“Jim – it’s Michael Sussmann. I have something time-sensitive (and sensitive) I need to discuss,” Sussmann wrote to the FBI top lawyer. “Do you have availibilty [sic] for a short meeting tomorrow? I’m coming on my own – not on behalf of a client or company – want to help the Bureau. Thanks.”
“The Special Counsel has brought a false statement charge on the basis of a purported oral statement made over five years ago for which there is only a single witness, Mr. Baker; for which there is no recording; and for which there are no contemporaneous notes by anyone who was actually in the meeting," Sussmann’s lawyers claimed last year.To be clear... is this a really big deal? Probably not in the grand scheme of things and if we never had the corrupt and deceitful Mueller Special Counsel running around charging everyone and their brother with "misleading statement" charges, we probably would not be seeing this.
But turnabout is fair play and pretty much everyone associated with Hillary and the total scam that was the "Russian collusion" lie should be prosecuted in the same fashion that people like George Papadopoulos and General Flynn were. Sussman did considerably worse than Papadopoulos or Flynn or pretty much anyone connected to Trump.
Mueller's minions had to literally take a truth and demand that Papadopoulos was being dishonest and they charged Flynn in spite of the fact that the FBI did not feel he lied to them.
Mueller was scum of the earth partisan piece of shit as was everyone around him. No question about that anymore and they cannot be defended. The only people worse or those associated with Clinton and who originally fed the FBI the pretense to go after Trump in what is now known as the probably the most dishonest investigation every performed by our law enforcement.
Between the lying sack of shit Clinton campaign and the hopefully corrupt and partisan Mueller special counsel, there should be more than one person charged with a crime. Unfortunately that is not how the system will work as long as we have a President still demanding that his most likely rival be charged with a crime that the AG does not want to pursue.

CPAC to Convene in Hungary
April 5, 2022 at 8:48 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
America’s most prominent conservative gathering, founded on ideals of personal liberty and limited government, convenes in Budapest next month to celebrate a European leader accused of undermining democracy and individual rights,”
Reuters reports.
“The May meeting of the Conservative Political Action Conference is seen by some Republicans as a test of how closely American conservatives are willing align themselves with a global movement of far-right, Russia-friendly strongmen embraced by former U.S. President Donald Trump.”
“The event’s keynote speaker is Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a longtime supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

63 Republicans vote against resolution expressing support for NATO
Charles R. Davis 3 hours ago
The House overwhelmingly approved a resolution expressing support for NATO on Tuesday.
The resolution passed 362-63, with support from 143 Republicans and 219 Democrats.
Sixty-three members of the GOP caucus voted against the measure.
More than 60 Republicans on Tuesday voted against a resolution expressing support for NATO and calling on President Joe Biden to strengthen the organization's committement to defending democracy.
The resolution, introduced by Rep. Gerald Connolly, a Democrat from Virginia, was backed by a majority of the GOP caucus and every Democrat who voted.
Citing the threat posed by "authoritarian regimes" as well as "internal threats from proponents of illiberalism," the resolution calls on the Biden administration to uphold NATO's "founding democratic principles." It also advocates the creation of a "Center for Democratic Resilience" within NATO's headquarters in Brussels, with the center providing member states assistance to strengthen their own democratic institutions.
The vote comes not only amid a war in Ukraine that has sent millions of refugees into neighboring NATO states, but just after the reelection of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has faced international criticism for his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin and assaults on civil society. Orban, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has won praise from some right-wing pundits in the US for his hostility to immigration and LGBTQ rights.
Republicans who voted against Tuesday's resolution included most of Trump's most loyal defenders in Congress, among them:
Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado;
Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina;
Matt Gaetz of Florida;
Paul Gosar of Arizona;
Marjorie Taylor-Greene of Georgia; and
Jim Jordan of Ohio.
Sorry, but it will be impossible for me to rape "another" child, never having raped a first one.

