Attorney General Sessions to make announcement regarding DACA:

According to the two administration officials, here’s the policy to be announced later today:
  • The administration won’t consider new applications for legal status dated after Sept. 5.
  • If you are not already protected by the program, you are out of luck, although applications filed before Tuesday that are pending will continue to be processed.
  • Anyone who has a DACA permit expiring between now and March 5, 2018, can apply for a two-year renewal. That applic must be submitted by Oct. 5.
  • Some Dreamers, those with permits that expire between now and March 5, will be eligible for legal status for another two-plus years. For others, legal status ends as early as March 6.
But officials insist that even if Congress fails to enact new protection for the Dreamers, they will not be rounded up and deported. Officials say the priority for deportation will continue to be undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes.

Ronald Reagan did something very similar and the Republicans went nuts that he won and he was right. But no not here. No hack no because the base must be fed.

The Congress should pass a law that would make a path for them to get citizenship as long as they have not violated the laws. If they're violated the laws they should be tossed out on their ears right now. But we have almost 800,000 people who had no part on the decision to come to the country they were at the oldest ones were 16 years old many of them were under the age of 5. So most of them all they know being in America, and 95% of them are either working or in school. They're actually at a higher level of Education in the general population of the country.

Go ahead and look it up they're working their butt off and you want to throw them out.

They are contributing to the economy and they are not a threat to the United States not one bit. He made that claim today and that is just totally irrelevant and untrue it is a f****** lie.

I can't believe this stuff this is just Donald Trump they're trying to put this on the desk of the Congress but the thing is. Donald J Trump is the man pushing this thing down the line. Cuz he's got an obsessive disease to resending everything The Barack Obama did in his two terms.

I just saw an interview with a college student at Cal State Fullerton and Orange County California. He came here at 5 years old and is going to college and his to pursue a career in the United States. He's an American he is not living anywhere else and he has no place to go. He has no family in the other part of the country out of the country. This is appearing everywhere except perhaps on Fox. But even them have allowed dissenting views on sin a while not very often. This is wrong and every way you can look at it. These are not a danger to the country they are not a burden on the taxpayers they are taxpayers and they are running small businesses and paying taxes and everything else that normal Americans do. Now they want to throw almost 800,000 out of the country. This is wrong at every level to someone who has an operating brain

Everyone knows that former President Barack Obama, our Great American Constitutional Law Professor, got mercilessly schooled by the Supreme Court during his eight years in office. Now he is getting schooled by a brash-talking, orange-haired reality-TV star and real-estate developer from Queens.

I mean, this is humiliating. And so delicious to watch!

President Trump never took a single law class — at least not that we know of. Because if he had, Mr. Trump would surely find a way to remind us every time he wanted to strut his legal stuff. Anyway, Trump University didn’t even have a law school.

Yet, Mr. Trump effortlessly runs legal circles around the Great Law Lecturer Barack Obama when it comes to understanding the Constitution.

The same Constitution Mr. Obama spent years studying. The same Constitution that Mr. Trump hires people to study for him.

The same Constitution both men got elected to protect and uphold. The same Constitution Mr. Obama spray-painted graffiti all over and the same Constitution that Mr. Trump is — finally — rescuing.

Whether it was Obamacare or the Defense of Marriage Act or illegal immigration, Mr. Obama made Swiss cheese of the most vital document in the modern civilized world. The document that spawned the greatest force for freedom on the planet. The document that — ultimately — freed slaves. The document that guarantees equality under law.

Mr. Obama shredded it whenever it suited his twisted needs and perverted political greed.

When he summarily rewrote the nation’s immigration laws — legalizing millions of illegals — it came after years of even he, himself, insisting that the president had no such authority under the Constitution.

That he later crumpled the Constitution — knowingly — in a cynical political gambit to woo Hispanic voters reveals just how constitutionally debauched Mr. Obama really was.

Mr. Obama’s blithe ignorance and selfish disregard of the Constitution was laid bare by a comprehensive study earlier this year that revealed that the Great Constitutional Law Lecturer had been rebuked by the Supreme Court more than any president in at least 70 years. And that was because the professors conducting the study only went back 70 years.

