A no mandate election...

It really doesn't matter who wins this election or by how much. There will be no mandate because the specific reason for most people to vote in this election will no longer exists once November 8th passes. More than any election in my lifetime (and probably in history) this is an election where a significant portion of Americans will vote to keep one or the other candidates from winning.

As the liberal media is becoming more convinced that Hillary Clinton will win the election, you are seeing more and more people step up and talk about the unfairness of her unpopularity. The "irony" of the first woman President coming into office with a cloud over her. They are now looking to "blame" someone (anyone) else for these problems.

The truth is that Hillary Clinton could win by 20 points and it would still not offer her a mandate. Her entire campaign has been focused on stopping Donald Trump from becoming President. She could effectively resign a day after being sworn in and could claim to have accomplished most of what she set out to do.

She has literally written off tens of millions of Americans as deplorable, un-American, and irredeemable. She continuously accuses Trump, Republicans, and their supporters of being racist, bigoted, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, etc... These comments, ladies and gentlemen, do not solicit cooperation from those who disagree with you.  They solicit a deep resentment and dislike of the person making the statement.

She has been provided cover by the media, she got away with criminal activity that everyday Americans would be in jail over, and she simply refuses to tell the truth about a wide range of issues. Her hypocrisy over the sexual allegations of Donald Trump play to the heart of the sort of person she is. Basically, when it comes to Hillary Clinton, all is fair in love, war, and politics. Shame or threaten sexual assault victims to provide cover for your Husband. Blame a  youtube video for the deaths of four Americans who were killed on your watch. Blame the vast right wing conspiracy for everything else in between. Anything that has to be done.

The concept of a "rigged" election is not just a Donald Trump issue, but it was a Bernie Sanders issue as well. Leaked emails from the DNC "proved" that the Party worked behind the scenes to give Clinton every advantage they could in the primary season. We have been shown evidence of collusion within the media to help her win, going as fair as CNN sending Clinton debate questions in advance. Currently 41% of the American electorate believe that this election has the potential to be "stolen" by fraud and other means.

Believe me when I say that the same media who has colluded with the Clinton campaign has no credibility to tell Americans they are wrong to feel the way they feel.

Lastly, once either of these candidates become President, any argument regarding the "other candidate" becomes moot. The only relevant argument at that point becomes your ability to point to the "good qualities" of your candidate. Between the two of them, there isn't enough good qualities to fill a thimble.

That being said, one could argue that of the two of them, Trump offers a better chance of claiming a mandate. At least he is running on something (the ultimate outsider draining the swap of establishment corruption). Even the Hillary campaign has openly admitted that they have no real idea what her message is. Not that Trump would be popular (he wouldn't be) or necessarily effective (he wouldn't be popular with many in Congress). But at least he could point to the fact he won with a message.

If Clinton wins, however... it will be with the Message that Donald Trump is unfit. It will be fueled by elitism, favoritism, and dishonest campaign tactics. It will come at a cost of alienating most every Donald Trump voter in the deepest of fashioned and poisoning the system. The media can look as hard as they want. They can look under the bed, behind the couch, or in the closet. The only thing they will find to blame is Hillary Clinton and those who enabled her. The first woman President would have no mandate to lead.

Clinton's multifarious mandate will be
pro women
pro choice
pro sensible gun legislation
pro sensible restraints on Wall Street
pro sensible climate change legislation
pro sensible comprehensive immigration policies
pro middle class
pro jobs
pro gay rights
pro blacks
pro Native Americans
pro Asian Americans
pro other minorities
pro fixing our ailing infrastructure
against sexism
against racism
against xenophobia
against homophobia
against Islamophobia
against white supremacy
against unrestrained Wall Street excesses
against providing American "boots on the ground" in foreign fields of combat (let them do more of their own fighting)

and all that is just what immediately springs to mind.
You're welcome.

Wow James...

So according to you... she would have a "mandate" to call Americans a bunch of names.

I guess that about sums up this election cycle.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

No, she will have a mandate to oppose the worst manifestations of jingoism and inhumanity that Trump has appealed to and marshaled in his own support.

C.H. Truth said...

James -

A mandate, by definition... never includes the "opposition" to tens of millions of Americans. That fact that you believe it does is troubling.

A mandate, by definition... means that the vast majority of people are willing to get behind a candidate when they win. That includes those who didn't vote for the person.

You know someone like Ronald Reagan who managed to win two elections by huge margins without every demanding that all opposition to him is based on racism, bigotry, and hate. He successfully worked with both Parties and garnered the respect of the nation.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Bullshit, Ch. You play with words.

How you can say with a straight face that those who are voting for Trump are not voting for someone "in opposition" to the other candidate is amusing.

We would prefer of course for a candidate to receive a strong mandate. Yet George W. Bush claimed a "mandate" when he narrowly won against Kerry.

Truth is, the American public is expected to recognize the winner of a presidential election as their president, no matter how strongly opposed a sizable portion may be. Any correctly elected president has a "mandate" to be president.

wphamilton said...

Any mandate from a Clinton win could be summed up as "Don't act like Donald Trump".

