Only 50 Capital protesters believed they were there for an insurrection?

Most were there to support Trump or to protest what they felt was a corrupt election result
The third most common reason for attacking the Capitol: a desire to start a civil war or an armed revolution, according to the study. Almost 8 percent of defendants indicated it was their main motivation.

The QAnon conspiracy theory was one of the lesser motives, the study found, only motivating 4.1 percent of defendants to storm the Capitol.

Apparently the people conducting the study "actually" believed the media hoax that this was a plot to overthrow the government?

In an interview, Fagan said she was surprised by how frequently support for Trump and concerns about the election were cited as primary motivations for joining the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. “I don’t think I expected the result to be this stark,” Fagan said. “I also certainly didn’t expect those two motivations to come up nearly exactly as often as they both did.”
Fagan said she initially thought QAnon would play a larger role in motivating people to participate in the Jan. 6 attack.

To to be clear. Most people on the left are probably just as stupid as these people who conducted the study. Most of these people discount polling that states a majority of Americans believe that fraud played a major role in the 2020 election or just pretend the polling doesn't exist. They apparently believe that somehow, deep down, only a small portion of Americans disagreed with their flawed view that this was a "secure election" to the point of being the "most secure ever".

So they act surprised (or possibly are surprised) at how few people actually fit in with the narrative that they have helped drive. In fact, you can argue that about 88% of those who were "charged" with storming the capital that day had nothing to do with wanting an insurrection or were drawn by QAnon. But you were to listen to the liberal idiots in the media explain it (in their feeble minds) they seem to believe that at least 88% were there because they wanted an insurrection and were drawn in by QAnon. This also does not reflect the tens of thousands of peaceful protesters who never marched to the capitol or did not participate in the storming of the building.

So if you really really do the math, here is what you would find. This was a study of the 417 people charged with a federal crime in the DC court. By simple math, this leaves us with 50 people who were there to actually commit the crime that hundreds (if not thousands) are falsely being accused of.

That QAnon inspired insurrection to overthrow the government did not include a mob of hundreds or thousands. There was a few dozen there to cause problems and they were followed by completely unarmed and peaceful people there who held legitimate belief that they were protesting a fraudulent election.

The sad thing is that the Biden Administration and their legal thugs don't really care about the difference. These people are political protesters who protested against Biden and need to be taught a legal lesson for their free speech. You find the historical comparisons if you dare!

The fact is that this was a specific study of those who were "charged" - meaning it does not include those who never entered the capital or otherwise were not involved in any lawbreaking.

What if found that between those who there to "overthrow the government" or were motivated by "QAnon" - it was only 50 out of the 400+ that were charged by the DC court.

Local law enforcement believed there were as many as 80,000 people all in all surrounding the Capital on Jan 6th - other estimates have been more in the 60,000 range.

Out of those, only about 800 have been arrested, 417 were prosecuted and interviewed for this story... and of those only 50 fit the description given to everyone.

It's called Gaslighting Denny!

And in New York

The attorney general, Letitia James, has argued in court papers that “fraudulent or misleading” business practices reigned at the Trump Organization for years, and has said her investigators must question the Trumps to determine who was responsible. Mr. Trump fought hard to avoid an interview, but a judge ordered him to face questioning, and investigators will seek to elicit answers that might reveal whether he approved any bogus valuations of his hotels, golf clubs and other assets.

Even a single misstep in the deposition could be costly for Mr. Trump, who is also the focus of a separate criminal investigation into the same issues. Although that investigation by the Manhattan district attorney’s office lost momentum early this year, prosecutors are planning to review Mr. Trump’s answers and any incriminating statements or clumsy comments could breathe new life into it.

Mr. Trump has derided Ms. James’s inquiry as a politically-motivated “witch hunt” and denied all wrongdoing.

The former president, who is no stranger to being deposed, will present unusual challenges and opportunities for Ms. James’s lawyers, according to accounts from people who have questioned him under oath in the past and a review of nearly a dozen depositions.