And now, after eight years of Mr. Obama wagging his big legal finger at “Stupid America,” we finally have a president who actually understands the Constitution and means to uphold it.

C.H. Truth said...

Go ahead and defend it. I dare you.

It's simple Roger.

It was an illegal Executive Order that the court was going to overturn anyways.

Obama was taken to court previously on a very similar subject, because he wrote an Executive Order that basically provided illegal aliens with certain rights, privileges, etc...

His argument was that it was just an extension of his rights (as President) of prosecutorial discretion. As in, I am not going to otherwise prosecute or deport them, so I might as well give them certain rights.

Courts disagreed... as the argument was patently ridiculous.

But their "real" defense (where they thought they would prevail) was in their argument that nobody actually held "standing" to sue them. They argued that the actions (while everyone knew was patently illegal) were outside the boundaries of being questioned in court, because they caused nobody any real legal harm.

States disagreed... cited expenses associated with providing illegals the sort of rights that the President was giving them (without providing any means to pay for these expenses).

Courts agreed that the states had a right to sue.

Now there are 10 states suing on the issue of DACA - same arguments apply. There is literally no "legal" difference here. The only difference is political optics.
____________

So yes Roger... there is a legitimate argument to be made here. That the overturn of the Executive Order was just a matter of time, and better to do it sooner, rather than wait for more people to become wrapped up in the whole deal.

Besides, it puts a foot up the ass of congress... and will force them to actually try to accomplish something. You remember Congress, don't you? The ones who are supposed to write immigration laws???

One could actually say Trump did the DACA immigrants a favor. If a court did overturn it then the order would have been set aside immediately without any legal recourse.

That means these illegal immigrants would have been eligible for immediate deportation.

Now Trump made the issue moot with a gradual organized wind down that gives Congress the opportunity to consider its options.

He also called Graham and McCain's bluff, he didn't immediately end DACA and put the ball squarely in their court.

I got a call Friday from a man on the Cape named Curt. He wanted to tell me his own family’s experience with a “dreamer” in Florida last January.

“He murdered my daughter outside a bar in Naples,” Curt said. “They said he was a ‘Dreamer.’ She was 24. What about my daughter’s dreams? And her daughter’s – she left a 2-year-old girl. If you’re an American murdered by one of these people, I guess you don’t get to dream.”

Ever hear of an illegal Mexican “dreamer” named Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros? Probably not – the alt-left media gave her a good leaving alone after she ran over two little girls playing in a leaf pile in Oregon. She kept driving – to an auto-wash, to clean off the evidence of her hit-and-run. When the cops arrived, she lied to them.

This “dreamer” didn’t get deported, she didn’t even get a day in jail. For killing two little Americans. Es muy Bueno to be a Dreamer.

In its own way, DACA is as outrageous as any of the better-known Obama-era scandals – by Barry’s own public admission, 22 times, it was for him illegal to exempt a certain class of criminals from the consequences of their lawbreaking.

But he did, anyway. It was part of the fundamental transformation of America, into a banana republic.

These dreamers now claim to be very concerned about having to return to their Third World homelands, which is odd, considering how proudly they wave the flags of Mexico and similar tropical hellholes at their demonstrations (on weekdays, during business hours) demanding ever more handouts from Tio Sap.

But you can see why “dreamers” might be apprehensive about returning to some primitive culture where they actually might have to start obeying the law and working for a living while not receiving preferential treatment for whatever their thieving hearts desire.

Other than arrest reports, few surveys have been conducted of the DACA population, but one has been done online by a Harvard researcher, Robert G. Gonzales. According to the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), he thinks his respondents are better educated and well-off than the majority of illegals benefiting from the program.

CIS reports that 73 percent of Dreamers responding to the Harvard survey are from “low-income households,” which are defined as “qualifying for free lunch in high school.”

In other words, at least three quarters of the Dreamers are grabbing at least one kind of welfare. The old song has never been more true – “Everything Free in America.” At least if you’re a gangbanger, I mean dreamer.