I do not think your pastor father would approve of you bearing false witness against me.
Are you one to talk?
Just curious...
Legal cases are not built like that.
Must be why Trump has never been indicted, charged, or convicted of anything, huh?
The difference here is that Sussmann has been indicted and has been caught pretty much red handed even lying to the judge he was trying to get to drop his case.
When you demand to the Judge that there is no evidence and then the prosecutor provides your own text messages showing the opposite... that has to look bad....
wouldn't you agree?
They have their eyes on Trump
On Tuesday, CNN reported that investigators on the House January 6 Committee have obtained the emails from pro-Trump attorney John Eastman that he had sought to keep secret.
This comes after a ruling from a Federal District Judge David Carter that Eastman's correspondence with Trump is not covered by attorney-client privilege — a ruling in which Carter also stated it was likely that Trump had committed criminal obstruction of Congress.
"One email, a draft memo for Rudy Giuliani, was obtained by the committee because the judge decided it was potentially being used to plan a crime. The memo recommended that then-Vice President Mike Pence reject some states' electors during the January 6 congressional meeting," reported Katelyn Polantz and Paul LeBlanc. "'This may have been the first time members of President Trump's team transformed a legal interpretation of the Electoral Count Act into a day-by-day plan of action,' Carter wrote."
"The select committee's efforts to obtain Eastman's emails had been closely watched in the legal community because of the panel's bold move to accuse Eastman and Trump of criminal conspiracy. The House said it believed Trump had been trying to obstruct Congress and to defraud the government by blocking his loss of the election and discussing it with Eastman," noted the report. "Still, neither Trump nor Eastman has been charged with any crimes. Further, despite the House's filings, lawmakers aren't prosecutors and can't bring charges."
Eastman was a central role in the plot to overturn the election. He drafted the infamous "coup memo" outlining a plan whereby Republican legislators in states that voted for Joe Biden would submit "alternate" electors for Trump, and former Vice President Mike Pence would declare the legitimate electors from these states invalid and throw the election to the House, where Republicans controlled enough delegations to swing the result to Trump.
Pence believed this plan was illegal and refused to go forward with it. Eastman, who has since tried to distance himself from the memo, also faces investigation by the California State Bar.
Who believes emails
The select committee’s efforts to obtain Eastman’s emails had been closely watched in the legal community because of the panel’s bold move to accuse Eastman and Trump of criminal conspiracy. The House said it believed Trump had been trying to obstruct Congress and to defraud the government by blocking his loss of the election and discussing it with Eastman.

Nobody on this blog believes I rape children,

but you allow those things to be said here.
You, like much of the GOP, are in large measue reponsible for the sad state of current political discourse in this country, which has become so devoid of civility and respect that it reflects the sewer and the gutter and sounds like what used only to come out of the mouths of gang bosses.
And never touched on your coveting problem nor your propensity to lie. Oh misremembered…..
How Christian!
Yes, for I never knowingly bear false witness against anyone.
You never spread the absolute and obvious lies about Trump colluding with the Russians to "steal" the election from Hillary Clinton? Something that has not only been proven to be "false witness" but we now know that the entire thing was a setup manipulated by Clinton herself?
You never spread the "good people hoax" or the "drinking bleach hoax" or any of the other 101 different obviously lies spread against the former President?
Either you blatantly bear false witness or you are very easily manipulated? In fact, so easily manipulated that it seems obvious that it's a conscious decision.
That is just things about Trump?
but you allow those things to be said here.

Reverend...
You have Roger on this cite who everyday posts about 101 different comments about a Jan 6th committee whose sole purpose is to try to come up with dirt on Trump to try to disqualify him from running in 2024...
That is just the latest. We had a fake FBI investigation, three fake congressional investigations and a two year fake special counsel... all pushing a known fake allegation that they never proved, but intended to bring down Trump?
Two different impeachments, one of which we now know was an obvious attempt to shield Hunter Biden from being investigated...
This is just how you treat Trump?
But you blame the entire political discourse on Republicans?
That seems to be some serious bearing of false witness.
Or someone not willing to see anything other than exactly what they want to see... which is really just an excuse to bear false witness.

