More and more Democratic civil war infighting!

Schumer faces brewing war and progressives ramp up primary threats
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has a brewing civil war on his hands as Democratic activists turn up the volume on talk about challenging Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) and Joe Manchin (W.Va.) in future Democratic primaries. More centrist members of Schumer’s caucus want to move past the messy internal battles over President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda and filibuster reform, two high-priority issues where Manchin and Sinema stood apart from the rest of the caucus.
But liberal lawmakers and many Democratic activists are still fuming over the failures to pass a sweeping climate and social spending bill or voting rights legislation — and the roles Manchin and Sinema played. Schumer surprised some colleagues last week when he declined to say whether he would support Sinema or Manchin in a future primary and instead sidestepped the question.

While some on the left are trying to pretend that the recent censoring of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger is some sort of big deal, it appears that this is little more than projection.  Cheney is not likely to survive a primary challenge and Kinzinger has already dropped out of the 2022 race and will not run for reelection. For the most part, these are two people who are literally leaving Congress and arguably have left the Party. Unlike Manchin and Sinema, whom Democrats censored but also are quite dependant on, these two are not necessary for the Republican Party.

There is nothing new about the fact that there have been, are currently, and will always be never-Trumpers in the the broader conservative coalition. Many of these never-Trumpers have become irrelevant in the new order, mainly for not accepting the change from the kindler gentler losing politics of someone like Mitt Romney towards a fight fire with fire attitude that the GOP need to get down in the mud and wrestle with the Democrats (who have long been willing to get dirty).

For many people on the Right, the main appeal of someone like Trump was his willingness to get dirty, willingness to take on the MSM (rather than try to appease it), and ultimately the fact that he won in 2016 when almost anyone else in the GOP would have not had the attitude to do what he did. Liberals hate it, but by criticizing it, they are technically criticizing a dog eat dog anything goes style of politics that has become the bedrock of the Democratic Party.

The fact of the matter is that never Trumpers are not a danger to the 2022 or 2024 election. But the current attacks from the left on the moderates of the Party is a big threat, especially at a time when so many Americans are moving against that liberal tide.

Five years ago you were claiming that the election in Minnesota was fraud.

Whenever you have a difference between multiple studies, watch carefully for the wording. In Minnesota (in 2012) most violations of voting laws were misdemeanors or gross misdemeanor. So it's more than possible that 260 people were either convicted or awaiting trial, but only 29 were "convicted of a felony". Moreover, their suggestion that when the original study reported the number of convicted felons who voted (which was only part of the original study) - that some of them did not have record of felonies, or had had rights restored, doesn't suggest (just implies) that all of them or even a significant portion of them fit that bill. First, they could have had gross misdemeanors (which would make them illegible - but not felons). So again, a semantic manner of disputing something, that quite frankly does not quantify any degree to which these exceptions were actual.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Also... in Minnesota -it turns out that ignorance of the law is a legitimate excuse. In order to convict someone, you have to prove that they understood that they were not supposed to vote. All someone has to do is claim they were not aware that they were voting illegally, and the case is dropped.

First son Hunter Biden reportedly had such a strong relationship with a Xi regime-linked Chinese businessman that he dubbed him the "Superchairman," according to Goverment Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer.

Schweizer, author of the new book "Red Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win", said in an interview airing Sunday on "Life, Liberty & Levin" that Biden, 51, was able to earn large sums of money due in part to his well-connected, then-vice president father.

Citing his book, Schweizer said the Biden family benefited from Chinese figures to the tune of tens of millions of dollars in recent decades.

Host Mark Levin asked Schweizer how apparent it is that Chinese Communist Party-linked figures made it "part of their mission" to invest in Bidens due to Joe Biden's long political career and influence.

"I think there's no question. We spent more than a year investigating ‘Red Handed,' and one of the most startling things we uncovered is the simple fact that the Biden family, while he was vice president of the United States and continuing when he became president, received some $31 million from Chinese individuals who are linked to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence," Schweizer claimed.

Just because Trump’s talking points around the 2020 election and the Republican Party’s embrace of them aren’t exactly unprecedented, that doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous, Keyssar said.

The polarization of the two parties, and their dominance in state legislatures, has emboldened some places to propose laws targeting voter fraud — though there was no evidence of fraud in the 2020 election — which can have the real-world effect of making it more difficult for disenfranchised communities, including Black people and those in poverty, to vote.