This weekend they’re telling us how terrible us gringos are to even think about finally forcing them to go home and earn their own keep.

My question is, why would these wonderful MS-13 members, I mean dreamers, want to remain in such a xenophobic, nativist country? You’d think they’d be clamoring to be repatriated to Venezuela or Cuba or one of those other Latin workers’ utopias where racism and capitalism have been expunged, along with toilet paper.

Hey dreamers, adios! And… sweet dreams!

Obama calls decision to phase-out DACA 'cruel'

Former President Barack Obama calls President Donald Trump's decision to phase out the so-called DACA program "cruel" and "self-defeating."

The program has provided nearly 800,000 young immigrants a reprieve from deportation. The Trump administration announced Tuesday it's rescinding the program and leaving it to Congress to come up with an alternative.

Obama did not mention Trump by name in his statement but says a "shadow has been cast" over some of the nation's best and brightest young people. He says targeting them is wrong "because they have done nothing wrong."

Obama says it's up to members of Congress to act and he joins his voice with the majority of Americans who hopes Congress will step up.

this is what constitutes a "challenge" alky. times ten:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and officials from nine other states on Thursday urged the Trump administration to end an Obama-era program that’s allowed hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants to live and work in the country without fear of being deported.

In a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Paxton urged the White House to rescind the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program. DACA applies to undocumented immigrants that came to the country before they were 16 years old and were 30 or younger as of June 2012. It awards recipients a renewable, two-year work permit and a reprieve from deportation proceedings.

As of August 2016, more than 220,000 undocumented immigrants in Texas had applied for a permit or a renewal of one under the program, and nearly 200,000 of those have been approved, according to government statistics. It’s the second-highest total behind California’s estimated 387,000 applications and 359,000 approvals during the same time frame.

“We respectfully request that the Secretary of Homeland Security phase out the DACA program,” Paxton wrote. He was joined by the attorneys general of Arkansas, Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, as well as Idaho Gov. C.L. Otter.

“Specifically, we request that the Secretary of Homeland Security rescind the June 15, 2012 DACA memorandum and order that the Executive Branch will not renew or issue any new DACA or Expanded DACA permits in the future,” Paxton wrote.

Obama calls decision to phase-out DACA 'cruel'

The same Democrat controlled congress that shoved Obamacare down everybody's throat couldn't pass a DACA law for him to signed.

So he issued an executive order that constitutional expert Barack Obama said was illegal.

Feckless and hypocritical can't even begin to cover it.

Speaking with profound sanity, Barack Obama said...

Immigration can be a controversial topic. We all want safe, secure borders and a dynamic economy, and people of goodwill can have legitimate disagreements about how to fix our immigration system so that everybody plays by the rules.

But that’s not what the action that the White House took today is about. This is about young people who grew up in America – kids who study in our schools, young adults who are starting careers, patriots who pledge allegiance to our flag. These Dreamers are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper. They were brought to this country by their parents, sometimes even as infants. They may not know a country besides ours. They may not even know a language besides English. They often have no idea they’re undocumented until they apply for a job, or college, or a driver’s license.

Over the years, politicians of both parties have worked together to write legislation that would have told these young people – our young people – that if your parents brought you here as a child, if you’ve been here a certain number of years, and if you’re willing to go to college or serve in our military, then you’ll get a chance to stay and earn your citizenship. And for years while I was President, I asked Congress to send me such a bill.

That bill never came. And because it made no sense to expel talented, driven, patriotic young people from the only country they know solely because of the actions of their parents, my administration acted to lift the shadow of deportation from these young people, so that they could continue to contribute to our communities and our country. We did so based on the well-established legal principle of prosecutorial discretion, deployed by Democratic and Republican presidents alike, because our immigration enforcement agencies have limited resources, and it makes sense to focus those resources on those who come illegally to this country to do us harm.

Deportations of criminals went up. Some 800,000 young people stepped forward, met rigorous requirements, and went through background checks. And America grew stronger as a result.