I notice that Ch wants to appear to be oblivious to the fact that the chief instigator of this attempted coup was Trump himself, even though he had been told by advisor after advisor and court after court that he had no case at all. No legal recourse to question the election. None. None at all even by the futherest stretch of the imagination.

Especially clear was the night in the White House when it became obvious that all the cockamamie theories were nothing more than that: zany, sappy, goofy, wacky, unreasonable theories devoid of the least semblace of evidence or substance.

So who should bear the chief blame for Trump's totally misguided attempt to deny a legitimate constitutional decision of the American people to choose Biden, not Trump, as their next President?

One person mainly.
Trump.
The "Commander in Chief" who had sworn to defend and uphold the Constitution, not attempt to subvert it.

He knew better, but he had learned he could lie and lie and lie and get away with it so many times that he thought he could pull it off one more time again.

Nope.

Didn't work out.

And so he should bear the major brunt of the punishment.

WHY DOESN'T CH RESPOND TO THIS?

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

James, if the current Republican Party wins 🏆 our country will not survive.

The Republican party of today has a new attitude towards the power of government. The Reaganites who used to dominate the party mostly saw government as the problem: if only it could be cut back or eliminated entirely, free markets would deliver everything America needed. But a new report on plans being developed for Donald Trump’s possible return to the White House shows just how much this has changed. Rather than sidelining or eliminating federal agencies, Republicans now want to do something much more disturbing: seize effective control of them in order to persecute their enemies and implement a radical agenda.

This summer may be one of the most consequential in US democracy

At the core of the new plan, as reported by Axios, is the intention to strip away employment protections from thousands of senior civil servants, eliminating at a stroke a large chunk of the civil service’s expertise and institutional memory. This would allow them to be replaced with a “cadre” loyal to Trump’s America First agenda, most of them likely to be 20- and 30-somethings with no experience in government who would owe their newfound prominence to Trump alone. Ideologically zealous and loyal to a fault, they would set about trying to reshape the government in Trump’s image.

The Department of Justice would be the second Gestapo 👌

Former President Trump’s top allies are preparing to radically reshape the federal government if he is re-elected, purging potentially thousands of civil servants and filling career posts with loyalists to him and his "America First” ideology, people involved in the discussions tell Axios.

The impact could go well beyond typical conservative targets such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Internal Revenue Service. Trump allies are working on plans that would potentially strip layers at the Justice Department — including the FBI, and reaching into national security, intelligence, the State Department and the Pentagon, sources close to the former president say.

During his presidency, Trump often complained about what he called “the deep state.”

The heart of the plan is derived from an executive order known as “Schedule F,” developed and refined in secret over most of the second half of Trump’s term and launched 13 days before the 2020 election.

The reporting for this series draws on extensive interviews over a period of more than three months with more than two dozen people close to the former president, and others who have firsthand knowledge of the work underway to prepare for a potential second term. Most spoke on condition of anonymity to describe sensitive planning and avoid Trump’s ire

Mark Robinson, a retired Washington, D.C. police officer, was part of then-President Donald Trump’s motorcade in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021. During a Monday, August 1 appearance on CNN, Robinson recalled Trump’s actions that day — saying that Trump was “upset” that he was unable to join his supporters when they marched from the Ellipse to the U.S. Capitol Building.

Robinson told CNN host Don Lemon, “We’ve heard it several times while it was on the motorcade. I think during the speech, shortly thereafter, he had finished the speech, that the president was getting into the motorcade and he was upset. And he adamantly wanted to go to the Capitol. And even when we departed from the Ellipse, it was repeated again.... It was a heated argument in the limo. And he wanted to definitely go to the Capitol.”

HuffPost reporter Marita Vlachou, in an article published on August 2, notes that Robinson’s comments on CNN “appear to be consistent with White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony that Trump got into a physical altercation with his Secret Service detail on January 6, and tried to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limousine in the hope of driving to the Capitol.”

