Election closing during final days...

Donald Trump has effectively climbed within "one" state of Hillary Clinton in the "no toss up" Real Clear Politics map. This would actually qualify under most circumstances as a shocking change of momentum, if not for the fact that this has been what has continually happened during this election season.

If I had a dollar for every time some pundit has suggested that this election was over I might be able to retire. If I had five for every prediction of a Clinton blowout I could retire rich.

For those who have repeatedly criticized me for not jumping on the "Hillary in a landslide" bandwagon, I might want to suggest that I told you so. But that also assumes that nothing else happens over the next week to change the race again. The consistent point I have made about this election is that in many ways it's not like others, and cannot be treated as such. But that in many ways it's "exactly" like others, and therefor some of the natural trend lines that would probably show a close election with a slight advantage to the GOP cannot be ignored. As I have stated over and over and over... no matter how many times some Donald Trump bombshell scandal broke to put Clinton out in the lead... some very strong political gravity has continually pulled her back down to the mid forties in the four way race.

This is where it becomes interesting. With both candidates wallowing in the mid forties, and third Party support and undecided making up nearly twelve percent of the polling samples there is a great deal of wiggle room for lots of different scenarios. Hillary could still win by a comfortable margin. But she could also lose uncomfortably.

For Trump, his challenge is to turn one more blue state on this map to red. On paper that would appear to be a daunting challenge. But quite honestly we may not see enough state polling before the election to completely digest the events of the past few days. Moreover, we still have no idea if this year's polling "assumptions" about a large Democratic turnout will hold up on election day.  I still agree with Silver and others who suggest that if Trump wins the popular vote, that there are many states (Colorado, New Hampshire, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin) that will come into play for him.

So simple it is not. The challenge is also to keep FL, NC, AZ, NV and perhaps some other state(s) from ultimately going blue.

James - your argument is always the same.

"Someone disagrees with cht, therefor cht must be wrong."

It's a tiresome and quite frankly an insulting argument.

But here is the deal James. The current state of the race is "still" built on the assumption of the same pollsters that are giving Clinton a reasonable (and sometimes large) national polling lead.

If, it turns out that Trump wins the popular vote nationally. That would mean that the pollsters like LA Times and Peoples Pundit were right and that many of these other pollsters were wrong. If those other pollsters were wrong nationally, it would naturally follow that they were wrong in state races as well.

_______

But since you don't trust me... Trust Nate Silver. He currently shows Clinton with a 3.2% national lead. Let's say Trump wins by 2 points. That would be a five point swing from what he is expecting.

Now go to his projection page and look at his state rankings. Move them by the five points he would hypothetically be wrong overall... tell me how many states flip and whether or not a two point Trump victory "could" turn into a pretty large ECV win.

Oh the small incestuous little world of Washington.

Americans now have reason to wonder about the other debates and who else in the so-called unbiased media world was seeking to assist the Clinton campaign by sneaking her a preview of questions or tilting the news in her favor. Such thinking is no longer cynical; it's just realistic as we've seen just how widespread the corruption and bias goes.

And if people are willing to cheat in the debates, what else wouldn’t they justify cheating on to accomplish their ends?

It is precisely the repeated revelations of cheating at debates, inciting violence at rallies, and collusion between the DNC and their dirty tricksters, that lead many Americans to believe — not unreasonably — that, given just a whiff of deniability, these same people would unhesitatingly attempt to rig the election.

Count on Hillary Clinton to respond as she always does: Deny any knowledge of the wrong doing, (because you see, you can’t actually prove that she actually saw fill-in-the-blank), blame someone else, (the Russians have become the Democrat’s iteration of “the dog ate my homework”), and distract the American people with the idea that there is a vast conspiracy out to get her (projection, anyone?)

When first caught, Brazile followed the same playbook, deflecting from the veracity of the emails and distracting with claims of persecution.

She wanted voters to think it's nothing but a dirty political trick to expose the ugly truth of such back-dealing, but in a different era this was called whistle-blowing and celebrated.

There is a whole cohort of politically powerful or connected people in Clinton’s orbit who apparently think rules and boundaries are for other people, not for them. Wikileaks, among others, is hoisting them on their own petard.

The American people have quite had it with this privileged, hypocritical crew. In one week, to paraphrase Michael Moore, watch many of them lob in a legal molatov cocktail called Donald J. Trump to blow up entire stinking the swamp.

Ch, I am aware of the fact that Nate Silver has stated the case as you stated it. And yet that does not detract from what I said in response to your use of the map you posted. Hillary is already winning -- barely (273)-- on that map, and we would have to assume that ALL of the red states shown there remain red--which much of the polling suggests will/may not be the case -- for Trump to win.