What if our kid’s science teacher, or our friendly neighbor turns out to be a Dreamer? Where are we supposed to send her? To a country she doesn’t know or remember, with a language she may not even speak?

Let’s be clear: the action taken today isn’t required legally. It’s a political decision, and a moral question. Whatever concerns or complaints Americans may have about immigration in general, we shouldn’t threaten the future of this group of young people who are here through no fault of their own, who pose no threat, who are not taking away anything from the rest of us. They are that pitcher on our kid’s softball team, that first responder who helps out his community after a disaster, that cadet in ROTC who wants nothing more than to wear the uniform of the country that gave him a chance.

Kicking them out won’t lower the unemployment rate, or lighten anyone’s taxes, or raise anybody’s wages.

It is precisely because this action is contrary to our spirit, and to common sense, that business leaders, faith leaders, economists, and Americans of all political stripes called on the administration not to do what it did today. And now that the White House has shifted its responsibility for these young people to Congress, it’s up to Members of Congress to protect these young people and our future. I’m heartened by those who’ve suggested that they should. And I join my voice with the majority of Americans who hope they step up and do it with a sense of moral urgency that matches the urgency these young people feel.

Ultimately, this is about basic decency. This is about whether we are a people who kick hopeful young strivers out of America, or whether we treat them the way we’d want our own kids to be treated. It’s about who we are as a people – and who we want to be.

What makes us American is not a question of what we look like, or where our names come from, or the way we pray. What makes us American is our fidelity to a set of ideals – that all of us are created equal; that all of us deserve the chance to make of our lives what we will; that all of us share an obligation to stand up, speak out, and secure our most cherished values for the next generation. That’s how America has traveled this far. That’s how, if we keep at it, we will ultimately reach that more perfect union.

As we get ready to find out exactly what the Trump administration has planned for DACA — we’re hearing the president will kick the can down the road for 6 months — here’s a great thread to read from lawyer Eric Columbus who worked for team Obama on DACA. It’s long, but the money quote comes in No. 7 where he admits that a court challenge to DACA “is very likely to succeed.” Which, of course, means DACA is probably unconstitutional and that this fight was coming no matter who was president.

Also read from 27 on down where Columbus explains what the states who want to sue to end DACA are actually asking for. In short, it’s not mass deportations.

Officials Weren’t Sure Trump Understood DACA Decision

New York Times: “As late as one hour before the decision was to be announced, administration officials privately expressed concern that Mr. Trump might not fully grasp the details of the steps he was about to take, and when he discovered their full impact, would change his mind, according to a person familiar with their thinking who spoke on condition of anonymity without authorization to comment on it.”

Yeah, Roger... it had been challenged. Under the exact same grounds that his previous executive order on immigration was shot down.

More to the point, the DOJ would not have defended it from those challenges, leaving it up to a judge as to whether or not it could even be defended by anyone else.

You don't have to be a constitutional expert to understand that precedent would have brought this challenge down the exact same route as the previous challenge.

James, proud of this President, again says he said...

But today, that shadow has been cast over some of our best and brightest young people once again. To target these young people is wrong – because they have done nothing wrong. It is self-defeating – because they want to start new businesses, staff our labs, serve in our military, and otherwise contribute to the country we love. And it is cruel.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Lies on steroids.

On Tuesday morning, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that, in six months, the Trump administration will terminate DACA, the Obama-era program that allows young undocumented people brought to the United States as children to live and work here legally. Sessions could have given a straightforward speech that criticized the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program’s alleged legal infirmities and urged Congress to legislate a solution. Instead, he slandered DACA’s nearly 800,000 recipients in nativist language with barely concealed racist.

Many Republicans have made clear in recent weeks that they favor the basic policy DACA enshrined, and merely oppose its executive implementation. Sessions, who helped persuade Trump to kill the program, is not one of those Republicans. In his remarks, he directly denounced the very idea of granting any kind of amnesty to undocumented individuals brought to the U.S. as children through no fault of their own. At the heart of his speech were two lies, straight from Breitbart, explaining why DACA must end:

The effect of this unilateral executive amnesty, among other things, contributed to a surge of unaccompanied minors on the southern border that yielded terrible humanitarian consequences. It also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens.

