Any takers?

Proof will be in the pudding

One way or the other, the Kavanaugh nomination will either be pulled, voted down, or he will be confirmed as the next USSC Justice. My money (at this point) is that Kavanaugh will still be confirmed, and be confirmed in time to start the next session.

Then, we will see if this was about truth and justice or if this was a political stunt designed to stall a qualified nomination. My best bet is that the day Kavanaugh's fate is sealed (either by a withdrawal or confirmation) - that all of the moaning and groaning about Professor Ford getting a fair hearing will come to a screeching halt.

In other words, either this is really about Ford having her say... or it's about preventing Kavanaugh from becoming a USSC Justice. There would be no reason to stop championing Ford's cause, just because it no longer changes the judicial landscape.

But is there anyone here, who believes that Diane Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, or any of the other Democratic Senators will continue to help Ford? Call for investigations? Demand she be given a voice before the Senate? Tell us how important this 36 year old claim actually is? Still call for a long in depth investigation without artificial time lines?

If what she has to say no longer helps them politically?

Even the media is catching on to this scam.

Kavanaugh opposition loses steam as his accuser balks at testifying

That's why Christine Blasey Ford, who came forward with a harrowing tale of what she called attempted rape when she and Kavanaugh were high school students, posed such a grave threat to the judge's confirmation.

But in the last day or so, that threat seems to be deflating.

When Republicans invited Ford to a hearing next Monday, she had a prime opportunity to make her case. A credible appearance, even with Kavanaugh's steadfast denials, would have made it difficult for at least some GOP senators to approve him for the high court.

But Ford, after saying through her lawyer she was willing to testify, is balking. She is balking even though Chuck Grassley offered her the option of testifying in a private session (though that would lessen the public impact of her appearance). And that is taking the air out of the Kavanaugh opposition.

Even Mika Brzezinski, the MSNBC liberal and women's rights advocate, said yesterday that if Ford won't testify, "you have to wonder what the Republicans are supposed to do except demand a vote ... This is something that happened in high school. This is going to need her voice. There's no other way around it. No one can do it for her, as miserable as that may be."

Across the political spectrum, National Review's David French agreed:

"It is of course extraordinarily difficult for any person to face cross-examination. It's even more difficult when facing examination based on memories so painful and so far in the distant past." But, he said, it is crucial to our system of justice.

Nellie Ohr, the wife of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, is refusing to appear before Congress for a closed-door hearing that was scheduled to take place this Friday, sources tell The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Ohr, who worked for Fusion GPS, the firm behind the Steele dossier, was scheduled to appear for interviews during a joint session with the House Judiciary and House Oversight & Government Reform Committees. But a congressional source says that she is not cooperating with the requests and will have to be subpoenaed to compel her appearance.

The sources also say that former FBI general counsel James Baker is not cooperating with the committees’ request for an interview.

Ohr was slated to appear before members of the committees to discuss her work for Fusion GPS. Ohr, an expert on Russian affairs, worked for Fusion GPS from December 2015 until just after the election.

All TV nets but fox are completely ignoring this. But this week, a Texas republican won a state senate seat that had been held by democrats for 139 years. Not a typo.

So much for the blue wave crap...particularly in Texas. Cruz will cruise.
