The McCarthy attacks another big fat liberal lie!

Why would the President forgive McCarthy after McCarthy suggested he was unfit and should resign? Because McCarthy never suggested he was unfit and should resign!

Same words, but a different understanding. The conversation here is whether or not the President should resign if he faced some sort of impeachment or 25th Amendment challenge. McCarthy believed at the time that this would pass the House and possibly even the Senate. We now know that impeachment passed the House, but not the Senate, so McCarthy's initial estimates of how many Republicans would go along with these attacks on Trump was a significant overestimation.

Obviously many Congress critters were upset by the January 6th riot in their own backyard. Rather than use this to better empathise with how the rest of the country has had to deal with riots, crimes, and such... many of these cowards demanded that this was "different" because this was an attack on "them" and thus some sort of constitutional crisis. Was McCarthy guilty of this as well? Might even have lashed out at easy targets up front? Possibly. But there is nothing in these tapes that suggests McCarthy himself thought that Trump was unfit or even that he would support the 25th amendment (he did not support impeachment).

The suggestion otherwise is..... well a lie.

Here is what Legal Insurrection had to say:

There’s no word yet on whether or not that proposed conversation between President Trump and minority leader McCarthy ever took place, but if it did, it probably went just as he said. Hey, Mr. President, it looks like the 25th Amendment resolution will pass at least the Pelosi-run House, that’s bad. It may be best if you resign rather than go down in history as removed from office for being “unable to discharge the powers and duties” of office. No? Oh, okay, I thought not
What is also notable about this released/leaked audio is what we don’t hear. We don’t hear McCarthy conspiring with Cheney to remove Trump from office; we don’t hear him state that he personally believes Trump is unfit or that he would support the 25th Amendment resolution they are discussing; we don’t hear him state that he would be upset or angry if Trump refused his advice to resign in the face of 25th Amendment removal; and we don’t hear what he’d “do” if Trump refused his advice.
In other words, this is a great big nothingburger. We already knew that McCarthy, like many in GOP leadership, was (too) quick to condemn President Trump in the hours and days immediately following J6, and we also know that he, like many in GOP leadership, very quickly changed his tune. We also know that President Trump was gracious enough to forgive him his emotional outburst and accept his apology.

Most conservatives are ignoring the latest crazy rantings of people who seem to be capable of nothing other than their latest crazy rant. But those who are addressing this are in the same boat. Pretty much every adults agrees that the attacks on McCarthy are simple more red herring that attempts to conceal the fact that Democrats are slowly destroying America with their hate and anger. McCarthy has nothing to do with anything of substance and it likely will not harm McCarthy's standing in the Republican Party at all.

Sorry liberals. But you are barking up the wrong tree again and nobody but other hateful crazed lunatics care about this. But I hear CNN+ will devote most of their airtime on this, so make sure to sign up and send them your money!

Kevin McCarthy planned to urge Trump to resign after Capitol riot..

It not impeachable.

But he said it was dangerous and that Trump was responsible for the insurrection.

It is not impeachment related but it shows that the Republican Party of today should not get elected...

They pose a higher risk than the civil war.. because they still have power...
Because he sucked the dick of Trump.

McCarthy has been a person of interest for the House committee investigating the storming of the Capitol. The committee requested an interview with McCarthy in mid-January, seeking information on his communications with Trump and White House staff in the week after the violence, including a conversation with Trump that was reportedly heated.

But if he has any information about Donald inciting the insurrection, he will try to avoid saying something under oath.

Recording captures McCarthy saying he would urge Trump to resign
Politics Apr 22, 2022 9:43 AM EDT
WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy told fellow GOP lawmakers shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection that he would urge then-President Donald Trump to resign,
according to audio posted by The New York Times and aired on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show.

In the recording of a Jan. 10 House Republican Leadership call posted by the Times Thursday night,
McCarthy is heard discussing the Democratic effort to remove Trump from office and saying he would tell Trump,
“I think it will pass and it would be my recommendation he should resign.”

It’s unclear whether McCarthy, who is in line to become House speaker if Republicans gain control during the fall midterm elections, followed through on his thinking or was merely spit-balling ideas shared privately with his colleagues in the aftermath of the deadly Capitol assault.

