So which branch is really incompetent and which is really out of control?

Another day, another story about how Senators and House Reps are unhappy with the behavior of the President. This reminds me of the old saying... those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

There is no doubt that there is some degree of "chaos" at the White House right now. How much of that is "controlled chaos" that seems to follow Trump around like that cloud of dust following pig pen is really unclear. But the reality is that there is little doubt that this is a major distraction, although probably over-hyped and overused as an excuse.

The truth is that if you are grading objectively here (without worrying too much about style points) the White House is the least of our concerns. Congress hasn't been able to pass go and collect $200 - much less pass any major legislation. Meanwhile, the court system has gone completely off it's collective rocker, as District Judges cite Washington Post articles to oppose our Intelligence community consensus and others openly admit that they are willing to change longstanding legal precedent because of who is President.

Optics aside, the President has issued several executive orders, he has submitted dozens of Judges and Appointees to the Senate, and has reengaged many of our traditional allies in his first six months. In terms of the promises that still unfulfilled, the President still must rely on congress to pass laws. The executive is limited by the constitution.

Meanwhile, after sending numerous ACA repeal plans to the former President for veto, many of these same Congress members suddenly cannot find it in themselves to vote for the same repeal when it counts. They are slow moving Judges and Appointees, and have accomplished almost nothing, other than undermining their own authority and reinforcing why their approvals are plunging into the single digit territory.

Perhaps instead of worrying about what the President is up to, Congress should simply get their own act together. Those who live in glass houses and throw stones... may find themselves with bigger problems that broken glass... they may find themselves out of office.

General Kelly told the White House staff to put the country before Trump. He is an American Hero.

C.H. Truth said...

Roger - Kelly said that:

he expects everyone working in the White House to put country first, the president second, and their own needs and priorities last.

Seems fair to me.

I have to be more careful because I used the microphone.

The reason behind the failure and total disruption of the government in Washington DC is President Donald J Trump. If he had any real connections within the Republican Party including the conservatives which are really revolting and in numbers he might get his agenda passed. But his behavior is irresponsible and what else you want to call it. he's crazy.

Did you look at his list of tweets again this morning after General Kelly tried to tell him to shut the hell up no he didn't do it. He went on to attack the New York Times and call on the fake news and all that other BS that you seem to buy now. This is Donald J Trump.

He is trying to govern using Twitter.

He is conducting Foreign Affairs using Twitter!

You always find a way to give an excuse for Donald J Trump and trying lay the boy on others instead of letting your mind to think about the possibility he's incorrect but you have not been able to do that for months.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

We agree on that one hundred percent. It is completely responsible on that is the way it's supposed to work law Realty to the president is not supposed to be number one the Constitution and the rule of law is what they are responsible for not making excuses for the irresponsible comments via Twitter.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I still think that the President is the major problem. Go back to the days of the civil rights and voting rights era. LbJ had influence in the congress, and if someone went against him he would go after them without mercy, and with the exception of the DixxiCrats, he was able to get both laws passed, despite opposition in much in many states. He was also able to get the Republicans to work with him.

Donald J. Trump has no influence in the congress, where both houses are in the control of the party he is "supposed" to be the leader. He always revers the Republicans as "them " instead of "Us". He is attempting to build a Trump party, loyal to him, not the Constitution and the rule of law.

Look back at the last two Presidents. Obama failed to get help from the Republicans on anythhng but he was able to get most of his agenda passed.

W was able to get bi partisan support for his tax cuts and the permission to invade Iraq He got improvement on prescriptions on Medicare. His attempt to privatize it went down in flames because he did not understand the support for it He also never addressed the transition costs.

But both were far more effective, because they had support within their parties, bur not mr Trump. He's a failure and you should be able to admit his failures..

In anticipation of "spam by the alky"

1,900 days.

This is a serious thread. D.C. Is dysfunctional. Blame goes to both sides. But this "unique" President, in my not so humble opinion, he is the major reason right now. His failure to get his own party to work with him, is the problem today.

C.H. Truth said...

I noticed you listed Bush's bi-partisan legislative successes...

But you didn't list any of Obama's bi-partisan legislative successes...

I checked on a website that "ranks" Presidential Accomplishments. Specifically checked out Obama:

http://www.ranker.com/list/rank-president-obama_s-enacted-policies/keaton?var=2&utm_expid=16418821-311.AAszGoDYQ7WZsue0Bhz6ww.1&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bing.com%2F

Almost none of them included actual legislation... all the bills listed (that he signed into law) were from 2010 or earlier. They were almost all executive actions or revocations of previous Presidential actions.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Read carefully

Obama failed to get help from the Republicans on anything but he was able to get most of his agenda passed.

I should have noted that happened before the 2010 mid terms.

I had a problem with the computer, it had been hacked and the web browser had been hacked. I had a bunch of shit to do. Mayware found 1,100 issues. I isolated them The Firefox browser is back to normal. I just had to shut down the touch pad because it was making my screen jump all over the place.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

But the Republicans were not ready to cooperate from day one.Only a few months, they made their agenda, to make sure Obama didn't win a second term. So Obama had no reason to believe that they would be willing to work with him on anything. So both sides have a lot to play, but right now it is the Trump Party that is the problem.

Now we are also seeing extremist groups threatening a "civil war" if Trump is removed from office. Check out InfoWar.com, he's claiming that blood will flow.

