How much fun is it to watch the complete and total meltdown of the left over their recent court losses?

The left is so used to the courts doing their dirty work that they cannot handle it when it doesn't go their way!

A ridiculous article was cut and pasted about how our USSC is part of some sort of billionaire conspiracy to undercut the very fabric of America! Apparently American values generally involve the killing of fetuses indiscriminately while taking away constitutional rights to free speech, free exercise of religion, and the right to bear arms.

Who knew?

Funny thing here. Nobody has yet to tell me exactly why any of the recent USSC decisions were wrong as a matter of constitutional law? The criticism seems to be 100% political and 0% merit related. Not even the dissents from the other Supreme Court Justices were able to actually attack any of the logic or argue with the legal merits of the majority opinions. They just didn't like the result or how the decisions would affect the politics involved. Politics and law are two different things. That is why we have separate branches.

The reality is that Democrats now find themselves in a pretty bad spot. Their chances of keeping both chambers of congress is almost zero. They may have lost the House for quite some time and if they lose the Senate that may be gone even longer. The chances of them passing anything remotely liberal in the near future is likely dead. They used to run to court everytime the laws didn't agree with their believes. But now the court is no longer favorable to them. We are even seeing the dreaded 9th circuit come back with decisions that would make Scalia smile.

What do you do when you are losing all the battles? You look to do something drastic.  Or you become over the top with rhetorical nonsense. Today the left is doing the latter while threatening the former. It is quite fun to watch!

The Secret Service may have violated a federal law stipulating rules on record keeping by undergoing a process that deleted communications between the agency around the day of the January 6 Capitol riot, according to a Wednesday press release from the two chairs of the House select committee investigating the attack.

"The procedure for preserving content prior to this purge appears to have been contrary to federal records retention requirements and may represent a possible violation of the Federal Records Act," a letter from Reps. Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney said.

The Federal Records Act of 1950 outlines rules for employees of federal agencies on what information qualifies as a federal record and which ones are to be collected, retained, destroyed, or permanently archived.

The letter from the January 6 panel chairs also reveals a "system migration process," that the Secret Service previously said resulted in lost data, had occurred just three weeks after the riot.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The US Secret Service system migration process went forward on January 27, 2021, just three weeks after the attack on the Capitol in which the Vice President of the United States, while under the protection of the Secret Service, was steps from a violent mob hunting for him," the letter said.

The January 6 panel subpoenaed the Secret Service on July 15 to retrieve communications data from the agency after the Department of Homeland Security said that messages from agents' phones on January 5 and January 6, 2021, were deleted.

The Secret Service previously said that a "pre-planned, three-month system migration" resulted in lost data, according to a letter from Thompson.

So far, the committee had received one text message from the agency.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

A watchdog agency learned in February that the Secret Service had purged nearly all cellphone texts from around the time of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, but chose not to alert Congress, according to three people briefed on the internal discussions.

That watchdog agency, the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General, also prepared in October 2021 to issue a public alert that the Secret Service and other department divisions were stonewalling it on requests for records and texts surrounding the attack on the Capitol, but did not do so, the people briefed on the matter said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal investigations.

The previously unreported revelation about the inspector general’s months-long delay in flagging the now-vanished Secret Service texts came from two whistleblowers who have worked with Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari, the people knowledgeable about the internal discussions said.

A senior Secret Service official said agency employees received two emails — at least one prior to Jan. 6, 2021 — reminding them to preserve records on their cellphones, including text messages, before their devices were essentially “restored to factory settings” and texts were lost as part of a planned reset and replacement program across the agency.

The senior official said employees received a third email on Feb. 4, 2021, instructing them to preserve all communications specific to Jan. 6. At that point, several Congressional committees had asked for Secret Service communications from the day of the insurrection on the Capitol.

The missing texts could provide a more detailed road map for Trump’s actions and plans surrounding Jan. 6.

They could also corroborate or discount White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony to the committee, in which she said a senior Secret Service official told her on Jan. 6 that Trump had lunged in anger at the agent who led his security detail after he was told that he could not join his supporters on their march to the Capitol.

