One investigation allegedly began after the FBI received a tip that a mom had told a local school board, “We are coming for you.” The complaint “alleged that the mom was a threat because she belonged to a ‘right wing mom’s group’ known as ‘Moms for Liberty,’ and because she is a ‘gun owner,'” the congressmen wrote. An FBI agent reportedly interviewed the the mom, who said she was upset about a school mask mandate and wanted to elect new board members.
In another instance, the congressmen wrote that an FBI agent interviewed a tipster who admitted he had “no specific information or observations . . . of any crimes or threats.” The tipster had submitted a complaint against an anti-mask-mandate dad, claiming that the dad “fit the profile of an insurrectionist,” and the FBI had opened an investigation into the dad.
To be clear, Moms for Liberty is an actually 501C non-profit organization. Perfectly legal, perfectly legitimate, and no different than any other 501 organization in the country. Having our Biden Justice Department order investigations because of an involvement in a 501 that represents different political views than that Justice Department is simply a partisan use of law enforcement to attack other points of view and intimidate them. Investigating someone because they engage in their constitutionally legal second amendment rights is simply unconstitutional on all grounds.
This alone should have Merrick Garland impeached. This is a blatant act of abuse of power. Using the Justice department to attack political enemies that have posed no actual real threat to anyone (other than the political threat of getting school board members replaced) is not just unethical, but it's illegal. Of course, it is doubtful that the Attorney General will recommend charges against himself.

President Biden on Friday spoke with the leaders of Finland and Sweden and said he would support a decision by each country to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the White House said.
“President Biden underscored his support for NATO’s Open Door policy and for the right of Finland and Sweden to decide their own future, foreign policy, and security arrangements,” the White House said in a readout of the secure call between Biden, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö.
“The leaders also discussed the close partnership among our countries across a range of global issues, based on our common values and interests,” the readout of the 40-minute call said. “They reiterated their shared commitment to continued coordination in support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people affected by the war.”
The call comes as both countries weighing membership in NATO amid Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Niinistö in a joint statement with the country’s prime minister this week called for the county to apply for membership “without delay.” Sweden is also expected to follow suit in the coming days.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet Saturday with the foreign ministers of Sweden, Finland, and NATO members in Berlin, where the officials are likely to lay the groundwork for the countries joining the alliance.
The White House has previously voiced support for both countries joining the alliance.
“The United States would support a NATO application by Finland and/or Sweden should they choose to apply,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Thursday. “We, of course, will respect whatever decision they make. Both Finland and Sweden are close and valued defense partners of the United States and of NATO.”
The developments have angered Russia, with Moscow vowing to take “retaliatory steps” should Finland go through with plans to join NATO.

Where did the idea that “choice” is a bad word and “decision” is a good word come from? One Democratic congressional staffer on Twitter flagged this post on the website of Planned Parenthood’s official advocacy group in Massachusetts (emphasis added):
“Pro-choice” is probably the word you’ve heard most often to describe abortion supporters. Many people strongly identify as “pro-choice” , and “pro-choice” has come to encompass a wide range of beliefs about why someone should be able to choose to have an abortion. But “choice” frames the whole conversation about abortion inadequately and doesn’t describe true reproductive freedom. We need to go beyond choice language to affirm our support for abortion.
The language of “choice” centers one person’s decision to get an abortion or not; a choice is something one person makes. Focusing on someone’s “choice” erases the structural, societal factors that determine how and if someone can get health care, and the quality of that care. These factors are not incidental or insignificant: they leave many people with no choices at all..
“Choice” assumes that everyone can get an abortion, and someone just has to choose whether or not they want one. Not everyone can get an abortion when they want one. Black feminists and feminists of color have pointed out that this isn’t the case: the legal right to choose to have an abortion does not always mean someone can actually get an abortion. “Choice” ignores the lived realities of people, especially Black people and people of color, who face barriers that are often compounded by racist and classist policies that keep them from the care they need.
[…]
So what can someone say instead of just “pro-choice”? You can absolutely say:
pro-abortion, pro-abortion rights, pro-abortion access, or pro-abortion equity — abortion isn’t a dirty word.
For years, Planned Parenthood activists argued strenuously that no one is pro-abortion, but this change in rhetoric is the logical result of the #ShoutYourAbortion activism on the left. Here’s a flashback to the 2016 Democratic National Convention:
When talking about abortion, Democratic politicians and activists usually prefer to speak euphemistically: The dismemberment or lethal poisoning of a baby who hasn’t been born yet is almost always referred to as “reproductive health care” or “a woman’s choice.” The group NARAL, once known as the National Abortion Rights Action League, went so far as to change its name to NARAL Pro-Choice America so its supporters and allies could avoid saying the a-word.
But there’s been a growing push on the left to not only defend abortion as a necessary evil that should be “safe, legal, and rare” but to celebrate it as a positive good. (See the #ShoutYourAbortion Twitter campaign of 2015.) And so on Wednesday evening, Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, took the stage at the Democratic National Convention and told the story of the time she aborted her first child because it was an inconvenient time to become a parent.
“To succeed in life, all we need are the tools, the trust, and the chance to chart our own path,” Hogue said during her DNC speech. “I was fortunate enough to have these things when I found out I was pregnant years ago. I wanted a family, but it was the wrong time. I made the decision that was best for me—to have an abortion and get compassionate care at a clinic in my own community.” At this point, applause and cheers could be heard in the crowd.

It’s not clear where historians will ultimately draw the line, but one could make a good case that the looming Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision marks the end of a Democratic century. The moral arc of the universe may have seemed like it was bending toward a liberal vision of the social world, but in fact much of that vision — including the New Deal and the Warren Court — was something of an historical anomaly, created by chance.
The judicial branch is a lagging indicator of party power, with lifetime-appointed jurists remaining powerful long after the president who nominated them has left office. Much of what’s happened within the judiciary over the past century has been an echo of a period of electoral dominance by the Democrats.
The bottom line is the last 100 years will disappear.