Furthermore, Keyssar said, the constant effort to delegitimize the election does serve to negate the peaceful means of changing power, which could portend further violence in one form or another. “If you discredit the mechanism of elections,” he said, “then what are you left with? Force.”

It's well known that he read the book about Hitler years before he got into business. He has lied thousands of times. This might be when he publicly said that election was stolen...the big lie.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence that Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels coined the term "Big Lie." According to the supposed quote, Goebbels said that if you tell "a lie big enough" and regularly repeat it, "people will eventually come to believe it." That said, Adolf Hitler actually did use the phrase "big lie" — but not to describe his own propaganda strategy. In a darkly ironic case of psychological projection, he came up with the expression to defame the Jewish community.

"In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility," Hitler wrote in "Mein Kampf," his 1925 autobiographical manifesto.

Just like millions of Germans believed the big lie.

February 6, 2022 at 10:39 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 20 Comments

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) told ABC News that former President Donald Trump accidentally revealed he incited the January 6 Capitol riot to intimidate Mike Pence and Congress into overturning the election.

Said Christie:
“Let’s face it. Let’s call it what it is. January 6 was a riot that was incited by Donald Trump in an effort to intimidate Mike Pence and the Congress into doing exactly what he said in his own words last week:
Overturn the election.”

He added:
“He’s trying to do a clean-up on aisle one here. But it’s not going to change. He actually told the truth by accident. He wanted the election to be overturned.”

A  little-noticed feature of the stories about Trump's thus-far unsuccessful efforts to stage a coup is that even among the MAGA crowd, some things were considered beyond the pale. Barr was willing to swallow a lot, but he couldn't go along with lying about imaginary vote fraud. The high-ranking lawyers at the Justice Department were Trump appointees, but they would resign en masse rather than see Clark subvert the department for plainly unlawful ends. Brad Raffensperger voted for Trump but refused to lie for him. Cuccinelli was Trump's loyal immigration hawk, but he couldn't see his way to using his Homeland Security post to confiscate voting machines and commit fraud. And though Mike Pence, pressed hard by Trump for the last full measure of devotion, wavered (he phoned former Vice President Dan Quayle for advice), in the end, he did what he knew was right.

A healthy body politic, like a healthy physical body, needs antibodies. It needs certain automatic defenses. The actions of those Republicans were the vestigial antibodies of a healthy democracy. The people who made those crucial decisions were acting out of a sense that anything less would be dishonorable and would be perceived as such by the whole society.

But would they make the same decisions today? Every single time a Republican suggests that what Trump did and attempted to do was anything less than a five-alarm fire, they are weakening our immune system.

Sen. Susan Collins was asked whether she could support Trump in 2024. She declined to rule it out.

Just think about what message that sends to the rank and file about what is beyond the pale and what isn't. If Collins might even support Trump, maybe it's not such a big deal.

On the anniversary of January 6, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sneered at what he called "nauseating" remembrances, adding that "it's an insult to people when you say it's an insurrection." Another blow to the concept that something truly awful happened that must never be repeated.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has not hesitated to appear on the John Fredericks radio show since his inauguration. Fredericks was the host of a rally in October that featured an American flag that had been carried at the "peaceful" January 6 protest. Fredericks also ladles out big helpings of election falsehood to his listeners.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has announced a new podcast, hosted by Sen. Rick Scott, to help 2022 GOP senate candidates. First scheduled guest: Donald Trump.

It was not just an attempted coup. The steady sapping of republican virtue continues.

The real story is the Republicans have become the party of Trump, not even soars hero Bush.

WSJ censures the Liz Cheney censure by the RNC

By David Zukerman

In a February 5 editorial, "The GOP Censures Liz Cheney,"  The Wall Street Journal indicated that its ongoing nostalgia for the Bushies still clouds its political judgment.  The editorial insisted that the censure by the Republican National Committee of the turncoat representatives Cheney and Kinzinger will be detrimental to GOP chances in the midterm congressional elections, later this year.  Why?  In a squib highlighting the editorial's main point, the suggestion is that the RNC's censure is "dividing" Republicans and, thereby, will hand the Democrats victory in the congressional midterms.

What nonsense. Those "Republicans" in Liz Cheney's corner are, more than likely, NeverTrump people who, since 2016, have gotten used to voting against Republicans -- to the point where they have placed the Oval Office in the hands of the most incompetent presidents since James Buchanan, if not ever.

