to be vaccinated is also a factor in catching the disease.
Bottom line: minorities are more likely to get infected and suffer hospitalizations and death from COVID-19 over and above the regular population.
