It was an allegation that dogged Donald Trump for three years: a claim the Republican nominee-turned-president had a secret backdoor communications channel with the Kremlin. Repeated endlessly by the liberal media, the allegation was never true. Now, Special Counsel John Durham is raising the tantalizing specter the FBI might never have investigated the claim during the height of the 2016 presidential election if the man who brought it to the bureau — Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann — had told the truth about its origins.
In his latest court filing this weekend, Durham gave his most sweeping assessment yet about the consequences of Sussmann hiding the fact that he brought the allegation to the FBI on behalf of the Clinton campaign and a computer executive aligned with the campaign. "Had the defendant truthfully informed the FBI General Counsel that he was providing the information on behalf of one or more clients, as opposed to merely acting as a 'good citizen,' the FBI General Counsel and other FBI personnel might have asked a multitude of additional questions material to the case initiation process," Durham told the court in a memo filed late Friday. "Given the temporal proximity to the 2016 U.S. presidential election, the FBI also might have taken any number of different steps in initiating, delaying, or declining the initiation of this matter had it known at the time that the defendant was providing information on behalf of the Clinton campaign and a technology executive at a private company," he added. So the reality here is that had Sussman never gone to the FBI to begin with there may have never been a "Russian collusion" narrative. The argument Durham is making is that had Sussman been honest about the fact that he was working for Trump's political opponent when he supplied the FBI with dubious fake intelligence that suggested Trump was conspiring with the Russians, then the FBI would have been compelled to ask more questions and take the information with a grain of salt.
Obviously, hindsight being 20-20 and all, we now know that Trump did not conspire with the Russians and even the so called "Russian interference" was little more than a Russian PR firm sending out social media advertising and creating fake social media accounts to spread gossip. Something that is done by millions of people for a million different reasons. In spite of certain "conclusions" the facts show that the fake social media accounts went after both candidates and the more accurate and honest manner to describe any Russian interference was to garner disruption more than helping any one candidate.
The entire two years of Russian collusion was so demanding and overwhelming that it is still EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for  the "bad orange man" crowd to accept that there was literally no truth to it. You still see the batshit crazy Trump haters demand (even after it was proven false) that Trump was a Russian asset who sought out Russian support. They still use the false assumption that there was some sort of nefarious relationship between Trump and Putin in all sorts of references.
But imagine that none of that would have every been at issue. That Trump would have just won the election, been President, there would have been no FBI investigation, no Congressional investigations, no Special Counsel. Just a normal average everyday Presidency (as it should have been). Would the Democrat had been so quick to "impeach him" had they not been bitter when the Russian collusion narrative been debunked? Would anything have been the same without a Russian collusion narrative?
We can only sit and wonder...

Sanctions Are An Act of War
Biden’s war of choice against Russia is not justified by America’s most fundamental laws.
By Josiah Lippincott
March 8, 2022
The United States is at war with Russia. Without a vote in Congress, a specific announcement by the president, or even meaningful awareness on the part of the bulk of the populace, the United States has stumbled into conflict with another nuclear power.
True enough, American “boots on the ground” are not yet (openly) engaged in combat in Ukraine. But the devastating sanctions put in place unilaterally by Joe Biden on Russian property constitute an act of war nonetheless. On Tuesday morning, Biden announced he was unilaterally banning the importation of Russian fuel and oil products into the United States. This decision is a direct attack on the Russian economy. It is designed to dictate a certain political outcome to the Russian government.
Such a dramatic act, therefore, constitutes participation in armed conflict against the Russian regime. It is an act of war.

Sanctions are a tool to avoid starting a war.

