USSC is crushing the left and it must be driving them crazy...

USSC rules that football coach can actually pray on his own time after a football game has finished and that he should not be fired?

For years the left ran to court whenever they didn't like what was happening in the legislature. They relied on an activist liberal court to provide rights to an abortion, gay marriage, and a slew of other things. Now we can argue and bicker about whether these were good things or bad, but the fact was that none of the issues ultimately decided by the court had the amount of political capital needed to get them to pass at any sort of Federal level. Most of these court rulings were brought forth because of a state law that was passed by the will of the people that offended liberals generally on the other side of the country.

The left got so used to running to court and generally winning on many of these subjects that you almost felt that they got lazy when it came to actual politics.

Ironic that they all complain today that a conservative court is "illegitimate" and start screaming about court packing, term limits, and everything in between. On the flip side many of us would argue that a constitutional originalist court like we have today is exactly the sort of court we need to get these same liberals back under control.

After all... they got away with whatever "they" wanted to for so long that why would they believe that firing a football coach for "preying" wouldn't be supported by a court system that had been attacking religion and free speech for years. They believe that they pass crazy gun control legislation because previously there always seemed to be enough Justices unwilling to "hear" gun cases that they were basically safe to continue pushing those boundaries.

But at the end of the day you now have five Justices who are not afraid to put these cases on the docket and not politically petrified as to how decisions will be perceived. Of course you still have the three crazed liberals jumping up and down with their arms flailing, and of course Roberts will take a quarter stand three quarters of the time, and three quarters of a stand the other quarter of the time. But it would appear that there are five adults willing to stick to the constitution and the law regardless of how the Washington elites view it.

This is driving the left completely bonkers!

“The federal agents identified themselves as FBI agents, but they appeared to be executing a warrant issued at the behest of the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General,” Eastman’s lawyer, Charles Burnham, wrote in the 13-page filing.

Eastman accompanied the filing with a copy of the search warrant, authorized by a federal magistrate judge in Albuquerque.

A legal adviser to Trump’s campaign, Eastman has been a central figure in the Capitol riot committee’s case that the former president attempted to block the peaceful transfer of power on Jan. 6, 2021. A federal judge in California has previously ruled that Eastman and Trump “likely” entered a criminal conspiracy to obstruct the counting of electoral votes on Jan. 6.

The judge, U.S. District Court Judge David Carter, called their effort “a coup in search of a legal theory.”

The search of Eastman’s phone appears to have come amid a flurry of activity by federal prosecutors probing the Jan. 6 attack and efforts by Trump allies to authorize false slates of electors as part of a plan to overturn the 2020 election.

Last week, subpoenas were served on a slew of those false electors, including at least three state Republican Party chairs. Investigators also searched the Lorton, Va., home of former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, another critical player in Trump’s efforts.

“The FBI seized the phone of former President Donald Trump’s election attorney John Eastman last week, according to a new court filing from the lawyer,” CNN reports.

“About six federal investigators approached the right-wing lawyer in New Mexico when he was exiting a restaurant after dinner with his wife and a friend, according to the court filings. Agents were able to get access to Eastman’s email accounts on his iPhone 12 Pro.”

“Eastman contends the agents ‘forced’ him to unlock his phone.”

January 6 Committee CALLS SPECIAL HEARING

June 27, 2022 at 1:30 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 737 Comments

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol on Monday abruptly scheduled a hearing for Tuesday afternoon to hear what the panel called “recently obtained evidence” and take witness testimony,
the New York Times reports.

The hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m., according to a news release issued by the committee, in which it provided no other details about the surprise session.

Punchbowl News:
“The last-minute nature of this hearing signals that the committee has material that it needs to get into the public domain before next month.
Sources close to the panel tell us that there were numerous new developments over the weekend,
forcing this last-minute schedule shift.”

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol said Monday it will hold a surprise hearing on Tuesday to “present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony.”

It was not immediately clear whom the committee plans to interview and what topics lawmakers intend to focus on. The decision announced on Monday was shrouded in secrecy, with staff and committee members explicitly asked to go dark and not speak with media, according to two people involved with the investigation.