In the same conversation, McCarthy told his colleagues he doubted Trump would take the advice to step aside.

“That would be my recommendation,” McCarthy is heard saying in response to question from Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who would emerge as a staunch Trump critic. “I don’t think he will take it, but I don’t know.”

Earlier Thursday, after the Times published its initial story describing the conversation,
McCarthy released a statement calling it “totally false and wrong.” His spokesman, Mark Bednar, had told the paper, “McCarthy never said he’d call Trump to say he should resign.”

Bednar did not immediately respond to questions late Thursday night after the audio’s release. Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the tape.

Ukraine official: Zelenskyy meets top-level US delegation
Associated Press
DAVID KEYTON
April 24, 2022, 7:10 PM

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — The U.S. secretaries of state and defense met Sunday night with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the highest-level visit to the war-torn country’s capital by an American delegation since the start of Russia's invasion.

The meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was confirmed by presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych in an interview on Ukrainian TV.

It came as Ukraine pressed the West for more powerful weapons against Russia's campaign in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, where Moscow's forces sought to dislodge the last Ukrainian troops in the battered port of Mariupol.

“Yes, they’re meeting with the president. Let’s hope something will be decided on further help,” Arestovych said in an interview on Ukrainian TV.

Before the session, Zelenskyy said he was looking for the Americans to produce results, both in arms and security guarantees.

"You can’t come to us empty-handed today, and we are expecting not just presents or some kind of cakes, we are expecting specific things and specific weapons,'' he said.

Zelenskyy’s last face-to-face meeting with a top U.S. official was Feb. 19 in Munich with Vice President Kamala Harris, five days before Russia’s invasion. While the West has funneled military equipment to Ukraine, Zelenskyy has stressed repeatedly that his country needs more heavy weapons, including long-range air defense systems and warplanes.

In an apparent boost for Ukraine, polling agencies said French President Emmanuel Macron would win reelection over far right candidate Marine Le Pen. The result was hailed by France’s allies in the European Union as a reassuring sign of stability and continued support for Ukraine. France has played a leading role in international efforts to punish Russia with sanctions and is supplying weapons systems to Ukraine.

Zelenskyy's meeting with U.S. officials took place as Ukrainians and Russians observed Orthodox Easter, when the faithful celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Speaking from Kyiv's ancient St. Sophia Cathedral, Zelenskyy, who is Jewish, highlighted its significance to a nation wracked by nearly two months of war.

“The great holiday today gives us great hope and unwavering faith that light will overcome darkness, good will overcome evil, life will overcome death, and therefore Ukraine will surely win!” he said.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Still, the war cast a shadow over celebrations. In the northern village of Ivanivka, where Russian tanks still littered the roads, Olena Koptyl said "the Easter holiday doesn’t bring any joy. I’m crying a lot. We cannot forget how we lived.”

The Russian military reported hitting 423 Ukrainian targets overnight, including fortified positions and troop concentrations, while its warplanes destroyed 26 Ukrainian military sites, including an explosives factory and several artillery depots.

Since failing to capture Kyiv, the Russians have aimed to gain full control over the eastern industrial heartland, where Moscow-backed separatists controlled some territory before the war.

Two girls, aged 5 and 14, died in shelling in the town of Ocheretyne, part of the industrial region, Ukraine’s national police said.

Russian forces launched fresh airstrikes on a Mariupol steel plant where an estimated 1,000 civilians are sheltering along with about 2,000 Ukrainian fighters. The Azovstal steel mill where the defenders are holed up is the last corner of resistance in the city, otherwise occupied by the Russians.

Zelenskyy said he stressed the need to evacuate civilians from Mariupol, including from the steel plant, in a Sunday call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is scheduled to speak later with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Arestovych, the Zelenskyy adviser, said Ukraine has proposed talks with Russia next to the sprawling steel mill. Arestovych said on the Telegram messaging app that Russia has not responded to the proposal that would include establishing humanitarian corridors and the exchange of Russian war prisoners for the fighters still in the plant.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Guterres is scheduled to travel to Turkey on Monday and then Moscow and Kyiv. Zelenskyy it was a mistake for Guterres to visit Russia before Ukraine.

