And so it begins...

2nd woman accuses Sen. Al Franken of inappropriate touching

ST. PAUL, Minn. —
A second woman has accused Minnesota Sen. Al Franken of inappropriate touching. Lindsay Menz tells CNN that Franken placed his hand on her bottom as they posed for a photo at the Minnesota State Fair in 2010, two years into Franken's first term. The 33-year-old Menz told CNN that the interaction made her feel "gross."
She says she immediately told her husband that Franken had "grabbed" her bottom. Franken told CNN he didn't remember taking the photo with Menz, but that he feels badly that she felt disrespected.
Los Angeles broadcaster Leeann Tweeden accused Franken last week of forcibly kissing her during a USO tour in 2006, before he was elected to the U.S. Senate. Franken's office has not responded to Associated Press messages seeking comment Monday.

This has to be the Senate Establishment's worst nightmare.

What to do with poor Al Franken, as things likely start to pile up on him. Oh, and what is poor Al supposed to do personally to rectify things this week? Perhaps another heartfelt apology to the latest accuser will suffice? Send here a fruit basket and a personal note of apology? Toss in a $25 gift card to Applebees?

His other option, of course, would be to deny it. Certainly it would not be out of the realm of possibility that others will step forward with less credible stories, now that he has been otherwise accused. Some may even outright lie, just for the publicity and possible monetary settlements (I hear there is a big old slush fund just sitting their to hand over those who claim sexual harassment from a Congressperson).

But when you have liberals (such as Hillary) suggesting that it's the admission of guilt and heartfelt apologies that makes the difference between moral sexual harassment from Democrats and immoral sexual harassment of Republicans, you can't really start objecting without blowing apart that narrative.

What to do, oh what to do?

When her husband was about to take a photo of Menz with Franken, she said that the senator "pulled me in really close, like awkward close, and as my husband took the picture, he put his hand full-fledged on my rear. It was wrapped tightly around my butt cheek."

Menz said that Franken's hand wasn't around her waist or hip or side.

"It was definitely on my butt," she said, adding that she walked away from Franken without another word after her husband took the photo. She later told Jeremy Menz that Franken "totally grabbed my butt."

BuzzFeed News has reached out to Menz for comment.

In a statement to CNN, Franken said he did not remember the taking the photo with Menz, but felt "badly" that she felt disrespected.

"I take thousands of photos at the state fair surrounded by hundreds of people, and I certainly don't remember taking this picture," Franken said. "I feel badly that Ms. Menz came away from our interaction feeling disrespected."

Franken's office did not respond to BuzzFeed News' request for comment.

I knew that you would post this and try to equalize this to Clinton and surprisingly not to Moore.

You hypocrisy forever comments get rather boring.

Realism
Years ago I met a very beautiful woman. She was almost 60 and still hot as hell.

She told me that years before, she went to the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Carson had an assistant to get her to his dressing room. He made it clear that he wanted to have sex with her. She said that she declined the offer.

I'm saying this, because in show business, the kind of behavior is common. I don't see any reason for Senator Franken should resign.

Let's compare the events.

1: Moore is a pedophile. He attempted to have sex with little girls. There is no denying that he committed the crimes
The statute of limitations making it impossible to prosecute himm for crimes against little girls. If you aren't outraged, we might have to wonder about you
2: Franken was an annoying jerk.

C.H. Truth said...

Moore is a pedophile

Pedophilia or paedophilia is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Although girls typically begin the process of puberty at age 10 or 11, and boys at age 11 or 12, criteria for pedophilia extend the cut-off point for prepubescence to age 13. A person who is diagnosed with pedophilia must be at least 16 years old, and at least five years older than the prepubescent child, for the attraction to be diagnosed as pedophilia.

There is no denying that he committed the crimes

So you are suggesting that Moore is admitting it? Because he seems pretty adamant about his denials.

If you aren't outraged, we might have to wonder about you

I don't know if "outraged" is the correct term. But I have been pretty straight forward about my feelings about Moore from the start. I wasn't a fan "before" he was accused of anything and I am no fan today.

The only thing capable of deadening my own personal feelings of nausea over the guy is the understanding that (allegations being true or not) this was an orchestrated event that was actually timed (not by the first accuser, but by the reporters who looked her up and brought it to light).

This is now the new strategy. The media will hide things about or even champion a Republican candidate during the primaries... and then once they get into the general election, all of the claws come out. This is what the Media did with Donald Trump and it backfired. They went back to the same well with Roy Moore. If it backfires again... well perhaps they should try a different strategy (like being objective and truthful).

Loretta said...

You accept it here.

Absolutely stupid. He's denying it, but even you probably don't believe him. So, your comments are illogical and rather CDish. Bring adamant is political. He's lying, but you don't give a shit because he's a Republican.

