Putinphobia

Let's be clear here folks. Putin is not a good guy. Over the past few years, he has invaded his neighbors, annexed countries, blown up commercial airplanes, funded terrorists, worked against our interests in Syria, have been accused of hacking the White House and the military.

For the most part, this action was met with a collective shrug from our President, and other high level Government officials.

But now that there is accusations that they hacked the DNC and Clinton campaigns (or shall we say, accusations that they helped themselves to the emails that the DNC  was so kind enough to provide for anyone wanting to take them)... it has prompted the President to act.

Again, military invasions, terror connections, the shooting down of commercial airlines? No big deal. But possibly taking sides in our election (something we have been doing with other countries for as long as anyone can remember)... prompts a reaction.

Four years ago, Democrats made fun of Mitt Romney for suggesting that Putin and Russia should be considered troublesome geopolitical foes. Back then "the eighties called and wanted their foreign policy back".  Today, Democrats have what amounts to Putinphobia, and have officially declared Putin to be the devil reincarnated. Their lack of perspective as to what is currently driving this, is a glimpse into why they are struggling as a Party.

Yeah... Reagan never would have tried to work with Gorbachev. Oh wait, Reagan did actually work with Gorbachev. I guess Reagan didn't understand how Reagan was supposed to act.

I knew you would bring him up. The circumstances are so different, that's not a valid reason to justify the way Trump is tweeting this.

My line of thought on this is that Putin wanted Trump to win, not because of his hatred of Clinton. I think that he believes that he can end up getting everything he wants. Trump probably doesn't know the centuries old ambition to again, gain back the Russian empire.

From what I've been seeing, that he's not likely to think that other people, know more than he does. And he will follow his impulses, not logical conclusions based upon complexity. His impulsive behavior on Twitter, should make you think that he's going to be dangerous. And Putin will get what he wants, that will not be in our best interest.

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered an intelligence operation against the U.S. presidential campaign and ultimately sought to help Donald Trump win the White House, according to a new U.S. intelligence report released Friday, shortly after the president-elect appeared to dismiss its key findings.

Putin both “aspired to help” Trump in November and to “harm” Trump’s rival, Democratic nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with leaks of pilfered emails and other covert activities, the report concludes in a dramatic expansion of official U.S. accusations against the Kremlin.

The report depicts the Russian operation as unprecedented, saying that an aggressive mix of digital thefts and leaks, fake news and propaganda represented “a significant escalation in directness, level of activity, and scope of effort” against a U.S. election campaign.

Moscow’s goals “were to undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency,” the report states. “We further assess Putin and the Russian government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump.”

They “aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton,” the report adds.

U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies found no evidence that hackers tampered with actual voting or with counting ballots on election day.

But in a startling new assertion, it says Russian intelligence “obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple US state or local electoral boards,” adding that Russian spies began collecting information on equipment used in U.S. elections in early 2014.

The 14 pages released offer a largely circumstantial case rather than hard evidence of Putin’s direct involvement, and mostly focus on Russian propaganda efforts. But the full report remains classified, and the public portion does not include the specific intelligence.

Still, the rare release of a major intelligence assessment marks a sharp escalation in what has become a bare-knuckle fight between Trump and the U.S. intelligence community, backed by President Obama, over the president-elect’s repeated derision of their understanding of Russia’s role.

Intelligence officials had planned to declassify the key findings next week after briefing members of Congress. But the declassified summary was rushed out Friday afternoon shortly after Trump had been briefed on the full report — and had made clear he was not convinced.

In a statement, Trump conflated the Russian cyberattacks with those of other countries and individuals, and said the hacking had “absolutely no effect” on the election.

“While Russia, China, other countries, outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of our governmental institutions, businesses and organizations including the Democrat National Committee, there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election, including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines,” Trump said after he was briefed by four U.S. intelligence chiefs at his office in New York.

Earlier Friday, in an interview with the New York Times, Trump had called the focus on election-related hacking a “political witch hunt” by his adversaries, who he said were embarrassed by their loss in November.

The growing dispute has become a sore point for Trump’s transition team and a worry for Republicans on Capitol Hill who are convinced that Moscow had a malign role and fear Trump’s presidency will get off to a shaky start.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) acknowledged the predicament Friday, noting that Russia “clearly tried to meddle in our political system.”

But he warned that Democrats might try to use the intelligence report to undermine Trump’s mandate in the White House. “We cannot allow partisans to exploit this report in an attempt to delegitimize the president-elect’s victory,” Ryan said.

Democrats Decry Russia Influencing U.S. Election. FLASHBACK: Obama Admin Funds Group That Tries to Influence Israeli Election.

The CIA's allegation that Russian hackers attempted to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election in favor of Donald Trump has resulted in hysteria from Democrats, who have jumped on the theory as another means of explaining away the historic upset of the formerly "inevitable" Hillary Clinton. But before the Democrats get too carried away, a quick reminder: a bipartisan congressional report concluded that a non-profit funded by the Obama State Department attempted to influence the 2015 Israeli election to oust conservative Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a vocal critic of the Iran deal.

After an extensive investigation, a bipartisan Senate subcommittee issued a report in July of this year stating that the non-profit organization OneVoice, which had received hundreds of thousands in taxpayer money from the State Department, had actively campaigned against Netanyahu during the 2015 Israeli election.

Federal workers nationwide are bracing for reductions in head counts, civil service protections and salaries when President-elect Donald Trump and Congress turn their attention to government spending later this year.

Trump, who ran on a promise to "drain the swamp," has identified hiring freezes at most federal agencies as a top priority for his early days in office. Republican lawmakers, many of whom have long advocated for reducing Washington's workforce, are looking to cut benefits and make it easier to fire poor performers.

The threats and preliminary steps taken by Congress have created anxiety for many of the government's 2.1 million employees.

Remember that is not the only time this President interfered.

"And on that matter, for example, I think it’s fair to say that maybe some point down the line there might be a UK-US trade agreement, but it’s not going to happen any time soon because our focus is in negotiating with a big bloc, the European Union, to get a trade agreement done”.

He added: “The UK is going to be in the back of the queue.”

He has a legacy of being against the people of the Nations that our are Friends.

There is a word missing from the non-classified report issued Friday, in which three intelligence agencies assess “Russia’s Influence Campaign Targeting the 2016 US Presidential Election.” The FBI, CIA, and NSA elide any mention of . . . “Podesta.”

Seems like a pretty significant omission — not just because of how the 2016 campaign played out but also in light of the intelligence community’s recent history of politicizing its analyses.

The report is replete with references to Russian “cyber espionage,” “covert intelligence,” “false-flag,” “propaganda,” and “influence” operations by which Vladimir Putin is alleged to have tried to put his thumb on the electoral scale. Very sinister stuff, to be sure. But when the public hears these terms, it thinks of spies, misdirection, disinformation campaigns — i.e., schemes intended to deceive the target audience. People don’t instantly think, “Oh, you mean an effort to publicize true but embarrassing information”; they don’t read “covert operation” and say to themselves, “That must mean they subjected only one side of a political contest to a high level of scrutiny.” That’s the kind of behavior people associate with the American media, not the Kremlin.

Funny Paulie, the article also does not mention that the podesta e-mails were stolen, published without his permission and were embraced by trump, which is okay for you and your kind. Oh well, it'a to your benefit to think that national review embraces hacking for political gain. Oh well