I will agree, however, that if Trump were to (continue to?) surge, that could be very problematic indeed for Clinton and her supporters.

But again, I refer you to the link at 9:33.

James - the article from NBC is nothing that I haven't read from others. But the fact of the matter is that they are simply wrong. In fact, they almost couldn't be "more wrong".

A projection such as this should not be made on who is marginally ahead or behind in specific states. Even it it was, the amount of ECV that have changed over the past week or so on RCP proves that Clinton's margin of error has decreased dramatically.

Being ahead in states offering 322 ECV is better than being ahead in states that offer 272 ELC. That (BY DEFINITION) means that her chances are not as good as they were a week ago.

All that being said, the fact is that other states (such as Colorado - showing two polls this week at 1 point and 3 points) have moved "towards" Trump.

So she went from being favored in states carrying 322 ECV
to being favored in states carrying 273 ECV

On top of that, several of the states she needs to carry 273 (and any one state can tip the election) the polls are tightening, and in some cases within the Margin of Error.

So her chances have gone down.... fairly dramatically (even if she is still favored by most accounts). Period. End of Subject. The NBC article is simply wrong on fact.

Early voting is by all accounts going well for Trump in Florida and no other poll (that I have seen) is suggesting that Clinton is ahead by large margins in early voting.

So Occam's Razor Roger?

Which theory has the least amount of assumptions:

1) That the vast majority of polls are right and that Trump is doing relatively well in early voting in Florida and has moved into a small lead.

2) That the vast majority of polls are incorrect, because they have not picked up on the fact that about 3 in 10 Republicans are voting for Clinton in Florida? A fact that "has" been picked up on by a pollster that 538 does not even ranked because there is no past data - but simply missed by all other pollsters.

Florida poll: 28 percent of GOP early voters picked Clinton

More than a quarter of Republicans who have already voted in Florida cast their ballots for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, according to a new poll.
A TargetSmart/William & Mary poll released Tuesday showed 28 percent of early Florida voters picked Clinton over GOP nominee Donald Trump. The poll, which will be released in full Wednesday, was shared early with MSNBC.

WASHINGTON
Democrat Hillary Clinton enjoys an eight-point lead over Donald Trump in Florida, a key presidential battleground, according to a new survey, and that’s due in no small part to significant crossover support from 28 percent of early voting Republicans.

The poll, by TargetSmart, a political data firm, and the College of William and Mary, was first reported Tuesday night on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell. It will be released Wednesday.

TargetSmart CEO Tom Bonier said on the show that its tracking survey of early voters in Florida, combined with its projections for likely voters, found that Clinton led Republican nominee Trump in the state, 48-40 percent. He said 28 percent of early voting Republicans cast ballots for her, while just six percent of Democrats who voted early sided with Trump.

Bonier said the results were “challenging the conventional wisdom of what we’ve seen so far.” Clinton, he said, “was performing incredibly strong with registered Republican voters.”

The survey was taken largely before the news last Friday that the FBI had renewed its inquiry into Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. Some polls have shown a slight tightening of the race since then, including in Florida.

By all accounts, its 29 electoral votes are crucial if he is to have a chance to reach the 270 necessary to win the White House. Most analysts say Clinton has more routes to that number than Trump and can without Florida in her column.

I disagree with that map with two differences. Because in a close election I'm keeping Clinton getting Florida and North Carolina. It's on the legacy page.

316-220

Either way, we will be swearing in the first woman President on January 20, 2017.

Answer, Yes.

American Combat Troops are Dying in Iraq. You know the War Obama successfully ended. What a joke being a progressive has become.

Huffinton Post Early this morning:

"1. The Clinton Foundation investigation is far more expansive than anybody has reported so far and has been going on for more than a year.

2. The laptops of Clinton aides Cherryl Mills and Heather Samuelson have not been destroyed, and agents are currently combing through them. The investigation has interviewed several people twice, and plans to interview some for a third time.

3. Agents have found emails believed to have originated on Hillary Clinton's secret server on Anthony Weiner's laptop. They say the emails are not duplicates and could potentially be classified in nature.

4. Sources within the FBI have told him that an indictment is "likely" in the case of pay-for-play at the Clinton Foundation, "barring some obstruction in some way" from the Justice Department.

5. FBI sources say with 99% accuracy that Hillary Clinton's server has been hacked by at least five foreign intelligence agencies, and that information had been taken from it."

Is Huffpo done covering up for the Clinton's?

that seems like a philosophical question, like -

is a cat ever really done covering up a turd in the litter box?