Tax Credit Extension

The revival of the $7,500 tax credit is a big deal, especially for Tesla, General Motors and Toyota. All three have sold at least 200,000 vehicles that were eligible for the incentive as the system is set up now. Once manufacturers cross that threshold, buyers of their cars start to receive reduced credits, and eventually none at all. Ford and Nissan are nearing this point, as well.

The bill would make the full incentive available again starting next year, and importantly, would allow consumers to access the perk at the point of sale instead of during tax season.

The GDP would grow up

The acknowledgment that the phones from the Pentagon officials had been wiped was first revealed in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit American Oversight brought against the Defense Department and the Army. The watchdog group is seeking January 6 records from former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, former chief of staff Kash Patel, and former Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy, among other prominent Pentagon officials – having filed initial FOIA requests just a few days after the Capitol attack.

Miller, Patel and McCarthy have all been viewed as crucial witnesses for understanding government’s response to the January 6 Capitol assault and former President Donald Trump’s reaction to the breach. All three were involved in the Defense Department’s response to sending National Guard troops to the US Capitol as the riot was unfolding. There is no suggestion that the officials themselves erased the records.

The government’s assertion in the filings that the officials’ text messages from that day were not preserved is the latest blow to the efforts to bring transparency to the events of January 6. It comes as the Department of Homeland Security is also under fire for the apparent loss of messages from the Secret Service that day.

Miller declined to comment. Patel and McCarthy did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Defense Department did not immediately respond to CNN’s request. The US Army Public Affairs media relations chief, Col. Cathy Wilkinson, said in a statement that, “It is our policy not to comment on ongoing litigation.”

Job openings plunged to 10.7 million in June, landing below the estimate for 11 million openings. The drop is the largest since the pandemic started and signals the labor shortage is reversing.Quits also slid for a third straight month, adding to signs that the labor market is normalizing.

The labor market is badly out of wack. New data suggests it might not be that way much longer.

Job openings tumbled to 10.7 million from 11.3 million in June, according to Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or JOLTS, data published Tuesday morning. That landed below the median estimate of 11 million openings from economists surveyed by Bloomberg. It also marked the lowest count since September and the largest one-month drop since the start of the pandemic.

Retailers counted for more than half of the overall drop in openings, with the sector shedding 343,000 openings in June. Wholesale trade firms followed with a drop of 82,000 openings. The public education sector cut 62,000 openings.

Job listings ticked higher within the finance and insurance sector, with such firms adding 31,000 openings. Educational services added 22,000 openings.

The Tuesday reading, while preliminary, hints the labor shortage is fading. Job openings skyrocketed through 2021 as vaccine rollouts and economic reopening prompted a scramble among employers to ramp up operations. But where labor demand quickly rebounded, the count of available workers rose at a much slower pace. That imbalance persisted through 2022 and came to define the pandemic-era workforce. The latest JOLTS print, however, signals the cavernous gap between worker demand and supply is starting to close.

The number of unemployed Americans per job opening climbed to 0.6 in June from 0.5, adding to signs that the labor market is normalizing. Though there are still nearly two openings for every available worker, the uptick is the first since the pandemic started. It also snaps a three-month streak of record-low workers-per-openings ratios.

To be sure, there's still a way to go before worker supply is back to pre-crisis levels. Labor force participation — the share of Americans either working or actively seeking work — dipped in June to 62.2%, according to government data published last month. That's down from the pre-pandemic February 2020 reading of 63.4%.

Reasons abound for why workers aren't rushing back to the labor market. Public health concerns continue to fuel caution, especially with monkeypox cases soaring in several cities. Child care costs have sidelined many working parents, and the end of the school year only intensified those pressures in June. Record-high gas prices could've kept some unemployed Americans from seeking work as well.

Quits data also hints at the labor market's dislocation improving. Total quits slid to 4.2 million from 4.3 million in June, according to the report, reflecting the lowest level since October. Quits have now fallen for three months straight, reversing course from the numerous record highs notched throughout last year.

