This is interesting..

Gallup: Share of Americans who identify as LGBT has doubled in 10 years

Gen Z has literally increased the number of LGBT by 30% in one year

So, it is curious how the numbers change so dramatically in one year. It's only a matter of time before someone suggests that Covid turns people gay! Of course the biggest jump between 2020 and 2021 was in the bi-sexual community, rather than gay, lesbian or trans. But still, this is a strange situation.

I think there are actually two or three things in play here. One would be that there is no question that the older generations were less likely to embrace, much less admit if they had LGBT feelings. As it becomes more acceptable, it becomes easier to come out. On the flip side, it seems that being part of the LGBT community is now considered "cool" by the younger generations, which may actually prompt some to suggest that they are some form of LGBT just to fit in. With all of the different genders being suggested today, there is a lot of different manners to consider yourself part of that community.

Lastly, some of this could be a matter of semantics and generational thinking. A woman from my generation who might have "experimented" with other women, but eventually settled in and got married to a man probably think of themselves as more straight. But others in a different generation might actually consider themselves bi-sexual, pansexual, or whatever just for having thoughts about same sex relations. So one person might have experienced sex within their own gender can still see themselves as straight, while someone who has not experienced sex within their own gender might declare themselves some completely other gender and see themselves as part of the community.

Most medical studies that focuses on involuntary sexual responses to certain stimuli have shown that less than 5% of the population would be medically bisexual or gay. This would only hold true if you want to exclusively use sexual arousal to define hetero, homo, or bi-sexuality.  But with 37 different genders out there (some that are almost asexual in definition), it is much easier for someone to say they are part of the rainbow coalition. Of course, once everyone is sexually special, then nobody is sexually special, huh?

The act itself is one I quite enjoy.

Maybe it was partially the fact that I didn't find much trouble securing this service from females at the time. I probably had girls at these parties in question that would have made the same offer.

For a good portion of GenZers being LGBT is "cool". I watch a show called Home Economics. As is always the case, one of the three major families involved is a same sex couple and the one women is always trying to figure out how to get one of her children to be part of the LGBT. At one point thinking that a possible physical ailment could allow her to define as an alternate gender and thus make her part of the coalition. Being disappointed that her daughter wants to join cheerleading after being really excited when she thought it was the son who wanted to join cheer (because it would be breaking down conventional barriers).

Make no mistake, while I agree that older people may have hidden alternate sexuality, I truly believe that many of these kids are identifying as an alternate gender because they think it is cool and don't want to be "typical". Again, some of these identifications are being made by children not old enough to even have real sexual feelings, desires, or attraction.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The 15 boxes of White House records that were stored at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence contained items marked as classified national security information, the National Archives and Records Administration said Friday. The agency said the matter has been referred to the Justice Department.

In a response to a Feb. 9 letter to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, the National Archives confirmed reports that Trump took government records with him down to Florida after he left office in January 2021.

House lawmakers had opened an investigation and the National Archives has reportedly asked the Justice Department to look into the matter. The Justice Department and the FBI have not yet said what, if anything, they’ll do.

The letter from the archivists also stated that certain social media records were not captured and preserved by the Trump administration. And that the agency learned that White House staff frequently conducted official business using unofficial messaging accounts and personal phones.

Those staff did not copy or forward their official messaging counts, as required by the Presidential Records Act. The letter also goes on to reveal that after Trump left the White House, the National Archives learned that additional paper records that had been torn up by the former president had been transferred to the agency.

Torn up by the former President???

What is he scared of?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Investigators will be looking to see if Trump's actions, both during his presidency and after, violated the Presidential Records Act, which was enacted in 1978 after former President Richard Nixon wanted to destroy documents related to the Watergate scandal.

The law mandates that presidential records are the property of the U.S. government, rather than belonging to the president himself.

Another statute, punishable by up to three years in prison, makes it a crime to conceal or intentionally destroy government records.

A multiyear State Department probe of emails that were sent to former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s private computer server concluded there was no systemic or deliberate mishandling of classified information by department employees, according to a report submitted to Congress this month.

The report appears to represent a final and anticlimactic chapter in a controversy that overshadowed the 2016 presidential campaign and exposed Clinton to fierce criticism that she later cited as a major factor in her loss to President Trump.

In the end, State Department investigators found 38 current or former employees “culpable” of violating security procedures — none involving material that had been marked classified — in a review of roughly 33,000 emails that had been sent to or from the personal computer system Clinton used.

The question over documents comes as the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol has sought Trump administration records from the Archives. The Supreme Court last month denied Mr. Trump’s emergency request to block the House panel from obtaining White House records related to the attack, which attempted to disrupt Congress from certifying President Biden’s victory.