Samuel Alito, the Supreme Court justice who authored the leaked draft majority opinion showing the court is preparing to strike down landmark Roe v. Wade abortion rights, addressed the leak for the first time Thursday.
“This is a subject I told myself I wasn’t going to talk about today regarding, you know — given all the circumstances,” Alito said at an event at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, in response to a question about how the justices were getting along, according to The Washington Post.

Revealed: election conspiracy theorists work as election officials across Georgia
Officials with extensive power over election administration in at least seven counties of crucial swing state found to have promoted falsehood that 2020 election was stolen by Biden

Fri 13 May 2022 07.32 EDT
The effort to install local election officials who promote Donald Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen has seen particular success in the crucial swing state of Georgia, where at least eight county election officials are promoters of the falsehood, a Guardian investigation has found.
Sure Rog...
We should believe an average Rapid city High School grad with no college over the constitutional law experts at National Review (which btw, was not where I even got the story - it was a different legal blog).
And if I do not believe the old man in a nursing home...
I have lost my mind?
Does that about sum it up for you Roger?
Officials with extensive power over election administration in at least seven counties of crucial swing state found to have promoted falsehood that 2020 election was stolen by Biden
Why is it a falsehood, Roger?
Georgia has an open criminal investigation on a pay by ballot - ballot harvesting scheme. They even have a confession and someone who has turned on the rest.
Are you saying that there is no criminal investigation in spite of Georgia officials declaring there is? Is stating the truth now illegal and should have you arrested by Merrick Garland?
Or what exactly is your damned argument?
Bidenomics has tanked.
UMich consumer sentiment index (preliminary) May 59.1 down 6.2 points.
Biden learned to Weaponize Federal Agencies from Obimbo.
The investigation looked at seven counties out of 159, meaning the number of election officials who support election conspiracy theories could be much higher.
“These disturbing facts bring to light what we’ve known for a while: support for the big lie is growing – the result of powerful political actors stoking a dangerous fire,” the voting rights group New Georgia Project said in a statement.
“There is absolutely no place on our boards of elections, or in any of our elected offices, for leaders who refuse to accept the results of fair and certified elections.”
Election boards have access to voter rolls, and make rules about polling places, ballots and voter registration. They also make determinations on ballots in which the voters’ intention is unclear.
The boards seat between four and five members, usually split evenly between the two main parties with a tie-breaking, “non-partisan” member often chosen by the county commission or a local judge.
With 159 counties, Georgia therefore has hundreds of county election board officials, creating and changing election policy on a weekly basis with little other than local activists and press to track them.

Among them is Dottie Krull, a 79-year-old Republican on the Lumpkin county election board, located a little over an hour north of Atlanta. Shortly after the 2020 election, Krull began posting about the big lie on her personal Facebook page.
Roger...
Are you DENYING (like a f-n moron) that there IS A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION going on regarding a pay for ballot harvesting scheme?
It's a simple f-n question Roger?
Answer it... or I delete the rest of the comments.

The Attorney General has opened an investigation as well... not just a state election board. They already have someone who has ADMITTED that he broke the law and was paid to harvest ballots.

Two Pennsylvania GOP staffers fired over alleged illegal 'ballot harvesting' operation: report
Jon Skolnik, Salon
May 13, 2022
A pair of Pennsylvania GOP staffers were fired after allegedly orchestrating a potential "ballot harvesting" scheme, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
C.J. Parker, 24, and Shamus O'Donnell, 27, and were both sacked after allegedly sending dozens of ballots to a P.O. box associated with a Republican political action committee known as the Republican Registration Coalition. The PAC's chairman, Billy Lanzilotti, told the Inquirer that he had intended to hand deliver the ballots to voters himself.
"I didn't do anything that to my understanding was against the law," Lanzilotti told the outlet, arguing that he was trying to help voters. "There's been a number of problems with the post office lately," he added. "Checks are being stolen out of the mail. They like it this way because I'm someone they trust."