Americans tend to quit when they believe they can easily find a higher-paying job. The June decline suggests the fervor for workers that boosted wages throughout the pandemic is fading away, and that the economy is entering more familiar territory.

The Slow Motion Coup was being executed by people in the Pentagon for the former President Donald Trump. Not just the protesters.

The Department of Defense and the U.S. Army have confirmed in court filings that some former senior Trump administration officials had their phones wiped at the end of former President Trump's term, deleting any text messages that could shed insight into the events leading up to and surrounding the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Why it matters: The revelation, a result of litigation by the government watchdog American Oversight, could hamper the Jan. 6 select committee's investigation, especially on the heels of recent confirmation that certain Secret Service messages from January 6th were also deleted.

What they're saying: "[W]hen an employee separates from DOD or Army he or she turns in the government-issued phone, and the phone is wiped," the government said in the filing.

"For those custodians no longer with the agency, the text messages were not preserved and therefore could not be searched, although it is possible that particular text messages could have been saved into other records systems such as email."

Context: In January 2021, shortly after the insurrection, American Oversight filed requests for Jan. 6 records from former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, former chief of staff Kash Patel and former Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy, among other Pentagon officials, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

All three departed from their positions "after American Oversight had submitted FOIA requests specifically seeking text messages and requesting that the agencies take steps to prevent the deletion of potentially responsive records," the watchdog wrote in a letter urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to open an investigation into the failure to preserve communication.
__________
This investigation is showing how much he corrupted the Secret to agency and the department of justice and even the Pentagon.

When the Crime Is Worse Than the Cover Up

August 2, 2022 at 5:35 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 84 Comments

The conventional wisdom is that “the cover up is often worse than the crime.”

But what if the crime is so bad — such as seditious conspiracy against the United States of America — that it somehow justified the cover up for those involved?

We learned today that text messages sent and received by top Pentagon officials on January 6 were wiped from their government-issued phones.

The text messages from that day — when a violent mob attempted to stop the counting of electoral votes at the U.S. Capitol — “were not preserved, and therefore could not be searched,” according to court filings.

This is in addition to the text messages deleted from the phones of key officials in the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security.

And that’s not to mention burning documents in the White House and everything else.

It’s highly unlikely that any of this is a coincidence.

Even worse than

Top officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) inspector general’s office interfered with efforts to recover erased Secret Service texts from the time of the US Capitol attack and attempted to cover up their actions, two House committees said in a letter on Monday.

Taken together, the new revelations appear to show that the chief watchdog for the Secret Service and the DHS took deliberate steps to stop the retrieval of texts it knew were missing, and then sought to hide the fact that it had decided not to pursue that evidence.

But you think the congressional people are hacks who hate Trump

Senate approves bill to aid vets exposed to toxic burn pits

By KEVIN FREKINGa few seconds ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — A bill enhancing health care and disability benefits for millions of veterans exposed to toxic burn pits won final approval in the Senate on Tuesday, ending a brief stalemate over the measure that had infuriated advocates and inspired some to camp outside the Capitol.

The Senate approved the bill by a vote of 86-11. It now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed into law. He has said the bill “makes good on our sacred obligation” to care for veterans and their families.

Turnout Surges In Kansas for Abortion Ballot Measure
August 2, 2022 at 8:17 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 24 Comments

Nathaniel Rakich: “By all accounts, turnout in Kansas is through the roof today, with the secretary of state suggesting that half of voters statewide will cast a ballot (it’s unclear if he meant half of registered voters or half of eligible voters). That strongly suggests that the abortion-related ballot measure is driving turnout, not the state’s sleepy primaries.”

Trump Tries to Topple Powerful Wisconsin Republican
August 2, 2022 at 8:12 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 11 Comments

“After months of toying with Robin Vos, who as the speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly is the most powerful Republican in state politics, former President Donald J. Trump endorsed Mr. Vos’s long-shot primary challenger on Tuesday in a futile effort to push the state’s Republicans to decertify the results of the 2020 election,” the New York Times reports.

