At least once a week during dinner, Cathy Smith and her husband, Robert, are confronted with the same choice: Don't let the kids have seconds or forgo a meal themselves.
“I have growing children, and I want to make sure they have enough portions to nourish themselves,” says Smith, 40, a mother of five who works at an Atlanta-area school district as a recruiter. “It’s to the point that we have stopped buying cereal because milk is so expensive.”
American families, like the Smiths, who spend most of their income on necessities such as groceries, gas and rent are struggling as inflation, at 8.3%, remains near 40-year highs and consumer prices surge.
Makes me wonder if the Trump haters are proud of themselves for ruining the country, all because they didn't like the "bad orange man".

Guess who the NRA has received a large infusion of cash from recently.
Russia.
It didn't really happen.
All those parents claiming their kids were shot are paid actors, hired by leftists who are trying to take away our sacred right to own all the weapons we want of any kind without having to undergo any background checks.
Ummmm.... What?
You know good and well it didn't happen, Ch. It's just a leftist lie.
But thank goodness, this will bring the NRA even more money donated from Russia.

The National Rifle Association reported this week that it received more money from people with Russian ties than it has previously acknowledged, but announced that it was officially done cooperating with a congressional inquiry exploring whether illicit Kremlin-linked funding passed through the NRA and into Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said on Wednesday.
Wyden released a letter from the NRA, dated Tuesday, in which the gun rights group reported receiving $2,512.85 in contributions and membership dues “from people associated with Russian addresses” or known Russian nationals living in the United States from 2015 to the present. In the past, a congressional aide to Wyden said, the group had confirmed receiving only one financial contribution, in the form of a lifetime membership purchased by Alexander Torshin, a Russian banker.

I spoke with one just this morning. A retired physician who's quite smug over being rid of Trump and who could not fucking care less about people like Cathy Smith and her family. And, being a retired physician, money's not a problem as he's flush with $$$.
The Smith's are acceptable collateral damage according to guys like him.
The left is truly heartless on this particular topic. The end justified the means.

Oh, sorry. Less money from Russian citizens and Russian Americans than I thought.
Sorry.
By now, the story of American gun violence is unsurprising. Mass shootings happen frequently. The list from just the past decade includes supermarkets in Buffalo and in Boulder, Colo.; a rail yard in San Jose, Calif.; a birthday party in Colorado Springs; a convenience store in Springfield, Mo.; a synagogue in Pittsburgh; churches in Sutherland Springs, Texas, and in Charleston, S.C.; a Walmart in El Paso; a FedEx warehouse in Indianapolis; a music festival in Las Vegas; massage parlors in the Atlanta area; a Waffle House in Nashville; a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla.; and a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.
Even school shootings happen often enough that we know some of the names: Sandy Hook Elementary School, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Oxford High School, Santa Fe High School, Columbine High School. Robb Elementary School in Uvalde has joined this horrific list.
If American gun violence is no longer surprising, it still is shocking. On an average day in the U.S., more than 35 people are murdered with a gun. No other affluent country in the world has a gun homicide rate nearly as high.
Republicans block 🚫 any legislation that doesn't violated the second amendment.
You don't care how many more children will die from semi automatic weapons that can be banned by the federal government and state governments.
But in Texas anyone over 17 can buy an AR-15 or a very similar.
In the mid 60s I took gun safety training by the NRA. I was legally carry a gun when I was 14! I couldn't purchase one until I was 18.
If I was as crazy as the shooter yesterday I would have been able to carry a semi automatic rifle into West Junior High School in Rapid City when I was 14.
We need screening and more difficult decisions to reduce this problem.
Were the majority of children killed in Texas Latinos?
Did that have anything to do with it?
I really don't know, but were the majority of children killed in Texas Latinos?
If so, did that have anything to do with it?
As explained on the other thread Reverend...
Gun deaths make up 0.5% of all US deaths
Mass shootings make up about 0.6% of all gun deaths
Seems like we get awful excited over something that is objectively a minor issue in comparison to other issues we have.
over 100,000 people died of drug overdoses last year?
that is about 100 times as many people who will be shot in a mass shooting
When are you doing to stand up and make a stance on the bigger problems?
So Reverend...
why is race important in this situation?
The killer was obviously hispanic. Does that make it any better or any worse?

