Anti-Trump experts confused by Trump intentions...

Herein lies the biggest disconnect between many Trump critics and reality.  It would appear that most everyone one of these critics pretty much assumes that Donald Trump is trying to please them, and of course, failing miserably in the process.

I understand, to some degree why they believe this. It's becomes sort of a self-importance circular chain of events. Trump does or says something that his critics jump on. They demand that whatever was done or said, was quite likely the worst thing that any politician has ever done or said in history, and for sure this is the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back.

Invariably, these same reporters start reporting how the more "reasonable" people in the Trump administration are upset, trying to get him to change, do the right thing, etc, etc. They quote some former Obama administrator or someone else they deem to be credible agrees that Trump is being unreasonable. They may even throw in some never-Trumper like Bill Kristol who agrees with them just for good measure.

Sometimes, Trump may even come back and do something differently (such as the carefully crafted second statement regarding Charlottesville where he specifically condemned White Supremacists). This, no doubt, makes these people believe that he is giving into the exact reasonable behavior they expect because he desperately wants and needs their approval.

But the he goes off to Arizona (in spite of calls for him not to) gives a campaign style rally (where thousands lined up to see him) and these same critics act like he suddenly lost his mind again.

But the reality is obvious. Donald Trump did not get elected by pleasing his liberal critics, the never-Trumpers, or former Obama administration officials. If he had, he'd be a private citizen right now, probably renegotiating a new run on the Apprentice. He got elected by appealing to the people who came to Arizona to watch him give a campaign style speech. He got elected by pretty much doing little else than pissing off the liberal media, the never-Trumpers, and the former government officials.

Crazy? Not when it works.

Well, there you go again I'm not it I'm not surprised.

But the real story is the fact that your hero is uniting the Republicans against him.

The threat to shut down the government if the wall is not funded is being attacked by Ryan and McConnell right now it's not going to happen. And not only that what happened to the promise sees it all Mexico is going to pay for that we're not going to have to pay for it Mexico is. Would you really really really worried about how people don't proceed the president how you see him now you see him.

This is live on television right now so you think I'm being influenced on how I think know. I'm watching the president make his presidency the biggest disaster in the history of the United States of America. It's nobody else's fault but him. It's not how other perceive him it's how he is. Look at this guy. He makes two different speeches two different days and one is red off the script and it looks responsible and the next one is completely off-the-wall insane and then you say we are being influenced by the media what you call fake which is a lie that we don't understand how really how he is. I know how he is Sir sometimes I'm beginning to wonder well I'm not going to take into that I'm not going to go there. But my God! Shutting down the government is not the proper way to govern. In the fact is he does not have the power to do that because he does not control the money. That is the Congress the Senate and the house the appropriate money actually directed The Way It Is spent. And if they tell him to shove it up his ass that's what he can do. You're on your own on this one you lost big time and you don't understand it and never will.

perhaps that entire statement would make more sense if you switched the two Parties and left out the part where there is some sort of goal to...

Who could, btw, simply veto any legislation that doesn't follow what the GOP campaigned on to actually win so "bigly"... as to put the Democratic Party in the worst electoral position in a century!

There you go again saying that the Press is anti-American and anti-trump by default. Posting the pictures and the recordings of what he says and then post the next ones when they are completely different. The ones when he's waiting on his own or Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry because anybody that disagrees with him is wrong. Sometimes like you a little bit. But look at the two he gave that very responsible speech and then what do you do follow up the next day and Phoenix an hour and a half of rage anger and distortions and a pack of lies and omissions of certain word that you just don't care about like both sides of matter both sides matter yes both sides don't matter like that. We've discussed that before we disagree but that's fine. But this is not right he's going to shut down the government and over his freaking wall which is based on racism.
Just like his birther stuff that you didn't seem to care about because it is deeply racist at its core and you still don't find a problem with it.