Let’s examine these falsehoods in turn.

First: Sessions claimed that DACA “contributed to a surge of unaccompanied minors on the southern border.” This allegation, often touted by far-right xenophobes, is false. A study published in International Migration, a peer-reviewed academic journal, found that the surge in unaccompanied minors actually began in 2008. (DACA was announced in 2012.) The authors pointed to a host of factors contributing to this phenomenon, including escalating gang violence in Central America, as well as drug cartels’ willingness to target and recruit children in Mexico. But the study found that DACA was not one of these factors. Its authors concluded that “the claim that DACA is responsible for the increase in the flow of unaccompanied alien children is not supported by the data.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Even without the study, it should be obvious that DACA played no role in this surge of unaccompanied minors because the theory itself makes no sense. Undocumented children who arrived in the United States following DACA’s implementation would not qualify for the program. Only those individuals who “have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007” and “were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012” could receive DACA status. Why would parents send their children to the U.S. to participate in a program in which they are not legally permitted to participate?

Second: Sessions alleged that DACA has “denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens.” This line is obviously drawn from the false narrative that immigrants steal jobs from American citizens. There is no actual evidence that DACA recipients have taken jobs from any Americans, let alone “hundreds of thousands.” There is, however, strong evidence that killing DACA will significantly damage the economy—a fact that Sessions conveniently omitted from his speech.

Once DACA is fully rescinded, its former recipients will lose their work permits (and thus their jobs) and face possible deportation. According to the left-leaning Center for American Progress, about 30,000 people will lose their jobs each month as their DACA status expires. The loss of these workers could reduce the national GDP by $280 billion to $433 billion over the next decade. According to estimates by the libertarian Cato Institute, DACA’s demise will cost employers $2 billion and the federal government $60 billion. Trump’s decision to end DACA isn’t a job-saver; it’s a job-killer.

Toward the end of his speech, Sessions praised the RAISE Act, a Republican-backed bill that would tightly curtail immigration into the U.S. Sessions claimed the act would “produce enormous benefits for our country.” In reality, the measure marks an effort to return America to an older immigration regime that locked out racial and ethnic minorities. Sessions has praised the 1924 law that created this regime—a law whose chief author declared that his act was meant to end “indiscriminate acceptance of all races.” On Tuesday, Sessions revived this principle in slightly more polite language.

The attorney general’s utterly gratuitous defamation of young Latino immigrants tells you everything you need to know about the decision to kill DACA. Before Tuesday, the Trump administration seemed eager to frame its DACA decision as respect for constitutional separation of powers: Congress, it insisted, not the president, must set immigration policy. But after Sessions’ speech, it is difficult to view this move as anything other than an attempt to implement the white nationalism that Trump and Sessions campaigned on.

He’s Really Doing It: Trump to Resume Deporting Individuals Brought to U.S. as Children

Confirming a week-plus of rumors, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Tuesday morning that the Trump administration will terminate the Obama-created executive-branch DACA program, which allows individuals who were brought to the U.S. as children to receive renewable two-year work permits that provide protection from deportation.

Put more bluntly, the announcement means that people who've lived in the U.S. for as long as 36 years—and who've maintained clean records and sought employment—will once again be subject to deportation "back" to countries they may not remember. The public generally opposes deportation of such individuals, who are known as DREAMers because of the DREAM Act, which would have created a path to citizenship for them had it not failed in Congress in 2010. Trump seemed to suggest as recently as last Friday that he would not act punitively

Amused, James said...

Overwhelming Majority Oppose Deporting Dreamers

A new Politico/Morning Consult poll finds voters overwhelmingly support allowing undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay in the country.

“A majority of voters, 58%, think these undocumented immigrants, also known as Dreamers, should be allowed to stay and become citizens if they meet certain requirements — a sentiment that goes well beyond the existing DACA program. Another 18% think they should be allowed to stay and become legal residents, but not citizens. Only 15% think they should be removed or deported from the country.”

