Do Democrats have anything left other than hyperbole?

From the President of the United States attacking conservatives as fascists, to the FBI issuing 40 subpoenas over an event that took place 20 months ago, to demanding that recent movement of migrants to sanctuary cities is "human trafficking" - it would seem as though the only real argument liberals make anymore is exaggeration.

Obviously the fire and brimstone speech by Biden backfired. The majority of the country disagrees with the rhetoric that Jan 6th was a "coup" or "insurrection" and nearly two thirds want anyone arrested (who did not personally commit a violent crime) to be pardoned. Obviously liberals are going to get very little sympathy because these cities are being asked to share the burden of the two million migrants who will illegally make their way across the border this year.

In other words, they are losing these arguments. But rather than accept that they are losing these arguments and moving on to issues that the country cares about, they have doubled down.

Somewhere in some polling, the President's team has decided that "MAGA Republicans" was a great way to scare the country into voting for them. Yet, it hasn't worked. In fact, it became sort of a badge of honor and even Trump got involved by embracing the mantra of MAGA King. Rather than admit that attacking everyone who voted against the President is a bad strategy, they doubled down with that horrific speech that will likely go down in history as one of the worst Presidential speeches of all time.

Meanwhile, the public has generally lost interest in the events of Jan 6th riot. The last polling I saw on the subject suggested that the commission should "move on", that only about 40% of the public still believe that Jan 6th was a "coup" or an "insurrection",  and 64% stated that they believe that all non-violent protesters arrested should be pardoned. Yet, the commission is doubling down by scheduling "more" hearings and the FBI issued another 40 subpoenas right before the midterms in a transparent political move that has no logical reasoning.

Lastly, these liberal "sanctuary cities" are being mocked as they call in 150 national guardsmen to deal with 50 migrants, or have a mayor declare that they are not "Texas" so why should they have to deal with this. As if they do not understand the blatant hypocrisy of claiming to be for illegal immigration, labeling themselves a sanctuary city and then crying when a few dozen migrants end up in their town. Their response is not to welcome them, or actually take this as an understanding of what border towns go through. But rather they demand that this is somehow illegal and that those who sent the migrants to them should be punished.

The sad truth for the Democrats is that over the top rhetoric over losing causes might actually be a better option than campaigning on the last two years that they have been in charge.

KansasDem.
The so called "sanctuary cities".
We can retire that term as the Socialist Democrats killed it.