Reject Liz Cheney’s War
The first step to take in returning to peaceful and normal relations with Russia will be to reject the Wyoming Republican’s warmongering.
By Chris Buskirk
March 7, 2022
After nearly two weeks, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues with the Russian military steadily gaining ground and methodically taking control of key assets such as highways, bridges, airports, and power plants. As the Russians advance, they are also encircling and cutting off the main concentrations of the Ukrainian military. If those encirclements are completed, it could get ugly.
It’s into that cauldron that U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) would plunge the United States. On “Face the Nation” last week Cheney was nothing short of bellicose calling for escalation across the board.
Cheney wants Biden to expand already sweeping sanctions and seize the Russian Central Bank’s foreign reserves. Weaponizing the dollar and the banking system in this way, she apparently fails to realize, carries with it risks to dollar-supremacy and the global dominance of American financial institutions. As other nations watch America use the dollar and important elements of the international banking infrastructure such as the SWIFT system as weapons, they will realize their own vulnerability and take steps to protect themselves from U.S.-dominated financial systems. China already offers alternatives and Biden’s actions are the best advertising for those systems they could ask for.
There is also an immediate threat of a trust crisis in the European banking system, which has significant exposure to Russia. This could cause a contagion-effect that negatively impacts American banks and financial markets and through them, the lives of ordinary Americans. Remember what happened in 2008.
But economic war, which would be bad enough, is not enough for Cheney. When asked, she refused to rule out direct American military intervention with Russia and, in fact, urged deploying American troops close to the Russian border and flooding Ukraine with weapons. Though many Americans favor “arming the Ukranians,” we should learn from rather than repeat past mistakes where we have followed this policy and enabled years-long civil wars as in Libya, Syria, and the former Yugoslavia—to say nothing of Iraq and Afghanistan.
It’s not isolationist to recognize this isn’t our fight. It’s whoever cares in Europe, let them waste their blood and treasure for neocon fantasies and feigned indignation.

House Democrats on Wednesday cleared a $1.5 trillion spending compromise — along with billions in emergency aid for Ukraine — in a major victory for President Joe Biden, even as a rank-and-file revolt forced party leaders to strip billions of dollars in pandemic relief from the same bill.
Democrats were jubilant over the passage of the bill, which was the result of months of protracted battles with GOP leaders. But it wasn’t without last-minute drama in the House, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team were forced to yank the White House’s $15 billion coronavirus relief request out of their bill after dozens of members revolted against paying for that aid using their home states’ stockpiles of pandemic cash.
The decision to ditch the virus aid was a tough setback for party leaders and Biden, who now have no clear path to deliver that money — intended to help bolster global vaccinations and prepare the U.S. for another variant.
You two are dumb as rocks
“The House on Wednesday passed a sprawling $1.5 trillion federal spending bill that includes a huge infusion of aid for war-torn Ukraine and money to keep the government funded through September, after jettisoning a package to fund President Biden’s new Covid-19 response effort,” the New York Times reports.
“Bipartisan approval of the first major government spending legislation of Mr. Biden’s presidency marked the first time since he took office that Democrats were able to use their congressional majorities and control of the White House to set funding levels for their priorities, including climate resilience, public education and child care.”
“But the exclusion of the $15.6 billion pandemic aid package, amid disputes about its cost that threatened to derail the broader legislation, infuriated the White House and frustrated Democratic leaders, leaving the fate of the Biden administration’s coronavirus strategy uncertain.”
People like kputz and rrb have been exposed as
Miami-based Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio has been indicted on federal conspiracy charges for allegedly playing a leadership role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol Building. Discussing this indictment in an editorial published on March 8, the Miami Herald’s editorial board cites Tarrio as part of a disturbing trend of far-right extremism in the Sunshine State.
“Miami’s own homegrown extremist, former Proud Boys National Chairman Henry ‘Enrique’ Tarrio, has been indicted on grounds he directed his group during the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol — another indication of the Republican Party’s terrifying tolerance of White supremacy and extremism,” the Herald’s editorial board explains. “And Florida is once again at center stage.”
Tarrio himself wasn’t in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, but other members of the Proud Boys were. And U.S. Department of Justice prosecutors allege that he encouraged the Capitol attack while remaining in Florida.
“Tarrio wasn’t at the U.S. Capitol on the day of the attack and has said in the past that his group played no part in the violence,” the Herald’s editorial board writes. “But let’s be real: He couldn’t go to Washington. He’d been ordered to stay out of the city because he was on bond for a criminal case involving burning a Black Lives Matter banner stolen from a historic African-American church in Washington during a pro-Trump rally in December 2020. He later pleaded guilty to burning the banner and attempted possession of high-capacity magazines — offenses that earned him five months in jail.”
The Herald’s editorial board continues, “There’s no doubt, though, that Tarrio’s group was represented on January 6 in that violent crowd that swarmed the Capitol and chanted for the vice president to be hung because he wouldn’t do Trump’s illegal bidding. Several Proud Boys members have been charged with conspiracy in the attack. Tarrio himself claimed credit for the assault on social media after the attack and in an encrypted chat room, federal authorities said. Investigators have long been focused on the role that Proud Boys and another extremist group, Oath Keepers, played in organizing the assault.”
The Herald’s editorial board goes on to say that the indictment of Tarrio is “just the latest in a series of extremist connections to Florida, and to Republicans.”
“As of January, more Floridians had been charged in the January 6 riots than from any other state,” the Herald’s editorial board observes. “National figures with strong political connections are from Florida, including Roger Stone, a Donald Trump pal who has associated with both Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. Gov. Ron DeSantis participated in the Republican Party’s attempt to sanitize January 6 by refusing to call the attack an insurrection.”
Orlando, the Herald’s editorial board adds, was where the 2022 America First Political Action Conference was held in February — with Republican speakers who included Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona. AFPAC was founded by White nationalist Nick Fuentes and is often described as a White nationalist version of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
“So now, prosecutors have added Tarrio’s name to the list of five other Proud Boys charged under this latest January 6 indictment,” the Herald’s editorial board observes. “Republicans will, no doubt, continue to deny they have a White supremacy problem. And we can add this episode to the shameful list of extremist connections already distinguishing Florida.”

