The state of the union address is his best chance of winning in November 2022.

He is not going to satisfy the left wing of the Democratic party...

A little more than a month ago, President Biden’s first formal State of the Union address looked as if it might be a relatively mundane speech trying to reset his crippled domestic agenda amid sagging popularity at home.

Now, with a war in Europe and a historic Supreme Court nomination at hand, Biden’s speech Tuesday night in the House chamber is shaping up as a high-profile moment to deliver a message to a global audience trying to isolate President Vladimir Putin following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

While Democrats still expect a large focus on domestic politics, they acknowledge that the Ukraine crisis has provided a chance for Biden to rise to his 2020 campaign promises of being a seasoned statesman who would unite our allies.

“There’s no doubt that what’s happening in Ukraine will feature prominently in the State of the Union address,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who met with Europeans earlier this month at the Munich Security Conference, said Friday. “One of the reasons that the country supported President Biden was his ability to bring together our allies, to support NATO.”

Biden’s popularity remained strong well into last summer, but began a precipitous fall with the deadly end to the U.S. pullout of Afghanistan in August. Two coronavirus variants have complicated a pandemic Biden had hoped to end, while the president’s legislative agenda ran up against Democratic infighting.

In his speech, Biden has a chance to reclaim some of the lost mantle of global leader. Putin’s moves so far have largely united NATO allies who had spent the previous four years embattled over President Donald Trump’s insults to friends and his public embrace of Putin.

The speech will also serve as a clear attempt to move beyond a domestic legislative agenda that, despite initial successes, turned downright disastrous over the holidays.

I think that he will mention that the pandemic crisis is ending and life will be back to normal like it was before the covid-19 virus, and remind them that he is the President who is responsible for the recovery from the economic crisis..

His administration has created more jobs in one year in history. He will not mention the BBB failure .

Unlike you Scott, I think he is a very seasoned player..... You think that Putin out thought him.

But the invasion has turned into a disaster for Putin. And again he has United our NATO allies, in unprecedented ways, Germany is going to send hundreds of anti tank weapons...

THIS IS GOING TO BE ONE GREAT STATE OF THE UNION MESSAGE!

I'm looking ahead not backwards like you and the ridiculous Sleepy Joe rhetoric you got from Trump during the campaign he lost in a historically high turnout election.

If he doesn't open up a post about the State of the union address, we will prevail without it

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said in new remarks on Saturday that he had spoken with the leaders of Britain, Poland, Turkey and several other nations as he sought to rally an “antiwar coalition” against Russia.

Mr. Zelensky, who has given a series of impromptu speeches broadcast on social media since the invasion began on Thursday, said on Twitter that he had spoken with Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain about “new decisions to enhance the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army.” He also said he discussed “concrete assistance” with the leaders of Georgia, the Czech Republic and Poland.

In a speech, Mr. Zelensky briefly described his talks with Prime Minister Mario Draghi of Italy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey. He said that he and Mr. Erdogan had discussed the importance of barring Russian warships from entering the Black Sea, on Ukraine’s southern coast.

Mr. Zelensky has for days called on Western nations to impose punishing sanctions on Russia and to send support to Ukraine’s forces. The United States and the European Union announced new sanctions on Russian elites, exports and financial institutions, and on Saturday the German government said it would send anti-tank weapons and surface-to-air missiles.

In his remarks, Mr. Zelensky continued to praise Ukraine’s resistance to Russian forces around the country.

“The world has seen Ukrainians are powerful, Ukrainians are brave,” he said. “We will fight as long as it takes to liberate the country.”

Mr. Zelensky has remained in Ukraine as Russian forces fight to take the capital. The U.S. State Department said in a statement that American officials were aware of his location and in contact with him, and that they would “continue to provide support to him and the democratically elected government of Ukraine.”