The news was so closely guarded that even some senior committee staff and aides to lawmakers were kept out of the loop as of Monday afternoon. Three people familiar with the investigation said that the secrecy is in part due to credible security threats to a witness.

Former Mark Meadows White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson is the surprise witness: report

Sarah K. Burris

June 27, 2022

After a day of speculation, it was revealed that former White House aide to Mark Meadows, Cassidy Hutchinson, will be the surprise testimony on Tuesday.

According to Punchbowl News managing editor Heather Caygle, Hutchinson will walk through some of the things she's also said in the two meetings with the committee totaling 20 hours of conversations under oath.

Three people familiar with the investigation told the Washington Post that the reason for the secrecy "is in part due to credible security threats to a witness."

Among the thing she revealed are conversations between Donald Trump and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, who conveyed to the president that his Jan. 6 plot doing was illegal.

"Hutchinson has provided extensive information about Meadows’s activities in trying to overturn the election," The Washington Post reported. "The Washington Post reported late last month that Hutchinson had told the committee that Meadows remarked to others that Trump indicated support for hanging his vice president after rioters who stormed the Capitol on that day started chanting, 'Hang Mike Pence!'"

Last month, Politico revealed Hutchinson told the committee that Meadows incinerated documents after a meeting with Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA). It was previously revealed that Trump attempted to flush documents down the toilet, clogging the pipes in the centuries-old building.

"Meadows played a critical role in shepherding an array of schemes entertained by Trump in his quest to hold onto power," explained Raw Story's Jordan Green. "That included hosting meetings with the president and members of the House Freedom Caucus to discuss a plan — much like [Peter] Navarro’s 'Green Bay Sweep' — to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to remand the electoral votes back to the battleground states and delay certifying the election for Biden, according to testimony to the January 6th Committee by White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

She detailed numerous meetings Meadows organized with lawmakers,  and was in the West Wing on Jan. 6.

Her appearance comes after the committee reversed course in announcing it would suspend hearings until July, announcing a hearing with exactly 24 hours notice and without providing any other details as to the identity of its new witness.

Instead, the committee only said it would convene to “present recently obtained evidence.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

During one hearing last week, the committee played a video clip of Hutchinson testifying that Meadows and former President Donald Trump’s onetime attorney Rudy Giuliani were involved in early conversations about putting forward fake slates of electors – a core tenet of the broader effort to overturn the 2020 election.

The panel has also played video of Hutchinson testifying that Rep. Scott Perry, a Pennsylvania Republican, wanted then-Justice Department lawyer Jeffrey Clark to take over the department – connecting another key part of Trump’s effort to upend Joe Biden’s election win.

“He wanted Mr. Clark – Mr. Jeff Clark – to take over the Department of Justice,” she said of Perry in a clip of her deposition that was played at a hearing last week.

Hutchinson also named several Republican members of Congress who she said had inquired about pardons, either for themselves or others, in the lead-up to January 6, according to other video played by the committee during its hearings, including: Perry and Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Jim Jordan of Ohio and Louie Gohmert of Texas.

CNN has reported that during one of her interviews with the committee, Hutchinson said Trump had suggested to Meadows that he approved of the “hang Mike Pence” chants from rioters who stormed the US Capitol.

She also testified that Trump had complained about his then-vice president being hustled to safety while Trump supporters breached the Capitol, the sources previously told CNN.

CNN previously reported that Hutchinson was likely to testify in person during one of the committee’s upcoming hearings after she replaced her lawyer who had significant links to Trump, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Happy Tuesday morning.

NEWS: Cassidy Hutchinson, former top aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, will testify before the Jan. 6 select committee later today. We scooped this last night, and we have more below on the backstory.

As Meadows’ executive assistant, Hutchinson had unique and constant access to him, former President Donald Trump and the White House inner circle in the run up to, during and after the Jan. 6 insurrection. She also was a main point of contact in the White House for dozens of members of Congress.

Having covered Meadows and the Trump White House, we can tell you that Hutchison was in the middle of almost everything that happened in the West Wing, so she’s a hugely important witness. Count on it.

Hutchinson has already made a couple of brief appearances during the select committee’s hearings in video snippets from her depositions, including naming some House GOP lawmakers who sought pardons from Trump following the deadly attack on the Capitol.

