Since so much of trumps base are ignorant uneducated dolts....this probably does not bother them....oh well, more fake cuts!!!!!

Nearly half of all middle-class families would pay more in taxes in 2026 than they would under current rules if the proposed House tax bill became law, and about one-third would pay more in 2018, according to a New York Times analysis, a striking finding for a bill promoted as a middle-class tax cut.

President Trump and congressional Republicans have pitched the plan unveiled last week as a tax cut for most Americans. But millions of middle-class families — particularly those with children — would see an immediate tax increase, averaging about $2,000. Among the hardest-hit under the plan would be some of the most vulnerable taxpayers: those with huge out-of-pocket medical expenses.

By 2026, 45 percent of middle-class families would pay more than what they would under the existing tax system.

The preliminary Times analysis found that, in 2018, the plan would cut taxes for about 68 percent of families in the middle class, broadly defined as those earning between two-thirds and twice the median household income, or between about $50,000 and $160,000 per year for a family of three. For

Trump adviser sent email describing ‘private conversation’ with Russian official

By Rosalind S. Helderman, Matt Zapotosky and Karoun Demirjian November 6 at 10:43 PM
Carter Page, a foreign policy adviser to President Trump’s campaign whose visit to Moscow during the election has drawn scrutiny, sent an email to fellow Trump aides during his trip describing “a private conversation” with a senior Russian official who spoke favorably of the Republican candidate, according to records released late Monday by congressional investigators.

Page also wrote that he had been provided “incredible insights and outreach” by Russian lawmakers and “senior members” of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s administration during the trip.

The email appeared to contradict earlier statements by Page, who had said he had only exchanged brief greetings with the senior Russian official, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, after he delivered a speech at a Russian university.

In his July 2016 note, Page wrote that Dvorkovich had “expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to a vast range of current international problems.”

Page’s email was read aloud by Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) when Page met behind closed doors last week with the House Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 president election. The committee released the transcript of the seven-hour session late Monday.

Confronted with his email, Page told the committee that he had not meant that he met with any officials but rather that he had learned of their views about the U.S. election from local media and scholars. He maintained that his interaction with Dvorkovich consisted of a brief greeting, and that he had learned his views on the campaign while listening to Dvorkovich’s public address. Page told the committee that he had not worked with the Russians to hack emails or otherwise influence the election.

In a statement Monday, Schiff said that Page had failed to produce the email to the committee before his interview, despite receiving a subpoena for documents.

Page is one of a number of Trump associates whose contacts with Russians before the election are emerging as important factors in investigations by Congress and special counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

The elections today are in many states, are strongly influenced by the President's support, or the reverse.

In Virginia, the polls show a tight race. If the Democrats show up in numbers close to those in the general election year, we will see a large margin contrary to the polls.

This will be perhaps, an indication of the off year election next year.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2017/11/06/va_governor_race_is_within_the_margie_margin_135456.html

Which brings us (finally) to Virginia. There seems to be little doubt that this race is narrowing in the final days, although there is disagreement among pollsters as to just how much. The RealClearPolitics Average currently has Ralph Northam up by 2.8 points over Ed Gillespie. But that’s where the Margie margin comes in. Some of this variability we see isn’t due to sampling effects; it is due to pollster assumptions about what the electorate looks like. Put differently, Quinnipiac doesn’t consistently find double-digit Northam leads due to random chance; it is because of how the pollster is viewing the electorate. We can’t really put odds on Quinnipiac being right in the way we can calculate probabilities for sampling error. It’ll either be right, or it won’t.

Which is a roundabout way of saying: Northam has a lead. Without any clear knowledge about what the electorate will look like on Tuesday, that’s still probably your best bet. But just keep in mind that this is well within the Margie margin, and pollster choices are probably the difference between the expressed result, a narrow Gillespie win, or a surprisingly comfortable Northam win.

Sticking my neck out again, I'm predicting a relatively strong win by Ed Gillespie. Trump is going to have a strong positive on the Democratic electorate and fire up the Democrats.