Hutchinson testified that the official — Tony Ornato, then temporarily working as White House deputy chief of staff — told her that Trump had also lunged for the steering wheel of the Suburban in which he was traveling. Ornato has denied telling Hutchinson this, according to a Secret Service spokesman, and Trump’s former detail leader, Bobby Engel, has claimed that no such physical altercation took place.

The January 6 House select committee is expected to make the case at its hearing on Thursday that Donald Trump potentially violated the law when he refused entreaties to take action to stop the 2021 attack on the US Capitol by a mass of his supporters, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Meet the key players who have defined the January 6 hearings

The panel will demonstrate that the former Republican president was “derelict in his duty” to protect the US Congress and might have also broken the federal law that prohibits obstructing an official proceeding before Congress, which had gathered to certify Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Trump could have called on national guard troops to restore order when he saw on TV the melee unfolding at the Capitol, the panel is expected to argue, or he could have called off the rioters via a live broadcast from the White House press briefing room, but he did not. Or he could have sent a tweet trying to stop the violence far earlier than he actually did, during the 187-minute duration of the Capitol attack.

The former president instead only reluctantly posted a tweet in the afternoon of January 6, hours after his top advisors at the White House and Republicans allies in Congress repeatedly implored him to intervene, the select committee will show.

And the panel is expected to reinforce that Trump’s inaction directly contributed to the extended battle between the US Capitol police and rioters, who outnumbered them, since many rioters dispersed after he tweeted the now-infamous video asking them to leave the Capitol.

The sources described what the select committee sees as potential legal culpability for the former president, speaking on the condition of anonymity ahead of the prime time hearing.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Attorney General Merrick Garland has rebuffed speculation over the Department of Justice's perceived inaction over the January 6 investigation.

During a meeting with the DOJ on Wednesday, Garland said there was "a lot of speculation" over what the department is or isn't doing, and the theories it is working on.

He noted that such speculation is likely to continue because a "central tenet" of the DOJ's process is that "we do not do our investigations in public."

"This is the most wide-ranging investigation and the most important investigation that the Justice Department has ever entered into," Garland said. "And we have done so because this represents this effort to upend a legitimate election, transferring power from one administration to another. It cuts at the fundamentals of American democracy."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Matthew Pottinger was a journalist in China, concerned about the country's drift toward authoritarianism, when he decided — at age 31 — to enlist in the U.S. Marines after the invasion of Iraq.

“Our form of government is not inevitable," Pottinger recalled thinking during an interview two years ago with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. "And it shouldn’t be taken for granted. But it’s a form of government very much worth fighting for.”

Pottinger had no way of knowing when he put on his military uniform for the first time how close to home that battle for democracy would get. He became deputy national security adviser to President Donald Trump, and he resigned after the Jan. 6 attack that tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power to President Joe Biden.

On Thursday, he'll be one of the key witnesses at a prime-time hearing of the select House committee investigating the attack. The other is Sarah Matthews, who resigned from her position as a deputy press secretary the same day.

Pottinger and Matthews will join Cassidy Hutchinson, a former assistant to Mark Meadows, Trump's final chief of staff, in the exclusive club of Trump White House insiders who have appeared publicly. Their appearances stand in blunt contrast to the cadre of Trump loyalists who have tried to defy the committee’s subpoenas, remained silent or continued to dismiss the investigation’s findings.

The Guardian has learned, according to a person directly familiar with the matter, that in a previously unreported incident, the fracas about going to the Capitol, after Trump told his supporters at the rally to go to Congress and “I’ll be there with you”, continued when he arrived back at the White House, and the argument spilled into the West Wing driveway.

Pottinger and Matthews are expected to testify about what happened when Trump was back at the White House, including details on Trump in his dining room off the Oval Office, where he watched the Capitol attack erupt on TV, transfixed by the images as rioters overran police and rampaged through the halls of Congress, the sources said.

The select committee will show through videotaped testimony from the Trump White House counsel, Pat Cipollone, and other aides, that the former president ignored repeated entreaties from advisers to help stop the Capitol attack, the sources said.

Hutchinson previously testified that she tried to get Trump’s White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, to lobby Trump – only for him to tell her that the former president “wanted to be left alone”.

Previously, Republicans were just oh so frequently upset becuause the courts were "legislating" rather than simply interpreting the Constitution.