OK – so which is it? Are there biological research labs in Ukraine or not? The Biden gang admitted to the existence of biolabs on Tuesday but then changed their story on Wednesday.
Yesterday, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland admitted during testimony before a US Senate committee the existence of biological research labs in Ukraine.
But then this afternoon, less than 24 hours later, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that reports of biolabs in Ukraine were fake news propagated by Russia and Ukraine.
TRENDING: **BREAKING VIDEO** Russia Tells the US "We Have Found Your Biological Weapons" (VIDEO)
Psaki then said that we should be ready for Russia possibly using chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine.
The Daily Mail also reported on Biden’s White House latest claims that there were no biological research labs in Ukraine after admitting to this fact yesterday
The White House is warning on Wednesday that Russia’s autocratic leader Vladimir Putin could use chemical or biological weapons in a massive escalation of his unprovoked and deadly attack on Ukraine.
Press Secretary Jen Psaki sharply criticized Moscow’s claim that the U.S. is building bioweapons labs in Ukraine as ‘preposterous propaganda.’…
…She denied that the U.S. government produces or owns any biological weapons, and said it is in full compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Biological Weapons Convention.
She pointed out Russia’s own track record of allegations of using chemical and biological weapons against its enemies, adding: ‘It’s Russia that has long maintained a biological weapons program in violation of international law.’
‘Also, Russia has a track record of accusing the West of the very violations that Russia itself is perpetrating. In December, Russia falsely accused the U.S. of deploying contractors with chemical weapons in Ukraine.’
Tucker Carlson tonight exposed the fake fact-checking by US News. During his discussion on topic the State Department released a lawyerly note, unsolicited.