“Mr. Trump backed Adam Steen, a largely unknown and underfunded far-right Republican who said he would aim to claw back the state’s 10 Electoral College votes from 2020 — a legal impossibility — and enact sweeping changes to the state’s voting laws.”

Senate Republicans Reverse Course on Burn Pits Bill
August 2, 2022 at 7:48 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 100 Comments

“The Senate overwhelmingly gave the final sign-off Tuesday on legislation designed to aid veterans fighting diseases they believe are linked to toxic exposure, particularly those who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars,” the Washington Post reports.

“On a 86-11 roll call, the vote served as a political surrender by Senate Republicans, a week after they blocked consideration of the popular legislation seemingly out of political pique because Democrats clinched a party-line deal on an unrelated massive domestic policy bill that could be considered later this week.”

“Republicans absorbed a series of political blows, led by comedian Jon Stewart and several prominent veterans groups, that, by lunchtime Tuesday, left many ready to settle the matter and vote to send the legislation quickly to President Biden’s desk.”

Arizona Officials Warned Plan Could ‘Appear Treasonous’
August 2, 2022 at 5:11 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 130 Comments

“Two Arizona Republicans recruited by allies of former President Donald Trump to join an effort to keep him in office after he lost the 2020 election grew so concerned about the plan that they told lawyers working on it that they feared their actions could be seen as treason,” the New York Times reports.

“Kelli Ward, the chairwoman of the Arizona Republican Party, and Kelly Townsend, a state senator, were both said to have expressed concerns to Mr. Trump’s lawyers in December 2020 about participating in a plan to sign on to a slate of electors claiming that Mr. Trump had won Arizona, even though Joe Biden had won the state.”

“The scheme was part of a broader bid — one of the longest running and most complicated that Mr. Trump undertook as he sought to cling to power after losing the 2020 presidential election — to falsely manufacture a victory for him by creating fake slates of electors in battleground states who would claim that he had been the true winner.”

A federal grand jury has subpoenaed former Trump White House counsel Pat Cipollone in its investigation into the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol and efforts to overturn the 2020 election, sources with direct knowledge of the matter told ABC News.

The sources told ABC News that attorneys for Cipollone -- like they did with the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol -- are expected to engage in negotiations around any appearance, while weighing concerns regarding potential claims of executive privilege.

The move to subpoena Cipollone signals an even more dramatic escalation in the Justice Department's investigation of the Jan. 6 attack than previously known, following appearances by senior members of former Vice President Mike Pence's staff before the grand jury two weeks ago.

A right-wing social media influencer who posted videos of himself participating in the January 6 Capitol riot was arrested this week after an anonymous tipster flagged photos of the pro-Trump YouTuber to the FBI.

William Kit, better known online as "Semore Views," was charged with four misdemeanor counts last month, including entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct, and demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

Kit's musings on patriotism and politics have garnered him a significant social media following, with more than 37,000 YouTube subscribers and 78,700 Instagram followers.

The Daily Beast and WUSA were first to report on Kit's arrest after court documents in the case were unsealed this week. The DC man made his initial appearance in court on Monday where he was released on a personal recognizance bond and with several conditions, WUSA reported.

Videos on Kit's Semore Views YouTube channel show him among the mob of Trump supporters outside the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, facing off against law enforcement officers.

"Are you willing to fucking die for this shit?" Kit can be heard shouting in one video. "We are here to die for this shit today."

Kit also filmed himself walking into the Capitol through the Senate Wing door. Once inside the building, he can be heard asking, "Where are those goddamn politicians at? [We're] taking over the goddamn Capitol."

Closed-circuit television footage captured Kit exiting the building through a broken window a couple of minutes later, according to court documents.

But I guess this is an example of one of Ch's peaceful protesters who were there just to make a point, not actually attempt any kind of violence or illegally overthrow anything.

It was not in any way an attempt at treasonous sedition or an insurrection or a coup, according to Ch.