Ballot harvesting, which involves having a third-party collect or distribute ballots on behalf of voters, is strictly banned in Pennsylvania except to assist voters with disabilities. State law mandates that voters fill out and deliver their ballots themselves unless they've provided authorization for someone else to perform both tasks for them.
HenryBriggsColumn:
A Historical View On Abortion
The pros and cons of abortion are not easy.
Both sides have strong, convincing arguments.
As well as some horse pucky.
The whole notion or Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice is a PR game.
“Pro-Life” is a euphemism for Anti-Abortion.
“Pro-Choice” is a euphemism for Pro-Abortion.
It’s like the Southern States saying the Civil War was fought over state’s rights, when it was really about slavery – as in the Southern States’ right to have slaves.
The Anti-Abortion side says they’re saving the lives of babies.
The Pro-Abortion side says they are saving the quality of lives of both babies and mothers.
The Anti-Abortion side bases their argument on religion, citing numerous references in the Bible about the sanctity of life.
The Pro-Abortion side notes that abortion is never cited or even mentioned in the Bible.
Interestingly, abortion wasn’t an issue until around the time of the Civil War.
It had been practiced forever, in this country by the Pilgrims and the indigenous people, and by peoples all over the rest of the world
(“As long as women have been pregnant, there have been abortions”).
Also interestingly, abortions were performed by mid-wives, the same people who helped bring babies into the world.
~~~The practice was limited by the “quickening”, the moment around four to six months into a pregnancy when a woman could first feel the baby moving.
~~~Men had little interest and less to say about it.
Perhaps that why it wasn’t mentioned in the Constitution, either.
With advances in science, the notion of “quickening” has been replaced by more precise measurements.
So now the two sides are debating about when a life actually begins.
The Anti-Abortionists believe life begins the moment the sperm says “Hi there egg!”
Abortionists put it much later.
Now, hold that thought.
Let’s go back to the early years of the country and the 55 delegates at The Constitutional Convention.
They decided that Congress “shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
Jefferson described it as a wall separating church and state.
As a nation, we have subscribed to that metaphor ever since.
It follows that, if Church and State must be separate,
then although a religious belief may influence an American’s lifestyle,
not to mention the vote,
it cannot be forced onto others who have different beliefs.
We cannot be forced,
for example,
to follow Christian beliefs
– or Buddhist beliefs,
or Hindu beliefs
or Agnostic beliefs
or Atheist beliefs –
although we can
voluntarily
follow them.
In other words,
the Constitution was written to avoid the very quandary we’re in now –
debating whether any church can dictate to those outside of that religion.
Also interestingly,
escaping religious dictates was a primary reason the first settlers came to this country.
___
OK, back to the debate.
In the 158 years since the Civil War,
Christian religious groups
– the church-
have slowly and inexorably taken the abortion debate to the state.
In the last 50 years Jefferson’s wall has been breached – really obliterated – by Evangelicals and Catholics who have used the pulpit and lobbyists to make the state declare abortion illegal.
Why?
Because their religion tells them that abortion is wrong.
Thus the torturous reasoning in a draft opinion,
from one of six out of nine Catholic Justices on The Supreme Court,
decimating a woman’s right to abortion in this country.
In my opinion,
if you could go back and ask them, the founding fathers would have been saddened, if not shocked, by any church’s attempt to impose its beliefs on the state.
They would have welcomed an open debate, for sure, but a debate to be decided by each person individually,
just as they decide which religion, if any, to follow.
In other words, it’s not just a matter of choice for women.
It’s a matter of choice for each of us – everyone – who lives by the Constitution.
Or was.
_______
(If you like this, pass it on.
If you don't, pass it on anyway. ~~~Why should you suffer alone?)
Unless we the people decide to preserve and defend the Constitution in the next two and a half years from now, we will have a crypo fascist system.
Because the Republican Party I remember and occasionally voted for Republicans no longer exists except for Pence and Liz Cheney etc.
Everything since TDR will no longer exist
There was actually a guy in Minnesota that was just "convicted" of the same ballot harvesting allegations... had only done about a dozen.
This the one you were talking about Lil Schitty?????? Seems once again your facts seem fucked up.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minneapolis man was found guilty Tuesday of lying to a federal grand jury about abusing a process for submitting absentee ballots for other voters during Minnesota’s primary election in August 2020.
After a day of testimony, the jury of 10 women and two men took just 40 minutes to convict Muse Mohamud Mohamed of two counts of making false statements to a grand jury, according to Minnesota Public Radio.
Mohamed, 30, was accused of falsely telling the grand jury last fall that he had obtained three absentee ballots for the primary on behalf of three voters who then filled them out before he returned them to the election office.
Federal prosecutors said Mohamed didn’t take any of the three ballots to the absentee voters named on the envelopes, and that none of the voters gave him ballots to return. The defense disputes the charges.

One last quote today
This President started the 20th century, that that you will destroy from voting rights to raciall discrimination
PRESIDENTSTheodore Roosevelt
THE 26TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
With the assassination of President William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, not quite 43, became the 26th and youngest President in the Nation’s history (1901-1909). He brought new excitement and power to the office, vigorously leading Congress and the American public toward progressive reforms and a strong foreign policy.
With the assassination of President McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, not quite 43, became the youngest President in the Nation’s history. He brought new excitement and power to the Presidency, as he vigorously led Congress and the American public toward progressive reforms and a strong foreign policy.
He took the view that the President as a “steward of the people” should take whatever action necessary for the public good unless expressly forbidden by law or the Constitution.” I did not usurp power,” he wrote, “but I did greatly broaden the use of executive power.”
Roosevelt’s youth differed sharply from that of the log cabin Presidents. He was born in New York City in 1858 into a wealthy family, but he too struggled–against ill health–and in his triumph became an advocate of the strenuous life.
In 1884 his first wife, Alice Lee Roosevelt, and his mother died on the same day. Roosevelt spent much of the next two years on his ranch in the Badlands of Dakota Territory. There he mastered his sorrow as he lived in the saddle, driving cattle, hunting big game–he even captured an outlaw. On a visit to London, he married Edith Carow in December 1886.
During the Spanish-American War, Roosevelt was lieutenant colonel of the Rough Rider Regiment, which he led on a charge at the battle of San Juan. He was one of the most conspicuous heroes of the war.
Boss Tom Platt, needing a hero to draw attention away from scandals in New York State, accepted Roosevelt as the Republican candidate for Governor in 1898. Roosevelt won and served with distinction.
As President, Roosevelt held the ideal that the Government should be the great arbiter of the conflicting economic forces in the Nation, especially between capital and labor, guaranteeing justice to each and dispensing favors to none.
Roosevelt emerged spectacularly as a “trust buster” by forcing the dissolution of a great railroad combination in the Northwest. Other antitrust suits under the Sherman Act followed.
Roosevelt steered the United States more actively into world politics. He liked to quote a favorite proverb, “Speak softly and carry a big stick. . . . ”
Aware of the strategic need for a shortcut between the Atlantic and Pacific, Roosevelt ensured the construction of the Panama Canal. His corollary to the Monroe Doctrine prevented the establishment of foreign bases in the Caribbean and arrogated the sole right of intervention in Latin America to the United States.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the Russo-Japanese War, reached a Gentleman’s Agreement on immigration with Japan, and sent the Great White Fleet on a goodwill tour of the world.
Some of Theodore Roosevelt’s most effective achievements were in conservation. He added enormously to the national forests in the West, reserved lands for public use, and fostered great irrigation projects.
Everything since will be gone
Roger...
What is amusing here...
Is that you have a Democratic Administration, a Democratic Senate, a Democratic House
you have social media censoring conservative political speech
you had a congressperson suggest that Biden should not be criticized because he is a "war time President
you have the AG accusing parents of being terrorists
you have the President's own son protected by the media and Federal law enforcement
you had a two year long fake FBI and Special Counsel investigation into a Republican Candidate/President that was prompted by fake information provided by his opponent
you have people held without bail because they questioned the election results
you have a new "Ministry of truth" where a person with strong (false) opinions will be in charge of saying what should and should not be allowed to be even said (who went so far as to suggest that the Government should be allowed to edit private citizen's tweets and on-line opinions)...
And somehow you believe that facism is a Republican thing?

