Mr. Biden was wrong to conflate upholding the rule of law with his own partisan agenda, which he called “the work of democracy.” You can be for democracy but against the president’s policy proposals to use government to lower prescription-drug prices and combat climate change. “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards, backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love,” Mr. Biden proclaimed. But many conservatives — not just “MAGA forces” — agree with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. It was disappointing that Mr. Biden chose to omit that the infrastructure, gun-control and burn-pits legislation he praised had passed with Republican votes. Pointing this out would actually have strengthened his effort to draw a contrast between “MAGA Republicans” and “mainstream Republicans.”
The reality here is that Biden has nothing positive to offer. When he pretends that the economy is good or pretends that some of these policies are popular, he just looks stupid and out of touch. He needs to "fire up the base" and that is what these sort of hateful rhetorical speeches are. An attempt to fire up the base, even at the expense of pushing others away.
One of the toughest things for Presidents is drawing that line between being President of the United States and being the leader of their Party. Most Presidents have taken at least some care in attempting to separate the two. But this was not just a campaign speech for Democrats just a few weeks before the midterm elections, but it was by all accounts a vile nasty dark speech that was attacking in nature. But the bigger problem was that he gave it not as a Democrat giving a campaign speech, but as the President of the United States.
That crosses so many lines. But Biden wants you to believe he has to cross them.
The first step in being able to justify certain actions that are outside the norms of a society is to make people believe that it is a necessary "reaction" to what others are doing. Hitler did not just come out and say that Germany needed to jail and kill Jews. He started by spending a great deal of time demonizing them to the German public, so when the time came to round them up, the German public was accepting if not a willing partner.
There is no question that Biden and the powers of the Government are doing things well outside the boundaries of normal political behavior. From pressuring social media to censor negative stories about Democrats (Zuckerberg) to tossing non-violent protesters in jail for crimes like parading or unlawful entry to possibly charging the leading GOP Presidential candidate for a process crime after raiding his home with 30 armed FBI agents.
They believe that all of these un-American and unprecedented actions are justified, because it's the other side that is behaving outside of the norms. They have convinced many people in their own Party of the same.
They have convinced their faithful that while it is perfectly acceptable for BLM protesters to injure hundreds of police, cause billions in damages, destroy personal property, and even kill a few people in the process... it is necessary to throw a 60 year old Grandmother in jail for carrying a flag pole with an American flag too close to the Capitol building. It is not the actions you see, but the reasoning behind it. Protesting racism allows you to throw a firebomb or two, attack a police officer, and be bailed out with funds put together by Democratic politicians. But protesting an election result is such an extreme anti-American idea (at least when Republicans do it) that it justifies throwing people in jail for nonviolent protest. That is banana republic third world dictator stuff.
Meanwhile, Democrats have proven that someone doesn't have to actually commit a crime to make them vulnerable to being seen as a criminal. For close to six years everyone from the FBI, to the CIA, to Special Counsel, to local law enforcement, to state law enforcement, to Congress, to Veronica Mars has investigated Donald Trump for more criminal behavior than anyone can count. Thousand and thousands of man hours and millions and millions of dollars have been spent.
Not a single charge has been filed.
Yet, there are still Americans out there who believe the extreme measure of raiding his home with 30 armed agents over a document dispute and possibly charging him with a process crime developed from the 35th unnecessary criminal investigation is totally acceptable... because well... look at all those investigations. He must be guilty of something if he is being investigated so much?
In other words, the extreme outside the norms of American behavior being displayed by Garland, Wray and the federal law enforcement is seen as "justified" because it is reaction from the more extreme behavior of being one of the 53% of the American public who believes that the 2020 election was not conducted fairly or legally. (Wisconsin Supreme Court already admitted that their 2020 election was not held legally) Heck 80% believe Trump would have won had the FBI not had coordinated with social media to censor the Hunter Biden lap top story.
Those 80% are probably correct as are the 53% who believe the election was not run fairly or even legally. But of course me saying this makes me the extreme person in the eyes of Joe Biden and his dwindling following. That justifies extreme un-American actions against me. I should probably be arrested for holding this opinion. I should go to jail for writing as much. At least that is the argument being made by our President.

Roger...
You are not fooling anyone by posting as Anonymous.
I would respond to your ludicrous statement, but the stupidity of it stands on it's own.
Ch, haven't your been arguing that if we are to avoid a double standard, Trump should be treated in the same way Hillary was treated regarding her emails?
So how do you respond to the fact that the Justice Department decided not to prosecute her because after a long, careful seach of her emails, the number of them that were "classified" were exactly --- ZERO.
And that was confirmed even by the Trump administration years ago.
So it would be a double standard ONLY IF Trump is NOT to be prosecuted.

