The number is in the ballpark of big television events like a “Sunday Night Football” game.
More than 19 million people watched the first prime-time hearing of the House Select Committee’s investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on Thursday night, according to preliminary ratings figures from Nielsen.
By scheduling a congressional hearing for 8 to 10 p.m., committee members and Democrats were hoping to make the case to the biggest audience possible. ABC, CBS and NBC pre-empted their prime-time programming and went into special-report mode to cover it live.
Though the Thursday night figure pales next to presidential debates (63 million to 73 million) or this year’s State of the Union address (38 million), it’s still much larger than the audience that would normally watch a daytime congressional hearing.
So they preempted everything in a desperate attempt to capture their audience and came up with about half as many people who would watch the State of the Union. To put it in perspective, about 5% of the American public watched the hearing last night. That means you walk into the local store with 19 other people and only one of you bothered to watch the fiasco!
But since it was the media that is trying to hype this whole deal, they will tell you that preempting almost every major network to cut to this, only to end up like an average "Sunday Night Football game" on one channel is super outcome. This is where the media reporting on themselves is pretty much fake news!

Fifty years ago, the Senate Watergate committee made TV history with its raw, spontaneously chaotic but revelatory hearings into Richard Nixon’s election subversion.
On Thursday night, by contrast, the treatment of Trump’s election subversion was polished and pre-conceived, with the committee chair, Mississippi Democratic congressman Bennie Thompson, and vice-chair, Wyoming Republican Liz Cheney, the daughter of former vice-president Dick Cheney, reading off an autocue.
So carefully were the proceedings orchestrated that they could have come across as bland and overproduced.
But by the time the two leading panel members had laid out their case against Trump’s meticulously planned coup attempt, and after the nation had been assailed by harrowing footage of the January 6 violence and testimony by a female police officer describing being caught up in a “war scene”, it was anything but.
Peter Baker of the New York Times concluded that in the entire 246-year history of the US since the declaration of independence, “there was surely never a more damning indictment presented against an American president”.

Like the 3 here the entire audience is washed up geriatric hippies that are one step from death’s door and are locked down or afraid of their own shadows and Covid
LOL
You and 1.3 million watched
The Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity dedicated their shows to Jan. 6, and both had the hearing playing live in a split screen — but the feed from Congress was muted while the hosts spent two hours belittling the committee’s efforts.
“It’s deranged, and we’re not playing along,” Mr. Carlson said of the hearings. “This is the only hour on an American news channel that will not be carrying their propaganda live. They are lying, and we are not going to help them do it. What we will do instead is to try to tell you the truth.”
Fox’s counterprogramming efforts drew an average audience of three million, which is just about normal.
The Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum did cover the hearings live but did so on Fox Business, which attracts far fewer viewers. Roughly 223,000 people watched the hearings on Fox Business. When Mr. Baier and Ms. MacCallum switched over to Fox News for a two-hour special at 11 p.m., an average of 1.3 million watched.
More than 19 million people watched the Jan. 6 hearing, an early tally showed.

BWAAAAAAPAAAAAA!!!!!! Now Lil Schitty and shorty hoping ratings will be what exonerates trumps crimes!!!!!! Most amusing the desperation that no one cares is again you ejaculating prematurely like the old white asshole you are!!!!! As even assholes know....trump never let anyone but himself run things in his companies and this whole affair is no doubt has his fingerprints all over it!!!!!! More people will come to that realization as the truth dribbles out like you piss stream, Lil Schitty!!!!! BTW.....still going to stick with ballot harvesting as the basis for massive voter fraud!!!!! Now that is most amusing!!!!!!!!!!
Not only did the president refuse to tell the mob to leave the Capitol; he placed no call to any element of the United States government to instruct that the Capitol be defended,” Cheney said. “He did not call his secretary of defense on January 6th. He did not talk to his attorney general. He did not talk to the Department of Homeland Security. President Trump gave no order to deploy the National Guard that day and he made no effort to work with the Department of Justice to coordinate and deploy law enforcement assets. Then-Vice President Pence did each of those things.”