There is no such empirical evidence, by a long shot. That geolocation data from Phillips and Engelbrecht’s group, True the Vote, which also has executive-producer credits on the film, is used as a purportedly data-driven latticework on which everything else hangs. But beyond lots of harrumphing about how revealing this data is, we see very little of it.
The theory that Phillips and Engelbrecht present is that nonprofit organizations employed people to collect ballots and then drop them into drop boxes in various cities. They call this “ballot trafficking,” a term meant to connote illegality akin to the transport of narcotics. The people carrying the ballots, then, become “mules” and the nonprofit groups “stash houses.” To test this theory, they obtained a large amount of anonymized cellphone geolocation data and tried to figure out how often individual phones appeared near drop box sites or near those nonprofit groups.
By itself, this is a dubious approach. As the Associated Press pointed out in a fact check of the film, there’s no way by just using cellphone data to know whether someone visited a ballot drop box, particularly since those boxes were installed in high-traffic areas. Last month, I spoke with an expert on geolocation who made clear that the imprecision of phone geolocation would make specifying that a phone was actually near a drop box (and not, say, 10 feet from it) nearly impossible. The film makes repeated comparisons to federal law enforcement’s ability to identify people who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6, but even if the phone’s location is off by 20 feet, it’s still obvious when you’re inside a large building. (In one shot, the film shows geolocated data inside the Capitol — with positions surrounded by large circles of uncertainty that make this point clearly.)
You really believe it

So the 2.3 trillion dollar Covid Stimulus, followed by the 484 billion dollar stimulus, followed by the 130 billion supplementary all passed by Congress for Covid...
had nothing to do with that, huh?
Because that was 2.9 Trillion in Covid spending.
Are you blaming that on Trump?
Former President Trump is leaning strongly towards endorsing the highly controversial Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano for governor, according to three sources familiar with his private deliberations.
Why it matters: Mastriano — who was at the Capitol on Jan. 6 — has gone beyond trying to help Trump overturn the 2020 election; he's proposed defying Pennsylvania's popular vote outcome and spoke at an event last month promoting QAnon conspiracies.
What we're watching: Democrats are salivating because they see him as beatable in a general election even in a political environment that's extremely favorable to Republicans. Leading Democratic candidate Josh Shapiro even ran an ad highlighting Mastriano in the primary contest.
With time running out before Tuesday's primaries, Republicans are panicking about the prospect of such a polarizing candidate with limited appeal leading the ticket, and are mounting a last-ditch effort to stop him, as Politico first reported.Others in the Republican gubernatorial contest include former Rep. Lou Barletta, former U.S. Attorney Bill McSwain, and businessman Dave White.
Flashback: In 2016, then-candidate Trump won Pennsylvania by after his more traditional Republican opponents split the remainder of the GOP vote.
Between the lines: Trump is worried about his endorsed Senate candidate Dr. Oz losing, according to two sources familiar with the situation, so his endorsement of Mastriano could be a way of hedging his bets on Tuesday.
Republicans are also belatedly panicking over the previously unimaginable prospect that Kathy Barnette could win their party's nomination for the open Senate seat in Pennsylvania, as Axios reported.
We will see in the next few months if he still has control.
Yeah goat fucker....that's a lot better considering its total 5.2 billion cost!!!! bwaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
The new Air Force One will cost the Pentagon $5.2 billion, according to the Defense Department's first formal acquisition report for the aircraft.
In 2016, it was estimated that the new aircraft would cost $3.2 billion. A year later, President Donald Trump said he negotiated the planes' cost down by $1 billion.
Sure looks like unconfined mission cost growth to me, go figure!!!
had nothing to do with that, huh?

“And the efforts to undermine Trump’s chosen candidates have been even more extensive behind the scenes. .”
Republicans in Nebraska and the Dakota tend to be normal Republicans. And Montana when I met a few people.

Arizona election security chief quits — and issues urgent warning about MAGA radicals trying to take over
Matthew Chapman
May 13, 2022
On Friday, VICE released an interview with Ken Matta, Arizona's longtime head of election security, who is now leaving office for the private sector — and warning that the efforts by pro-Trump conspiracy theorists to hijack and intimidate election offices is becoming a dire problem for both the election process and for the well-being of the officials running it.
According to Matta, he feared for his own safety through all of this — and even felt the need to walk around armed.

Kathy Barnette will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats.
She has many things in her past which have not been properly explained or vetted, but if she is able to do so, she will have a wonderful future in the Republican Party—and I will be behind her all the way.
I disagree with him but can understand what he is saying.
And if she wins the nomination I do think Trump will be with her all the way as she proves him wrong.
Funny...
But the description of that 2000 mules movie makes it sound like ballot harvesting is perfectly legal and that these people are just making it "sound" nefarious by using bad words to describe it.
In Georgia only immediate family or caregiver is allowed to bring a ballot in for someone else. Every time someone else does it... it's a crime. If that person does it repeatedly, they are looking at jail.
The person who has confessed (in Georgia) admitted to harvesting at least a 1000 ballots and working with at least 200 other people. Every last one of those is illegal. They say that he is not the only one talking either.
The movie has video feeds of the same people dropping the multiple ballots in multiple boxes. Video feeds.
So there is video evidence.
There is/are confession(s).
Funny how the "skeptics" both lie in terms of making the reader believe that taking ballots to a ballot box is "legal" and that the investigation and movie are relying entirely on cell phone traffic.
So fact checking those fact checkers makes it clear that they are strawmanning this whole deal and changing/reducing the argument into only what they feel they can address (while ignoring the other portions).
Typical...
Then they can demand that they have "debunked" it.

White House Press Corps Beginning To Suspect Psaki Isn't Ever Going To Circle Back To Their Questions
WASHINGTON, DC—As White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki departs today for a job at MSNBC, several members of the White House Press Corps expressed concern that she may not be intending to circle back to their questions after all.
According to the Pew Research Center’s Journalism Project, Psaki has promised to “circle back” to journalists’ questions exactly 8,436 times over the last 17 months. Now it appears almost all of those questions will remain mysteriously unanswered.

