Although stragely enough Obama got mentioned here, read the whole article and see what happened with the papers of Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes, and other REPUBLICAN presidents.
And by the way, ground was not even broken on the Obama presidential library until late Sept. of 2021.
Well Reverend...
I guess if both Democrats and Republicans have not been forthright in turning over all of their Presidential or Senate papers in a timely fashion and issues back and forth with the National Archives...
Doesn't that make it all the "more" strange and unprecedented that the FBI would go "raid" Trump's house, going through his personal safe, his office, and even Melania's wardrobe? I mean 30 agents with guns charging in for something that every President and most politicians could be accused of doing?
Not sure what your point here is exactly?
Other than proving mine?
I thought it had something to do with Trump taking classified papers he shouldn't have taken and either
a) refusing to return them or
b) even keeping them hiddn.
Something like that.
Politico says that Scott Perry appears to be part of a different probe:
“Scott Perry, who said this week that the FBI had seized his cell phone, has publicly tied the agency’s actions to its search of Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago. [But t]here’s no evidence the two are directly connected — and more details suggest they’re part of two separate investigations.
“The FBI’s handling of the Pennsylvania Republican represents a rare step against a sitting member of Congress. But the seizure follows months of growing evidence of Perry’s deep involvement in Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election — just as investigators are taking more overt steps to investigate Trump allies’ efforts to deploy the Justice Department in service of disrupting the transition of power.”
"to deploy" = "to use"
Reverend...
Again... every President you mentioned has taken documents when they left office. 30 million pages is what Obama took. Trump had turned over boxes and boxes and at issue was supposedly about 15 boxes that someone claimed to be there.
Of course given they were searching Melania's underwear drawer and opening up a private safe... could they not find what they were looking for?
The National Archives is supposed to work with Presidents to get back what they believe should be part of the Presidential (not personal) records. Obama still has not turned over requested documents and has been out of office for five years.
Nobody raided his home?
You NEED to stop assuming everything the FBI is doing is on the up and up. The Russian collusion probe alone proves that they are willing to go to any lengths (including ignoring their own analysts) to justify warrants against Trump and his associates. They literally got FISA warrants to monitor his campaign "using information" that they were told by their own analyst was fake.
In other words, they brought information they knew was fake to a Judge to get a warrant to spy on members of Trump's campaign. They basically lied to a judge.
They sent undercover agents to solicit George Papadopoulos (admittedly) and then charged him with "misleading" them when he suggested he was not working for Trump at the time the undercover person (posing as Putin's niece) tried to lure him in (when he wasn't).
But you just assume that there must be a good reason (not the same old reasons that the FBI has used to go after Trump in the past). Apparently you expect everyone else to have your same faith.
