hundreds of thousands of idiots!

Liberal cancel culture is starting to get serious push back....  oh and Clarence Thomas is not going anywhere!

It's sad and more than a little pathetic that there are liberal children growing up being taught by their liberal parents that they are never responsible for anything and if they ever feel uncomfortable or upset by something, that they should work to remove it. They don't like some USSC rulings? Well get rid of the court or at least the people who upset them with their opinions. Most certainly get rid of that pesky constitution that doesn't account for their feelings of superiority and their demands that their beliefs are better treated. Screw the idea of freedom, rights, due process, and equal protection. Some people (liberals) are more equal than others (conservatives). Or at least that is what most liberals will tell you.

Now while this has had a negative impact on society as a whole it will end up having the most negative impact with these liberal children when they cannot get their way by throwing tantrums in most normal adult situations. Pull this sort of "my boss is a racist fire him" nonsense at their actual job (like they do with teachers or conservative speakers) and they will likely find themselves out the door in a quick hurry. Why are so many kids these days still living at home and on their parents insurance into their mid twenties?

Well the real world is scary. Or as a wise women likes to say... adulting is hard.

Certainly people in the academia believe they can control their workplace political environments and have had success living in their little bubbles. But that stuff doesn't go over well in situations where these companies answer to an owner, board of directors, or shareholders. You know, where they have to make money and not have the day to day operations paid for by Government grants, tax dollars, and donations. When they go to work in a real job they need to get along and do their job. Anything less than doing their job will see them tossed out on their asses. Then they can go back to their college professor and complain about capitalism over a decaf soy latte with a pinch of cinnamon before they go back to their parent's basement and mooch.

Sad that children in America have to grow up learning that Mitch McConnell cheated in the way he violated all reasonable practice and packed the court with conservative judges regardless of who was president or how much time was left before the next election.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

McConnell is "a partisan actor who knows only how to justify what's politically expedient for him at a given time."

"Mitch McConnell is the dark lord," Harvard Law professor Lawrence Lessig told Fox News. "The framers of our Constitution thought we needed to fear one thing more than everything, and that was partisanship. And Mitch McConnell believes there's one thing we should promote more than anything, and that is partisanship."

Unprincipled, he aims at a Trumpian styled wouuld-be one party dictatorship.

What is so sick about warning children of the dangers to our democracy by politicians practicing unprincipled applications of partisanship?

Many commentators have pointed out that what McConnell did is, like much that Trump has done, indefensible.

As the Harvard law professor pointed out, it's McConnell's indefensible partisanship that is the danger, not my principled partisansip based on my respect for democracy.

Just about a year ago he warned us about himself!

Justice Clarence Thomas on Thursday, during rare public remarks at the University of Notre Dame, warned against politicizing the Supreme Court.

Driving the news: Thomas, the court's longest-serving member, said that the justices do not rule based on "personal preferences" and that politicians should not "allow others to manipulate our institutions when we don’t get the outcome that we like," per the Washington Post.

Thomas, 73, also criticized some of his colleagues, without naming names, for veering into the role of politicians, saying that "[w]hen we begin to venture into the legislative or executive branch lanes, those of us, particularly in the federal judiciary with lifetime appointments, are asking for trouble.""The court was thought to be the least dangerous branch and we may have become the most dangerous," he added.

What he's saying: "It is not about winning or losing at the court, it is about the entire country and the idea of this country," Thomas said.

"I think we should be careful destroying our institutions because they don't give us what we want, when we want it."

The big picture: Thomas is the latest justice to talk publicly about the Supreme Court before its new term.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a conservative appointed by former President Trump, said earlier this week that the court "is not comprised of a bunch of partisan hacks" and that "judicial philosophies are not the same as political parties."Justice Stephen Breyer, who has been promoting a book, warned against expanding the court, saying Democrats "better be pretty careful about it because two can play at that game."

My deleted reply:
What is so sick about my desire to teach our children the dangers of allowing politicians to endanger our democracy with practices of unprincipled partisanship?

As I and the Harvard lawyer and many others have pointed out, McConnell's unprincipled partisanship endangers the kind of government envisioned by our founders -- government of, by, and for the people, not of, by, and for one dictatorial political party dominated by Republicans subservient to Wall Street and the financial interests of the ultra wealthy.

C.H. Truth said...

Just about a year ago he warned us about himself!

So Roger...

When the USSC shoots down a previous court that created legislation and put it back to the States (and the voters) as to how something should be handled...

and got rid of the idea that an unelected "agency" should not be allowed to make policy that otherwise would require a "law" to be passed which of course is passed by legislation (and ultimately controlled by the voters)...