__________
That makes mass killing of children in schools more acceptable, Ch?
I have always been opposed to potentially lethal drugs.
If I was as crazy as the shooter yesterday I would have been able to carry a semi automatic rifle into West Junior High School in Rapid City when I was 14.
LOL.
You asshole.
When I was a kid in Upstate NY virtually every car and truck in the school parking lot contained a rifle or shotgun. The students AND the teachers. Especially during deer season. And some phys ed classes taught marksmanship. Collectively there was a fucking arsenal.
Why weren't there mass shootings back then, alky?
It's because the left had not begun to destroy the nuclear family and most wholesome civic organizations like the Boy Scouts.
Fast forward 50 years and behold the carnage the left has wrought on American society.
We used to treat mental illness in America. Now we CELEBRATE it and give it special consideration. And folks like the 'Libs of Tik Tok' have chosen to catalogue and share the fucking green-haired idiots who look like they fell face-first into a fucking tackle box.
Embrace the suck of what your team created alky.
OWN IT.
Reverend...
I don't believe the killing of any kids should be acceptable?
Why are you ONLY concerned when it is a mass shooting, rather than a kid being killed in a driveby, or a kid being killed with a handgun, or a kid being killed in a gang shooting?
We can all be appalled at any mass shooting.
But when on average you have 55 gun related deaths per day, maybe there would be more credibility and it would seem less political if you took all gun deaths and gun murders seriously.
Here are some more statistics, Ch.
https://www.courthousenews.com/guns-kill-children-again/
The article was written before reports of this last school massacre came in.
Bidenomics is so bad, The Three Socialist Stooges of CHT can't debate it.
New home Sales aka The American Dream plummet.
Jimmy Hitler I took the class so I could go deer hunting with my father Ivan and I shot and killed my first deer when I was 14.
and if the article's statistics really change because of 20 deaths (about 36% of the average day) - then we are not exactly looking at big numbers here.
But seriously???
Comparing gun deaths with Rattlesnakes and Black Widow spiders?
More than 24 times as many Americans kill themselves with guns each year than are shot to death by police. This is not an excuse for police — it’s a sad fact.
More than 45,000 Americans were killed by guns in 2020. More than half of those gun deaths (54%) were suicides. In other words, more than twice as many Americans kill themselves with guns each year than die by homicide, according to FBI crime statistics. (All links in this article are to reliable, often multiple, sources.)
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 45,979 Americans killed themselves in 2020. That’s more than five suicides each hour around the clock for a year. And the rate keeps increasing. Suicide is the 12th-ranked cause of U.S. deaths. In 2020, 24,292 U.S. suicides were by guns, 12,495 by suffocation (mostly hanging), and 5,528 by poison.
Police officers kill about 1,000 people a year in the United States, and have done so for years. So are police the problem? Well, they are a problem. But of the roughly 45,000 people shot to death every year in the United States, police officers — our presumed protectors — account for about 2% of those killings.
It was actually changed
Enough of what James?
Jimmy Hitler I took the class so I could go deer hunting with my father Ivan and I shot and killed my first deer when I was 14.
Did you then turn around and shoot up the Rapid City Jr High?
I thought not...
I also grew up in a smallish city with a bunch of rural kids. I would guess that there were hundreds of guns owned by the kids in our school and nobody ever took one into the school and killed anyone.
This isn't about "guns". If it was, then we would have had mass shootings prior to 1999. How could we have had generations of kids growing up with guns who never opened fire on their classmates?
This is about society today... and about society since columbine.
Rat is right! The kids have been ruined. Not by guns but by the "progress" of liberalism.

I don't understand how a hero Border Patrol agent could have stopped a mass murder because Joe Biden told me the Border Patrol was a bunch of whip-wielding white supremacists.
and gun laws aren't easier than 50 years ago when this really wasn't a problem in America
And we actually enforeced laws back then
and didn't have such a flood of illegal immigrants
and "sanctuary" cities
And "woke" teachers
And children addicted to "woke" Disney and other content
Of course we didn't have all those medicated children back then
and "transitioning" children
and masked children
liberalism is a disease killing America
and likely being encouraged by Chinese bots and the communist party
1,750 babies were killed in the womb today.
Abortions is by far the carnage that us happening.
1990 Gun Act made all schools gun free zones.