After the election, Hutchinson was in contact with officials in Georgia about efforts to overturn the election there. The Fulton County DA has impaneled a grand jury, considering whether to seek an indict Trump.

Hutchinson also testified that she saw Meadows burn papers in his office after meeting with Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) in the weeks before Jan. 6. Perry played a key role in the push to appoint Jeffrey Clark, a DOJ environmental lawyer, as acting attorney general in order to use the Justice Department to bolster Trump’s false election fraud claims.

CNN also reported that “Hutchinson told the January 6 committee that Trump had suggested to Meadows he approved of the ‘hang Mike Pence’ chants from rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol.”

Meadows has refused to testify before the panel. The former GOP member from North Carolina turned over thousands of text messages from lawmakers, White House aides and others to the select committee before abruptly changing positions and declining to cooperate any further late last year. The House voted in December to recommend contempt charges against Meadows but the Justice Department declined to pursue a criminal indictment.

The select committee had always hoped Hutchinson would testify publicly. But after insisting for the last week that it would push its hearings until July, we scooped yesterday that the Jan. 6 committee would hold a hearing today because they had unearthed new evidence.

So why now? Since changing lawyers earlier this month, Hutchinson has been much more cooperative with the select committee, we’re told by multiple sources.

Hutchinson’s previous lawyer, Stefan Passantino, was the White House ethics lawyer under Trump and is still very much in the former president’s orbit. Her new lawyer, Jody Hunt, served as chief of staff to then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Hutchinson has testified before the panel four times, including once within the last 10 days.

Most importantly, we’re told Hutchinson’s firsthand account – her direct testimony and evidence – meaningfully informs the hearings the panel has planned for July. There have also been “sincere concerns” about Hutchinson’s physical security because of what she knows and has revealed to the committee, we’re told.

Due to these reasons, select committee members felt they had to hold the hearing today and couldn’t wait until the House returns from recess in mid-July. The hearing kicks off at 1 p.m.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

This is separate from the hearings today on former President of the United States of America.

Conducted by federal agents, not FBI officers.

Federal agents armed with a search warrant have seized the phone of John Eastman, a lawyer who advised former President Donald J. Trump on key elements of the effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to a court filing by Mr. Eastman on Monday.

The seizure of Mr. Eastman’s phone is the latest evidence that the Justice Department is intensifying its sprawling criminal investigation into the various strands of Mr. Trump’s efforts to remain in power after he was defeated for re-election.

In the past week alone, the department has delivered grand jury subpoenas to a variety of figures with roles in backing Mr. Trump’s efforts and it carried out at least one other search of a key figure.

The filing by Mr. Eastman, a motion to recover property from the government, said that F.B.I. agents in New Mexico, acting on behalf of the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General, stopped Mr. Eastman as he was leaving a restaurant last Wednesday and seized his iPhone.
-------------------
Eventually they will have to decide whether or not indict a former President of the United States of America who attempted to stop the peaceful transfer of power.

Here are the bombshells surprise J6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson has already dropped

Brad Reed

June 28, 2022

Former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson will be the star witness at a surprise House Select Committee hearing on Tuesday, and Politico's Ryan Lizza and Eugene Daniels report that she's already dropped a number of shock revelations about former President Donald Trump's efforts to illegally stay in power.

While it's not known what new information Hutchinson will be giving at Tuesday's hearing, her past testimony has already revealed a number of explosive stories about Trump and other White House officials' actions in the days leading up to the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol.

Among other things, Hutchison has revealed that multiple Republican lawmakers sought preemptive pardons for their roles in helping Trump stay in power; that Meadows burned documents in his office shortly after having a meeting with Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), who was a key congressional ally in the efforts to block certification of the 2020 election; that Meadows said Trump believed Vice President Mike Pence deserved to be hanged; that White House counsel Pat Cipollone informed the Trump White House that their plan to use "alternate" electors was flatly illegal; and that Trump stopped talking about invoking martial law because "it became clear that there would be mass resignations, including lawyers in the White House Counsel's Office."

Given all this, expectations for Hutchinson's testimony are high in terms of what new information she might reveal.