President Trump didn’t threaten to unleash “fire and fury” or to “totally destroy” North Korea. He didn’t needle Kim Jong Un by calling him “little rocket man.”

Instead, at a news conference in South Korea’s capital Tuesday within range of North Korean artillery, Trump spoke in unusually measured tones and called on North Korea’s ruler to “come to the table and make a deal” to give up its growing nuclear weapons arsenal.

Trump delivered threats as well, calmly listing the firepower the U.S. currently has pointed at the Korean Peninsula, including three carrier strike groups and a nearby nuclear submarine — as well as “many things happening that we hope, we hope — in fact, I'll go a step further, we hope to God we never have to use.”

“I do see certain movement, yes,” Trump said at the joint news conference with South Korean President Moon Jae-in. “But let's see what happens.”

He offered no specifics, noting that his administration likes "to play our cards a little bit close to the vest."

Trump’s call for a deal came five weeks after he publicly dismissed the possibility of diplomacy with North Korea, saying on Twitter that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was “wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man.”

Ruhle’s description as “assault-type rifle” isn’t completely inaccurate as the weapons are semi- a AR-15 variant called a Ruger-556 — the number being a reference to the 5.56x45mm NATO round the rifle shoots. While these guns are typically referred to as modern sporting rifles (MSRs), Ruhle’s description as “assault-type rifle” isn’t completely inaccurate as the weapons are semi-automatic versions of their military counterparts.

Fear Strikes Out: Dems Beat Back Race-Baiting To Win Crucial Virginia Gubernatorial Race.

FAIRFAX, VA. — Democrat Ralph Northam has won the Virginia governor’s race, scoring the first big electoral victory of the Donald Trump era by defeating a candidate who ran hard on Trump-like culture war issues.

Northam, Virginia’s lieutenant governor, led former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie by 51 percent to 48 percent with 48 percent of precincts reporting — more of them in GOP territory. Northam’s lead is expected to grow. The Associated Press has called the race.

The win is a huge psychic boost for Democrats who heading into election day had grown nervous that a rough final week might have given Gillespie a chance — and suggests that his hardline racially charged ads on Hispanic gang violence, sanctuary cities and Confederate monuments had blown up in his face.

The potentially big margin caught even Northam’s allies by surprise — many had expected a narrow win of three to four points and were still trickling into his election night party at George Mason University. When NBC called the race, many rushed into the room whooping.

<<<

We have to see if the Democrats can duplicate this turnout, in the future. They out number the Republicans IF they get their shit together, and Trump is a gift for the Democrats. As long as they don't blow it, they will take back the Senate and the house.

I turned on Fox News, and the story was on a Clinton issue, nnt a danb word on Virginia. The percentages in counties in VA that got more votes for the Democrat than Clinton got in 2016. And they are getting close on the hose of delegates in VA.

The election yesterday, was a total repudiation of President Trump.

"Pushback against Donald Trump helped lift Democrats to governorships in the two highest-profile U.S. elections since the 2016 presidential contest. In Virginia, voters by a 2-1 margin said they were casting their ballot to show opposition to Trump rather than support for him. In New Jersey the margin was nearly 3-1. And Trump’s weak approval rating among voters in Virginia, 40 percent, was weaker still in New Jersey, a dismal 34 percent.

Relatedly, a surge in turnout by politically liberal voters boosted Virginia Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, as did a broad advantage on health care, which voters by a wide margin identified as the top issue in the vote."

We are seeing the first wave of a tsunami, that will sweep across the country. The President has become the symbol of the Republican party. His record low in the polls dragged the Republicans into the swamp.

The turnout was at general election numbers. The women voters stood in line, in the rain account northern Virginia. The suburbs that supported Trump in 2016, overwhelmingly voted for the Democratic candidates.

Some people are going say that this is just the terrible campaign by the Republicans, but it strongly suggested that the President was the reason why the Republicans were devastated. An emotional response to the President is what we saw. And it's not going away.