As always , you are so funny.

Exactly, Hillary/Huma is a story the continues to grow and get bigger.

Huma has Classified documents on her laptop. That is after lying to the FBI, we would have already been criminally charged, she said she gave the FBI all of her electronic devices.

On the Wikileak information, we do not know how long they had that data before they released it.

2nd new poll out with Trump ahead in NC.

We are now learning that Clinton/Huma criminal connection goes very deep into the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.

The FBI has Two separate Criminal Cases open, Both on Hillary.

1, The Emails that exposed national security to unknown bad Hombres

2, The Bill/Hillary/Chelsea Crime Family Foundation and the pay for play that , that money bought. They sold the USA to enrich themselves.

Note, They got rich from the foundation.

And another thing, all you wet dreamers out there that want to see the IRS private Records of Trumps Tax Filings, go pound sand, you are not going to. I hope this puts an end to this non-sense.

Did you Know?

Madam Yellen yesterday again declined to raise Federal Bank Lending Rates, two reasons, first the economy is feared to be too weak to take the hit that higher rates would cause

And two, it would cause the US National Deficit to rise faster as debt serving would rise.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Over 60 % of US Home Mortgages are owned by O'Hillary, it happened in 2012, when the two biggest crap buckets of Freddie/Fannie grab ever more of the private housing mortgages. The estimated 5 Trillion held by those two US Tax Payer backed institutions is growing, more defaults then ever and this is what some of you are voting for wanting more.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
O'HillaryCare has imploded taking with it the personal finances of 10's of Millions of Americans. The Damage to home budgets is only now being seen because this can no longer be hidden , as hard as the US Steno Press attempted to.

The conservative case for voting for Hillary Clinton.

The Atlantic

What we should all foresee is that a President Trump will certainly try to realize Washington’s nightmare. He must not be allowed to try.

That Donald Trump has approached so near the White House is a bitter reproach to everybody who had the power to stop him. I include myself in this reproach. Early on, I welcomed Trump’s up-ending of some outdated Republican Party dogmas—taking it for granted that of course such a ridiculous and obnoxious fraud could never win a major party’s nomination. But Trump did win. Now, he stands within a percentage point or two or at most four of the presidency of the United States.

Having failed to act promptly at the outset, it’s all the more important to act decisively before it’s too late. The lesson Trump has taught is not only that certain Republican dogmas have passed out of date, but that American democracy itself is much more vulnerable than anyone would have believed only 24 months ago. Incredibly, a country that—through wars and depression—so magnificently resisted the authoritarian temptations of the mid-20th century has half-yielded to a more farcical version of that same threat without any of the same excuse. The hungry and houseless Americans of the Great Depression sustained a constitutional republic. How shameful that the Americans of today—so vastly better off in so many ways, despite their undoubted problems—have done so much less well.

I have no illusions about Hillary Clinton. I expect policies that will seem to me at best counter-productive, at worst actively harmful. America needs more private-market competition in healthcare, not less; lighter regulation of enterprise, not heavier; reduced immigration, not expanded; lower taxes, not higher. On almostevery domestic issue, I stand on one side; she stands on the other. I do not imagine that she will meet me, or those who think like me, anywhere within a country mile of half-way.

But she is a patriot. She will uphold the sovereignty and independence of the United States. She will defend allies. She will execute the laws with reasonable impartiality. She may bend some rules for her own and her supporters’ advantage. She will not outright defy legality altogether. Above all, she can govern herself; the first indispensable qualification for governing others.

So I will vote for the candidate who rejects my preferences and offends my opinions. (In fact, I already have voted for her.) Previous generations accepted infinitely heavier sacrifices and more dangerous duties to defend democracy. I’ll miss the tax cut I’d get from united Republican government. But there will be other elections, other chances to vote for what I regard as more sensible policies. My party will recover to counter her agenda in Congress, moderate her nominations to the courts, and defeat her bid for re-election in 2020. I look forward to supporting Republican recovery and renewal.

Anyone who votes for someone who he disagrees with on policy, on politics and on principles, and yet believes that he isn't supporting that person with his vote is a fool.

Clinton cares about nothing beyond her self-aggrandizement. It is not possible for such a person to be a patriot, nor may such people govern effectively. A president like that is worth less than nothing, because a person governing in her own exclusive self-interest, having contempt for the rule of law, can have no redeeming qualities as far as the Nation is concerned.

Frum has no principles except the principle of power.

He has no loyalties except the one to his class.

That's why he finds it as easy to vote for Hillary Clinton as he would any country club Republican he thinks can win.