It’s been obvious for years that while Democrats claim to fear and loathe Donald Trump, they really can’t live without him. They need him around, they want him around, because they think he’s their ticket to remain in power.

So how do you respond to the fact that the Justice Department decided not to prosecute her because after a long, careful seach of her emails, the number of them that were "classified" were exactly --- ZERO.
Well that would be entirely incorrect.
From James Comey's speech:
From the group of 30,000 e-mails returned to the State Department, 110 e-mails in 52 e-mail chains have been determined by the owning agency to contain classified information at the time they were sent or received. Eight of those chains contained information that was Top Secret at the time they were sent; 36 chains contained Secret information at the time; and eight contained Confidential information, which is the lowest level of classification. Separate from those, about 2,000 additional e-mails were “up-classified” to make them Confidential; the information in those had not been classified at the time the e-mails were sent.
The FBI also discovered several thousand work-related e-mails that were not in the group of 30,000 that were returned by Secretary Clinton to State in 2014. We found those additional e-mails in a variety of ways. Some had been deleted over the years and we found traces of them on devices that supported or were connected to the private e-mail domain. Others we found by reviewing the archived government e-mail accounts of people who had been government employees at the same time as Secretary Clinton, including high-ranking officials at other agencies, people with whom a Secretary of State might naturally correspond.
snip
Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.
snip
Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. Prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before bringing charges. There are obvious considerations, like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent. Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person’s actions, and how similar situations have been handled in the past.

When American presidents reserve the prime-time hour to address the nation on grave threats facing the country, they are almost always focused on external forces — the Soviet Union, foreign terrorism, or even the coronavirus.
But when President Biden stood before Independence Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday night, he warned that American democracy stands at the precipice because of a decidedly different threat — one that, he said, comes from within the country’s borders. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said.
In a remarkable turn, the president of the United States was identifying his predecessor and his followers — a group that arguably includes millions of U.S. citizens — as the gravest threat to the stability of the 246-year American experiment. Not since the Civil War has an American president issued such a stark warning about the behavior and menace posed by fellow Americans.
Trump’s ability to be The President again is very questionable.
The Republican nominee for Michigan secretary of state threatened to kill her own daughters after her husband asked for a divorce, according to court records filed on Friday.
Kristina Karamo, the nominee who received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, "was committed to an institution for evaluation due to her efforts at self-harm and suicide,"
I was just wondering if those marines standing behind Biden were Trump supporters.
The MAGA Republicans are bringing back Jim Crow using police officers...
He is much more dangerous than Trump.
Last month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the first charges stemming from a newly formed election police unit he helped to create in the state. But in the weeks since then, complicating information has emerged that could make it harder for the state to obtain convictions, advocates and at least one prominent Republican official said.
Voting rights advocates are blaming what they describe as a confusing process that makes it difficult for either the suspects or election officials to tell whether they're eligible to vote.
But you don't care.
But you don't care.
You're right Roger...
I don't care.
What it sounds like to me is that if you allow the election officials to not follow the law, then when the voter doesn't follow the law, they can blame the election officials for not following the law, who will claim that they didn't understand the law...
and people who are not supposed to vote... just continue to vote?
The guy who wants Trump held accountable just for being the bad orange man - doesn't believe that actually breaking the law should be punishable.
Typical...