I watched the President. He was almost totally incoherent. He delayed the speech by an hour to make revisions, and the result was horrible. He praised the Koreans golf players. That speech will be used against Republicans. We face a nuclear war and he talked about golf.

Assembly Speaker Chung, distinguished members of this assembly, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for the extraordinary privilege to speak in this great chamber, and to address your people on behalf of the great people of the United States of America.

In our short time in your country, Melania and I have been awed by its ancient, modern wonders, and we are deeply moved by the warmth of your welcome. Last night, President and Mrs. Moon showed us incredible hospitality in a beautiful reception at the Blue House. We had productive discussions on increasing military cooperation and improving the trade relationship between our nations on the principle of fairness and reciprocity.

Through this entire visit, it has been both our pleasure and our honor to create and celebrate a long friendship between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

This alliance between our nations was forged in the crucible of war and strengthened by the trials of history. From the Inchon landings to Pork Chop Hill, American and South Korean soldiers have fought together, sacrificed together, and triumphed together.

Almost 67 years ago, in the spring of 1951, they recaptured what remained of this city, where we are gathered so proudly today. It was the second time in a year that our combined forces took on steep casualties to retake this capital from the Communists.

Over the next weeks and months, the men soldiered through steep mountains and bloody, bloody battles. Driven back at times, they willed their way north to form the line that today divides the oppressed and the free. And there, American and South Korean troops have remained together holding that line for nearly seven decades.

— The world was watching as President Trump stepped to the microphone in the heart of South Korea’s National Assembly to deliver a high-stakes speech to rally fellow leaders against North Korea. What better time for the president to talk about ... his New Jersey golf course?

Not long after he began his remarks, broadcast live on television feeds from Tokyo to Seoul to Washington, Trump took a moment to praise South Korea on the nation’s remarkable economic rise after the Korean War six decades ago. In doing so, he talked about the people’s prowess in engineering, technology, medicine, music and education.

Then he got to golf. “Korean golfers are some of the best on Earth,” he said, drawing applause. Waiting a beat, he smiled and added: “And you know what I’m going to say — the women’s U.S. Open was held this year at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.”

The president continued to note that Sung Hyun Park, a South Korean, won the tournament and seven more of her compatriots finished in the top 10.

By the time the armistice was signed in 1953, more than 36,000 Americans had died in the Korean War, with more than 100,000 others very badly wounded. They are heroes, and we honor them. We also honor and remember the terrible price the people of your country paid for their freedom. You lost hundreds of thousands of brave soldiers and countless innocent civilians in that gruesome war.

Much of this great city of Seoul was reduced to rubble. Large portions of the country were scarred severely, severely hurt by this horrible war. The economy of this nation was demolished.

But as the entire world knows, over the next two generations, something miraculous happened on the southern half of this peninsula. Family by family, city by city, the people of South Korea built this country into what is today one of the great nations of the world. And I congratulate you.

In less than one lifetime, South Korea climbed from total devastation to among the wealthiest nations on Earth. Today your economy is more than 350 times larger than what it was in 1960. Trade has increased 1,900 times. Life expectancy has risen from just 53 years to more than 82 years today.

Voters Send a Message to Trump

November 8, 2017

Politico: “This one was for Donald Trump. Exit polls revealed an unmistakable anti-Trump backlash Tuesday, as Democrats won resounding victories in governors races in Virginia and New Jersey. Majorities of voters in both states disapproved of the job Trump is doing as president, with significant numbers of voters in each state saying Trump was a reason for their vote. And far more of those voters said they made their choice to oppose Trump than to support him.

“What is unusual about Tuesday night is the extent to which the two races were about Trump. And the stark results cast fresh doubt on the health of Republican majorities in the House and Senate, in addition to gubernatorial races in next year’s midterm elections.”

Mike Allen: “Top Republicans were stunned by the severity of the shellacking, and worry that it will endanger both tax reform and the House majority.”