C.H. Truth said...

No James... I have offered that "neither" candidate would have a mandate. Just that of the two, only Trump appears to have an actual message that is resonating. There is no hypocrisy there.

But once again, the best you can do is point fingers and say they other side does it too. That strategy goes out the window (for either side) come next January when one of them is sworn in.

Problem James, is very simple:

Trump says bad things about Clinton. He can call her corrupt, dishonest, a crook. Whatever. What Trump doesn't do is claim that Clinton supporters are corrupt, dishonest, etc...

That's the difference. Clinton doesn't leave it at attacking Donald Trump. She attacks the American voter who is supporting him with horrible name calling and bigoted stereotyping. She attacks the very voter she hopes to lead. She personally attacks "me" and many of the people I know who would not vote for Clinton if she was the last person on earth.

Indy Voter said...

You're basically right about the mandate. The exception would be if the Democrats can wrest control of the House away from the Republicans (about a 1% chance IMO).

There are two basic givens from her election IMO. The Supreme Court will get a liberal majority. She will protect Obamacare. Beyond that pretty much everything is up for negotiation, and we'll see whether she is a good negotiator or not.

Honest, decent, truthful Rev. said...

Any mandate from a Clinton win could be summed up as "Don't act like Donald Trump".

Not a bad mandate, actually.

Indy Voter said...

I disagree on a Trump win, though. That would be a mandate for Trump to disrupt our international relationships across the board. He would be like that dipshit in the Philippines, Duterte, except he'd have nukes and a global military force to enforce his whims. And that's why I will not vote for him.

REPORT: VOTES SWITCHED FROM TRUMP TO HILLARY IN TEXAS
"She voted straight Republican and the vote had changed to Clinton!"

Residents of at least two cities in Texas are complaining that they voted for Donald Trump only to see the voting machine switch their ballot to Hillary Clinton.

Early voting for the 2016 presidential election started yesterday for people in some areas who have been given the opportunity to avoid the long lines on November 8.

However, in Amarillo, a woman was shocked to see her ballot flip from Republican to Democrat.

“Gary and I went to early vote today,” wrote Lisa Houlette on Facebook. “I voted a straight Republican ticket and as I scrolled to submit my ballot I noticed that the Republican straight ticket was highlighted, however, the Clinton/Kaine box was also highlighted!”

Must be a Soros machine. Early voter = more opportunities for Democrats to cheat.

James - many (probably a healthy majority) of the people I know are Trump supporters, or at the very least will vote against Clinton. That includes most of my extended family, many of the people I work with, almost all of my neighbors, as well as a great many people I see through my children's activities. (my youngest has played in very prestigious hockey league here made up of many of your privileged types). I find it amazing over the past several months how many people are willing to state their opinion, once they know others agree.

I don't know anyone of those Trump supporters who I would offer is any of the things Hillary Clinton suggests they are. I would offer that they have very legitimate political reasons for supporting Trump, that have absolutely nothing to do with bigotry or hatred.

So when someone brushes a broad stroke and gives a percentage of something like "half" - that statistically must include many of these people I know. I find it offensive that these people are lumped together and insulted by people who simply don't care to know the "real reasons" why these people support Trump and not Clinton.

Actually the only thing she regretted was using the work "half". She probably meant more like "all". Not much of an apology, nor does it do anything to change the perception that this is how she feels.

Certainly reading the liberal journalists (especially women and minority journalists) you get the distinct impression that "they" believe fully that Trump's support is based on bigotry and hate.

The advertising being run here in Minnesota (by the Democratic Party) is suggesting that people who don't "denounce" him are bigots, racists, and misogynists.

This is a full court press James. All about demanding (yes demanding) that opposition to Clinton is based on such hatred and bigotry, which can "only" lead people to believe that they are being called such. It's as low as a campaign has "ever" gone... and it's not acceptable to suggest that it's Trumps fault. Not when these same people defended Bill Clinton for doing infinitely worse.

she certainly knows inhumanity. the inhumane way she treated each of her husband's victims was disgusting.

what's humorous about the mandate you say she has is how ridiculous that claim is on its face. her entire candidacy (and presidency should she win) is nothing more (and nothing less) than one big consolation prize for staying married to a rapist and aiding and abetting him in disposing of his victims.

in other words, it's a debt her husband owes her, and one american people get stuck paying.

and the fact that she was so willing to subject herself to 40 years of sociopathic humiliation says a lot about her character, or lack thereof.

Two days later, Mr. Obama’s spokesman, Josh Earnest, tried to clarify the president’s remarks, saying that he had, in fact, exchanged emails with Mrs. Clinton through her private account. But Mr. Earnest suggested that the president had no idea the emails could be a problem, because he had relied on Mrs. Clinton to make sure that using a private account did not break any laws.

Donald Trump “has stopped holding events for his high-dollar fundraising operation for the rest of the campaign, an unusual move that deals another serious blow to the GOP’s effort to finance its get-out-the-vote operation before Election Day,” the Washington Post reports.