This is a ridiculous faux outrage. The shortage of baby formula is a serious issue that the administration is seeking to address. But at the same time, the administration cannot be faulted for following the law and providing baby formula to undocumented immigrants. Anyone who suggests this is the result of specific Biden policies, i.e., his “reckless, out-of-touch priorities,” earns Four Pinocchios.

Said Cruz:
“Just once, I’d love to see a Republican candidate stand up in a primary and say,

Ron DeSantis Picks New Secretary of State

The Guardian reports.
KLEPTOCRACY IS COMING
TO THE PHILIPPINES.
Scot is turning into a KLEPTO.
Later that day at 3:00 P.M., Milley and I joined an update call with the national security team, with Vice President Pence presiding over the session. Though it happened only rarely, the vice president brought a much different tone to the meetings he chaired. They were usually straightforward, focused, and predictable. Pence listened well and asked good questions, and he was always quick with a “thanks” or “great job.” He was part cheerleader and part sounding board, though I could never tell how much influence he really had with Trump. He often didn’t say much in meetings that the president attended, and he rarely disagreed with Trump in front of us.
The president grew irritated again, still smoldering over the “offset strikes.” He was frustrated that the XXXXX had not taken care of Soleimani earlier, as they had been pressing to do for months, well before I arrived on the scene in June. He complained that XXXXX was talking tough but really wanted the United States to conduct the strike, which was a shrewd assessment. The DoD had long expressed reservations about such an action, concerned about consequences ranging from increased attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq, to Baghdad evicting us from the country, and all the way up to war with Iran. The risks seemed high. O’Brien weighed in over the phone, picking up on Trump’s inclination and doubling down, arguing that all the targets should be hit, and that we should “hit them hard” now. Milley and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes. We quickly jumped back into the discussion and urged restraint. “We need to let the next few days play out,” I said. “After all, we just took out five sites, killed at least nineteen militia
This was one of the mysteries of Donald Trump as commander in chief. Sometimes he would express concern about being drawn into a conflict, and he was always talking about getting out of the “endless wars.” In the same vein, he would call off strikes we had already agreed to. At other times, like now, he would complain we were not being tough enough and want the most aggressive options possible. His views on the use of force swung back and forth like a pendulum,
He not qualified to be the Commander In Chief
To my surprise, this really angered Trump. He wasn’t yelling, but he was both frustrated and mad. He sat there, hunched over, shaking his head, with a grimace on his face, looking up at Milley and saying, “That was stupid” and “Why would you do that,” adding that “it makes us look like we can’t hit the target.” This, of course, wasn’t the case, and we were confident the Iranians knew that. The U.S. military had long proven it could hit targets with ruthless precision.

Georgia rally shows Pence cutting his own path,
Regardless of Trump
Yahoo News
TOM LOBIANCO
May 13, 2022, 3:42 PM
In his latest split from former President Donald Trump, Mike Pence will headline a rally for Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican who has remained at odds with Trump since the 2020 presidential election.
Pence’s rally with Kemp on May 23 may be his sharpest rebuke yet of Trump.
The former vice president has decided to throw his weight behind a bid to win a second term for one of the Republicans whom Trump has blamed in his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. In addition, Pence’s longtime consigliere, Marc Short, has signed on as an adviser to Kemp.
“The Vice President's leadership was instrumental in creating the most prosperous economy in American history, including here in Georgia, and his commitment to building a safer, stronger America represents the highest ideals of our party,”
tweeted Kemp, who appears likely to fend off a Trump-backed challenger in a little more than two weeks.
Pence made his second trip to the state in less than a week to headline an event for the crisis pregnancy center in early-voting South Carolina as he continues to mull a possible 2024 presidential bid.
“Brian Kemp is one of the most successful conservative governors in America,” Pence said in a statement. “He built a safer and stronger Georgia by cutting taxes, empowering parents and investing in teachers, funding law enforcement, and standing strong for the right to life.”
Neither man mentioned Trump nor his baseless claims that he won the election, which have opened the sharpest divide inside the GOP since Trump left office.
The former president has wrestled with Kemp for more than a year now, with little success. In December 2020, Trump called Kemp and pressured him to throw out the election results in Georgia. A year after Kemp refused this request, Trump endorsed former Georgia Sen. David Perdue in his attempt to oust Kemp in the May 24 primary.
Trump headlined a rally for Perdue at the end of March. And in a surprising move, the typically tightfisted Trump released $500,000 from his extensive political war chest for Perdue. But his efforts to unseat Kemp have stumbled, with Perdue falling well short of Kemp in most polling.
GOOD! GOOD! GOOD!
On Wednesday, Trump slammed Kemp, calling him a “RINO” — a “Republican in name only” — in a statement that also took aim at Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, all of whom are backing Kemp.
Political observers seeking signs of where Republican voters stand ahead of the 2024 primaries have drawn mixed results from recent contests. Almost two weeks ago, the primary victory of Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance, who had been endorsed by Trump, was deemed a clear sign of the former president’s continued control of the party.
This week brought further indications that Trump’s grip on the party is not as firm as he and his aides have claimed. His pick for Nebraska governor, a GOP donor who helped Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, lost a tight race to a Republican backed by the GOP establishment and the powerful Ricketts family.
The next test, on Tuesday in the Pennsylvania Senate primary, could bring another loss for Trump, if the extreme-right commentator Kathy Barnette succeeds in holding back the daytime TV celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz, whom Trump endorsed a month ago.
Ever since a mob of pro-Trump rioters ransacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and scoured the halls searching for the vice president chanting “Hang Mike Pence!,” many Republicans have written off Pence as unlikely to win the nomination of a party whose most fervent voters have threatened to kill him.
But Pence has charted a steady, if somewhat subdued, path campaigning in support of Republicans in early voting states like Iowa and South Carolina, only occasionally speaking out against his former boss. Indications from Republican primary voters that they won’t march in lockstep with Trump’s endorsed candidates have Republican operatives predicting that the former vice president has a possible path (if a narrow one) to the nomination in 2024.
“Mike Pence has always been about doing the right thing, no matter the difficulties that may present,” said Mike Murphy, a longtime Indiana Republican and friend of Pence’s. “The Georgia race is not burning bridges for Pence, it is building bridges for the future prosperity of America."

