[N]o official explanation or information has been released about the search. As of the filing of this motion, the public record consists solely of speculation and inuendo. In short, the historical presumption of access to warrant materials vastly outweighs any interest the government may have in keeping the materials under seal.
Given the political context, and the highly unusual action of executing a search warrant at the residence of a former President and likely future political opponent, it is essential that the public understands as soon as possible the basis for the government’s action. Any government interest in securing the identities of witnesses and confidential sources, if any, may be addressed by appropriate redactions from the search warrant affidavit.
Reality here folks is I have read articles from the Guardian, from Bloomberg, from numerous liberal media sites, all in lock step agreement that the public is owed an explanation. I am quite certain that the Biden team believed that the liberal press would go the other way, anxiously demanding that the search warrant was more proof of Trump guilt. But that card can only be played so many times before people get wise. As it stands only the most drooling knuckle dragging Trump hating partisans are backing the Administration and playing that game.
This was a mistake of a colossal nature. There are straws that break a camel's back and this appears to be that straw for many many people. They better end up with more than the "classified" materials sort of deal that they refused to charge Clinton with and have not bothered to check with other Presidents holding on to information. Apparently the National Archives has more information from Trump than they do from Obama who was there twice as long and has been out of office for nearly six years.
