Liberals believe that the wrong Clinton is now guilty?

So I have now read about a half dozen different pieces from liberal journalists who have come to the conclusion (backhanded as much of these conclusions are) that Bill Clinton should have been held accountable for his sexual actions two decades ago.

Well how convenient for you?

The argument (of course) is that had Bill Clinton been held accountable (forced to resign in shame) then they could fully expect two things:
  • That Trump would resign in similar shame due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
  • That any politician accused of sexual misconduct (no doubt all Republicans) should be held equally accountable.
Part of this is the frustration of the media bringing forth wild allegations against the President and others, and having the general public largely yawn and vote for these candidates anyways. There is certainly an argument to be made that the MSM actions in first covering up, and then apologizing for Clinton's actions makes it difficult for them to be moral warriors today. But I think they miss the two bigger points.
  • That they have become the boy who cried wolf. In this case, the opposition research that cried "old allegations of sexual abuse". It happens so often (and without any real means to prove it) that it looks more like a dirty ploy than a legitimate attempt to break real news.
  • That retroactively claiming that you wish Bill Clinton had been held accountable, does not change your hypocrisy today. If you want to prove yourself to be objective and willing to hold your own accountable, then there are plenty of opportunities to do so today when it counts.
In other words. If the Washington Post wants these stories to matter (to everyone) then they have to start working to bring down Democrats. Nobody seriously believes that only Republicans have sexual improprieties. Nobody seriously believes that there are not women out there willing to make similar claims against Democrats. It literally took Anthony Weiner getting caught on film with his pants down to make anyone in the media actually turn on him. The media needs to stop making this a one sided game.

Secondly, the same media needs to let the obvious be obvious and stop making stupid excuses for the Clinton's. Yesterday it was Bill didn't really mean any harm, so stop being so unfair and leave him alone. Today it's Hillary didn't really mean any harm, so stop being so unfair and leave her alone.  If the Press wants to atone for their over the top defense of Bill, then perhaps it would be to treat Clinton (and allegations against her) with the same zeal as they treat Trump (and allegations against him). Stop declaring that when Clinton hires someone to go talk to the Russians about Trump that it's opposition research, but if Trump is even suspected of having any contact with Russians about Clinton that it's collusion and we need at least "one more" investigation.

Sorry liberal media. But claiming in 2017 that Clinton should have been held accountable in the nineties shows us nothing that isn't a pure transparent attempt to lend more credibility to your 2017 hit jobs. It's self serving and irrelevant. You want to gain your credibility back? Then come out and demand that your Democrats (starting with Clinton) need to be treated the same way you treat Trump and the Republicans.

Interesting enough there is now some doubt over Beverly Nelson's story in the liberal media.

Seems Roy Moore presided over her divorce proceedings (which is a possible source for the yearbook signature).

Anyway, the Moore campaign is demanding the yearbook be turned over for forensic eximination.

Menstral again gets his news without vetting....

Seems Roy Moore presided over her divorce proceedings

Seems the reports said all he did was sign the writ and never saw her in courtroom Nice try though....Sigmature in the yearbook is irrefutably his.....all he needs to do is get a discovery order to get the actual book....doubt the pedophile has the guts to do that....HUGE CHUCKLE>>>>

That's the point he signed the writ. That means she had his signature in her possession.

Are you really this dense?

This is the action by dictators. Throwing a political opponent in prison is how people like Putin and others is how a dictatorship works.

This is unfortunately too common here. This is the most bizarre political week since Trump was sworn in. This story is buried in the political section of the newspaper.

Moore??

The Republican civil war on tax reform aka give the richest people a massive tax cut, and the "supply side " fiction.

This is a common tactical Republican party tactic. They hate Gloria Alred who isn't stupid enough to use a forged signature.

Roger -

Do you believe that Gloria Allred will instruct her "client" to turn over her yearbook for evaluation?

I believe it would be the perfect way to call the Judge's bluff.

Certainly not even his more avid supporters would believe his denials if forensic signature analysis confirmed it was his signature.

If you bothered to look; the doubts were being raised on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd.

Idiot.

Nonsense, Hillary.

If the signature is real they should be jumping at the chance to have it verified.

Otherwise.....

Regarding Allred, she's been accused of paying summer zervos of the apprentice $500k to accuse trump.

I would not automatically believe her.

And now she's delaying turning over the yearbook.

Really? They haven't been stupid enough to file a legal case in court. That's where she would be in danger of suborning perjury.

There's no legal jeopardy for lying to the press and as far as her credibility is concerned it's suspect at best.

It's not the first time she sought publicity by trotting out an accuser of sexual assault.

Like most of the others, she'll get a few days of publicity and then disappear back into the woodwork again.

LOL the line of accusers keeps getting longer and longer. As for the signature, it should be evaluated only by someone truly capable of objectivity, not some "scientist" of the anti-global warming variety.

“Yesterday, I emailed a letter to the Chairs of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee and the United States Senate Select Committee on Ethics in which I formally requested that those committees conduct a hearing within the next two weeks regarding the accusations made by the five women who alleged that they were victims of Roy Moore when they were teenagers,” Allred wrote in the email.

Allred made it clear her client had nothing to hide and said that Nelson would like to testify under oath regarding what she claims Moore did to her. The well-known lawyer also called for Moore to testify under oath about denying the multiple allegations against him.

clever, except for one thing -

those senate committees have no jurisdiction over the situation.

allred is a grandstanding hack. nothing more, nothing less.