Gee whiz, Roger...
Given this line of nonsense...
You would have thought it was the President and not Congress and the D.C. Police department that was in charge of Capitol complex security.
Every time you make this argument Roger...
You proof once again that you are falling for the trap.
RRB will get crazier
United States has unveiled a plan that it says will help nations across the Americas region address migration, as President Joe Biden’s administration seeks greater cooperation to deter rising numbers of asylum seekers from seeking to reach the US.
The White House on Friday released a factsheet describing the “Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection at the Summit of the Americas”, which aims to “mobilize the entire region around bold actions that will transform our approach to managing migration”.

Roger...
What did "YOU" do when the attacks started?
Who did "YOU" call?
The Secretary of Defense? (who constitutionally has no authority)
The Attorney General who apparently was going to head down the riot and indict people?
The Department of Homeland Security who apparently would come investigate?
Oh... and my personal favorite.
Did you call the National Guard even though they fall under the leadership of the Mayor?
You can't help yourself Roger.
It was provided to you. You will not question it!
He was the Commanders in Chief he could have called DC or other places to send troops or even Secret to agents
Given this line of nonsense..
.NONESENSE YOU DUMB FUCK!!!!!!!!! The only one ordering the military was Pence who was cut off at his knees because Meadows did not like the narrative....the fat fuck trump watched TV and did FUCKING NOTHING but allow it to continue!!!!!!! Your disingenuous bullshit argument that the local police and were in charge is just another excuse to put the blame on Pelosi for not doing her job!!!!!! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! You really are a sick and deranged fuck, Lil Schitty without a fucking clue that election was stolen with a single fucking fact!!!!
It was one of the more unexpected takeaways of the night: in the age of six-second videos and frenetic social media posts around the clock, primetime set-piece television can still land a punch.
He was the Commander in Chief idol
Is that sort of like the American Idol?
The only time a President is in charge of National Guards is under "Title 10"
The part that might be referenced is this:
Federal Aid for State Governments.
Whenever an insurrection occurs in any state against its government, the President may, upon the request of its legislature or of its governor call into Federal service such of the militia of the other states. This is a statutory exception to the PCA
Title 10 has no authority to enforce "Domestic law enforcement".
The PCA is also known as The Posse Comitatus Act. it is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes which limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States.
So basically Roger...
Under the laws, the President cannot use Federal military to enforce domestic laws. In the case of this sort of riot (if it was truly deemed a sedition) - the President "could" call in the national guard, but only at the request of Congress or a local Governor (in DC that would be the Mayor).
So the question becomes Roger...
Was it Congress or the DC Mayor who requested Trump call in the National Guard?
And why would the Mayor make that step when he can call them himself?
Either way...
Your "simplistic argument that Trump was the CIC and therefor responsible is hogwash".
But since it is your ONLY argument... I am sure you will continue to make it!
He actually is exhibiting i irrational diabetes..
I'm not a psychologist, but over the last few years I've seen some symptoms of IED I have done a lot of research and because I have been living with a guy who has it.

LOS ANGELES, MAY 1 -- This scarred, smoldering city held its breath after dark tonight as police and National Guard troops appeared to have substantially restored order, and President Bush deployed 4,000 Army and Marine troops in the effort to end two days of urban anarchy.
Authorities said 40 people have been killed and more than 1,500 injured. More than 3,700 fires have been reported by city officials, and more than 3,000 arrests have been made.

Martial law involves the temporary substitution of military authority for civilian rule and is usually invoked in time of war, rebellion, or natural disaster.

I don't think you can open the border any wider than it already is alky.
That doesn't bother me in the least. We all know that this administration cares for the sovereignty of all other nations and not our own.