“Why? To hand over signals from Russia? What should we look for?” Zelenskyy said Saturday. “There are no corpses scattered on the Kutuzovsky Prospect,” he said, referring to one of Moscow’s main avenues.

Mariupol has endured fierce fighting since the start of the war due to its location on the Sea of Azov. Its capture would deprive Ukraine of a vital port, free up Russian troops to fight elsewhere, and allow Moscow to establish a land corridor to the Crimean Peninsula, which it seized from Ukraine in 2014.
More than 100,000 people — down from a prewar population of about 430,000 — are believed to remain in Mariupol with scant food, water or heat. Ukrainian authorities estimate over 20,000 civilians have been killed. Recent satellite images showed what appeared to be mass graves to the west and east of Mariupol.

Mykhailo Podolyak, another presidential adviser, tweeted that the Russian military was attacking the plant with heavy bombs and artillery while accumulating forces and equipment for a direct assault.

Zelenskyy on Saturday accused Russians of committing war crimes by killing civilians and of setting up “filtration camps” near Mariupol for people trying to leave the city. He said the Ukrainians — many of them children — are then sent to areas under Russian occupation or to Russia itself, often as far as Siberia or the Far East.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

The claims could not be independently verified. But they were repeated by Ukrainian lawmaker Yevheniya Kravchuk on ABC’s “This Week.”

“They have pulled these people from Mariupol — they are put to filtration camps ... it’s sort of something that can’t be happening in the 21st century,” Kravchuk said.

Zelenskyy also claimed that intercepted communications recorded Russian troops discussing “how they conceal the traces of their crimes” in Mariupol.

And he highlighted the death of a 3-month old girl in a Russian missile strike Saturday on the Black Sea port of Odesa. The baby was among eight people killed when Russia fired cruise missiles at Odesa, Ukrainian officials said.

Ukrainian news agency UNIAN, citing social media, reported that the infant's mother, Valeria Glodan, and grandmother also died when a missile hit a residential area. Zelenskyy promised to find and punish those responsible.

“The war started when this baby was 1 month old,'' Zelenskyy said. Can you imagine what is happening? They are filthy scum, there are no other words for it."

For the Donbas offensive, Russia has reassembled troops who fought around Kyiv and in northern Ukraine. The British Ministry of Defense said Ukrainian forces had repelled numerous assaults in the past week and "inflicted significant cost on Russian forces.”

The spiritual leaders of the world's Orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics appealed for relief for Ukraine's suffering population.

From Istanbul, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I said a “human tragedy” was unfolding. Bartholomew, considered the first among his Eastern Orthodox patriarch equals, cited in particular “the thousands of people surrounded in Mariupol, civilians, among them the wounded, the elderly, women and many children.”

Pope Francis, speaking from a window overlooking St. Peter's Square, renewed his call for an Easter truce, calling it “a minimal and tangible sign of a desire for peace.”

Read the entire transcript....

The entire McCarthy suggestion was a hypothetical regarding Congress moving forward with a resolution to remove Trump under the 25th amendment. He states that "if" it became obvious that it would pass both chambers that Trump should resign rather than be tossed out involuntarily.

That is it, Reverend. Just a guy suggesting that resignation would be better than being voted out due to a 25th Amendment.

Did he say he would recommend that Trump resign?

Yep- but only if it became obvious that he would otherwise be removed.

A key point that is just sort of ignored... because people like you are quick to believe a half truth!

So once again... your hatred and gullibility has gotten the better of you. McCarthy was actually just looking out for the best interest of Trump and suggesting that he didn't fight it if a resolution passed.

You've been duped...

Plain and simple.

Now go ahead and repeat the same debunk argument again so you can look even more gullible and stubbornly hateful.

I said if it came down to that, that yes... I would pull the plug.

NATO United States Antony Blinken
In Kyiv, Blinken and Austin announce aid, diplomatic surge
By MATTHEW LEE
NEAR THE POLISH-UKRAINIAN BORDER (AP) — The United States announced new military assistance for Ukraine and a renewed diplomatic push in the war-ravaged nation as President Joe Biden's secretary of state and Pentagon chief completed a secrecy-shrouded trip to Kyiv.

