Twitter lays off thousands and locks everyone out of the office...

Apparently Twitter employees are finding out today via email whether or not they still have a job with the new Twitter

Those who will have a job will be notified through their company email. Those who will not will be notified through their personal email. The expectations are that close to half will be fired today. All office access is suspended (meaning people will not be able to head in and take company belongings as sometimes happens during mass layoffs).

A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Twitter employees suggesting that they did  not get a 60 day notice, but that will not get anyone's job back. At stake will be whether Musk will have to pay them for the 60 days or not. It could be that his layoff packages could include payments and incentives to walk away without being involved in a lawsuit. Of course it would likely be cheapest for Musk to pay out the 60 days to the layed off employees.

The overall problem with Twitter and their workforce is that they made no secret that they were slackers. In fact they took pride in how often they all went on leave, how much time they spent in the office exercising or relaxing in a pod or drinking wine from the wine dispensers (that look like regular soda fountain). Twitter slackers were regulars on Tic Toc and other social media platforms bragging up their slacker jobs. They appeared to do very little work and got apparently got  paid decent money for not working. All in the name of inclusivity and such.