You see a pattern.

Let the voters and the legislation decide these issues...

Somehow in the twisted logic of the left... making these liberal ideals subject to the ACTUAL will of the people... is akin to the courts legislating?

Is that really your argument Roger?

Please explain?

Arizona's capital has called off three of its major Independence Day, citing supply chain issues, and the city of Flagstaff is replacing its fireworks with a laser show.

Overseas shipping, transportation in the U.S., rising insurance costs and labor shortages have led to the canceled displays, along with demand for fireworks shows at concerts, sports stadiums and the Fourth of July holiday that largely were absent during the first two years of the pandemic, Heckman said.

"The demand is so high that it's almost like a perfect storm," said Julie Heckman, executive director of the American Pyrotechnics Association, adding that not having enough crew to work the shows or rental trucks to transport materials has added to the crunch.

“He never quit giving back,” said Manchin. That included raising money for gold star families — immediate family members of fallen service members — with an annual motorcycle ride.

“It's raised hundreds of thousands of dollars," Manchin said. He joked that "It’s not going to be stopping, because Woody would come after me in a heartbeat."

Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, said he will miss Williams’ phone calls, noting how Williams would always give him directions and to-do lists.

Governance is always about overreaction and never about precise remedy.  In response to the vast economic aggregation during the late 19th-century industrial boom, progressivism delivered not only curbs on corporate monopoly power, but also the creation of a vast administrative bureaucracy with unchecked powers of its own.  In response to unjust Jim Crow laws, the Supreme Court acquired unjust super-legislative powers.  In response to air and water pollution, President Nixon created an Environmental Protection Agency whose power has grown to stifle American industry and threaten private property.  In response to a perceived health insurance crisis, Obamacare's socialized medicine has only exacerbated the cost of healthcare while giving the government a peek at Americans' private medical records.  Every time government identifies a problem, its answer is to expand its own inherent powers and complicate matters further.

Historically, Congress's budgetary "power of the purse" empowered the "people's representatives" to restrict Executive overreach and the natural human proclivity to harness unchecked power.  The quickest way to arrest illegitimate government power, in other words, was to stop paying for it.

New Insights Into Trump’s State of Mind on January 6
July 3, 2022 at 8:21 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 32 Comments

“He was not speaking metaphorically. It was not an offhand comment. President Donald Trump had every intention of joining a mob of supporters he knew to be armed and dangerous as it marched to the Capitol. And there had even been talk of marching into the House chamber himself to disrupt Congress from ratifying his election defeat,”
the New York Times reports.

“For a year and a half, Mr. Trump has been shielded by obfuscations and mischaracterizations, benefiting from uncertainty about what he was thinking on Jan. 6, 2021. If he truly believed the election had been stolen, if he genuinely expected the gathering at the Capitol would be a peaceful protest, the argument went, then could he be held accountable, much less indicted, for the mayhem that ensued?

“But for a man who famously avoids leaving emails or other trails of evidence of his unspoken motives, any doubts about what was really going through Mr. Trump’s mind on that day of violence seemed to have been eviscerated by testimony presented in recent weeks by the House committee investigating the Capitol attack — especially the dramatic appearance last week of a 26-year-old former White House aide who offered a chilling portrait of a president willing to do almost anything to hang onto power.”

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) acknowledged the possibility of a presidential run in 2024 in an interview with ABC News, but said she hasn’t “made a decision about that yet.”

Playbook:
“You would expect last week to have been dominated by President Joe Biden. The Supreme Court set back the liberal policy agenda by decades — on abortion, gun control, the separation of church and state and climate change — while the Jan. 6 committee presented its most compelling evidence that Donald Trump may be criminally responsible for the attack on the Capitol.

“But it was Cheney rather than Biden who emerged as the face of the opposition to Trumpism.”

Together, “originalism” and “strict construction” reflect an effort to invoke the Constitution to tether the country to the past. Both have been used to roll back democratic advances such as the Voting Rights Act and campaign finance reforms as well as regulatory achievements on the environment and labor rights that in many cases date back a century or more. Now, we are torn asunder about guns, abortion and saving our planet.

This, then, is the argument that confronts us this July Fourth. It’s a familiar battle from a history in which slavery’s advocates and opponents alike claimed that the Constitution and the Founders support their respective outlooks.

For those on the progressive side who feel they are on the losing end of today’s conflicts, our national birthday this year can be an occasion to remember those who came before them and never gave up on King’s vision of bending the arc of our story toward justice.

“One can be a critic of one’s country,” the great social thinker Daniel Bell wrote, “without being an enemy of its promise.” On this July Fourth, that promise is still worth celebrating — and fighting for.
