WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed in principle to a summit to discuss the situation in Ukraine, the White House said Sunday, but only as long as Russia does not invade its neighbor.Russia-Ukraine: Kremlin calls potential Putin-Biden meeting 'premature': LIVE UPDATES
Although the White House says President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to convene for a summit regarding Ukraine "in principle," it appears Monday that Putin has not yet fully embraced the idea 100 percent, virtual or otherwise, Fox News' Amy Kellogg reports.
Meanwhile, Putin will be giving an address where he is expected to declare that Russia is recognizing two different Russian backed Ukrainian separatist groups as legitimate countries. Apparently they are to be called Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic.
This, of course, serves two purposes. It provides an excuse for military action of Ukraine or anyone else decides to not recognize or otherwise attack these two groups or it would provide another portion of the old Soviet Union to become a puppet state for Mother Russia.
So now Biden and gang have to make a choice. Allow these two portions of Ukraine to basically become independent of Ukraine and to fall under Russian oversight, or oppose the move, providing an excuse for Putin to invade Ukraine in order to solidify the independence of these two new states.
This is Putin playing the chessboard like a fine tuned violin, while Biden is still trying to figure out how the little horsey pieces moves.

Interesting to see how much you are in favor of anything Putin does as long as you think it might cause trouble for Biden.
Pretty sure I did not say I was in "favor" of any of it.
But one has to accept the reality here that Putin recognizing the "independence" of Russian-backed separatist groups in Ukraine backs everyone into a corner.
At the end of the day, are we (the United States) really responsible for what happens there? The manner in which this has been handled and reported on by our media has put this issue and Biden's handling of the issue front and center.
Not sure it warrants this much attention as we have international conficts all over the world at any given moment. But I think many people are desperate for some sort of Biden win and were hoping he would get it at Putin's expense.
But all that being said. I think is is not just naive, but painfully stupid to believe that an old washed up never-was geezer like Biden was going to outsmart a guy who has been front and center for decades on this sort of stuff. Maybe it's time for us to take a back seat and allow another Nato country with a legitimate leader to take charge. Perhaps someone who can remember where they are today would be a fresh start.

Putin plans to recognize Ukraine rebel regions' independence
Reuters
February 21, 2022, 1:43 PM
By Andrew Osborn and Dmitry Antonov
MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin told the leaders of France and Germany on Monday that he planned to sign a decree recognising the two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine as independent entities shortly,
the Kremlin said.
The French and German leaders voiced disappointment after hearing the decision, the Kremlin said in a readout of the phone calls. Moscow's move is also likely to torpedo a last-minute bid for a summit to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine.
Separately, Moscow said Ukrainian military saboteurs had tried to enter Russian territory in armed vehicles leading to five deaths, an accusation dismissed as "fake news" by Kyiv.
Both developments fit a pattern repeatedly predicted by Western governments, who accuse Russia of preparing to fabricate a pretext to invade Ukraine by blaming Kyiv for attacks and relying on pleas for help from separatist proxies.
Recognition by Moscow of the rebel regions' independence will narrow the diplomatic options to avoid war, since it is an explicit rejection of a seven-year-old ceasefire mediated by France and Germany, touted as the framework for future negotiations on the wider crisis.
Hours earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron gave hope of a diplomatic solution, saying Putin and Biden had agreed in principle to meet.
But the Kremlin said there were no specific plans for a summit. The White House said Biden had accepted the meeting "in principle" but only "if an invasion hasn't happened."
In Washington, President Joe Biden summoned his top security advisers. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and General Mark Milley, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, could be seen entering the White House on the President's Day holiday.
Washington says Russia has massed a force numbering 169,000-190,000 troops in the region, including the pro-Russian rebels in the breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine, and could invade within days. The recognition of the rebel-held areas could also provide a pretext for Russian troops to cross the border into those areas.
Russia denies any plan to attack its neighbour but has threatened unspecified "military-technical" action unless it receives sweeping security guarantees, including a promise that Ukraine will never join NATO.
European financial markets tumbled at the signs of increased confrontation, after having briefly edged higher on the glimmer of hope that a summit might offer a path out of Europe's biggest military crisis in decades. The price of oil - Russia's main export - rose, while Russian shares and the rouble plunged.