Meanwhile, the wills of the majority of our people are being ignored by the Supreme Court as to what THEY want as that Court blithely legislates decisions designed to affect American life perversely and UNdemocratically for decades.

It's not just the court losses:

Poll: Biden’s Approval Rating Just Hit Another Record Low

An NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll out Wednesday noted a record low approval rating for President Joe Biden at just 36 percent approval, his lowest since taking office, with support from independents especially dissipating. A full 58 percent of registered voters disapprove of the president’s job, with 44 percent strongly disapproving.

Nearly half of registered independent voters — 46 percent to be exact — say they “strongly disapprove” of the job Biden is doing, combined with 19 percent who simply said they “disapprove” of his performance for a total disapproval rating of more than 65 percent from independents. That’s a huge shift from a year ago when nearly half of independents approved of Biden. Now, only 28 percent approve.

Biden’s 36 percent approval rating from voters overall reflects a 4 percent slip since the end of June. With only 12 percent of voters saying they “strongly approve” of the job he is doing, almost four times that number “strongly disapprove,” at 44 percent.

Guess who?

In early 2021 there was an intense debate among economists about the likely consequences of the American Rescue Plan, the $1.9 trillion package enacted by a new Democratic president and a (barely) Democratic Congress. Some warned that the package would be dangerously inflationary; others were fairly relaxed. I was Team Relaxed. As it turned out, of course, that was a very bad call.

But what, exactly, did I get wrong? Both the initial debate and the way things have played out were more complicated than I suspect most people realize.

You see, this wasn’t a debate between opposing economic ideologies. Just about all the prominent players, from Larry Summers to Dean Baker, were Keynesian economists, with more or less center-left political leanings. And we all had similar views, at least in a qualitative sense, about how economic policy works. Everyone in the debate agreed that deficit spending would stimulate demand; everyone agreed that a stronger economy with a lower unemployment rate would, other things equal, have a higher inflation rate.

What we had instead was an argument about magnitudes. The rescue plan was huge in dollar terms, and as Team Inflation warned, if it had a normal-size “multiplier” (the increase in gross domestic product caused by a dollar of additional government spending) it would lead to a highly overheated economy — that is, to a temporary surge in employment and gross domestic product far above their sustainable levels, and hence high inflation.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Those of us on Team Relaxed argued, however, that the structure of the plan would lead to a much smaller surge in G.D.P. than the headline number would suggest. A big piece of the plan was one-time checks to taxpayers, which we argued would be largely saved rather than spent; another big piece was aid to state and local governments, which we thought would be spent only gradually, over several years.

We also argued that if there were a temporary overshoot on G.D.P. and employment it wouldn’t sharply increase inflation, because historical experience suggested that the relationship between employment and inflation was fairly flat — that is, that it would take a lot of overheating to produce a big inflation surge.

So here’s the odd thing: The multiplier on the rescue plan does, in fact, seem to have been relatively low. A lot of consumers saved those checks; state and local government spending rose by less than one percent of G.D.P. Employment is still below its prepandemic level, and real G.D.P., while it has recovered to roughly its prepandemic trend, hasn’t shot above it.

Yet inflation soared anyway. Why?

Much, although not all, of the inflation surge seems to reflect disruptions associated with the pandemic. Fear of infection and changes in the way we live caused big shifts in the mix of spending: People spent less money on services and more on goods, leading to shortages of shipping containers, overstressed port capacity, and so on. These disruptions help explain why inflation rose in many countries, not just in the United States.

In any case, the whole experience has been a lesson in humility. In the 1960s, Friedman declared that inflation is ‘always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon’ — a problem of printing too much money. Since then, whenever inflation rears its head, you can count on someone to reanimate Friedman’s ghost and blame the government for spending too much.

January 6 Committee Calls Bluff of Key Witness
July 21, 2022 at 11:16 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

The January 6 Committee subpoena of Phil Waldron, the retired colonel who was working with Donald Trump’s outside lawyers to overturn the 2020 presidential election, seeks some interesting information:

*“All documents supporting the claim that Italian satellites were used to hack voting systems…”

*“All documents supporting the claim that voting machines were manipulated through the use of smart thermostats controlled by the Chinese government…”

The January 6 Committee's eighth primetime hearing on Thursday will zero in on President Donald Trump's actions— and refusal to act — during the 187 minutes that his supporters violently breached the US Capitol before he recorded a video urging them to "go home."