There Will Be Blood
By Blaine L. Pardoe
Progressive activists have long fallen on the tactic of resorting to violence, destruction, and even bloodshed to get their points across. With the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on abortion, I feel assured they will once more pull this oft-used tool from their belt, and once again resort to carnage and mayhem. Already, they vandalized several Catholic churches last weekend, and firebombed a Right to Life group’s headquarters. A bullet was fired into the office of the Virginia Attorney General this week as well. Violence is already here. These were all pre-game activities as they warm up for what is to come.
In reality however, members of the far Left have consistently resorted to violence and sanctioned attacks against civilians. Many of the Vietnam protests turned into riots. Domestic terrorists belonging to the Weather Underground bombed school buildings, the U.S. Capitol, and the Pentagon. The SLA robbed banks, set off bombs and murdered innocent people.
In recent years, staff of the Trump Administration, such as Sarah Huckabee Sanders, faced confrontational harassment and were asked to leave businesses – actions fully supported by politicians such as Maxine Waters. Mad Maxine encouraged her followers to publicly accost Trump officials. Ten years earlier, such a statement by a politician would earn a well-deserved censure in the House. Now, it is accepted and even supported with nary an uproar. Let’s not forget that in June of 2017, a Bernie Sanders supporter shot and wounded Representative Steve Scalise during a baseball game. Encouraging acts of aggression gets you one thing – more aggression.
The characterization of the riots of 2020 as “mostly peaceful protests” by the mainstream media and Democrat leadership simply reinforces their willingness to cross the line into outright violence to make their point. The media love the violence because violence equals ratings and clicks on the web. They will highlight the carnage that is to come and make sure we all see it on the nightly news. They will paint the domestic terrorists as patriots. They, like the Democrat leadership, see the violence as the justified ‘means to an end’ of their social agenda.
Fear-mongering to whip their constituents into a frenzy has already begun. Warnings that same-sex marriages could be on the chopping block, and interracial marriage rights will face removal are the calling cards left by the ‘progressive’ Left. The View went so far as to warn that “….fascism is coming!” While we all joke that The View is far from a credible source,
American Thinker is nuts

I was very concerned about the president and where he was headed. Trump seemed unable to think straight and calmly. The protests and violence had him so enraged that he was willing to send in active-duty forces to put down the protesters. Worse yet, he suggested we shoot them. I wondered about his sense of history, of propriety, and of his oath to the Constitution. And then there was his constant concern about appearing weak. How far might that exaggerated sense of insecurity, of that singular need to push back hard and win, take us? Depending on how the protests went that night, we would likely find out the next day. General Milley was clearly thinking about many of these things too, and the way ahead as well. We held nearly identical views on these issues. The calm of the evening along the quiet path gave us our first real chance to talk. The realization that the White House played us in Lafayette Park for political gain was soaking in, and with it came regret. We were disappointed in ourselves, but we learned an important lesson the hard way. We weren’t going to let that happen again.
War in Ukraine will be over by end of year, head of military intelligence predicts
The war against Russia will reach a turning point by mid-August and be over by the end of the year, Ukraine’s head of military intelligence has told Sky News.
Major general Kyrylo Budanov said:
The breaking point will be in the second part of August.
Most of the active combat actions will have finished by the end of this year.
As a result, we will renew Ukrainian power in all our territories that we have lost including Donbas and the Crimea.
He said Russia was suffering huge losses – although he would not be drawn on Ukrainian casualties – and said he was not surprised by their scale, given Russian power was a “myth”.
Europe sees Russia as a big threat. They are afraid of its aggression.
We have been fighting Russia for eight years and we can say that this highly publicised Russian power is a myth.
It is not as powerful as this. It is a horde of people with weapons.
Budanov said Russian forces attacking the north-eastern city of Kharkiv had been pushed back almost to the Russian border and that their much-reported failure to cross the Siverskyi Donets river several days ago had resulted in “heavy losses”.
I can confirm that they suffered heavy losses in manpower and armour and I can say that when the artillery strikes happened many of the crews abandoned their equipment.
He also claimed that Russian defeat in Ukraine would lead to the removal of Russian president Vladimir Putin and that a coup was already under way against him. “They are moving in this way and it is impossible to stop it,” he said. He provided no evidence to support the claim.
Furthermore, Putin was in a “very bad psychological and physical condition and he is very sick”. Rumours of Putin’s ill health have circulated recently but the Guardian has been unable to substantiate them.
A Russian oligarch with close ties to the Kremlin confessed to a Western colleague that Vladimir Putin is ‘very ill with blood cancer’, it has been claimed.
The billionaire, whose name has been withheld for his safety, was allegedly secretly taped in mid-March expressing his contempt for the ‘crazy’ Russian president’s invasion of Ukraine.
In the recording, obtained by New Lines Magazine, he said: ‘[Putin] absolutely ruined Russia’s economy, Ukraine’s economy and many other economies — ruined [them] absolutely.
‘The problem is with his head. … One crazy guy can turn the world upside down.’
The oligarch was said to be among Russia’s 200 richest people and currently residing outside of the country.
He was part of a ‘close circle of 20 or 30 people’ whom Putin met with in the build-up to his illegal annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula in 2014, a former European security chief told the magazine.
The businessman reportedly spent much of the 11-minute taped conversation asking his colleague, a high-flying investor, how he could protect his investments in Europe from Western sanctions.
But he went on to blast Putin for the false pretense of trying to rid Ukraine of ‘Nazis and fascists’, adding that ‘we all hope’ he dies from his cancer or an internal coup.
The businessman reportedly continued: ‘It’s unbelievable. For what? He killed more people than in 10 years in the [Soviet] Afghan war.’
Russia’s secret service is said to have circulated a memo to regional chiefs around the time of the recording ordering them to ignore rumours about the Putin’s health.
Many intelligence officers reportedly interpreted the rare communication as confirmation that their president was indeed in a serious condition.
While no reports on his health condition have been independently verified, a number of images have emerged of the leader looking frail and unusually puffy around the face.
He was seen wrapped in a thick jacket with a heavy blanket over his legs during a Victory Day parade last week during which similarly-aged officials around him wore standard uniforms.
Footage emerged in April in which Putin’s hand appeared to shake uncontrollably while he firmly gripped his chair.
Earlier that month, an investigation suggested he was under near-constant supervision by a cancer surgeon and other specialist doctors who would typically monitor a cancer patient.
Speculation over the nature of his possible ailments has varied from Parkinson’s disease to cancer of the thyroid, a gland in the neck that controls heart rate and body temperature.
Paranoia, impulsive behaviour and delusions are known symptoms in patients with advanced Parkinson’s.