Biden is not perfect but, even if Trump wins in 2024, he will not want a mob
Re 1:53PM,
With regard to whether Hillary's emails were "classified," Ch, perhaps you should carefully read -- not the discredited writing of Comey -- but this:
https://www.nationalmemo.com/hillary-clinton-emails-2658142483
Please allow me to quote briefly from the last link I sent:
_________
"But while we don’t yet know the extent or nature of Trump’s abuse of classified documents, we can determine how many were found by investigators, after exhaustive searches, among Clinton’s thousands of State Department emails.
"The accurate and definitive answer is zero – although few if any news outlets have informed the public of that startling fact. Moreover, it is a fact that the Trump administration itself confirmed three years ago.
"In the recent coverage that references her emails, former FBI Director James Comey is sometimes quoted as saying that of the 33,000 Clinton emails examined by bureau investigators, three had classification markings. That’s less than one-hundredth of one percent, and not worth comparing to Trump’s malfeasance anyway, but it’s still false -- apparently meant to bolster Comey’s absurd claim that other Clinton emails were “classified” although never marked as such.
"Those three State Department documents were “call sheets,” innocuous memos reminding Clinton to make scheduled phone calls. During her FBI interview, investigators showed her one of those memos, reminding her to place a condolence call to the president of Malawi--not exactly a top secret matter. As Comey himself later admitted, any classification marking on that sheet had been wrongly applied.
"In short, the three supposedly classified documents attributed to her emails were barely even confidential, let alone secret or subject to the sanctions of the Espionage Act."
__________
Italics and boldfacing added by me.
Sorry Reverend...
But I will take James Comey's own version of events as described on national television...
You can believe some blogger if you so choose.
I assume readers will want to draw their own conclusion, having carefully read the entire link I gave.
Reverend...
It is literally a blogger who admits that nobody else is picking up on what he apparently understands... likely because what he understands is not true.
He just "asserts" this without proof.
"The accurate and definitive answer is zero – although few if any news outlets have informed the public of that startling fact.
He provides no link or any reasoning behind it.
former FBI Director James Comey is sometimes quoted as saying that of the 33,000 Clinton emails examined by bureau investigators, three had classification markings.
Maybe or maybe not true as this person provides no links evidence. But not relevant because the "INFORMATION" is what is or is not "CLASSIFIED". She was sending CLASSIFIED INFORMATION in emails. "She" was sending it. Is the argument it was not "classified" is she didn't mark it so?
Unlike the President, Clinton did not have the authority to declassify information, so whether she "marked" it as such is completely irrelevant to the classification.
Comey confirmed UNDER OATH what he stated in that address. The server contained 115 emails that were classified when they were sent, including 8 "chains" that included the highest rated Top Secret information.
Are you suggesting that Comey lied under oath because of what some blogger told you?
Clinton also testified under oath that she thought that the "C" for classified meant that it was part 3 of a series or that it was the "third" paragraph. She made some claims that there was an expectation that the entire word "classified" should be there.
So I guess even Clinton was confused and should have been listening to this blogger and demanded she sent nothing!
Comey wrong.
Clinton wrong.
Joe Conason is the only one right, huh?

Good analogy alky, only you have it exactly backwards.
Hitler singled out the Jews for annihilation.
Biden has done the same for 74 million Americans who did not vote for him.
His speech was a declaration of civil war.
KD.
The Biden Hate Speech has made history.
As RRB correctly put it , a declaration of war .
This guy fired the first Shots.
Bye mm bye Roger.
“FBI agents just doing their job as directed.”
That statement proves conclusively that even a brain-compromised nitwit is right once a millennium. The FBI has been doing their job, exactly as directed by Obama, Biden, and God knows who else. No one ever said the Feebs don’t work hard, no, just that they’re Democrat tools in suits.
“We can’t let the integrity of our elections be undermined.”
What Biden undoubtedly meant to say -- perhaps the teleprompter or Biden’s cortex suffered a momentary glitch while he spoke -- was that we can’t allow integrity in our elections, hence, the Democrat drive for mail-in voting, drop-boxes, early and late voting, ballot harvesting, I.D.-free voting, etc., etc.
My goodness. Biden has singled out 74 million Americans who did not vote for him for annihilation,
rat (rrb) tells us.
No, but a growing number of them now realize they voted wrongly and will vote differently in the future.
Not exactly an annihilation.
Just a change of heart.
Newsmax
Just days after President Joe Biden gave a dark speech denouncing Republicans, former President Donald Trump called out the "totally corrupt" "partisan mobsters" of the FBI abusing "their power" to elected the "cognitively impaired" Biden.
"The FBI is totally corrupt," Trump wrote in a Truth Social statement Saturday. "They blatantly used their power to get a cognitively impaired Democrat elected President — in two elections."
Trump compared the latest "abuse" of power of the raid of his private residence at Mar-a-Lago to the perpetrating of the Russia collusion narrative in the 2016 election.
"They spied on my campaign and now, broke into my home, using a radical left Trump-hating magistrate to grant approval, and indiscriminately stole everything within reach, including my passports," Trump's statement continued. "They even 'riffled' through the first lady's closets, dresses and drawers.
"They are an out-of-control group of highly partisan 'mobsters,' a real threat to democracy!"
Trump's pointed rebuke comes on the morning of a return to the Save America rally tour, relaunching Saturday night in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Newsmax is going to air Trump's speech live, starting at 7 p.m.
It is his first rally in weeks and the first since the raid of Mar-a-Lago under the guise of retrieving documents for the National Archives.
Lock her up
Historians and future generations of Americans will really laugh at any who are trying to put Biden on the same "hate" level as Donald Trump.
And those who do not laugh will be mystified and/or horrified.
Still living in the past with Hillary's emails......BWAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! No comparison to the damage trump has done to the US!!!
Some of you might want to read this.
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/09/why-the-trump-search-warrant-is-nothing-like-hillarys-emails-00050691
Short quote from my politico.com link above:
"Though the grand jury investigation of efforts by Trump and his allies to disrupt the transfer of power on Jan. 6, 2021, has drawn more intense public scrutiny, it’s the investigation of his handling of presidential records that poses its own legal threat. In fact, some of the very Trump allies who cooperated with the House’s Jan. 6 probe were among those charged by Trump with managing his presidential records after leaving office.
"A day before Joe Biden’s inauguration, Trump named seven administration officials as his representatives to the National Archives. Among them were his chief of staff, Mark Meadows; White House counsel Pat Cipollone; his deputies Patrick Philbin, Scott Gast and Michael Purpura; national security attorney John Eisenberg; and Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel chief Steven Engel.
"Engel has testified to the Jan. 6 select committee about his resistance to Trump’s plan to remove Justice Department leaders and replace them with compliant officials who would support his effort to remain in power. Cipollone also testified about his concerns with the legality of some of Trump allies’ attempts to overturn the results of the election.
"It’s unclear whether all seven of the officials remain authorized representatives for Trump, but the former president has also recently added at least two additional representatives: reporter John Solomon and former Pentagon official Kash Patel."
My comment: Whoever was advising Trump sure gave him so piss poor advice. Oh wait. We have extensive evidence that a number of advisors TRIED to tell him he could not do what he was doing.
Post this I dare you