Details of how the riots played out from within the White House are fuzzy due to the White House's shoddy record-keeping practices and the absence of Trump's then-executive assistant Molly Michael on January 6. But the Committee is seeking to fill in the gaps with records and testimony from then-White House aides.

Two former White House officials, deputy national security adviser Matthew Pottinger and deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews, will testify publicly. The panel will also feature clips of closed-door testimony from other aides.

White House phone records obtained by the Committee and reported on by the Washington Post and CBS also provide a detailed accounting of Trump's many phone calls to aides, lawyers, and members of Congress before and after the riots.

C.H. Truth said...

The Federal Records Act of 1950 outlines rules for employees of federal agencies on what information qualifies as a federal record and which ones are to be collected, retained, destroyed, or permanently archived.

Where have I heard about this before?

What sort of charges did she face for the multiple times she openly flaunted of those laws?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

But the phone records contain a nearly seven-hour gap between 11:17 a.m. and 6:54 p.m., a crucial period of time during which Trump spoke at a rally urging attendees to protest the certification of electoral votes, pressured Vice President Mike Pence, and watched the siege on the Capitol unfold on television from his private dining room off the Oval Office, according to aides.

Here's a timeline of what we know about Trump's actions as the riot unfolded, according to the White House daily diary from January 6 and the Trump Twitter Archive:

11:38 a.m.: Trump goes to the South Grounds of the White House.

11:39 a.m. to 11:41 a.m.: Trump travels to the Ellipse in his motorcade.

11:55 a.m.: Trump takes the stage at the "Save America Rally."

12:oo p.m. to 1:12 p.m.: Trump speaks at the rally, where he repeats his lies about the 2020 election being stolen and urges his supporters to "fight like hell."

1:19 p.m.: Trump returns to the White House from the Ellipse.

1:21 p.m.: Trump meets with his valet.

2:24 p.m.: After rioters breach the Capitol, Trump tweets: "Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!"

2:38 p.m.: Trump tweets: "Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!"

3:13 p.m.: Trump tweets: "I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!"

4:03 p.m.: Trump goes to the Rose Garden to film a video message again repeating his lies that the election was "stolen" and urging his supporters to "go home" saying, "we love you, you're very special.

4:07 p.m.: Trump returns to the Oval Office.

4:17 p.m.: Trump tweets out his video. Twitter subsequently takes down the video.

6:01 p.m.: Trump tweets: "These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!"'

6:27 p.m.: Trump goes to the second-floor residence.

Dereliction of duty and Imo manslaughter

It was James Comey who went up in front of America during the 2016 election and made the "call" that they were not going to charge Clinton with any crimes.

If you recall, Comey had admitted that laws were broken and that Clinton was "extremely careless" but that they did not have evidence of the "criminal intent" necessary to charge her with a crime.

Many people were upset that this came out of the blue from Comey (not Lynch who was the AG at the time). It was a cop out from the Obama administration to not make the call at the top (where is should have been made).

Comey then publically "reopened" the investigation and then "reclosed it again" causing even more controversy...

I guess you don't recall this in spite of being way smarter and way more informed than any of us can possibly imagine?

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) “has become a focus of an anti-abortion group, as well as a fellow Republican lawmaker, following a speech where she advocated for rape and incest exemptions to a proposed abortion ban making its way through the state legislature,” Newsweek reports.

Said Mace, referring to her own rape at age 16: “Rape is not a partisan issue. A rapist is not a father. And I hope and pray any women or teenager who is raped or assaulted or a victim of incest would choose life. But I’m not going to take that decision away from anybody else. You have no idea what a woman or child goes through who is a victim of rape or incest.”

No, mRNA Covid vaccines do not offer long-term protection from serious illness

Data from the Dutch government show the opposite - after seven months they substantially RAISE the risk of hospitalization and intensive care

mRNA vaccine advocates have one final defense against the failure of their billion-person experiment.

Okay, the shots won’t stop you from getting Covid. Or spreading it. Or having symptoms.

But they will stop you from getting very sick, and that protection lasts long after they stop working against infection.