“Trump’s decision effectively turns off one of the main spigots to the Republican National Committee, which collected $40 million through Trump Victory as of Sept. 30. The party has devoted a large share of the funds to pay for its national voter mobilization program to benefit the entire Republican ticket.”

Trump’s Biggest Fear Is Losing Status

October 25, 2016By Taegan Goddard103 Comments
New York Times: “The intense ambitions and undisciplined behaviors of Mr. Trump have confounded even those close to him, especially as his presidential campaign comes to a tumultuous end, and he confronts the possibility of the most stinging defeat of his life. But in the more than five hours of conversations — the last extensive biographical interviews Mr. Trump granted before running for president — a powerful driving force emerges: his deep-seated fear of public embarrassment.”

“The recordings reveal a man who is fixated on his own celebrity, anxious about losing his status and contemptuous of those who fall from grace. They capture the visceral pleasure he derives from fighting, his willful lack of interest in history, his reluctance to reflect on his life and his belief that most people do not deserve his respect.”

“In the interviews, Mr. Trump makes clear just how difficult it is for him to imagine — let alone accept — defeat.”

Fractured GOP Prepares for a loss of epic proportions.

Hillary Clinton's 5-point lead over Donald Trump remains virtually unchanged since last week—but after prolonged in-fighting among GOP party leaders, a majority of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters (57 percent) see a lasting fracture in the Republican Party, according to the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey poll.

In a four-way match-up, Clinton enjoys 46 percent support this week among likely voters, while Trump holds onto 41 percent support. Gary Johnson maintains 7 percent support and Jill Stein has 3 percent support. In a two way race, Clinton enjoys a 6 point lead over Trump with 50 percent support compared to Trump's 44 percent.

That's the big media narrative that the Clinton campaign wants. But the actual crowd sizes tell a far different story. Trump is drawing 20000-30000 everywhere. Hillary is lucky if she gets a tenth of that.

1980 all over again.

hey rog, can you please do me a favor?

the legacy blog is overdue for another one of your cut n' paste's. make it a long one as you are often prone to do. you know - the one's that take up almost the entire fucking page.

and about the font size - yeah, the bigger the better. i want to be able to read it from clear across the street. and i know that folks in your age bracket - and older - do appreciate that.

i'm sure the ny times has a scathing "trump sucks" op/ed you can grab. or perhaps something from your idol kevin drum over at mother jones. you haven't posted his asshattery in a while.

thanks in advance rog.

i know you're the man for the job and you will not let us down.

Florida Is Slipping Away From Trump

But pf course Trump is saying that it is NOT and he is going to win Florida, which he almost definitely HAS to have if he is to have any chance at all of winning.

But of course the following is only Tannenbaum's left wing propaganda and lies:

Donald Trump Once Hosted Scandalous Parties

Donald Trump's image took another hit or boost (depending on your point of view) with the published report of Michael Gross about some of the Trump-hosted parties Gross attended in the 1990s.

He said they were full of wealthy friends of Trump, high rollers from his Atlantic City casinos, and potential Trump condo buyers. They were also many young models, some as young as 15, who were introduced to much older, wealthy men. Gross reported that there was cocaine, top-shelf liquor, and lots of sex at the parties. Cigarettes were forbidden because Trump doesn't smoke. Gross described the girls as a kind of "currency" that the men traded among themselves.

Is Trump the kind of man straitlaced evangelical voters admire? Probably not, but most of them are so scared of the kind of justices Hillary Clinton would nominate to the Supreme Court that they will vote for him anyway. (Tannenbaum)

Clinton Maintains Wide National Lead

The latest ABC News daily tracking poll shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by nine points, 49% to 40%, followed by Gary Johnson at 5% and Jill Stein at 2%.
_______________

House Republicans Hope Bleeding Has Stopped

“House Republicans are increasingly worried that Donald Trump’s presidential collapse will cut deep into their 30-seat majority, as races that looked relatively safe months ago have suddenly become battlegrounds in the final weeks of the 2016 election,” Politico reports.

“The blowback against Trump has practically eradicated the GOP’s early autumn hopes of keeping its House losses in the single digits. Some senior House Republicans are now predicting they could lose as many as 20 seats — not quite enough to lose the majority, but “on the warning track” of a devastating result, as one worried GOP strategist put it.”

Florida Takes Center Stage Again

Wall Street Journal: “Mr. Trump finished three days of campaigning here Tuesday, touching down in its biggest cities and filling the airwaves with his most expensive advertising buys. At the same time, Mrs. Clinton launched a two-day trip, seeking to capitalize on an early-voting push to buoy Democrats here.”

“Long a presidential swing state, Florida also features a Senate race that could determine which party controls that chamber, and four of the most competitive House races, which could be key to the GOP keeping control of that chamber.”

I thought Ms Kelly came out rather badly in the exchange.

Gingrich was absolutely right when he said that you can't characterize Trump as a sexual predator on the flimsy evidence shown while giving Bill Clinton a pass where there is far more ample evidence of far more serious sexual assaults.

Her lame response that Bill Clinton is "not on the ticket" doesn't fly.

Everyone with half a brain knows that Bill Clinton is a relevant to the campaign as Hillary herself is.