BILL GATES: Sadly, the virus itself, particularly the variant called Omicron, is a type of vaccine. That is it creates both B cell and T cell immunity. And it has done a better job of getting out to the world population than we have with vaccines."
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a combative, hour-long address on Monday that he will recognize two breakaway "republics" in eastern Ukraine as independent.
Why it matters: The separatists don't hold all of the territory they claim and have asked for Russian military assistance. Recognition could thus be a de facto declaration of war from Putin.
The separatists declared independence in 2014 and have waged a low-scale war against Ukrainian forces since then, with military backing from Moscow. The fighting has escalated since Thursday, with Kyiv accusing the separatists of persistent shelling across the line of contact.
Between the lines: Analysts expect Russian recognition of the separatist republics to be followed by a deployment of "peacekeeper" forces, but it's unclear whether they would seek to secure the territory the separatists currently hold or the entirety of the areas they claim (see map).
At a time when the White House continues to warn of an imminent, large-scale invasion, Putin's latest moves could be interpreted as a sign that his immediate military focus is on the eastern Donbas region and not on the capital, Kyiv. But Michael Kofman, an expert on Russia's military capabilities at CNA, contends it's more likely the first step in a broader military operation that won't be limited to the Donbas.Putin said Ukrainian forces in Donbas must stand down or they will “be responsible for any future bloodletting."
It's also unclear whether Putin's move will immediately trigger the "massive" sanctions the U.S. and its European allies have promised in the event of an invasion.
Recognizing the two breakaway regions "would be a sort of attack without weapons," France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told a parliamentary hearing earlier Monday.Secretary of State Tony Blinken had said such recognition would also "call into further question Russia’s stated commitment to continue to engage in diplomacy to achieve a peaceful resolution of this crisis, and necessitate a swift and firm response from the United States in full coordination with our Allies and partners."Data: Mapbox/OSCE as of Feb. 14, 2022; Map: Will Chase/Axios
What he's saying: Putin began his address with a lengthy rendition of Ukraine's history as he sees it. He claimed Ukraine was an "inherent part" of Russia's culture and history that was only "invented" as a separate entity by Russian Bolsheviks and has never become a functional independent state.
He proceeded to argue that a hostile Ukraine is a threat to Russia because it is being armed by the West and could eventually obtain nuclear weapons (there are no indications that such a scenario is likely).Putin blamed the West, in particular the U.S., for the current state of affairs. He said it's become clear the U.S. wants Russia as an enemy and wants it to be weak.

What is Donbas?
Fighting in eastern Ukraine between the separatists and the Ukrainian government has been ongoing since 2014, claiming 14,000 lives. Violence, division and economic downturn have damaged the region. More than 2 million people have since fled.
Recently, widespread shelling in eastern Ukraine has heightened fears in the West and in Kyiv of an attack, as Russia continues building up its forces, now an estimated 150,000 strong, near Ukraine.

More information about this situation.
In 2015, Russia and Ukraine agreed on the Minsk peace deal, a France- and Germany-brokered plan to end the conflict between Kyiv and the Russian-backed separatists in the contested Donbas region. Under the agreement, Ukraine would regain the two regions a special status and significant autonomy in return for regaining control of its border with Russia.
But the deal has stalled. "And he is going withdraw from the agreement."
Putin has said Ukraine has no intention of implementing the agreement’s terms. Ukraine has sought amendments to the deal — which was brokered after a string of military losses — and said that the agreement on Russian terms would give Moscow power to influence Ukraine’s foreign policy and undermine its sovereignty. Kyiv officials have said current terms, if implemented, would lead to riots and chaos.

So, silly.
Except impose sanctions against the Russian oligarchs and Russian banks.
Well the problem there is that much of this never harms Putin. In fact, if the average citizen of the country is under hardship because of western sanctions, that probably strengthens Putin's hand as he blames the west for any Russian problems.
All that being said, sanctions will have limited effect, unless you can get China and others to follow along with it. Other countries will just use it to help their own economies by have near exclusive financial ties to Russia (since a bunch of competitors are no longer working with them).
So Sanctions could end up helping China and making the west look even worse in the eyes of the average Russian.
Kyiv officials have said current terms, if implemented, would lead to riots and chaos.
He might back off, because it would cause economic more crisis and weaken his supporters.
You do realize that Kyiv is in Ukraine and chaos and rioting in Kyiv Ukraine is not going to harm Putin?

President Joe Biden on Monday reacted swiftly to Russian President Vladimir Putin declaring he would recognize the independence of two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine, possibly using the move as a pretext for an invasion the U.S. has warned was likely coming at any hour.
The White House said Biden would soon issue an executive order "that will prohibit new investment, trade, and financing by U.S. persons to, from, or in" the two Ukrainian regions under the control of Russian-backed separatists, Donetsk and Luhansk.
The order "will also provide authority to impose sanctions on any person determined to operate in those areas of Ukraine," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement. She added that the U.S. "will also soon announce additional measures related to today’s blatant violation of Russia’s international commitments."

Let's be clear here Roger...
We have no authority to stop anyone other than Americans from investing or doing business in Ukraine if they so choose. Not even sure we can stop Americans from doing so.
If the United States refuses to take any exports of products that might be associated with these regions, well then that just further escalates both our problems with our supply chain and inflation.

