So certainly 44.33% is not anything worth writing home to mother about, but it also isn't horrible considering it includes a 39% from the Democrat partisan PPP polling organization. Lets also keep in mind that Trump won the Presidency with a favorability under 40% so something in the 44% range for likely voters is probably a good number for him.
The reality is that Trump probably has a ceiling and a floor that are going to be pretty stable. I don't expect him to reach much past the 44-45% range, and short of some huge "real" scandal, I don't expect his approval averages to fall below 38-39%.

What concerns me is the fact that a significant percentage of the likely voters support a President who has an admiration of authoritarian leaders. His first actions were the use of Presidential directives.
His personal attacks on justice department and the FBI, claiming that they are determined to attack the President are designed to be loyal to him. They are sworn to enforce the law an defend the Constitution against harm. He is attempting to make the law enforcement system politically loyal to himself instead of enforcing the law and defending the Constitution against harm.
This is evident in his admiration of the brutal dictatorship of Vladimir Putin.

And the physics is that it's impossible to build an internal combustion engine to push a 1/2 vehical at 50+ miles per gallon.

In theory, as you approach idealization of heat losses, internal friction, short term burns, etc, to determine absolute limits, given reasonable compression ratios, the thermal efficiency of internal combustion engines is seen to approach 67%, which is 2-3 times greater efficiency than most vehicles on the road.
Scott Pruitt btw is just about the last person you want to rely on regarding environmental science and the potential of technology.

The absolute minimum passenger capacity is two persons. More popular are four person configurations, with six to eight people for family vehicles.
It would be rather difficult to get 50 miles per gallon out of these cars.
While it may be possible for a "personal transportation" vehicle, nobody would give up passenger a cargo capacity they need in their lives.
Otherwise, why bother, just ride a bike.

All those cars are hybrids so the MPG rating is somewhat misleading.