Investigators will be looking to see if Trump's actions, both during his presidency and after, violated the Presidential Records Act, which was enacted in 1978 after former President Richard Nixon wanted to destroy documents related to the Watergate scandal.

High-profile far-left candidates in last year’s race for mayor of New York and in a special election for the U.S. House in Ohio were defeated by more moderate Democratic opponents.
The next test of party direction will come March 1, when moderate Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar — whose home and campaign office were raided by the FBI earlier this year — squares off in a primary rematch in South Texas against liberal challenger Cisneros, whom he narrowly defeated in 2020 and who has attracted high-profile liberal endorsements. Cuellar has said the investigation will show “no wrongdoing” on his part.
At weekend rallies with Cisneros and Greg Casar, an Austin city councilman running for Congress, Ocasio-Cortez singled out centrists who have opposed sweeping Democratic plans. “We know it’s not just Manchin,” she said at a rally in San Antonio.
Cuellar has sought to cast Cisneros as weak on immigration and border security, issues that have long stoked debate in the Democratic Party.
Some Democrats argue that issues that divide the left and more moderate party forces were being hyped by Republicans to win votes. Former congressman and presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke, who is running for governor of Texas, said in an interview that Republicans were “pitting parents against teachers” with campaigns to keep some materials about race and gender out of schools.

If they move towards the center, the Republican candidates won't be able to call them socialist.

Biden says he's now convinced Putin has decided to invade Ukraine
By Betsy Klein and Sam Fossum, CNN
Updated Feb 18, 2022
(CNN) - President Joe Biden on Friday said he is now convinced Russian President Vladimir Putin has made the decision to invade Ukraine, but emphasized that room for diplomacy remains.
"As of this moment, I am convinced he's made the decision, we have reason to believe that," Biden said when asked if Putin had made the decision to invade Ukraine.
It was a notable change in position for the President, who previously stated he did not believe the Russian leader had made up his mind, but acknowledged his insights into Putin's thinking were limited. He did note that he hoped diplomacy could de-escalate the situation, saying, ""Diplomacy is always a possibility."
Russian misinformation is building up to a false justification for Putin to make that move, Biden said, accusing Russia of ceasefire violations in the "rapidly escalating crisis."
"Over the last few days, we've seen reports of a major uptick in violations of the ceasefire by Russian-backed fighters attempting to provoke Ukraine in the Donbas," Biden said, pointing to multiple examples of disinformation that he said have been spread by Russian state media, including a "phony" claim of genocide in the Donbas region.
Biden said the claims by the Russians simply don't make sense.
"It defies basic logic to believe the Ukrainians would choose this moment -- with well over 150,000 troops arranged on its borders -- to escalate a year-long conflict," he said.
Earlier on Friday his White House announced it was blaming Russia for a massive cyberattack on Ukraine earlier in the week.
"We believe that the Russian government is responsible for widescale cyberattacks on Ukrainian banks this week. We have technical information that links the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate, or GRU, as known GRU infrastructure was seen transmitting high volumes of communication to Ukraine based IP addresses and domains," said Anne Neuberger, deputy national security advisor for cyber and emerging technology.
The attribution for the attack was unusually fast for the US government, and Neuberger noted that Russia has previously benefited from US delays in attributing Russian hacking operations.
"Russia likes to move in the shadows and counts on a long process of attribution so it can continue its malicious behaviour against Ukraine in cyberspace, including pre-positioning for its potential invasion," Neuberger told reporters in the White House briefing room.
The President last spoke about the crisis on Thursday as he departed the White House for a trip to Ohio, when he said there is "every indication" a Russian invasion of Ukraine "will happen in the next several days," and the threat of an attack is "very high."
"It's very high because they have not moved any of their troops out. They have moved more troops in, number one. Number two, we have reason to believe they are engaged in a false flag operation to have an excuse to go in. Every indication we have is they are prepared to go into Ukraine, attack Ukraine," he said.
The Friday remarks come amid escalating tensions as US Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Michael Carpenter warned earlier Friday that the US has assessed a significant Russian military buildup near Ukraine just in the last two weeks.
"Russia probably has massed between 169,000-190,000 personnel in and near Ukraine as compared with about 100,000 on January 30," he said in a statement at the OSCE meeting. That includes Russian troops on the borders of Ukraine as well as the Russian-led forces in eastern Ukraine, which have not been included in previous US assessments of Russia's strength in the area.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

U.S. officials say they expect a Russian attack on Ukraine in the next few days that could involve a broad combination of jet fighters, tanks, ballistic missiles and cyberattacks, with the ultimate intention of rendering the country’s leadership powerless.

The Biden administration is “deeply concerned” that Putin has turned away from a diplomatic resolution to the crisis in Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at the Munich Security Conference.

The Biden administration said that the United States has reason to believe that Russian cyber actors targeted the Ukrainian government and banks during the past week with an attack of “limited impact.”