The First Amendment and the freedom of speech and the freedom of press are the foundations of the Republic for which we stand. He is in effect trying to distort and in fact destroy the press. If he persuades a significant number of Americans that the Free Press is anti-American we have to wonder what the hell will happen. They could be going to the thing like you can't shout fire in a crowded theater. That is one of the few restrictions on freedom of press. Or freedom of speech anyhow. If he had any way of doing it I think he would make it prosecutable if somebody said something negative about him. Cuz you know how angry he gets whenever people criticize him or find him inaccurate in other words of lying. He won't do that because he can't the center will hold. Even if that was used by Richard Nixon has he tried to survive Watergate but the truth is the center will stand. Even if you would like to destroy the foundations in order to protect Donald J Trump from criticism and proof of his lies and his mental illness that is getting more and more evident every single day. Have a good day boy knows Dias amigo it's better. And by the way yes no you don't care maybe you do but my recovery is going superbly. It is not a waste as rrb claim. It's even an expression of "free speech" to call the President of the United states a bigot, a crazy man, a creep, or whatever you want.

- It doesn't mean that calling someone a name is a reasonable manner to discuss politics.

The National Park Service on Wednesday issued a First Amendment permit and paved the way for a right-wing rally at Crissy Field on Saturday, drawing the ire of San Francisco leaders.

A group called Patriot Prayer is holding a "Freedom Rally San Francisco" from 2 to 5 p.m. According to the group's permit application, the rally will feature live music, need a sound system and a generator, and be free to the public. Organizers are expected to begin setting up around 11 a.m. and finish tearing down by 6 p.m.

As of Wednesday, just under 400 people plan to attend the rally, while more than 1,000 are interested, according to a Facebook event page. Dozens of counter-protests, with clowns, dancing and sheetcake, are also being organized around San Francisco.

At a news conference Wednesday, the city's Mayor Ed Lee said, "I remain deeply disappointed and opposed to the issuance of this permit."

According to the San Jose Mercury News Patriot Prayer in not a White Supremacist or Neo-Nazi group.

Even the SPLC doesn't list them as a hate group and we all know the SPLC has a very broad definition of what a hate group.

So the only thing objectionable to the leftist leaders of San Francisco is their politics.

This is why they should never be in power.

Reporters grilled White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday over why President Donald Trump had threatened a government shutdown over border security funding.

At a press briefing, ABC News chief White House Correspondent John Karl noted that Trump had “promised over and over” that Mexico would pay for a border wall. “So why is he now threatening a government shutdown if Congress won’t pay for it?”

“He campaigned on the wall. He won on talking about building a wall. And he’s going to make sure that that gets done and he’ll continue to fight for that funding and ensure that it takes place,” Sanders replied.

Later in the press briefing, Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan asked how a government shutdown over the border would affect the economy. “If there is a government shutdown, people could be laid off for a moment or some people could lose their jobs,” she noted.

“I’m not going to get into the weeds on that,” Sanders deflected. “But I know that the president is probably one of the strongest presidents we’ve had on economic issues. there’s a reason that over 1 million jobs have been created since he took office.”

If you want to see the “dialogue” that preceded the assault check this much longer video clip. Speaking to Fox 11, Maxwell pointed out that under different circumstances this local news story would be running on a loop at CNN:

“If the optics were completely different and I was a black lives matter supporter and I was attacked on the Trump side of a protest I would be in the spotlight on CNN right now,” Maxwell said. “I went over to the left side to see if I could engage them with dialogue and I was instantly encircled by the so called anti fascists.”

“I was in a pinball machine full of Antifa, it was a little scary but I was being bold and not adversarial,” Maxwell said. “You just wanted to ask me a couple questions about what was happening and we couldn’t even conduct an interview. “Dialogue is being shut down and free speech is being attacked and it’s being attacked by so called peaceful protesters under the name anti fascists.”

He’s not wrong. After Charlottesville, the media is clearly primed for stories about right-wing violence. They remain curiously disinterested in evidence that some on the left are also engaged in political violence.