Obama returned to the White House on Tuesday for the first time since the bleak winter morning in January 2017 when he departed it alongside Trump, who seemed intent on erasing the first Black president.

Amazon workers' union victory is turbocharging a new labor movement

Amazon workers' historic win last week in New York may wind up spurring union growth around the country after decades of decline, at a time when a tight labor market is empowering workers in ways that once seemed impossible.
The big picture: A remarkable confluence of factors — including a pro-labor White House, once-in-a-century pandemic and a super tight labor market — helped Amazon workers in Staten Island achieve a David and Goliath union victory, with almost no backing from traditional institutional labor.
"It has electrified all of our members and organizing leaders," said Mary Kay Henry, president of the 2 million-member Service Employees International Union (SEIU).The new Staten Island Amazon union has been contacted by employees at 50 other buildings in the U.S., according to the organization's president and founder, Christian Smalls.Another Amazon warehouse across the street from Smalls' building has a union vote scheduled for April, said Seth Goldstein, the group's lawyer. And a separate group of AmazonFresh employees — inspired by the Staten Island efforts — voted to unionize and are moving forward, he noted.
What's next: Other large employers are on edge about what this means for them.
"If Amazon, the consummate on-top-of-things company, can get bested after spending $4 million last year on labor relations consultants, then other companies may be more vulnerable to organizing than they’ve long seemed," Josh Eidelson wrote in Bloomberg.Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz on Monday said the company was "being assaulted, in many ways, by the threat of unionization."
Between the lines: This wouldn't have happened without COVID-19. Smalls started organizing in protest of the warehouse's health and safety conditions during the pandemic.
The win also may not have happened if a different president was in the White House. One of the first things Biden did on inauguration day was fire the management-friendly general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, ultimately replacing him with Jennifer Abruzzo, who's enforced the labor laws with a zeal not seen in a long time.A key NLRB settlement with Amazon in December paved the way, enabling organizers to talk to warehouse workers even when they weren't on duty, over-riding a company policy that permitted workers to stay at work for just 15 minutes after their shift."It would have been a very different outcome under a Trump board," said Ana Avendaño, a former lawyer at the AFL-CIO who now teaches law at University of Texas, Austin. The settlement was national and energized workers around the country.Missteps from Amazon didn't help: a leaked memo in which the company's lawyer called Smalls, who is Black, "not smart, or articulate." Or, the way the company handled a tornado in Illinois that killed six workers."There were just a lot of things that really, you know, make you wonder about whether Amazon is truly the woke company it pretends to be," said Goldstein, a longtime labor lawyer (he represented the Kickstarter union) who handled this effort pro bono — accepting a red Amazon labor union T-shirt for his fee.
This victory is also a rebuke to traditional labor unions, which have thus far failed in their efforts to unionize other Amazon locations.
The Staten Island organizers took some risks that traditional unions would've avoided and, Avendaño said, their non-affiliation with Big Labor was a selling point in organizing."There is no strong leadership in [institutional labor]," said Avendaño. Going forward, the union groups will offer support to Smalls' group as it moves into the next stages.
This is bottom up economic development.

The Biden administration on Wednesday announced a wave of new sanctions targeting Russia’s two largest banks, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s daughters, the wife and daughter of Russia’s top diplomat and blacklisted members of Russia’s Security Council.
A senior administration official said the measures are being imposed in alignment with allies in the Group of Seven nations and are in response to “the sickening brutality” recently discovered in the Kyiv suburb of Bucha following the retreat of Russian forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of committing genocide, while the U.S. and other international leaders have said the images of civilians discovered bound, shot at close range, piled in cellars and left for dead on the street likely amount to war crimes.