Thank heavens -- the fact is that the Bush family's hold on the GOP ended with Jeb Bush's failure as presidential candidate in 2016, and, as this US News story reports, the RNC vote to censure Cheney and Kinzinger makes it clear that Trumpians -- conservative populists -- control today's Republican Party.  Now that may not please The Wall Street Journal, but it informs U.S. political reality.  Note well: RINOs are not to be found among GOP conservative populists.

The Journal commented at the end of this head-in-the-sand editorial, "When political parties try to purge non-crazy dissenters, the result is that they get smaller."  This observation necessarily implies that Cheney's active participation on the Pelosi partisan panel for prosecutorial purpose is rational.  One might as well be surprised that the Journal did not accuse the RNC of transgressing Ronald Reagan's Eleventh Commandment:  "Thou Shall Not Speak Ill of Another Republican."

President Donald Trump improperly removed multiple boxes from the White House that were retrieved by the National Archives and Records Administration last month from his Mar-a-Lago residence because they contained documents and other items that should have been turned over to the agency, according to three people familiar with the visit.
The recovery of the boxes from Trump’s Florida resort raises new concerns about his adherence to the Presidential Records Act, which requires the preservation of memos, letters, notes, emails, faxes and other written communications related to a president’s official duties.
Trump advisers deny any nefarious intent and said the boxes contained mementos, gifts, letters from world leaders and other correspondence. The items included correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which Trump once described as “love letters,” as well as a letter left for his successor by President Barack Obama, according to two people familiar with the contents.
Discussions between the Archives and the former president’s lawyers that began last year resulted in the transfer of the records in January, according to one person familiar with the conversations. Another person familiar with the materials said Trump advisers discussed what had to be returned in December. People familiar with the transfer, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal internal details.
The Archives declined to comment. A spokesman for Trump did not respond to a request for comment.
['He never stopped ripping things up': Inside Trump's relentless document destruction habits]
The Archives has struggled to cope with a president who flouted document retention requirements and frequently ripped up official documents, leaving hundreds of pages taped back together — or some that arrived at the Archives still in pieces. Some damaged documents were among those turned over to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob.

The New Fascist regime is threatening an 81 year old hero.

The Republican war on Fauci is partly a sign of Trump’s strong grip on the party. But Fauci, both his friends and detractors agree, has also become a symbol of something deeper — the deep schism in the country, mistrust in government and a brewing populist resentment of the elites, all made worse by the pandemic.

And Fauci, whose perpetual television appearances have made him the face of the COVID-19 response — and who is viewed by his critics as a high-and-mighty know-it-all who enjoys his celebrity — seems an obvious person to blame.

“Populism is essentially anti: anti-establishment, anti-expertise, anti-intellectual and anti-media,” said Whit Ayres, a Republican strategist, adding that Fauci “is an establishment expert intellectual who is in the media.”

For the 81-year-old immunologist, a venerated figure in the world of science, it is a jarring last chapter of a government career that has spanned half a century. As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a post he has held since 1984, he has helped lead the response to various public health crises, including AIDS and Ebola, and advised eight presidents. He has never revealed a party affiliation. President George H.W. Bush once cited him as a hero.

Now, though, some voters are parroting right-wing commentators who compare Fauci to the brutal Nazi doctor Josef Mengele. Candidates in hotly contested Republican primaries like Ohio’s are trying to out-Trump one another by supplanting Speaker Nancy Pelosi with Fauci as a political boogeyman. DeSantis has coined a new term: “Faucism.” In Washington, lawmakers are taking aim at Fauci’s salary, finances and influence.

“I didn’t make myself a polarizing figure,” Fauci declared in an interview. “I’ve been demonized by people who are running away from the truth.”

The anti-Fauci fervor has taken its toll on his personal life; he has received death threats, his family has been harassed and his home in Washington is guarded by a security detail.

The Democratic party is not dividing up it is returning to normality.

Gov. Philip D. Murphy of New Jersey, a Democrat who has imposed some of the nation’s most stringent pandemic-related mandates, will no longer require students and school employees to wear masks, signaling a deliberate shift toward treating the coronavirus as a part of daily life.

Mr. Murphy, the vice chairman of the National Governors Association, said on Sunday that he would officially announce the elimination of the mandate on Monday afternoon. The new policy will take effect the second week of March, two years after New York and New Jersey became early epicenters of a virus that has since mutated and resurged, killing more than 900,000 people nationwide.