Democrats Euphoric After Election Romp

Politico: “Jubilant Democrats struck a defiant tone after sweeping victories across the country on Tuesday night, led by Democrat Ralph Northam’s surprise pummeling of Republican Ed Gillespie in Virginia’s gubernatorial race. Surveying their first electoral sweep in half a decade after a soul-crushing 2016 campaign and a desultory start to the Donald Trump era, Democratic leaders reset their expectations for the 2018 midterms.

“They’re now expecting a fundraising and candidate recruitment surge, powered by grass-roots fury at the Trump administration. While most Democrats stopped short of predicting the party will take the House next year, they noted in Gillespie the failure of a candidate who tried balancing between Trump-style populism and establishment Republicanism.”

Trumpism Without Trump Fails Badly

New York Times: “Lessons from off-year elections can be overdrawn, but the Virginia race strongly suggests that Republicans running in swing states will have to choose a side rather than try to straddle an uncomfortable line. Mr. Trump’s blunt force, all-or-nothing approach has worked in deeply conservative areas, but Republicans will have trouble replicating that in certain states in the midterms next year when faced with a diverse, highly educated electorate like the one in Virginia.”

So why should we have a constitutional right to bear semi-automatic rifles?

Because they are effective self-defense weapons.

We do not need weapons to shoot down fighter jets or military tanks, nor those which can indiscriminately injure or kill large groups of people. That may be what you mean by "too deadly", but if so the AR-15 and other semi-auto rifles are not deadly in that sense.

I am not responding from the standpoint of a philosophical antipathy respective of reasonable control of deadly weapons. However, I will reflexively oppose an argument which is an emotional appeal based on imagery conjured by false associations and this is one such. It is not only morally wrong to deceive people in that fashion but counterproductive as a persuasive argument - and if it ever does succeed to any extent, the gains if any will always be at risk.

It works best, in the long run, to be honest with people.

Wp, if machine guns being made illegal led to a situation in which very few deaths by machine guns resulted, why wouldn't the same be true for weapons that come close to being machine guns (and can be made even more so with bump stocks)?

What is "emotional" about pointing out that if we do not allow our citizenry to legally arm themselves with machine guns, bazookas, flame throwers, grenade launchers, or surface to air launchers, why should we not want our citizenry armed with weapons that are nearly as deadly as machine guns?

And again I say, if you were that mother in that church trying to protect her four little children by covering them with her own body, you might find yourself wishing that weapons like the one the assailant was using had been banned. Nor would you draw too fine a distinction between whether the assailant was using an "assault rifle" or merely a semi-automatic rifle.

But I guess that puts the matter in a way that you find too "emotional."

Many years ago when machine guns were outlawed, they pretty well disappeared. Why? Why did criminals stop using them?

Simply because merely POSSESSING one, in a home or in the trunk of a car, could cause a criminal to do SERIOUS prison time.

Very, very few people have been killed by machine guns since they became illegal for ordinary citizens to own.
_______________

Why don't we have a constitutional right to bear machine guns? Because they are too deadly.

Why don't we have a constitutional right to bear grenade launchers? Because they are too deadly.

Why don't we have a constitutional right to bear flame throwers? Too deadly.

Bazookas? Too deadly.

Surface to air missile launchers? Too deadly.

Mortars? Too deadly.

So why should we have a constitutional right to bear semi-automatic rifles?

A mother in the Texas church covered her children, three girls and a boy, with her body trying to save them. She and two of her little daughters were killed and her little son was shot FIVE times by the semi-automatic rifle-wielding assailant.

But you and other 2nd amendment fanatics want to leave semi-automatic weapons on the protected list, so that the gun industry can continue to make their huge profits and contribute much, much money to NRA servile politicians.

-- How sad, sad, sad was that shoot up in that tiny little church, and who knows, there might have been less deaths if semi-automatic weapons were not so readily available. They should have been outlawed long ago the way machine guns were. But this will keep on happening until finally politicians do what any sane and reasonable person can see needs to be done.

Once more with feeling (emotion) it can be said...