Pro-Trump retired general: Russian troop movements are 'designed to take the focus off the 2020 election'
Retired Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney recently cited Russian President Vladimir Putin's troop build-up on the Ukraine border as proof that MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was right to make false claims about the 2020 election.
During a recent appearance on Lindell's broadcast platform, Lindell-TV, McInerney suggested that the Russian troop build-up is a ruse.
"It was supposed to have started last Monday and then it was supposed to be Wednesday," McInerney said of a possible invasion of Ukraine. "To me, it is part of their overall scheme that goes right back to the election, the election in November 2020."
"All these [issues] are designed to take the focus off the 2020 election," he continued. "I'd be concerned too if I thought this was for real but I do not see the Russians doing anything."
McInerney argued that the developments in Russia mean that Lindell has been right all along about China hacking voting machines to steal the 2020 election for President Joe Biden.
Lindell-TV host Brannon Howse asked the retired general if Russian troop movements were part of the plot to steal the election from Trump.
"Absolutely," McInerney replied. "No question about it in my mind."

A nuclear conflict with Russia is likelier than you think

It was in August 2014 that the real danger began, and that we heard the first warnings of war. That month, unmarked Russian troops covertly invaded eastern Ukraine, where the separatist conflict had grown out of its control. The Russian air force began harassing the neighboring Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, which are members of NATO. The US pledged that it would uphold its commitment to defend those countries as if they were American soil, and later staged military exercises a few hundred yards from Russia's border.

X. An atomic gun to the world's head
XI. Does Putin believe nuclear war can be "won"?
XII. End games
Both sides came to believe that the other had more drastic intentions. Moscow is convinced the West is bent on isolating, subjugating, or outright destroying Russia. One in three Russians now believe the US may invade. Western nations worry, with reason, that Russia could use the threat of war, or provoke an actual conflict, to fracture NATO and its commitment to defend Eastern Europe. This would break the status quo order that has peacefully unified Europe under Western leadership, and kept out Russian influence, for 25 years.
Sleepy Joe Biden has been aware of this for his career.
Fearing the worst of one another, the US and Russia have pledged to go to war, if necessary, to defend their interests in the Eastern European borderlands. They have positioned military forces and conducted chest-thumping exercises, hoping to scare one another down. Putin, warning repeatedly that he would use nuclear weapons in a conflict, began forward-deploying nuclear-capable missiles and bombers.
Europe today looks disturbingly similar to the Europe of just over 100 years ago, on the eve of World War I. It is a tangle of military commitments and defense pledges, some of them unclear and thus easier to trigger. Its leaders have given vague signals for what would and would not lead to war. Its political tensions have become military buildups. Its nations are teetering on an unstable balance of power, barely held together by a Cold War–era alliance that no longer quite applies.
If you take a walk around Washington or a Western European capital today, there is no feeling of looming catastrophe. The threats are too complex, with many moving pieces and overlapping layers of risk adding up to a larger danger that is less obvious. People can be forgiven for not seeing the cloud hanging over them, for feeling that all is well — even as in Eastern Europe they are digging in for war. But this complacency is itself part of the problem, making the threat more difficult to foresee, to manage, or, potentially, to avert.
"THERE’S A LOW NUCLEAR THRESHOLD NOW THAT DIDN’T EXIST DURING THE COLD WAR"
There is a growing chorus of political analysts, arms control experts, and government officials who are sounding the alarm, trying to call the world's attention to its drift toward disaster. The prospect of a major war, even a nuclear war, in Europe has become thinkable, they warn, even plausible.
What they describe is a threat that combines many of the hair-trigger dangers and world-ending stakes of the Cold War with the volatility and false calm that preceded World War I — a comparison I heard with disturbing frequency.
They describe a number of ways that an unwanted but nonetheless major war, like that of 1914, could break out in the Eastern European borderlands. The stakes, they say, could not be higher: the post–World War II peace in Europe, the lives of thousands or millions of Eastern Europeans, or even, in a worst-case scenario that is remote but real, the nuclear devastation of the planet.
He has drawn NATO together like I have never seen before in opposition to Putin and his bullying ways.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees ordering military forces into two separatist regions of Ukraine for “peacekeeping” purposes as Moscow recognized the breakaway regions’ independence Monday.
Putin signed a decree recognizing the areas — a move that Russia could use to justify an attack in those locations — and an agreement of cooperation with the heads of the two regions: Denis Pushilin of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Leonid Pasechnik of the Luhansk People’s Republic. The separatists do not control the entirety of their regions, and it was not clear Monday evening whether a military incursion could occur.
The formal recognition prompted a chorus of condemnation from world leaders, with some vowing sanctions.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said President Biden would issue an executive order prohibiting U.S. investment and trade in the breakaway regions. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called Putin’s recognition of the breakaway territories a “blatant violation” of international law and said the bloc would “react with unity, firmness and with determination in solidarity with Ukraine.” French President Emmanuel Macron called the declaration a “violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine” and called for an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, echoing Ukraine’s request from earlier in the day.
U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson signaled a willingness to hold off on imposing sanctions, but said Putin’s move was “a very ill omen and a very dark sign.” NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg accused Moscow of escalating the conflict and urged Russia to “choose diplomacy.”
From every angle, by every description, and by every objective measure, Joe Biden is the biggest fucking failure to ever walk the halls of DC.