In the highest-level American visit to the capital since Russia invaded in late February, top envoy Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told Ukraine’s president, Volodomyr Zelenskyy, and his advisers that the U.S. would provide more than $300 million in foreign military financing and had approved a $165 million sale of ammunition.

C.H. Truth said...

Sorry Roger...

Read through the entire transcript.

McCarthy never said he would vote for anything resembling a 25th amendment resolution AND he voted against impeachment. He never suggest that HE BELIEVED that Trump should be removed under the 25th amendment.

He simply stated that if Trump was going to get tossed based on a 25th amendment situation that Trump should resign rather than accept that faith.

Again... like my wife and I had a conversation over what "would" happen if one of us took such a turn for the worse that we ended up in coma.

Did he ever make a call to Trump?

No suggestion that he did.

If he did call Trump, he was going to state that it was his recommendation that he should resign if it became clear that the amendment would pass. He suggested that Trump would not take that advice either way.

Not sure why this is a big deal with Democrats.

He is not part of your Party and whether or not he is or is not in the GOP leadership is an issue with the GOP. At this point, nobody in the caucus appears particularly upset with McCarthy and perhaps many people agrees that had things gone towards Trump actually being removed via congressional vote that he gets removed.

Not even Trump is upset with him... at least not over this.

But there is a HUGE difference between:

I think Trump should resign rather than be removed through the 25th Amendment and I would support the 25th amendment because I think he should be removed.

The first is what McCarthy said.
The second is what is being suggested.

Btw... we got inflation, we got crime, we got a border crisis, we have a supply chain crisis, we have war in Ukraine, and we have a President who literally doesn't know his own name at times...

you are worried about "semantics" of a conversation that has nothing to do with anything important today.

SOUTHEAST POLAND—The U.S. will return an embassy presence to Ukraine and increase military support for the country, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting in Kyiv, as Russia’s war shifts gears in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Sunday’s visit was the highest-level U.S. delegation to go to Ukraine since the start of the war on Feb. 24 and follows similar trips from other countries’ leaders and diplomats, as Washington and its allies increase efforts to show support for Kyiv and help the country defend itself.

After pulling out earlier this year, U.S. diplomats will return to Ukraine this week, initially with day trips to the western city of Lviv with the goal of returning to a functioning embassy in Kyiv in the near future, a senior State Department official said. On Monday, President Biden is expected to nominate Bridget Brink, the current U.S. ambassador to Slovakia, as the next ambassador to Ukraine, the official said.

Meanwhile, the U.S. will provide Ukraine with $322 million in foreign military assistance to allow Kyiv to buy needed weapons, part of a total package of $713 million in U.S. military assistance for more than a dozen countries in the region, U.S. officials said ahead of a briefing in Poland with Messrs. Blinken and Austin. The new funding comes after two previous military-aid packages of $800 million each for Ukraine that included heavy artillery, armored personnel carriers and helicopters

Paint the Ukrainian war as a win for Biden all you want!

I am sure the fifth beatle will be all over that! Might even get him a little horny so the two of you can have some alone time! There might even be another one or two from your lockdown mental ward who buy it!

But most everyone else seems to think that Russia invading Ukraine is a bad thing and that our own behavior (or lack of behavior) led to the Putin attack. Even if Ukraine ends up claiming victory, they will have lost. Villages, towns, and even cities have been destroyed. Family homes. Everything people own.. all gone.

Tens of millions of Ukrainians are displaced, many to other countries. Thousands are currently in Russia (being held). Thousands dead... more wounded. Hundreds of billions will likely be needed to reconstruct areas (assuming they can ever get them back).

Yeah, Roger... all of that death and destruction. All of that loss and despair. All of those people suffering...

and our President cannot remember his own name.

I have never trusted McCarthy, to me he appears to be another McCain, Graham, Ryan or Romney. Goes in front of the camera and says one thing and acts different in crunch time or behind closed doors.

His conversation with Cheney is another perfect example. He supported her way too long and is way too chummy on this call.

I'd love to see him replaced, almost as much as cocaine mitch. And not by someone in his inner circle with the possible exception of Steve Scalise