The debate over mask wearing in schools has proved one of the most divisive issues in the pandemic, embroiling parents, school boards, teachers and elected officials in caustic clashes over academic loss, protecting public health and individual choice.

Mr. Murphy’s move follows a decision last month by the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, to rescind his state’s school mask mandate. The Democratic governors of New York and Connecticut also said last week that they were re-evaluating school mask mandates that are soon set to expire.

Trumpenfreude is that feeling you get when you watch someone fall who tried to bring President Donald John Trump down. I stopped counting at 118.

But this week -- a year after Trump left office -- was a spectacular week of Trumpenfreude. It began with CNN firing Jeff Zucker. It continued with a jury convicting the Creepy Porn Lawyer of swindling Stormy Daniels. And now it ends with Chris Wallace whining about Zuck's departure and having no staff in his new gig at CNN-plus.
Hahaha.

He left a $7 million a year job at Fox for an undisclosed salary at CNN-plus.

He called it a new challenge. I call it Fox not wanting to pay $7 million a year for a drag on ratings.

We Love Trump reported, "With Chris Wallace Gone, Fox News Sunday Viewership Ratings Skyrocket."

Hahaha.

His departure was the best thing to happen to Fox since Shepard Smith left for CNBC.

Tonight, Radar Online reported, "Defection Disaster: ‘Irate’ Chris Wallace Has Meltdown Over Jeff Zucker-Allison Gollust Scandal, Said To Be At War In D.C. Bureau With Jake Tapper."

The story said, "Chris Wallace is irate at the ousting of CNN president Jeff Zucker and his future at the news network is uncertain, Radar has been told."

Hahaha.

The story quoted TV industry insider, who said, "He went over there for Zucker and now Zucker is gone. Wallace feels that he has been stiffed. He’s got no staff, no Executive Producer and the guy he gave up a prized gig for has just walked out the door."

Jake Tapper, the host of The Lead, and Sam Feist, the cable giant’s Washington bureau chief and senior vice president, remain at the station.

The TV insider said, "It’s no secret in DC that Wallace hates Jake Tapper and despises Sam Feist. Zucker spun his magic to allay Chris’ concern about the pair, promising that his status as a ‘premiere journalist’ would not be compromised while working out of the DC bureau."

HAHAHA.

Oh this is delicious.

The man who promoted the Russian Collusion Hoax for years on Fox now is the one who feels the walls are closing in.

Trump "gleefully" watched the Capitol insurrection, an ex-White House official said last month.

But he was confused when staffers who also watched were not as excited, the AP reported.

The report comes after Ivanka Trump was asked to cooperate with the January 6 committee.
_________

Former President Donald Trump was confused when White House staffers didn't like him rewinding Capitol riot highlights on TV,
The Associated Press reported today.

The report offers new details into what happened in the West Wing on January 6, 2021, as a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

The AP report repeats a previous claim made by Stephanie Grisham, a former White House press secretary, who told CNN last month that Trump "gleefully" watched the insurrection unfold on TV, rewinding the footage at several points to watch it over again.

"Look at all of the people fighting for me," Trump said at the time, according to Grisham.

As White House staffers watched the riot unfold, the former president was shocked that they weren't as excited as he was, the AP said.

The report also provided an update on Trump's daughter and then-senior advisor Ivanka Trump, who was asked by the January 6 select committee last month to cooperate with its investigation into the Capitol riot.

A committee aide told the AP that they are hopeful Ivanka, who has kept a very low public profile since her father left office, will soon commit to a time to meet.

"Ivanka Trump has details about what occurred in the lead-up to and on Jan. 6 and about the former president's state of mind as events unfolded," Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a member of the panel, told the AP.

Republicans need to nominate unelectable general-election candidates and run lousy campaigns.

Virginia Black caucus votes not to accept Black GOP member A.C. Cordoza

Cordoza said when he reached out to the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus about membership, he was given a policy questionnaire about whether he supported a wide range of liberal priorities.

“I asked myself what any of those things mentioned have to do with being Black? The answer is, it has nothing to do with being Black. It’s about being leftist,” he said.

He called the rejection disheartening, but not shocking.

Racist cocksuckers.

And the pederast, in his capacity as a fake pastor, endorses this shit.