Roger...
Polling shows the FBI below water for some time... According to Gallup only 41% of Independents, 26% of Republicans and 44% of the overall American public has trust in the FBI.
Other polling has been consistent that the only group of people who still approve of the FBI are Democrats.
Why do you suppose that is?
I see the Reverend has given up trying to use the opinion of a blogger to suggest that James Comey lied under oath about Hillary Clinton's e-mails?
Moved on to more "Trump bashing"

Biden and Big Tech, joint attack on free speech.
The Twitter account of actress Gina Carano, who plays a leading role in the upcoming movie about Joe Biden and Hunter Biden, My Son Hunter, has been deleted.
Ch referred to Joe Conason's writing as "the opinion of a blogger."
No, Ch, what you write here in your threads is "the opinion of a [mere] blogger" -- namely, YOU.
Joe Conason, by contrast, has written and co-authored several best selling books. How many significant books have you written?
Take a look at the Wikipedia article on Joe Conason.
Then read again his article which I linked and excerpted at 3:41 and 3:48.
And, I repeat, note this:
"But while we don’t yet know the extent or nature of Trump’s abuse of classified documents, we can determine how many were found by investigators, after exhaustive searches, among Clinton’s thousands of State Department emails.
"The accurate and definitive answer is zero – although few if any news outlets have informed the public of that startling fact. Moreover, it is a fact that the Trump administration itself confirmed three years ago."
And as for Biden bashing Trump and using divisive hate speech,
try this on for size:
Donald Trump called President Biden’s primetime speech this week the “most vicious, hateful, and divisive speech ever delivered by a president.”
Said Trump:
“He’s an enemy of the state if you want to know the truth. The enemy of the state is him(sic) and the group that control him, which is circling around him. ‘Do this, do that, Joe.’”
He added:
“How’d you like the red lighting behind him like the devil?”
Just days after President Joe Biden gave a dark speech denouncing Republicans, former President Donald Trump called out the "totally corrupt" "partisan mobsters" of the FBI abusing "their power" to elected the "cognitively impaired" Biden.

Sorry Reverend...
He is writing for what is basically a "blog" who literally offered NO EVIDENCE of his "opinion" that James Comey, Hillary Clinton, and he entire American media was fooled into believing that the FBI found 115 specific classified documents on her server and 2000 more that sensitive enough that they were later classified.
You watched James Comey give his televised speech. You watched him under oath.
There is LITERALLY NOTHING in this person's article (6 years later) that provides the slightest bit of evidence of what he suggests.
NOTHING!
But yet... both you and Roger repeat it like he is gospel???
How f-n stupid is that?
It would be like me finding ONE PERSON who suggested that the FBI really didn't find any documents in Trump's home marked "classified".
How stupid would I be to repeat that?
How "accurate" is something that is contradicted by every report, Comey's own statements under oath, as well as Hillary's own testimony?
I will tell you...
So "accurate" that this person admits that nobody else really understands his truth either.
Guess you need to go back and read again, mere blogger Ch, read the opinion of a distinguished best selling author like Joe Conason, NOT a mere blogger like you.
And why haven't you given us any evidence disproving Conason's statement,
'Moreover, it is a fact that the Trump administration itself confirmed three years ago"?
Hmmmmm?