At the REQUEST of the Governor of California, alky.
That's how the Insurrection Act works.
Neither Muriel Bowser of Nancy Peloshee requested Trump to send in troops.
Lacking proper warning by LAPD, CANG loaned out to local agencies key items of riot control equipment such as face shields, riot batons and lock plates for their M-16 rifles. Logistics failures included ammunition shortages and transportation and communications snafus. Training was inadequate and predicated on the mistaken belief that the troops would face only a riot and not "low-intensity conflict (or urban warfare)" Training before and during the crisis was based on out of date "crowd control" techniques prescribed in the 1985 Army Field Manual 19-15, Civil Disturbances. Absolutely no one, civilian or military, expected a situation where the National Guard would be needed on the streets in a matter of hours.
The federal response was timely. SecDef Richard Cheney put 4,000 Army and Marine troops on alert on 30 April 1992. President Bush invoked the Insurrection Act via Executive Order 12804 [not Executive Order 6427] of 1 May 1992, federalizing elements of the California National Guard and authorizing active military forces from the Army and Marine Corps to help restore law and order. Following this Presidential Executive Order on 1 May, JTF-LA was formed. The Executive Order federalized unit of the California Army National Guard (CAARNG) and authorized active military forces to assist in the restoration of law and order. JTF-LA formed and deployed within 24 hours. It operated in a unique domestic disturbance environment while working with city, county, state, federal agencies, and the CAARNG. JTF-LA was completely successful in meeting the three objectives defined in its mission statement, which were-assume command and control of federalized National Guard and AC Marine and Army forces, establish liaison with local law enforcement agencies; and conduct civil disturbance operations to restore order in the greater LA area.

Democrats and Republicans alike are telling idiots house democrats that IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID.
Pile this on top of democrats outrageous support of murder threats against USSC justices and their families. ACB has 7 small children. Americans are demanding to know where the he'll is the outrage from this idiot president and power Hungry democrats.
The President has the authority to sign an executive order
This whole riot started around 1:00 and was done by 6:00... 6:30 at the latest.
and contrary to popular belief about 150 DC National Guards and more Virginia national guardsmen (at the request of the virginia Governor) showed up, were sworn in, and assisted in the control. Secretary Miller also authorized out of state National Guard to come to the Capitol post riot.
Not sure how fast you thought that the Federal military could be deployed to stop a 5 hour ordeal... but no "executive order" or "declaration of martial law" would help. Only the local DC and Virginia National Guard were in any position to help.
Oddly... Pelosi rejected several requests for them to be on-hand. Would have made a difference and most likely prevented the entire deal. Heck, even if the Capitol Police had been at full force (but for some reason they were not) - things might have been different.
This 20-20 hindsight armchair quarterbacking that makes no logical sense.
The time to have acted was "prior" to Jan 6th.
To be prepared for something....
Not to man your police at less than full force, then blame everyone else when nobody can come to the rescue fast enough.
Ultimately, the events last night amounted to a damp squib. The chain of claims that supposedly link Donald Trump to the actions of moronic hooligans is tendentious. The case is based on assertions that Trump told “lies” about matters of opinion, and that he did not listen to the advice of some of his aides. Trump called for a rally which turned into a riot; therefore, Trump caused a riot. Some of the mob imagined that they could prevent the transfer of power; therefore, the whole thing was an attempted coup.
This kind of dramatisation has become all too typical of the Democrats, but it is clear that voters have grown tired of it. Until they can give up the Trump ghost and focus on issues that actually matter to voters — cost of living, inflation, and crime — the party will face electoral annihilation in 2022 and beyond.
BWAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Another fucking lying thief caught stealing others thought!!!!!!

BWAAAAAAA!!!! Contrary to your abject stupidity......just more excuse making for the fat ass trump for being negligent in protecting our Democracy.....Dayum you are dumbing down, Lil Schitty!
"Trump called for a rally which turned into a riot"--
Yes, and he did not call the riot off even after it became clear to everyone what was happening, though many of his inner circle of aideds, advisers, etc. and even family members kept begging him to.
Trump let the riot go on and on and on, smiling and applauding it.

So what?
Explain this to me like I am a child.
There are hundreds of people rushing the Capitol....
and somehow the President "calls it off" ??
He obviously sent out tweets telling people to remain peaceful, bragging that they were the Party of law and order. Obviously nobody rushing the Capitol was watching their Twitter feed, nor would it have been likely to have stopped them had they seen the tweets...
so explain to me Reverend.
How EXACTLY does the President "call it off" ???
Hey fatty did you figure out rat was right Trump had the best economy of “his and my” lifetime?