Ottawa truckers' convoy galvanizes far-right worldwide

Leading Republicans, right-wing influencers and white supremacist groups like Ch. have jumped at the chance to promote the standoff in Ottawa to a global audience.

And he found it. The dumb fuck thinks the Canadian trucker convoy is the "far right."

LOL.

I call it fascism but authoritarianism has come to America. The movement to dismantle our democracy is thriving and growing, even after the failure of the Jan. 6th coup attempt, because it isn’t spreading through overt rejection of our system of government. It’s spreading through lies.”

“It turns out that you don’t have to renounce any of our nation’s founding principles to betray them. All you have to do is believe lies: that real ballots are fake, that prosecutors are criminals, and that insurrectionists are political prisoners. Once you believe these things, you’re ready to disenfranchise your fellow citizens in the name of democracy. You’re ready to cover up crimes in the name of fighting corruption. You’re ready to liberate coup plotters in the name of justice.”

“And that’s where we are. Donald Trump and his party have sold these lies to more than 100 million Americans. He has built an army of authoritarian followers who think they’re saving the republic.” from the elite.

We have seen it here since the day he was nominated by the Republican party in 2015.

Instead of being a libertarian, he has become a globalist. They don't believe in science, and international politics like NATO.

As if anyone really gives a damn what you call it or think. You guys are transparently desperate to change any discussion from biden to Trump.

They are conservative Republicans !

They're grifters, sucking the balls of an Iranian liberal billionaire - Pierre Omidyar - for their shekels.

halfbaked said...

I did not say that the truckers were far right extremist. They are basically libertarian views who don't want government control over anything.

But the Ottawa truckers' convoy galvanizes far-right worldwide like rrb and kputz and Cali. Ballsless is a normal conservative Republican.

Trump was the most dangerous President in history.

Remember when you defended Bush on everything he said and did?

Trump and his son called him a RINO!

You are a better man than Ch has become.

Roger, in your own words why are you against Canadian Truckers?

A LIE.

They're protesting the vaccine mandates. Period. That's it. You and your cohorts on the far left have tagged them as NAZI'S. That too is a LIE.

The 2nd rule of leftism - Every single narrative you promote is a FALSE narrative alky.

You're basically a fucking sociopath, alky. Thank goodness you're under lock and key.

Yet you cannot name a single demonstrable reason why you think so.

Woodrow Wilson and LBJ were much more dangerous and did much more actual damage than Trump ever dreamed of. But you must demonize him because you have no legitimate reason to oppose him and you have no candidate who can beat him.

You're a clown alky.

A plagiarist clown.

Now go eat your jello.

The polarization of the two parties, and their dominance in state legislatures, has emboldened some places to propose laws targeting voter fraud — though there was no evidence of fraud in the 2020 election — which can have the real-world effect of making it more difficult for disenfranchised communities, including Black people and those in poverty, to vote.

has emboldened some places to propose laws targeting voter suppression — though there was no evidence of suppression in the 2020 election (or any recent election for that matter) — which can have the real-world effect of making it easier for people to commit fraud.

Polls show both senators are not following their peoples wishes.....

Actually Manchin is more popular than ever and has been treated like a celebrity in West Virginia, and Sinema has higher approvals with independents than her counterpoint Mark Kelly.

What does white supremacy have to do with what's happening in Ottawa?

As far as a global audience, Canadians still have free speech rights (although more limited than the US.)

Rather there is a global case for speech repression. Its that leftist want to suppress conservative views.

Fortunately the internet works both ways.

Nothing. But when you have no legitimate criticism to lodge, your go-to maneuver is to violate some derivative of Godwin's Law.

This the alky we're talking about here. The smallest thinker any of us will ever meet.

If there is any Senator seat that is said to be safe it would be Joe Manchin's.

And if Manchin's seat is ever up for grabs. A West Virginia seat would almost automatically be a safe GOP seat.

She is facing a primary challenge if foxnews gets her the nomination, this seat will have a Decent House member.

In her first term in Congress, Greene has emerged as one of the most prominent voices of the GOP’s far-right fringe, touting racist and antisemitic tropes, engaging in conspiracy theories about the coronavirus and vaccines and embracing former President Donald Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen. As she seeks reelection promising more of the same, Strahan is among a small group of challengers during Georgia’s May 24 primary who argue they can deliver Republican values without the sideshow.