Only it doesn’t.

Not against Omicron, anyway. And Omicron is only variant that matters now, since it’s the only variant that exists now.

An official government report from the Netherlands earlier this month has the truth.

On July 5, the RIVM - a research institute that is part of the Dutch Ministry of Health - reported a basic two-dose Covid vaccination offered no protection against Covid hospitalization. Worse, vaccinated people were 20 percent more likely to need intensive care than the unvaccinated.

“There was hardly any visible protective effect of the COVID-19 basic vaccination series against hospital and ICU - intensive care- intake,” the researchers wrote (understating the case).

The topline figures are bad enough.

The report is based on hospitalizations across the Netherlands from March 15 through June 28, not a small sample. And like the United States, the Dutch relied overwhelmingly on mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna - the supposed gold standard for Covid shots.

But the details in the report are even more disturbing.

The researchers stratified the risks of hospitalization and intensive care by time from vaccination and the age of the infected person - and those show that the risks increase over time.

After seven months, vaccinated people in their fifties and sixties had a 68 percent higher risk of being hospitalized for Covid compared to the unvaccinated. They had a 41 percent higher risk of needing intensive care.

The trends were similar for people 70 and over, though most of them had been boosted or received a fourth shot, so comparisons were harder to make.

(Negative vaccine effectiveness, it’s a thing. A very bad thing.)

More than 850 people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Congress, which left at least five people dead and 140 police officers injured.

The 76-year-old Trump, who has repeatedly hinted that he may run for the White House again in 2024, was impeached for a historic second time by the House after the Capitol riot -- he was charged with inciting an insurrection -- but was acquitted by the Senate.

The House committee is expected to submit a report to Congress this fall with its findings.

The committee may issue criminal referrals to the Justice Department, leaving it up to Attorney General Merrick Garland to decide whether Trump or others should be prosecuted for the attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Garland told reporters on Wednesday that the January 6 probe is the "most important" investigation the Justice Department has ever conducted and stressed that "no one is above the law in this country.

More hearings are expected later this year. Mr. Trump has said he did nothing wrong and has called the Jan. 6 committee a partisan witch hunt. He continues to claim falsely that the 2020 election was stolen from him, even though his campaign and his allies lost dozens of lawsuits around the country challenging the 2020 results. The Justice Department said there were no signs of widespread fraud, and a bipartisan consortium of local, state and federal election officials declared the 2020 race the most secure U.S. election in history.

Why Trump Wins More Loyalty Than Biden
July 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 32 Comments

John Harris: “Conservatives generally have low demands and low expectations of government. There are some non-negotiable items that GOP leaders must accommodate — business supporters demand low regulation and social activists demand opposition to legal abortion. But, especially in the Trump era, what partisans want most of all is a leader who gives voice to the contempt they feel toward liberals, the media and assorted cultural elites. This is a bar Trump easily cleared.”

“Progressives, by contrast, have high demands for activist government. There is a long roster of specific items that they want enacted, expanding government’s role in health care, education, income equality and transitioning to a low-carbon energy future. This is a bar that Biden cannot easily clear, especially without robust Democratic majorities in Congress.”

“This touches on something about progressives that goes even deeper: They may just be wired differently, in ways that don’t correlate to uncritical support of party leaders.”

A majority (57%) said Trump is to blame a great deal or a good amount for the Capitol riot, including 92% of Democrats and 57% of independents, but just 18% of Republicans. The 57% overall figure is up slightly — and within the 4.1 percentage-point margin of error — from last December (53%).

Half of respondents said they think Trump should be charged with a crime, including 9 in 10 Democrats but only 10% of Republicans. Independents are split, 49% to 46%.

Six in 10 respondents said they don't think Trump will face any charges.

There has been only some, if any, movement in people's views of what happened at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Half called it an insurrection and a threat to democracy, statistically unchanged from December.

A quarter, including 40% of Republicans, described it as an unfortunate event, but one in the past, so no need to worry about it anymore.

About 1 in 5, including another 40% of Republicans, said it was a political protest protected under the First Amendment.

Notably, a majority of independents (52%) now say it was an insurrection and a threat to democracy, up 9 points from December.

Only 20% agree with you on this insurrection.