So now the Biden gang tells us not to believe what the Biden gang told us to believe only yesterday? This is a clown show.
FLORIDA’S EXTREMIST CONNECTIONS Tarrio’s indictment is just the latest in a series of extremist connections to Florida, and to Republicans. As of January, more Floridians had been charged in the Jan. 6 riots than from any other state. National figures with strong political connections are from Florida, including Roger Stone, a Donald Trump pal who has associated with both Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. Gov. Ron DeSantis participated in the Republican Party’s attempt to sanitize Jan. 6 by refusing to call the attack an insurrection because, “a year later, nobody has been charged with that.” (Two days later, they were.) He followed that by refusing to publicly denounce neo-Nazis who openly demonstrated in Orlando. And just last month, a white nationalist conference that was held in Orlando featured two Republican members of the U.S. Congress: Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar. Eventually, Republican leaders, some who were also in town for the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, came out against their appearance there, but it was too late. Once again, the message of tolerance was no doubt received. So now prosecutors have added Tarrio’s name to the list of five other Proud Boys charged under this latest Jan. 6 indictment. Republicans will, no doubt, continue to deny they have a white supremacy problem. And we can add this episode to the shameful list of extremist connections already distinguishing Florida.

Announcing the ban on Tuesday, Biden said, accurately: “Since Putin began his military buildup on Ukrainian borders, just since then, the price of the gas at the pump in America went up 75 cents. And with this action, it’s going to go up further.” He dubbed it “Putin’s price hike” and said “Russia is responsible.”
Republicans leaped to Putin’s defense.
“These aren’t Putin prices. They’re President Biden’s prices,” House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy said during a news conference on Wednesday. Via tweet, he claimed: “Gas prices started rising the day President Biden took office — when he canceled the Keystone Pipeline and halted new drilling on federal lands.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik (N.Y.), head of the House Republican Conference, added: “Joe Biden blames Russia for skyrocketing gas prices. But make no mistake — Biden’s war on American energy is to blame.”
Scores of Republicans piled on. The GOP side of the House Energy and Commerce Committee tweeted: “Russia isn’t ‘responsible’. Biden’s shutdown of American energy is.”
That’s just a gusher of mendacity.
Gas prices “started rising the day President Biden took office”? Wrong. They’ve been on an upward trend since bottoming out in April 2020 at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. This is because of booming demand during the recovery — not because of Biden’s policies (or President Donald Trump’s, for that matter).
Canceling the Keystone XL pipeline caused gas prices to rise? Wrong. It was only 10 percent done when Biden canceled it, and its owners didn’t expect to open it until 2023 at the earliest.
Biden “halted new drilling on federal lands”? Wrong. After a temporary halt in new leases, Biden has outpaced Trump in new drilling permits for public lands, The Post reported.
As for Biden’s “shutdown of American energy,” U.S. production has increased under Biden from 9.7 million barrels a day to 11.6 million barrels. The number of oil rigs operating was at 172 in July 2020, E&E News reports. Now, 519 are in operation. U.S. production is forecast to set a record next year.
What’s holding back oil production isn’t government policy. U.S. producers still have 4,400 wells already approved and drilled that are not yet producing. They aren’t drilling more because of a shortage of workers and equipment and, particularly, investors’ greed. As The Post reported, major U.S. oil companies say they would rather use their profits “to boost payouts to shareholders” than “rush to drill new wells.”
Blaming Biden for the spike in prices around Russia’s Ukraine invasion isn’t just false — it’s an assist to Putin that damages national security.
Polls show that Americans — Republicans and Democrats alike — favor banning Russian oil imports, even if that increases energy prices. Seventy-nine percent said so in a Wall Street Journal poll this week. Americans know the stakes, and they are willing to sacrifice.
But what happens if Republican lawmakers and their Fox News masters persuade their supporters to believe that Biden, not Putin, is to blame for their problems? Their willingness to sacrifice dissipates — and so does their support for the fight against Putin.
It’s lucky this hasn’t happened already. Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, after parroting Kremlin talking points justifying its invasion of Ukraine, has pivoted to blaming the United States for provoking Putin. “Why in the world would the United States intentionally seek war with Russia?” he asked on Monday night.
Trump himself has praised Putin’s acuity, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has called for the United States to appease Russia by abandoning its support for Ukrainian membership in NATO, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), after proposing to impeach Biden for “threatening war” with Russia, now asks: “How is banning Russian oil (10 percent of our imports) helping reduce gas prices hurting Americans?”
Fighting Russian aggression while avoiding World War III is hard enough. With Republicans acting in bad faith, it’s that much harder.