Your hypocrisy is stunning.

really, alky?

moore himself remains adamant in his denial. unless you were there and you witnessed it you should probably stfu about it.

at least with franken we have photographic evidence that he's a scumbag. with moore we don't even have that. what we DO have in moore's case is legal cockroach gloria allred "representing' the accuser. whenever she pops up, there's usually some legal sleight of hand involved.

so alky, you don't have the first fucking clue as to moore's guilt or innocence. all you do have is the fact that moore's a republican and you're a partisan hack. and btw, you're the last person on earth who should be lecturing anyone on hypocrisy.

spent time exposing the incredible party over country in what we stand for. CH made a fool of himself, when he used the definition of pedophilia, to make a point that was meaningless. He sexually assaulted teen age girls. The definition was to certain ages. It was fucking stupid. I'm a retired carpenter, that's how we talk.

But the bottom word is the Trump Republican party has been far different than the Republican party of Ronald Reagan. It refuses to work with the Democrats.

The governor of Alabama said that even though she found the women credible, she's going to support Moore. Despite his denials, if he could vote in Alabama, CH would vote for Moore, because he's a Republican. Every single one of the regulars would too

Trying to compare grabbing as ass to attempted sexual assault on a minor is patently insane.

Bill Clinton 23 years ago isn't relevant.

Go ahead and support this child abusing ass because he's a Republican.

He threatened to sue them. But he never did. Your argument will be that he won, despite being accused of these things. But the country tolerance for these events, has changed dramatically, so why should the already won excuse be valid? So what say you?

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster mocked President Trump’s intelligence at a private dinner with a powerful tech CEO, according to five sources with knowledge of the conversation.

Over a July dinner with Oracle CEO Safra Catz — who has been mentioned as a candidate for several potential administration jobs — McMaster bluntly trashed his boss, said the sources, four of whom told BuzzFeed News they heard about the exchange directly from Catz. The top national security official dismissed the president variously as an “idiot” and a “dope” with the intelligence of a “kindergartner,” the sources said.

A sixth source who was not familiar with the details of the dinner told BuzzFeed News that McMaster had made similarly derogatory comments about Trump’s intelligence to him in private, including that the president lacked the necessary brainpower to understand the matters before the National Security Council.

Both Oracle and the Trump administration heatedly denied the comments that Catz later recounted.

“Actual participants in the dinner deny that General McMaster made any of the comments attributed to him by anonymous sources. Those false comments represent the diametric opposite of General McMaster's actual views,” said Michael Anton, a spokesman for the National Security Council.

Oracle's top DC operative, who attended the dinner with Catz, also denied that McMaster made the comments his boss later recounted to others. The meeting, Oracle senior VP for government affairs Ken Glueck said, was about China, and “none of the statements attributed to General McMaster were said.” Glueck added that Catz “concurs entirely” with his account of the dinner.

Glueck responded to repeated inquiries only after BuzzFeed News contacted the NSC. And according to two sources with knowledge of the situation, administration officials threatened to retaliate against several figures with knowledge of the July dinner if they spoke to BuzzFeed News. Asked whether he had made his statement under pressure from the administration, Glueck responded, “ridiculous.”

Along with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, McMaster — a three-star general — is often seen as a moderating influence on the president and a steadying hand in an administration staffed with political newcomers and anti-establishment bomb-throwers. Because of their perceived influence over the president, both men and in particular McMaster are widely distrusted by Trump’s base and some loyalist aides and former staffers, and have been the perceived target of attacks in the press.

Federal judge on Monday permanently blocked President Donald Trump's executive order to cut funding from cities that limit cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities.

U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick rejected the administration's argument that the executive order applies only to a relatively small pot of money and said Trump cannot set new conditions on spending approved by Congress.

The judge had previously made the same arguments in a ruling that put a temporary hold on the executive order targeting so-called sanctuary cities. The Trump administration has appealed that decision to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

"The District Court exceeded its authority today when it barred the President from instructing his cabinet members to enforce existing law," Department of Justice spokesman Devin O'Malley said in a statement late Monday. "The Justice Department will vindicate the President's lawful authority to direct the executive branch."

Orrick's ruling came in lawsuits brought by two California counties, San Francisco and Santa Clara.

San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera said the ruling was "a victory for the American people and the rule of law."

Good morning America

Afederal judge has permanently blocked President Donald Trump's executive order to cut funding from so-called sanctuary cities, or cities that limit cooperation with US immigration authorities. Trump signed that order in January, right after taking office, and it was designed to crack down on immigration by financially punishing cities who, in the words of the President, "harbor illegal immigrants." Some of the biggest cities in the country have such practices, including Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Critics of the order say it overstepped presidential powers and the judge's ruling was a victory for the rule of law. However, a Department of Justice spokesman said the court had "exceeded its authority" in the ruling and vowed the department would continue to follow Trump's direction.