Tulsi Gabbard nailed it the other day. You want to end this shit right now? Tell Putin that Ukraine will not be allowed to become a member of NATO.
Problem solved.

Putin Orders Deployment of Troops to Breakaway Regions in Ukraine https://www.wsj.com/articles/russia-alleges-ukrainian-incursion-kyiv-says-moscow-makes-up-fake-incidents-11645453512
Shit
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops into the breakaway Luhansk and Donetsk regions Monday night, following his decision earlier in the day to recognize those regions as independent republics, and no longer part of Ukraine.
The troops will carry out “peacekeeping functions” in the two regions, according to the order.

Officials Have Discussed Having Ukraine’s President Leave

Biden administration officials have discussed plans with the Ukrainian government for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to leave Kyiv in the event of a Russian invasion, NBC News reports.
Putin sends in troops. Biden humiliated. Harris an embarrassment. Networks report on Jan 6. Just grand.
Redstate talking points.
Over the weekend, a security conference was held in Munich on the Ukraine “crisis.” For reasons we can only speculate, Joe Biden elected to stay home and send loudmouth, cackling naif Kamala Harris to represent US interests. This, by itself, should be grounds for impeachment and removal of Biden when the GOP takes over Congress. As the president doesn’t need to be in office to impeach and remove him from office, we can do this to Biden even if we have to reenact King Charles II dealing with the Regicides.
The Biden junta’s response has been singularly toothless, considering they admit they anticipated Putin’s move.

Pjmedia LMAO LMAO
Regardless of whether war breaks out between Ukraine and Russia, Joe Biden and the Democrats will see very little upside in the outcome.
Democrats who were hoping that a Biden demarche in Ukraine resulting in Putin pulling back would give the president and his party a desperately needed boost going into the midterm elections are only kidding themselves. First, midterms are rarely, if ever, about foreign policy issues. Eventually, Ukraine will slip away from our attention and other, more pressing domestic issues will take center stage.
On Monday Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the Ukrainian breakaway provinces Donetsk and Luhansk as independent regions within Ukraine.
This action by Putin infuriated RINO Lindsey Graham who is always itching for a good war.

Graham took to Twitter and called for the destruction of the ruble and demanded the West “crush” Russia’s energy sector.
This will be difficult now that Joe Biden approved the Russia pipeline fueling Western Europe. Joe Biden also started importing oil from Russia after disrupting the US energy sector.
It’s the little things.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called to “destroy the ruble and crush the Russian oil and gas sector” in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression in Ukraine.
Graham made the call in a tweet thread posted after Putin’s national address in which he recognized the independence of the separatist Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic areas of Ukraine.
“When it comes to thugs like Putin disrupting world order and destroying democracies – enough is enough,” Graham wrote.
“Putin’s decision to declare eastern Donetsk and Luhansk as independent regions within Ukraine is both a violation of the Minsk Agreements and a declaration of war against the people of Ukraine,” the Republican from South Carolina continued.

Try refuting a word of it pederast. You cannot because every word of it was TRUE.
RRB, good luck Pedo and Alky don't do critical thinking.
The United States spends more on national defense than China, India, Russia, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Italy, and Australia — combined. While the chart above illustrates last year’s defense spending in dollar terms, the United States has also historically devoted a larger share of its economy to defense than many of its key allies.
Defense spending accounts for more than 10 percent of all federal spending and nearly half of discretionary spending. Total discretionary spending — for both defense and nondefense purposes — is typically only about one-third of the annual federal budget. It is currently below its historical average as a share of GDP and is projected to decline further.

Biden’s Ratings Hover Near 40%
February 22, 2022 at 9:55 am EST By Taegan Goddard 38 Comments
A new Gallup poll finds 41% of U.S. adults approve of the job Joe Biden is doing as president, similar to his 40% rating for handling foreign affairs, while approval of his handling the economy and the situation with Russia are slightly lower.
MY PREDICTION: THEY WILL KEEP GOING UP.
OBAMA'S RATINGS WERE AT TIMES LOW, YET HE GOT REELECTED.
TRUMP'S WERE ALWAYS IN THE BASEMENT, AND HE DID NOT GET REELECTED.