Blinken agreed to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov next week under the condition that Moscow refrains from attacking Ukraine.

Vice President Harris, in Munich for a major security conference, met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and representatives of NATO’s three Baltic states and will confer with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Saturday.
Here’s what to know
“As of this moment I’m convinced he’s made the decision. We have reason to believe that,” Biden told reporters at the White House after a call with European leaders about the looming crisis. The president cited intelligence gathering for his assessment of Putin, while adding that war could be averted with further diplomacy.
President Biden said Friday that the United States believes Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to invade Ukraine, with the capital of Kyiv a prime target.

C.H. Truth said...

I doubt an unbiased DOJ will find a crime. After all, as president and former president Trump was authorized to possess classify document.

The issue isn't whether the national archives believes there was classified information. The issue is twofold.

1) Was it marked as classified

2) Was there an intent for Trump to do something nefarious with it.

The lack of intent is why several Government officials in the past have not gotten charged and why General P did (because they believed he showed it to his girlfriend who was a reporter).

So for it to be a crime, they would have to show that Trump knew he was taking classified documents and had some sort of nefarious reason for taking them that could possibly harm national security.

I would hold off on taking the "national archives" people at their word on what was in those archives and what was not. After all (as stated 1001 times) 999 out of a 1000 documents that are classified are only exchanged within the proper areas and in electronic form. We don't send classified papers back and forth - or if there are physical copies, they would not be lying around the Oval office, they would be in the secured areas where the remaining physical files would be.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Thank you, Roger, for giving us dependably good information on what the present situation seems to be.

Putin must be aware by now that he has terribly miscalculated, and having already delayed several times, is still hoping he can see clear to attacking.

By the way, even if Biden is not sure that Putin will invade, by saying what he is saying he puts Putin in an even tougher spot by forcing Putin to keep denying what he really wants to do.

So if that's a lie, it just keeps on getting to be a Bigger and Bigger Lie when and if he does invade.

Biden Says Russia Has Decided to Invade Ukraine
February 18, 2022 at 5:32 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 13 Comments

“President Biden held another round of urgent talks with European leaders on Friday afternoon as the United States and its allies continued to warn that Russia was poised to invade Ukraine and trigger the largest conflict on the continent since World War II,”
the New York Times reports.

Said Biden:
“We have reason to believe the Russian forces are planning and intend to attack Ukraine in the coming week, the coming days. We believe that they will target Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.”

How terrible, what Hillary did, Trump says.
And then he does even worse himself.

Actually Hillary did worse. For one thing she was a cabinet officer. Which means she had less authority and greater responsibility than Trump in handling classify documents.

1. Hillary was careless in handling classify documents allowing criminals access to her supposedly
2.Clinton also took steps to violate protocols in handling classify material. She also too classify material home with her. The difference she was criminally negligent in handling those documents.
3. Meanwhile Trump followed all protocols and procedures for handling classify material.

Sure... but as you can CLEARLY SEE if you actually bother to read what you post. It talks about intent to conceal, mutilate, etc... none of which relates at all to documents that are part of Presidential records that were willingly provided to the National Archives, albeit late.

As others who are less inflicted with TDS, none of the past several Presidents returned everything to the National Archives prior to leaving office and they had some issues with every President.

But hey... I understand if you take 2-3 viagras that hearing about Trump possibly going to jail can still give you a hard on.

Oakland school launches 'Transition Closet' to help students hide gender dysphoria from parents

The Transition Closet has come to Oakland's Fremont High School. The concept, which began in an Arkansas church, first launched at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, is designed to let trans-identified youth circumvent their parents and socially transition without their knowledge.

The Transition Closet announced with glee the new chapter with Fremont High School, writing that "We are extremely excited to begin our journey in working with Fremont Highschool [sic] of Oakland California, alongside our favorite teacher of TikTok @justaqueerteacher," as was first reported by Twitter account Teacher Exposed. A video of the teacher was also shared.

“The goal of the transition closet is for our students to wear the clothes that their parents approve of, come to school and then swap out into the clothes that fit who they truly are.” pic.twitter.com/Ba4EN8OfNw— Teachers Exposed (@Teacher_Exposed) February 15, 2022

GEOPOLITICAL GENIUS? — We might be overestimating Vladimir Putin.

That’s what two former ambassadors to Ukraine told Nightly this week as the world waits to learn whether the Russian president will begin the largest war in Europe since the 1940s. Despite the widespread sentiment that Putin has the West playing by his rules, the Russian president doesn’t seem to understand Ukraine too well, said William Taylor, a former ambassador to Ukraine and the vice president of Russia and Europe at the U.S. Institute of Peace.

