Could you imagine a war that created such devastating humanitarian conditions that 25 million Americans would choose to leave their homes and seek refuge in another country... approximately three weeks into a conflict?
This is over 7% of the Ukrainian population.
Do we really seem to care? Of course we do! After all we have taken custody of some really large boats owned by rich Russians and recanted our preferred trading standing status with Russia. We've also said really mean things about Putin, insulted the Russian Army alot, and our media is telling everyone how brave the Ukrainians are for standing their ground and dying for their cause.
What a comfort that must be to these Ukrainians as they hike away to Moldova, Poland, or some other country to escape the carnage. Probably humming god bless America as they tread along.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia are major oil producing nations. The UAE recently said it wants to increase oil production and will encourage the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) cartel to ramp up supply.
President Joe Biden is expected to announce another $800 million in aid on Thursday.
AFT White House correspondent Sebastian Smith reporters the package with contain roughly 600 Stinger anti-aircraft systems and 2,600 Javelin anti-armor systems.
The package will contain a few hundred shotguns and machine guns, 40 million rounds of ammunition and "over 1 million grenade, mortar, and artillery rounds."

It is now well known that the Ukrainian president is a former comic, but this is a misleading representation of his past career. Vlodymyr Zelenskyy is a seasoned performer with a string of professional roles, including the voice of Paddington Bear (the Ukrainian language version), Love in the Big City and 8 New Dates.
In a strange quirk of fate, he most recently played a fictional school teacher unexpectedly elected as the Ukrainian president in Servant of the People (now being shown on Channel 4 in the UK to up the weirdness of the situation). The series helped catapult Zelensky to a landslide victory in the real-life 2019 presidential elections.
Now the world is in awe of this heroic man courageously leading his country from the depths of war-torn Kiev. His passionate speeches reduce people to tears and inspire governments.
His superior communication skills influence world leaders through an intense bombardment of factual statements. Well researched questions with solutions are presented, demonstrating thoughtfulness and intelligence, while he is unafraid to show emotion when describing the distress of his country’s circumstances.
Zelenskyy’s appointment as president may have been influenced by his presidential acting role, but his performance skills are now just as crucial in the propaganda war. Where conflict is constantly live streamed or heavily censored through social media and television, performance skills play a major part in winning the battle for information.
The president’s experience as a skilled performer reveals a useful armoury of weapons now being deployed against the might of the Russian invasion.
This country be a game changer
The Biden administration is considering providing Ukraine with U.S.-made killer drones — cutting-edge guided missiles that could accurately target Russian tanks and artillery positions from miles away — two congressional officials briefed on the matter told NBC News.
No decisions have been made, but the officials said the White House is mulling whether to equip Ukraine with explosives-laden “loitering missiles,” called Switchblades, as part of a new package of military aid President Joe Biden is expected to discuss Wednesday.
There are two variants of the weapon, the Switchblade 300 and the 600, that have been sold to U.S. Special Operations Command by manufacturer AeroVironment, based in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. The 300 is designed for pinpoint strikes on personnel, and the larger 600 is meant to destroy tanks and other armored vehicles.
NBC News reported on an exclusive demonstration of the Switchblade 300 in December. AeroVironment officials said at the time that the government forbade them from demonstrating the 600.
AeroVironment officials did not respond to requests for comment.
“We stand with our allies and sovereign nations in their right to protect their homelands and their very lives when this fundamental right is threatened,” the company said in a statement on its website headlined “AeroVironment stands with the people of Ukraine and all of NATO.”
The Switchblades are essentially robotic smart bombs, equipped with cameras, guidance systems and explosives. They can be programmed to automatically strike targets miles away, and they can be steered around objectives until the time is right to strike. The company says the 600 can fly for 40 minutes and up to 50 miles.
They are single-use weapons, which is why they have been dubbed “kamikaze drones.” But they are orders of magnitude cheaper than the Hellfire missiles fired by U.S. Reaper drones. The 300 can cost as little as $6,000, by some estimates.
Both weapons can be set up in minutes and launched from tubes. They fly much faster than the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones that Ukraine has been using to inflict damage on Russia, and presumably they would be able to penetrate the spotty air defenses Russia is maintaining over its forces.
If the Switchblade were given to Ukraine, it could result in the most significant use of the weapon in combat to date. The U.S. military used the Switchblade in combat under limited circumstances in Afghanistan and elsewhere but has not publicized that fact, sources familiar with the matter have said.