Even MSNBC is now doubting Allred.

Hmmm...

LOL the line of accusers keeps getting longer and longer.

So one of the two "new" accusers was 18 when she said Moore asked her on a date. The other was 22 when Moore flirted with her at the mall.

Not exactly in line with what the "headlines" indicated.

But wasn't that the point? To fool people like James?

Allred refuses to say whether the signature is real.

OK CH, for the record I demand that (our) Democrats (starting with Clinton) need to be treated the same way you treat Trump and the Republicans with regards to corrupt actions and sexual harassment.

For all the good that does.

Last time I checked, in less than a year as President, there has been two congressional investigations, one FBI investigation, and a special counsel who is investigating the alleged corrupt actions of Trump.

I guess that's not enough for you?

Donald Trump's Sexual Assault Accusers Demand Justice in the #MeToo Era: 'We Were Forgotten'

The recent accusations of sexual misconduct against a long list of powerful men in Hollywood and other industries have been widely believed — and led to resignations, loss of careers and other fallout.

Meanwhile, some of the women who accused Donald Trump of sexual harassment or assault during the presidential campaign wonder when the president might finally pay a price for what he allegedly did to them.

“Things just seem to fall off of Trump, I’m extremely disappointed,” says Jessica Leeds, 75, who alleges Trump tried to kiss her, fondle her breasts and put his hand up her skirt while on a flight to New York in the early 1980s.

Their stories — like the harrowing one PEOPLE writer Natasha Stoynoff shared of Trump allegedly attacking her in 2005 by pushing her up against a wall at Mar-a- Lago and shoving his tongue down her throat — are backed up in most cases by co-workers, friends or family members.

In the weeks that followed, many women alleged on the record that Trump had touched, grabbed or kissed them without their permission. Over the course of his campaign, more than 10 would come forward.

“I feel this issue has been ‘on hold’ all year, but not forgotten,” says Stoynoff in an email. “It’s been simmering on the stove with the lid on, like a pressure cooker. But now the heat’s on and it’s going to boil and the lid is going to blast off.”

That blast off may come with help from a defamation lawsuit filed by Summer Zervos, a former Apprentice contestant who has alleged Trump began kissing her very aggressively and put his hand on her breast without her consent in 2007.
Zervos filed the suit after Trump repeatedly called his accusers liars. Through her attorney, Gloria Allred, she declined to be interviewed for this story.

Norm Eisen, former chief White House ethics lawyer for President Barack Obama, says the lawsuit is “critically important” because “the president’s alleged offenses against women, of sexual harassment, sexual assault, are very serious, much more serious than many of those that have resulted in people losing their jobs.

“That should get a full and fair examination,” Eisen says, “and at the moment that lawsuit is the best vehicle we have to do that.”

Trump, meanwhile, has called the ongoing legal case against him “totally fake news. It’s just fake. It’s fake. It’s made-up stuff, and it’s disgraceful.”

In a statement to PEOPLE, his attorney Marc Kasowitz says the lawsuit is “based on allegations of events that never occurred.”

Trump himself has also denied all allegations against him, tweeting last year that the accusations are “100% fabricated and made-up charges.” He also called the charges “false allegations and outright lies” while on the campaign trail last fall.

Stoynoff says Trump should apologize and issue a statement saying “that we are not liars.”

“For Trump and his press secretary to continue to push the false agenda that the women are liars and continue to so cavalierly defame private citizens is outrageous and improper.”

Florida resident Melinda McGillivray, 38, tells PEOPLE that Trump gave her rear end “a grab” while she was helping a photographer friend at an event at Mar-a-Lago in 2003.
During this last year, she says, “I feel like we were forgotten about and there was no justice, but I do feel he will have his day in court.”

She is also “appalled” that a growing numbers of Republicans seem to believe the women accusing Roy Moore but don’t appear to believe Trump’s accusers — or are simply ignoring their claims.

“It’s disturbing,” McGillivray says in a text, “that many of Trump’s diehard supporters are so stubborn that they can’t seem to come to terms with the reality that their president is just as guilty as Roy Moore.”

I'll let you know when it's all said and done, if it's enough.

Maybe I'm the only one who's honestly sick of criminal behavior in the White House.

CH- You challenged, quote, " Then come out and demand that your Democrats (starting with Clinton) need to be treated the same way you treat Trump and the Republicans. "

and I said, quote, "for the record I demand that (our) Democrats (starting with Clinton) need to be treated the same way you treat Trump and the Republicans" and added specifics for good measure. Precisely as you challenged.

I have to say, that was a very weird reaction you gave to it.

C.H. Truth said...

WP -

Nope. Just a realistic reaction. The reality "is" that we went 8 years without a single special counsel in spite of numerous potential criminal acts. We didn't get six months into the Trump Presidency before we had a special counsel ordered.

and you think it's all unfair... to the Democrats?

You are simply delusional.

wphamilton said...

That's insane CH, projection on your part maybe?

You challenged any liberal to call for the exact same treatment of Democrats and Republicans. I agreed with that, verbatim. And you call me delusional for it? What are you on?

C.H. Truth said...

Well then you agree?

We need a special prosecutor for Clinton....

just like we have for Trump?

Or is your idea of treating them the same way actually to treat them differently?

wphamilton said...

"treated the same way" means ... treated the same way. What is unclear about that?
