Political rhetoric at it's worst or finest depending on your viewpoint...

An honest description of Lindsey Graham's abortion bill (legal within 15 weeks) would resonate as a popular compromise with a majority of Americans

So where do American stand?
  • Legal past 15 weeks - 28%
  • Not legal past 15 weeks - 72%
In other words, the Lindsey Graham proposal would be considered favored by over 70% of Americans. So what do Democrats do? They demand that Lindsey Graham's abortion bill is a "ban" on abortion. They repeat the lie over and over and over. That is quite literally a blatant dishonest rhetorical argument that only has a chance to be successful if nobody actually questions them on it.

Earlier this week, the White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was questioned by reporters on what the Biden administration stance actually was? If they are not in favor of 15 weeks, at what point in the pregnancy would they be willing to put a stop to it? Obviously with only 10% of the population in favor of abortion till birth, the White House (and Democrats) owe the American public an explanation as to what they would accept? If not 15 how about 23 weeks? 30 weeks? When is the acceptable time to say abortions should no longer take place?

Seems like a fair question. But Jean-Pierre was unwilling to answer, likely because neither the White House or Democrats are going to be willing to go on record here. They would rather attack the GOP over what would be a popular proposal by basically misleading the public on it.  Dishonesty and disinformation is all they have left at this point.

Let women decide
~~for abortion only up to 6 weeks
~~or only up to 15 weeks
~~or only up to 23 weeks
~~or anytime before birth
~~or not for abortion at all, anytime.

Let parents and grandparents and young girls decide if abortion can be chosen
~~for young girls who were raped
~~or in cases where it is learned the fetus has died
~~or in conditions that could lead to a woman's death when giving birth.

Let them decide,
not the Deep Republican State.

So if someone's wife was in her 38th week of pregnancy and decides she doesn't want it, James is fine with killing it. How pastorly of him.

Personally, I favor 20 week oinit.

I don't like abortion and wish we could all work together to encourage responsible attitudes toward sex and birth control in order to decrease unwanted pregnancies.

But I don't want the state dictating to women and girls what they must decide.

Reverend

You act as if unlimited and unfettered access to abortion through 9 months is a reasonable position?

Why then do only one in ten agree with you?

Is 90% of the country unreasonable?

Too bad the midterms won't be about abortion

A large portion of the country and especially women want decisions left up to the woman, and are very upset with the last Supreme Court ruling, after being told by Republican Justices that Roe vs. Wade was settled law.

And look at this from last night.

Republicans in Arizona Silent After Abortion Ruling
September 24, 2022 at 7:23 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 381 Comments

“Arizona Democrats vowed Saturday to fight for women’s rights after a court reinstated a law first enacted during the Civil War that bans abortion in nearly all circumstances, looking to capitalize on an issue they hope will have a major impact on the midterm elections,”
the AP reports.

“Republican candidates were silent a day after the ruling, which said the state can prosecute doctors and others who assist with an abortion unless it’s necessary to save the mother’s life. Kari Lake, the GOP candidate for governor, and Blake Masters, the Senate candidate, did not comment.”

And here is one Republican woman who has made a decision:

Liz Cheney is saying she will leave the GOP if Trump is their 2024 Nominee.

“I’m going to make sure Donald Trump
--I’m going to do everything I can to make sure he is not the nominee. And if he is the nominee, I won’t be a Republican.”

So tell me how this is any different from ANY issue democrats oppose, or favor for that matter.

All they ever do is lie. There is nothing new under the sun when it comes to the left and their pathological lying. On every single issue.

When your signature legislation - 0linsky-care - earns "Lie Of The Year" status, that pretty much says it all. And in today's terms - the "Inflation Reduction Act" reduces nothing but wealth.

And as to the issue itself - I wish Lindsey Graham would just shut the fuck up. Abortion has been returned to the states to decide. Leave it there.

Yep.

But our corrupt, imbecile governor is running for re-election on the abortion issue anyway, even though abortion is codified in the NYS Constitution.

We're losing 5,000 residents a day here, and no one wants to talk about why. The 'why' will become apparent when there's no one left to tax.

No Reverend...

Read the polls

10% of the public wants this to be just an "open" decision for women to have abortions for any reasons at any time.

10% of the public.

Either you didn't read anything in the post (then why bother to comment) or you are soooo full of cognitive dissonance that you simply cannot accept it.

I didn't say everyone wanted abortion to be completely open. You always distort everything I say. I myself am in favor of late term abortions being illegal.

That 10% is what the lying POS "pastor" calls "A large portion of the country"

remember liberals don't do math

but do continuously lie

The only people who are saying no abortion at all at any time under any circumstances -- rape, child rape, danger to health of the mother, or otherwise -- are Republican state legislatures reflecting the religious convictions of fanatic fundamentalists.

FACT CHECK - TRUE

C.H. Truth said...

A majority of women (75%) want abortions to be banned after 15 weeks... or sooner. Only 25% of women believe that a women should still have that choice after 15 weeks.

How does the Reverend reconcile that with his own argument (that it just should be up to women) that he believes sounds "reasonable" - when that argument is even unreasonable to three quarters of the American women?

Seems like the Reverend "thinks" he is giving a response that women would respect, but more than three out of four would disagree with his reasoning.

Moreover... you cannot get a straight answer from the Reverend in terms of what he actually would support. Would it be the Roe/Casey standard of viability (as in no abortions after viability)? Even that would be a minority position with women?

He seems to be saying that he believe in complete access with only the pregnant woman having any say... which is unpopular with 90% of Americans.

but he then demands that this is not what he means, won't tell us what he does mean... and then brings up some state that wants a complete ban as if being against that tells us what he actually believes.

What do you believe Reverend?

Any woman can have an abortion for any reason at any time?

Or are there limits?