“Ed Rendell, who has criticized the president (objecting, for example, to the Obama campaign's attack on private equity), also argues that Obama has been constrained by an unprecedented obduracy in his Republican opposition. ‘I can't ever recall a newly elected president being faced with the leader of the other party's caucus saying “Our No. 1 priority is to make this president a one-term president,”’ says Rendell, citing the remark made by Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, that exemplified the fierce partisanship that has attended Obama's tenure. ‘That McConnell would say that in the first nine months of Barack Obama's tenure is absolutely stunning, disgraceful, disgusting — you name the term.’”

Well Opie...

How about a President being elected, and immediately the opposition goes to work to actually try to get him removed from office. Impeachment legislation, talk of 25th amendment, etc... etc...

I guess it's only considered offensive if you want to actually want to elect someone from your Party President... but not so much trying to undermine a sitting President and have him removed from office (because you don't like the election results).

The Facts

McConnell made his remarks in an interview that appeared in the National Journal on Oct. 23, 2010 — nearly two years after Obama was elected president. The interview took place on the eve the of the midterm elections. The interview is relatively short, so we will print it in its entirety, with key portions highlighted.

That's the first time it was in public. Rush Limbaugh, who was more influential in the past, said that. But the bottom line, bitch, is they never, ever cooperated with him.

Both sides are guilty, but it's getting worse. 95% of the problem is the President. From his eight years birther nonsense, to his daily lies.

Many Republicans are not going to suffer from the Presidency for long. Because he has no credibility, they are backing off, regularly. He isn't going to pass his agenda passed, and will not have a second term.

CH is probably right, but there might be something about Russian coercion.

ALEX JONES (HOST): Trump is so fire-breathing, so energetic, so cunning, so real, and he’s having results so amazing that it just makes me endeared to Trump – I’m ready to die for Trump, at this point. And I’m already ready to die for America, it’s the same feeling I have for America, because he is America, you’re America.

It’s the same way I get endeared to people I know that have fought hard and lost legs or arms for this country and just how hard working and good they are and how compared to the average person who’s lazy and doesn’t care, I just feel humble to be around those type of people.

Because I study policy; I’m a policy wonk. And I know that Trump and [Stephen] Bannon really know what are happening – what’s happening, they’re really trying to cut taxes, they’re really trying to get loans to small businesses, they’re really trying to get us out of carbon taxes and Obamacare, and they’re doing it, they’re delivering. And it’s so well thought out; it’s so good. I’ve studied history, I’ve covered politics for 25 years, 21 on air. And I’ve never seen anything like this. This is bigger than 1776 if Trump can deliver.

And then I see all the news -- I’ve got articles today, “Ha ha, there’s tens of thousands of bureaucrats that are going to leak everything you’re doing militarily and sabotage you.” That’s called treason. That’s executionable.”

There you go Loretta. Be ready to die for Trump, or you will be executed for treason.

Well Opie... in every election approximately half of Americans are disappointed that their favorite candidate didn't win.

If not liking the person who is elected is reason enough in your mind to make every effort to have them impeached or otherwise removed from office...

Then how is it that you can possibly be offended that certain conservatives and Republicans were out to win back the Presidency in 2012?

Seems like a giant hypocrisy of it's okay when "you" act on your dislike, but not okay when others do so...

C.H. Truth said...

That's ridiculous, Roger...

I would argue that Partisanship and undermining our leaders has been going on long before Trump got into office, and that the general concept that it's okay for Americans to not "accept" election results (going all the way back to 2000)... is the fuel that powers this engine.

To blame Trump even marginally for this attitude can only be reasoned by completely ignoring everything that has happened to our Presidents over the past 24 years (Clinton, Bush, Obama).

The only thing Trump can be reasonably blamed for is his exceptional ability to get under the skin of people like yourself, and drive you into a stark raving mad lunatic.

And if you had a working brain, you would know what I said, and that was not it. Once again, make shit up to fit your bias,,,,I've always have thought trump to be an unmitigated asshole and have been assaulted by his BS while living in the NE, his performances on the How Stern show were a peek into his inner workings and showed nothing but a womanizer in love with himself, just like you CH. Sad how you have drunk the swamp water of trump and can't see past the disaster in chief....even polls are showing the exit of R's from the trump band wagon and those voters who wanted to give him a chance are now seeing the mistake they made. You are not one of them since your brainwashing goes deep......

Haley decries leaks after Trump tweets Fox story
BY ROBIN EBERHARDT - 08/08/17 10:05 AM EDT 319

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley lashed out at leaks of classified information in a Fox News story Tuesday morning on North Korean missiles, saying it is “incredibly dangerous” that it was reported, even after President Trump tweeted out the story.

The story used anonymous sources to report that North Korea loaded anti-ship missiles onto a patrol boat near the coast, something that Haley refused to confirm or comment on because it is “classified information.”

Her comments on "Fox & Friends" bashing the spread of classified information come after Trump retweeted the article that uses anonymous sources, though it is not clear whether she knew he shared the story.

“I can’t talk about anything that’s classified, and if that’s in the newspaper then that’s a shame,” Haley said.

She did not comment on whether the information in the story itself came from a leak, saying that leaks “have got to stop.”

“I don’t know what’s going on, but I will tell you it’s incredibly dangerous when things get out to the press like that,” she said. “You’re not only just getting a scoop on something, but you’re playing with people’s lives.

“Wherever the leaks are coming from, if someone thinks they’re getting power and fame from it, all you're doing is putting Americans in danger.”