Former president Donald Trump and other Republicans are ramping up their attacks on Kathy Barnette, a political novice who has raised a fraction of the money of her well-heeled Pennsylvania primary rivals — hedge fund magnate David McCormick and television doctor Mehmet Oz — yet is surging in the race for the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate.
Trump, who has endorsed Oz, issued a statement Thursday insisting Barnette “will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats.” Oz called her a “mystery person” and a super PAC supporting him is running an ad titled “Crazy Kathy.” McCormick pointed to her double-digit loss in a bid for Congress in 2020 as one of the reasons the GOP can’t take a risk with her on the Senate seat.
But many voters are taking a hard look at this upstart. Barnette, 50, is a political commentator, author and home-schooling mother who has criticized public education and undocumented immigrants. In a campaign video and multiple interviews on conservative media, Barnette has said that she was born in southern Alabama to a 12-year-old mother who was raped. She was raised in poverty and eventually joined the Army National Guard before launching an unsuccessful bid for Congress in 2020.
I see dopey is studying at the Roger school of economic stupidity.

Friday
Stocks jumped Friday, trimming losses from another down week and preventing the S&P 500 from tumbling into bear market territory.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 466.36 points to 32,196.66, or 1.47%. The S&P 500 gained 2.39% to close at 4,023.89 and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 3.82% to 11,805.
The S&P 500 on Friday finished its best day since May 4, while the Nasdaq posted its strongest one-day gain since November 2020.
Despite Friday’s gains, the major averages posted losses for the week, with the Dow closing down 2.14% and posting its first 7-week losing streak since 2001. The S&P 500 fell 2.4% and hit its longest weekly losing streak since 2011, while the Nasdaq slipped 2.8%.
“Just as trees don’t climb to the sky, prices don’t fall forever,” said Sam Stovall, chief investment strategist at CFRA. “Even in corrections and approaching bear markets, they tend to experience relief rallies, which is what the markets appear to be starting today.”

And the Saudi's decision to keep production low was based largely on a deal they had made with Russia.
Killing Keystone XL and suspending domestic energy production and exploration can be laid directly at the feet of Joey Sprinkles. And in a weak attempt to protect Joey, the House is introducing a bill this week to address gouging by the oil companies but introducing price controls. The charade WILL die in the Senate, but it serves to keep imbeciles like BWAA and the alky enthralled.

Biden administration cancels Alaska oil and gas lease sale
BY SARA COOK, WEIJIA JIANG, MATTHEW MOSK
UPDATED ON: MAY 13, 2022 / 11:39 AM / CBS NEWS
The Biden administration has canceled one of the most high-profile oil and gas lease opportunities pending before the Interior Department. The decision, which halts the potential to drill for oil in over 1 million acres in the Cook Inlet in Alaska, comes at a challenging political moment, when gas prices are hitting painful new highs.

Bidenomics I s working , as designed.
ABC NEWS
"Gas prices surge to new record high of $4.43 per gallon"
Let’s remember something. Joe Biden isn’t the leader of the country. Joe Biden is more like a talking potato. That’s why I’m calling him POTATUS now. Joe Biden is Ron Burgundy. He says whatever is on his cheat-sheet flash cards or his teleprompter.
He isn’t capable of reasoned, intelligent speech. At his best he was one of the dumbest, shallowest members of the U.S. Senate; Biden said what he was told to say by the people who paid him and by his political advisors. He never had much in the way of independent thought, which is why he was constantly caught plagiarizing others’ speeches when he wasn’t engaging in whiplash-inducing reversals of his positions. Joe Biden has always been a dim bulb, and that was before his cognition went into sleep mode.
It’s the people who load that teleprompter and hand him those flash cards who matter. Jill Biden, Ron Klain, Susan Rice — whoever the monsters behind the curtain are, those are the ones who are actually doing the talking.
And while they might couch Biden’s words in terms of the MAGA crowd being dangerous to America, that isn’t what they’re really saying. Because they couldn’t give a tinker’s damn about America. If they did they’d shut down the border and at least keep the fentanyl out.
What they care about is their power. So when they screech about the revivalists or Trumpists, or MAGA people, what they’re saying is they’re afraid of the new and emerging majority within the GOP which has had it with Bill Cassidy/Mitt Romney Stupid Party Bush Republicanism and is willing to go on offense to whip them in the elections to come.
The loss of political power is, for these people, akin to death. They can’t take it. Look at their behavior during the four years Donald Trump was in the White House. And they’re telling you they can see the end.
So from this quarter, while you can surely be dismayed and irritated at the stupidity emanating from Team Biden, the advice is this: just know that they’re showing their hand — and it’s a weak one.
But be on your guard, because the drowning man will pull others under if he can. And Team Biden is drowning. Make no mistake about it.

Bidenomics created it.
"Biden: “I Guarantee You We’re Going To End Fossil Fuel”
Tesla/SpaceX CEO doesn’t like Trump’s “dramatic style.”
QUICK FACTS:Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Thursday said a candidate “less divisive” than President Donald J. Trump should be elected to the White House in 2024.“Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored to Twitter,” Musk said.Musk poked at what he referred to as Tump’s dramatic style. “Biden’s mistake is that he thinks he was elected to transform the country, but actually everyone just wanted less drama,” he wrote. The business tycoon’s skepticism toward a Trump 2024 presidential bid comes after he defended the 45th President to the Financial Times, saying Twitter’s decision to ban the former president was “foolish in the extreme.”“Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots, or scam, spam accounts…,” Musk said. “I do think that it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country, and it did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice.”