DACA has opened the door for the nearly 800,000 DREAMers who have come forward, passed background checks, and have been granted permission to live and work legally in America without the fear of being deported. Many have already been able to fulfill their dreams of attending and completing college and are working legally, paying taxes and contributing to their communities. Over three-quarters of a million young people kept their promise to the only nation they know and love, only to see that nation turn its back on them. This is unconscionable.

Instead of working with Congress to find a solution, President Trump cowered to the most extreme, divisive voices in our country. With a change of heart from the compassion he pledged to show to DACA recipients, he is now stripping away their protection and peace of mind while heightening their fears. It is what many Congressional Republicans long sought to do: undercut the stability, hope, and opportunity that the DACA program offered to millions of children. We fought tirelessly against these attacks and will not rest until justice is delivered. We stand with these courageous DREAMers who deserve our support and every opportunity to succeed. Congress must act urgently to protect DREAMers and immigrant families from this heartless decision by the President. https://apnews.com/0e0cb85d8dea44909c2ead694a913ef0/Trump-rescinding-DACA-program-protecting-young-immigrants

From the Washington Examiner a conservative newspaper. Fake news. But in this case I'm like what we see here this is the real cold-hearted truth that's gone forever on the blog too sad.

Support for DACA is bipartisan, the poll stated. Eighty-four percent of Democrats and 69 percent of Republicans believe Dreamers should remain in the U.S.

"Given the deeply polarizing nature of immigration issues, the broad support for allowing Dreamers to stay in the United States is notable," said Morning Consult Co-founder and Chief Research Officer Kyle Dropp, according to Politico.

Additionally, 68 percent of registered voters said Dreamers should be granted work permits. Only 18 percent said Dreamers should not receive work permits.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Tuesday DACA would be rolled back under the Trump administration within six months, providing Congress enough time to act.

Former President Barack Obama established DACA in 2012 through an executive order, and it applies to approximately 800,000 illegal immigrants ages 15-36.

The poll also revealed almost a majority, 49 percent, of registered voters supported allowing illegal immigrants, not just Dreamers, to remain in the United States if they meet certain requirements. Only 22 percent said illegal immigrants should be deported.

The poll was administered from Aug. 31-Sept. 3 with a sample size of 1,993 registered voters.

While DACA recipients were illegally brought to the United States by their parents when they were children, the minimum age to apply for the program is 15 years old. In fact, the majority of the applicants were over the age of 20 based on 2014 data from the US government. Some have estimated that the average age of dreamers is 25 or 26 years old–hardly children.

how many dreamers are there? 800,000?

well then, lest we run the risk of discriminating towards one over another, here's an idea:

throw them all the fuck out.

right fucking now. before another innocent american citizen gets killed.

Below, Breitbart News has compiled a list of 50 of the 2,139 DACA recipients, deemed “DREAMers” by the open borders lobby, who have had their temporary protected status revoked due to crimes including: “A felony criminal conviction; a significant misdemeanor conviction; multiple misdemeanor convictions; gang affiliation; or arrest of any crime in which there is deemed to be a public safety concern,” according to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency.

The majority of crimes by DACA recipients include: “Alien smuggling, assaultive offenses, domestic violence, drug offenses, DUI, larceny and thefts, criminal trespass and burglary, sexual offenses with minors, other sex offenses and weapons offenses,” USCIS has stated.

liberal shitstain insults marine corp general, patriot, and gold star parent:

Democratic Rep. Luis GutiƩrrez (D-Ill.) on Tuesday issued an unusually personal rebuke of White House chief of staff John Kelly, suggesting the retired Marine general has tainted his military service by working in the administration as President Trump ends a program shielding young immigrants from deportation.

"General Kelly is a hypocrite who is a disgrace to the uniform he used to wear. He has no honor and should be drummed out of the White House along with the white supremacists and those enabling the President’s actions by ‘just following orders,' " GutiĆ©rrez said in a scathing statement, shortly after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration policy will be phased out.
