Trump and Putin

I've read several opinions about the Trump Putin summit, and Trump's insistence that our intelligence has been faulty throughout. These opinions range from limited support to calls of treason.

I find myself if the opinion tha this was classic example of Trump using an international forum to air his own grievances. Inappropriate? Yep. Petty? Yep. Selfish? Yep? Treasonous? Nope.

Trump is questioning our intelligence. Based on how certain members of the community have treated him personally (which has been as inappropriate as anything Trump has done), these questions have significant merit. But it is possible that they got interference correct, and collusion wrong.

As a person Trump has every right to attack those who have attacked him. As President there are times when you must rise above your personal grievances and act like a world leader. Trump needed to do that and he didn't.

Two days after President Trump’s summit

Trump was asked during a Cabinet meeting if Russia was still targeting the U.S., and he answered “no” without elaborating.

That came just days after National Intelligence Director Dan Coats sounded an alarm, comparing the cyberthreat today to how the way U.S. officials said before 9/11 that intelligence channels were “blinking red” with warning signs that a terror attack was imminent.

The Obama administration may not have been proactive about the Russian intervention into the election. But the President has repeatedly denied that the Russians did not attempt to influence the election. Then he has denied that the Russians have made any attempts to influence the election. Then the White House staff has to scramble to "clarify" his comments.

On CBS News last night he again said he has been far more harsh on the Russians than anyone before. Mr. "Gorbachev tear down that wall" "I'm not going speculate if Putin has been lying. "

What is going to happen today is a big problem for the White House staff and intelligence agencies with this President who acts on "his gut" on an hourly basis.

What is the most disturbing about the current situation is that only 36% of Republicans believe that the Russians intervened into the 2016 election.

Wonder how many times trump will change his story? Or say I really meant something else. Also wonder why they keep accepting the pathological compulsive lies before they wake up from their trump coma? Sad how gullible and infected they are with the trump bullshit virus!!!!!

Now we know why Mr. Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court.

Brett Kavanaugh said he believes the legal precedent that allows for independent counsels to investigate government officials for federal crimes should be overturned.

Asked at a conservative event in 2016 to name a case that he believed should be overturned, Kavanaugh named Morrison v. Olson, a Supreme Court ruling upholding a 1978 law that creates a system for independent counsels to investigate and potentially prosecute government officials for federal crimes. The law had five-year sunset provisions and was allowed to expire in 1999, according to the Congressional Research Service.

"It's been effectively overruled, but I would put the final nail in," Kavanaugh said at an event for the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute.

Another point of evidence that the President believes that he is above the law.

well perhaps they chose to take 0linsky's word for it when he said the russians were not interfering.

and when you say "intervened" are you talking about the hundred grand they spent on fakebook ads?

i'm asking because you guys have become so hysterical about this i'm having a hard time keeping up.

i long for the good old days when democrat traitors like ted kennedy ACTUALLY DID conspire with the russians and commit treason to prevent a president from being elected.

good times...

Another Trump Hater Prays for Economic misery on the USA. Not other countries.
"During a segment about the economy, some Trump haters on the panel were unbothered with inflicting economic pain on Americans. However, Wallace was downright giddy at the prospect of a recession preventing Trump from winning a second term in office.

“If a recession hits…” panelist Jon Meacham said.

“You think that’s where the bottom falls out (for Trump)?” Wallace interjected.

“I think so,” he responded.

“Um,” Wallace said, flashing a huge smile. “Okay, good,” she cackled.

The media elites all scoffed and laughed together over the idea of a recession harming Americans so they could satisfy their own political objectives.

“You spoke to my better angels!” Wallace added."

WASHINGTON — The Obama White House’s chief cyber official testified Wednesday that proposals he was developing to counter Russia’s attack on the U.S. presidential election were put on a “back burner” after he was ordered to “stand down” his efforts in the summer of 2016.

Obama on 12/16/16: Russia's meddling was "not particularly sophisticated. This was not some elaborate, complicated espionage scheme."

Today @nytimes says a couple weeks later, "two weeks before" inauguration, Trump was told Putin had ordered "complex cyberattacks"

Which is it?

At this week’s summit in Helsinki, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed what President Trump described as an “incredible offer” — the Kremlin would give special counsel Robert S. Mueller III access to interviews with Russians who were indicted after they allegedly hacked Democrats in 2016. In return, Russia would be allowed to question certain U.S. officials it suspects of interfering in Russian affairs.

One of those U.S. officials is a former U.S. ambassador to Moscow, Michael McFaul, a nemesis of the Kremlin because of his criticisms of Russia’s human rights record.

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to rule out the Kremlin’s request to question McFaul and other Americans. Asked during the daily press briefing whether Trump is open to the idea of having McFaul questioned by Russia, Sanders said President Trump is “going to meet with his team” to discuss the offer.

Torturing an American diplomat would give you folks a thrill.

Whether the Obama administration failed to address the problem doesn't mean that the "complex cyberattacks" that were prevented to the President elect were false or politically motivated to destroy Donald Trump's presidency.

He has repeatedly denied that the Russians were aggressively targeting Clinton and in support of his candidacy.

No will go down in history with the same impact as the Nixon tapes.

The President said No.

But the director of the FBI begged to differ.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said Wednesday that he stands by the U.S. intelligence agencies' assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, and he warned that the Kremlin has not stopped trying to undermine American democracy.

"My view has not changed, which is that Russia attempted to interfere with the last election and that it continues to engage in malign influence operations to this day," Wray said. "It's a threat that we need to take extremely seriously and respond to with fierce determination and focus."

His comments come amid a series of contradictory statements from President Trump this week about whether he believes Moscow interfered in the U.S. presidential race and is still meddling in American politics.

Obviously he's going to get fired.