And now Alky <still very single) is Pro-Elon Musk.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with a U.S. Senate delegation led by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Saturday in Kyiv, calling the visit “a powerful signal of bipartisan support for Ukraine from the U.S. Congress and the American people,” his presidential office said.
Among the senators visible in a video, in which they were greeted by Zelensky on a Kyiv street, were Susan Collins (R-Maine), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and John Cornyn (R-Tex.).
“Russia is committing genocide against the Ukrainian people,” Zelensky said in a news release announcing the senators’ visit. “Europe has not seen such crimes since World War II.”
He noted “the special role of the United States” in ramping up sanctions on Russia and said he looked forward to further sanctions on Russia’s banking sector. “In addition, we believe that Russia should be officially recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism,” Zelensky said.
He also expressed hope that the U.S. Senate would quickly approve a nearly $40 billion package of additional funding for Ukraine. On Thursday, Sen. Rand Paul, McConnell’s fellow Kentucky Republican in the chamber, delayed passage of the bill; he was the lone holdout on a motion to quickly pass the measure. The bill will be up for full Senate debate in the coming week.
The unannounced trip to Kyiv by McConnell’s delegation continued a parade of visits to Ukraine in recent weeks by U.S. and allied government officials, lawmakers and dignitaries to show support for the war-ravaged country and its embattled leader.

Oil prices rose about 4% on Friday as U.S. gasoline prices jumped to a record high and China looked ready to ease pandemic restrictions.
Investors also worried that supplies will tighten if the European Union bans Russian oil.
Brent futures rose $4.10, or 3.8%, to settle at $111.55 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose $4.36, or 4.1%, to settle at $110.49.
That was the highest close for WTI since March 25 and its third straight weekly rise. Brent fell for the first time in three weeks.
U.S. gasoline futures have soared to an all-time high after stockpiles fell last week for a sixth straight week. That boosted the gasoline crack spread – a measure of refining profit margins – to its highest since it hit a record in April 2020 when WTI finished in negative territory.
“There has not been an increase in (U.S.) gasoline storage since March,” said Robert Yawger, executive director of energy futures at Mizuho, noting gasoline demand is poised to spike when summer driving season starts on the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
AAA said the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Friday for the 10th time in 11 days, increasing 1.4 cents to $5.87, one day after rising a half-cent.
Locally, the average price has risen 8.6 cents over the past 11 days, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

Across the country, prices at the pump rose to record highs on Friday of $4.43 per gallon for gasoline and $5.56 for diesel. California’s prices, though, always outpace the rest of the nation, due to taxes and other factors.
Oil prices have been volatile, supported by worries a possible EU ban on Russian oil could tighten supplies but pressured by fears that a resurgent COVID-19 pandemic could cut global demand.
“An EU embargo, if fully enacted, could take about 3 million bpd (barrels per day) of Russian oil offline, which will completely disrupt, and ultimately shift global trade flows, triggering market panic and extreme price volatility,” said Rystad Energy analyst Louise Dickson.
This week, Moscow slapped sanctions on several European energy companies, causing worries about supplies.
And lets not forget about Iran........
Elise Stefanik Alludes to Conspiracy Theory
May 14, 2022 at 8:20 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 185 Comments
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), chair of the House GOP conference, “appeared to allude to a bizarre and baseless claim popular in some conservative circles when she tweeted that Democrats and the ‘usual pedo grifters’ are ‘out of touch’ with Americans,”
the Washington Post reports.
“The claim that ‘pedos’ — short for ‘pedophiles’ — infiltrate the ranks of government is central to QAnon, the collection of right-wing debunked claims that former president Donald Trump was secretly leading a war against an elite cabal of pedophiles who control Washington, Hollywood and the world.”

That can produce all the world needs , IF given the rights to do it.
Maureen Dowd gets it dead nutz. how the supremes are now imposing their religion on the whole country in spite of them saying they would not in their confirmation hearings....especially the handmaiden cunt who bows to her man......BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
WASHINGTON — During her Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Amy Coney Barrett tried to reassure Democrats who were leery of her role as a “handmaid” in a Christian group called “People of Praise.”
The group has a male-dominated hierarchy and a rigid view of sexuality reflecting conservative gender norms and rejecting openly gay men and women. Men, the group’s decision makers, “headed” their wives.
Justice Barrett said then that she would not impose her personal beliefs on the country. “Judges can’t just wake up one day and say ‘I have an agenda — I like guns, I hate guns, I like abortion, I hate abortion’ — and walk in like a royal queen and impose their will on the world,” she said amicably. “It’s not the law of Amy. It’s the law of the American people.
Yet that’s what seems to be coming. Like a royal queen, she will impose her will on the world. It will be the law of Amy. And Sam. And Clarence. And Neil. And Brett.
Image
It’s outrageous that five or six people in lifelong unaccountable jobs are about to impose their personal views on the rest of the country. While they will certainly provide the legal casuistry for their opinion, let’s not be played for fools: The Supreme Court’s impending repeal of Roe will be owed to more than judicial argumentation. There are prior worldviews at work in this upheaval
As a Catholic whose father lived through the Irish Catholics “need not apply” era, I’m happy to see Catholics do well in the world. There is an astonishing preponderance of Catholics on the Supreme Court — six out of the nine justices, and a seventh, Neil Gorsuch, was raised as a Catholic and went to the same Jesuit boys’ high school in a Maryland suburb that Brett Kavanaugh and my nephews did, Georgetown Prep.
Still, this Catholic feels an intense disquiet that Catholic doctrine may be shaping (or misshaping) the freedom and the future of millions of women, and men. There is a corona of religious fervor around the court, a churchly ethos that threatens to turn our whole country upside down.