Well here you go with Kevin drum. I know how you hate that but I don't want it much but he's pretty good with his Obamacare stuff and you don't like it but he's got the truth and that's the way it works. tough s***

It’s official. Every county in America will have at least one insurer participating in the Obamacare exchanges in 2018. Bloomberg reports that “Based on the latest data, most of the 12 million people who got health insurance through Obamacare’s individual marketplaces will have the same number of companies to choose among next year as they did in 2017.” Half of all enrollees will have three or more insurers to choose from, and 77 percent of enrollees will have two or more:

I’m sure this news is breaking some hearts in Washington. The fact that everyone will get coverage and premiums will go up only slightly for the vast majority of consumers might seem like good news to ordinary people like you and me. But Paul Ryan and Donald Trump were really, really hoping that a lot of people wouldn’t get coverage this year. They were really, really hoping for a vast amount of human misery so they could say they told us so. Then they could take away coverage from millions. Because that’s how Republicans roll these days.

A major insurer run by New York State’s largest medical provider is pulling out of Obamacare because of massive losses, the company announced Thursday.

Northwell Health (the former North Shore-Long Island Jewish medical center network ) blamed a flawed provision in the Affordable Care Act — and the lack of action in Washington to fix it — as the culprits for winding down its CareConnect insurance company.

CareConnect enrolled 14 percent of firms in New York’s small group market and 8 percent of customers in the individual ObamaCare market — mostly on Long Island and in New York City.

The firm said it had to pay $112 million last year into a risk-insurance pool created to prop up insurers that had a disproportionate number of high-risk or money-losing clients.

The pool was designed to prevent insurers from “cherry picking” younger and healthier customers who are less expensive to cover.

But the high payments were bankrupting CareConnect — formed in 2013 — and becoming a financial drain on its parent company, Northwell.

The company is New York State’s largest health care provider, with 22 hospitals and 550 outpatient facilities.

The payments to the risk-adjustment pool accounted for 44 percent of CareConnect’s revenue in 2016.

It would have to make another risk-adjustment payment of $100 million next year.

“It has become increasingly clear that continuing the CareConnect health plan is financially unsustainable, given the failure of the federal government and Congress to correct regulatory flaws that have destabilized insurance markets and their refusal to honor promises of additional funding,” said Northwell CEO Michael Dowling.

No Bare Counties: All U.S. Counties to Have Marketplace Options Next Year
August 24, 2017
Ohio's Department of Insurance announced Thursday that CareSource will sell marketplace plans next year in the state's last potentially “bare” county. Paulding County had been at risk of having no marketplace insurers next year after Anthem, its sole insurer this year, exited the state's marketplace.

Earlier this summer, 19 other counties in Ohio, as well as counties in states including Nevada, Indiana and Missouri, faced the possibility of having no insurer next year. Insurers have since filed to sell plans in all of those areas.

2018 Marketplace Participation
Data as of August 24, 2017
Every summer, insurance companies are required to submit their Affordable Care Act marketplace plans for the upcoming year to state insurance agencies. Companies are still deciding where to offer plans in 2018—and how much to charge for them. Each year some companies exit, some expand and others stay put. Bloomberg News is analyzing these filings as they’re released and speaking with insurers and state agencies to learn how the marketplaces are shaping up for 2018.

Based on the latest data, most of the 12 million people who got health insurance through Obamacare’s individual marketplaces will have the same number of companies to choose among next year as they did in 2017. These maps will change as insurers finalize their plans before signing contracts in the fall.

New York State’s biggest hospital system plans to stop selling Obamacare plans, blaming a costly plank of the law and uncertain prospects for a fix amid a wider Washington brawl over health care.

Northwell Health said in a statement that it will wind down its four-year-old CareConnect Insurance Co. business over the next year, after it suffered financial losses linked to a program designed to steady the exchanges where consumers can buy coverage.

The hospital system also said that uncertainty around the fate of the Affordable Care Act had clouded its business prospects, contributing to its decision to pull down the shutters.

“It has become increasingly clear that continuing the CareConnect health plan is financially unsustainable, given the failure of the federal government and Congress to correct regulatory flaws that have destabilized insurance markets and their refusal to honor promises of additional funding,” said Michael J. Dowling, Northwell’s chief executive officer.