November is COMING:
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the Senate Republican-aligned campaign arm, announced a “record-breaking” fundraising haul for March and the first quarter fundraising total, according to a press release.
The NRSC said the $13.28 million brought in for March and $43 million total for the first quarter of the election year is more than the committee or its Democrat counterpart, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), has ever raised in the month of March or in any first quarter.
The committee noted it had 96,933 donations in March, while 16,041 were first-time donors. The committee touted that 99 percent of the donations were $100 or less for the ninth month in a row.
The committee has also reported $44.1 million cash in hand, which breaks its record for the highest amount of available cash in the history of both Republican and Democrat committees, according to the press release. The committee noted it has zero debt to pay off.

The Federal Grand Jury may lead to prosecution of the former President for obstruction of Congress’s processes. It is a federal law.
Among the challenges facing the federal grand jury recently empaneled to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol is the sheer number of people who might have information relevant to its inquiry.
According to a subpoena issued by the grand jury, prosecutors are asking for records about people who organized or spoke at several pro-Trump rallies after the election. They presumably include two events in Washington in November and December 2020 that preceded the gathering on the Ellipse near the White House on Jan. 6, 2021, where President Donald J. Trump told the crowd to descend on the Capitol.
The subpoena is also seeking records about anyone who provided security at those events and about those who were deemed to be “V.I.P. attendees.”
Moreover, it requests information about any members of the executive and legislative branches who may have taken part in planning or executing the rallies, or tried to “obstruct, influence, impede or delay” the certification of the presidential election.
Each of these broad categories could involve dozens of individuals. Taken together, the total number of potential witnesses — or at some point, targets — sought after by the grand jury could easily reach into the hundreds.
The investigation appears to be in its early stages and there is no way of knowing at this point where it may go, what crimes it might identify or who it may ultimately focus on. Many people of interest to investigators might be called only as witnesses.
One possible road map — at least in terms of who the grand jury may still want to hear from — is the parallel probe by the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack, which has already interviewed hundreds of witnesses, including, on Tuesday, Ivanka Trump, the former president’s daughter and adviser.

I think that is a violation of the first amendment.
What you cannot do is plan or execute a "riot" - which is not the same thing as planning or executing a "rally". Trump held hundreds of rallies. Planning and executing every last one of them was perfectly legal.

“A large wave of nine million barrels of crude oil finally departed Kazakhstan’s CPC terminal in Russian territory after 10 days of zero maritime exports,” TankerTrackers said in a tweet.
Ok James, I am in, I will treat others with the same level of "civility" I am shown.
That is not the Christian position. Jesus said that
we should treat others
as we would WANT them to treat us,
not as they DO treat us.

Crooked Hillary Clinton dead lawsuit
Donald Trump's efforts to sue Hillary Clinton over the 2016 election — that he won — suffered an apparent blow to his legal strategy.
"A federal judge — nominated to the bench by President Bill Clinton in 1996 — on Wednesday emphatically rejected Donald Trump’s demand that he recuse from Trump’s sprawling lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, declaring that there’s no legitimate basis to demand that he step back from the case," Politico reported Wednesday. "In a five-page order, Judge Donald Middlebrooks emphasized that he has never met either of the Clintons and was confirmed by unanimous consent in the Senate, requiring backing from both parties."
Trump did not offer a specific complaint against Middlebrooks.
"Middlebrooks observed that Trump filed his lawsuit in the Fort Pierce division of the Southern District of the Florida federal court and that the only District Court judge who sits in that division is a Trump appointee. However, under the court’s docketing system, the case wound up assigned to Middlebrooks, who sits in West Palm Beach. 'Despite the odds, this case landed with me instead,' Middlebrooks wrote, suggesting that Trump’s legal team was judge-shopping — seeking to get the case in front of a judge who might view it favorably," Politico explained. "He also quoted an appellate precedent observing that recusal demands are 'sometimes driven more by litigation strategies than by ethical concerns.'”
The judge also seemed to question the reading comprehension skills of Trump's attorneys.
"Given this precedent, I am not disqualified from presiding, nor should I recuse on the basis of any appearance of partiality. The three cases Plaintiff cites in his Motion compel no different conclusion, and indeed do not appear to support his arguments,"