I think that we are watching the second collapse of the Soviet Union.
Far more important than gasoline prices.
U.S. production has increased under Biden from 9.7 million barrels a day to 11.6 million barrels. The number of oil rigs operating was at 172 in July 2020, E&E News reports. Now, 519 are in operation. U.S. production is forecast to set a record next year.

ANTALYA, Turkey — The first high-level talks between Ukraine and Russia since the invasion began failed to produce an agreement on Thursday, as Ukraine’s foreign minister said the country would not “surrender.” His Russian counterpart was defiant, insisting Russia “will manage” against a rising battery of Western sanctions seeking to end the war.
“Ukraine is strong. Ukraine is fighting. Ukraine made Russian initial plans fail," Ukraine’s Dmytro Kuleba said at a news conference following talks in Turkey. "We are ready to seek balanced diplomatic solutions to put an end to this war, but we will not surrender.” Kuleba said he received no response to Ukrainian proposals for a 24-hour ceasefire as well as humanitarian relief for the besieged city of Mariupol.
There isn’t an inflation problem, there is a corporate greed problem. Gas companies are using the Ukraine situation to hike prices on the consumer to maximize their profits. This is nothing more than price gouging and one of the most unpatriotic things a company could do when a foreign adversary is attempting to start WW III.
Roger says theres no inflation problem. 3 mo,the ago, he said there was but it was all covid's fault. He will believe whatever he is told. Some genius.
Americans are not demanding electric cars. They want to know why we can't reduce our dependence on foreign oil and produce our own. Good question.
Myballs is correct on Roger.
Roger had gasoline at "$3.00" by last fall.
He also cheered around july 4th when Biden tapped the Strategic oil supply and gas dropped two cents.
In December bisrn took credit for gas dropping 12 cents/gal. Now that its up $2/gal, there's nothing he can do. What a shallow phoney.

Demand for workers remained close to a record high at the start of the year despite the disruptions of the Omicron Covid-19 variant, another sign of a muted impact of the variant on the U.S. economy.

The Labor Department on Wednesday said there were 11.3 million job openings in January, down slightly from the previous month’s revised 11.4 million—a new high. The number of times workers quit their jobs fell slightly to 4.3 million while hiring remained at 6.5 million at the start of the year.
Separate private-sector figures showed that employers had more than 10.8 million openings at the end of February, according to job search site ZipRecruiter, a slight increase from the prior month’s estimate. Indeed, another job-search site, estimates there were 10.7 million job openings in mid-February. The Labor Department numbers lag behind private-sector data by about a month.
Last year, workers quit their jobs at the highest rate on records back to 2000, the Labor Department said. That shows Americans were willing to leave employment in search of better wages or more desirable perks, including remote work, economists say.
Job openings also rose to a record last year, remaining above 10 million for the entire second half of last year, according to the Labor Department’s revision of 2021 data. Increased demand for labor was across the board, and was focused more in consumer-facing industries such as tourism, which are still seeing elevated job opening totals as the pandemic continues.
Heard on the Street: There Will Never Be Enough Workers
“Job openings are still very strong and we are seeing a little bit of a flattening, but they’re plateauing from enormous heights,” said Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter.
Compared with February 2020 levels, job openings have risen the fastest in manufacturing, leisure and hospitality, education and health services, according to an analysis by Indeed.
Other indicators have shown that the U.S. economy’s recovery remained on solid footing in recent months, despite temporary disruptions due to the Omicron variant. Employers have added more than a million jobs in the first two months of this year, consumer spending rose at a brisk pace in January, and the unemployment rate is edging closer to its pre-pandemic level