“He thinks that if anybody speaks Russian, they’re going to be supporting him and Russia. Turns out, Mr. Putin, that’s not the case,” said Taylor, who served as ambassador from 2006 to 2009 and again as acting ambassador from 2019 to 2020. “In particular, since Russians invaded Ukraine in 2014, the Ukrainian people, no matter if they speak Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, or German, they hate President Putin.”

Ukrainians’ feelings toward Putin won’t do much to stop a potential invasion, one that U.S. military and intelligence assessments suggest could leave up to 50,000 civilians dead or wounded, lead to the collapse of Kyiv within days and spur a humanitarian crisis with up to 5 million refugees. “As of this moment, I am convinced he has made the decision,” to invade Ukraine, President Joe Biden said today, citing “significant intelligence capability” for his assessment.

But if Putin thinks this level of catastrophe will do anything to change Ukraine’s perception of Russia, it’s a “massive fail,” said Steven Pifer, a former ambassador to Ukraine from 1998 to 2000 and now a William J. Perry fellow at Stanford.

The nearly-200,000 troops lined up for an attack, Pifer said, have galvanized NATO and increased the West’s support for Kyiv.

“It’s a huge miscalculation,” Pifer said.

Not only have NATO and Europe stuck together, but also Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hasn’t blinked — likely surprising Putin, Taylor said. Now the Russian president is faced with a choice: back down, agree to the proposals on the table and appear weak, Pifer said, or invade and accept a costly war.

The war would be devastating for Ukraine, Taylor said. The U.S. assesses that Russia has between 169,000 and 190,000 personnel in and near Ukraine, including troops on the border, in Belarus, occupied Crimea and other Russian-led forces in eastern Ukraine. Western officials are warning that new provocations and shellings in eastern Ukraine’s breakway regions mean Putin could use the violence as a pretext to launch an attack.

“My biggest concern is the number of Ukrainians that will be killed, and it’s gonna be military and civilian. The Russians have the capabilities,” Taylor said, from ballistic missiles and aircrafts to naval ship mounted artillery and missiles. “I’ve got a lot of friends there, and I worry about that.”

To understand the current moment, we have to look at Putin’s choices over the last decade in particular, Pifer said. While Putin’s policies have long alienated Ukraine, his actions in 2014 hardened Ukrainians’ anti-Russia sentiments, he said. Russia invaded and annexed Crimea and threw its support behind conflict in Ukraine’s Donbas region soon after. The fighting, which began more than seven years ago, has killed more than 14,000 people.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Now 62 percent of Ukrainians support their country joining NATO, the highest percentage since 2014, according to Rating, a Ukrainian polling agency. Given NATO’s unwillingness to agree to further enlargement right now, it’s sort of a non-issue, Pifer said. But the figure does reflect Ukraine’s shift in attitude — and the unlikely prospect that Russia would be able to exert the kind of influence over Kyiv that it wants any time soon, Pifer said.

Putin is misjudging the ability of his military to invade at a relatively low cost, Pifer said, and he’s likely underestimating the degree of resistance he’ll face from Ukrainians.

“I was there two weeks ago,” Pifer said. “And people are basically saying if the Russians come, I’m going to get a gun.”

I have my own emotional basis for dreading Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. But the United States also has intimate reasons for using every diplomatic and economic measure to defend Ukraine. Despite all the deserved criticism of American foreign policy in the 21st century, Ukraine is the place where the United States has best fostered democracy. The State Department has prodded the government in Kyiv to fight corruption. American NGOs have nurtured a robust civil society. Thanks to promises of American protection, Ukraine has had the confidence to step away from Russia’s authoritarian shadow.

One of the most poignant expressions of this idealism is a speech that then–Vice President Joe Biden delivered to the Ukrainian Rada in April 2014, soon after the occupation of the Maidan. Perhaps not surprisingly, he dispensed with the prepared text and riffed in his high folksy style. With all the requisite self-effacing caveats about not wanting to impose American values, he pleaded with the Parliament to combat corruption, especially in the energy sector, and to embrace democratic practice. But what’s most striking about the speech is its familiar tone: “We stand with you. And it is not just a foreign-policy judgment, it is a personal—it’s an emotional commitment.”

In a way, that line helps capture the core rationale behind the Biden administration’s Ukraine policy. From their very arrival in office, Biden and his advisers hoped to avoid a confrontation with Putin, because they didn’t consider him an important strategic competitor. Every phone call and meeting with Putin was taken in the spirit of prevention. Biden hoped to make Putin feel big so that he wouldn’t act out and distract the president from focusing his attention on China, the overriding priority of the administration.

BS. I've never been confused for a minute. I fellowship with a church that encourages signing in on the internet by indicating your name with an upfront declaration of the pronouns you prefer. Mine are "he, him, his."

At first, I refused to do that because I thought it was discriminatory against others who are gay. But then I was told that they appreciate that kind of "upfrontedness," which encourages them to do the same.
