There are several predictions here... but the one that seems to make the most sense is some sort of agreement that gets settled in the lame duck portion of Congress. In other words after the midterms, but before the new Congress is sworn in. This all hinges on the idea that the GOP will take over at least one chamber of congress and would move to immediately push an investigation into this particular investigation.
The logic would be that if they set up a plea, put a deal in place, that any sort of congressional investigation bumps into the idea that the case is closed and that Congress is now investigating a settled manner. Now if some minor miracle happened and the Democrats held on to both the House and Senate, then perhaps this would give the powers to be more time to stall and possibly push this out even further.
But I don't believe it is possible anymore that Hunter Biden escapes charges. I am about 95% certain it will involve a plea. That being said, it is more than possible that Hunter Biden (being a Democrat) could get a favorable jury result in a DC court. A Democrat could gun down someone in broad daylight and a DC jury still might end up acquitting. But a trial of any sort is likely not what the Biden administration wants. Even if it ended in an acquittal.