Goldman Sachs says it is exiting Russia, becoming one of the first major global investment banks to do so after the country invaded its neighbor Ukraine last month.
The bank said Thursday in an e-mailed statement that it is working to wind down operations in Russia.
“Goldman Sachs is winding down its business in Russia in compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements,” said a bank spokeswoman. “We are focused on supporting our clients across the globe in managing or closing out pre-existing obligations in the market and ensuring the wellbeing of our people.”
Most big U.S. banks had modest operations in Russia, a geographically large nation with a relatively small economy. Citigroup had the biggest exposure as of year-end 2021 at $9.8 billion, according to filings. Goldman was estimated to have $940 million in total exposure, including $650 million in credit, or less than 10 basis points of its total assets, according to Bank of America analysts.
While New York-based Goldman is shuttering its operations in Russia, it still facilitates trades in debt securities tied to the nation, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the bank’s move.
“In our role as market-maker standing between buyers and sellers, we are helping our clients reduce their risk in Russian securities which trade in the secondary market, not seeking to speculate,” the bank said.
With reporting from CNBC’s Jim Forkin.

Merrick Garland says DOJ may prosecute Trump for Jan. 6: 'We are not avoiding political cases'
Travis Gettys
March 10, 2022
Attorney general Merrick Garland pledged that the Department of Justice would not shy away from Jan. 6 evidence that implicates Donald Trump or his inner circle.
The House select committee has asserted that Trump committed multiple criminal acts as he sought to overturn his 2020 election loss, and but the attorney general assured NPR that the Justice Department would pursue charges against anyone involved in the U.S. Capitol riot who violated the law.
"We are not avoiding cases that are political or cases that are controversial or sensitive," Garland told NPR. "What we are avoiding is making decisions on a political basis, on a partisan basis."
Garland said the department had already allocated massive resources to investigating and prosecuting activity related to the insurrection.
"Every FBI office, almost every U.S. attorney's office in the country is working on this matter," Garland said. "We've issued thousands of subpoenas, seized and examined thousands of electronic devices, examined terabytes of data, thousands of hours of videos. People are working every day, 24-7, and are fully aware of how important this is. This had to do with the interference with the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to another, and it doesn't get more important than that."
Prosecutors won their first conviction this week in federal court against a Jan. 6 rioter with the guilty verdict against former Texas oil worker Guy Reffitt, and that followed a guilty plea to seditious conspiracy by an Alabama man who was affiliated with the Oath Keepers militia.
"We begin with the cases that are right in front of us with the overt actions and then we build from there, and that is a process that we will continue to build until we hold everyone accountable who committed criminal acts with respect to Jan. 6," Garland said.

Bush is a real Republican, unlike Trump who is a Putin supporter who called him a genius and a great leader

Biden is the President?
Roger, James and Denise, do you own a EV?
Myballs said,
I see dems are still clinging to the same tired old playbook. Bush is Hitler. Trump is Putin. Wow, some real intellect going on there.
_______
No, Trump is not as smart as either Hitler or Putin,
and he is NOT either of them.
I will tell you something true, however:
Trump has expressed admiration for both of them.
Also for Kim Jong-un.
Also for other dictators.
Roger, IF your oil production numbers are correct, do you see Biden taking us back to energy independence?
Is Hunter Biden still getting paid millions by Russia and China?
along with the "big guy" whoever that is ?
And why is Biden using Russia (along) with China to "negotiate" for us in a Iran "deal"

What You’ll See on Russian TV
10:47 am EST
Olga Khazan:
“In Russia’s version of the war,
Russians are liberators, Ukrainians are Nazis,
and the West is full of mendacious hypocrites.
To turn on Russian TV news is to enter a parallel universe,
one where even the word war is forbidden.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government has now blocked or restricted any other sources of coverage,
so this is the only version of the world most Russians see.
“To get a sense of what Russians are told about the war,
I fired up Russian state TV for a few hours a day over the past week from my laptop.
“Hosts and panelists stick closely to the same Kremlin talking points,
lending the broadcasts an endless, looping quality,
even by cable-TV standards.
One panel of white guys who love Putin dissolves into another,
and another.”

This is such an amazing and revealing clip. A reporter who covers the Pentagon reads a statement from the DoD word for word, and then -- when asked for evidence -- says that the evidence is what she just read: namely, the Pentagon denial! Absolutely how many journalists think
