FBI in hot water?

So here are the facts:
  • The FBI/DOJ used Democratic opposition research to garner a FICA warrant on Carter Page.
  • Carter Page was never charged with any criminal actions, nor is there any movement to do so.
  • The Washington Post (working with anonymous officials who leaked the information) reported that Trump adviser Carter Page had been under FBI surveillance during the Trump campaign.
  • Two days prior to that release Peter Strzok and Lisa Page exchanged text messages about the "media leak strategy" between the FBI and DOJ and very specifically how there was going to be two stories about Lisa's "name sake" (Carter Page) that would be damaging.
So given that leaking FICA warrant information to the press would be a criminal act, and given that Strzok and Page knew of the leaking in advance of the stories, it would suggest strongly that if Strzok/Page didn't participate directly in the leaks, that they would know who did. Of course withholding that information would also be a crime (obstruction).

More and more legal analysts believe that there is more shoes to drop in all of this, and that those shoes will very likely come in the form of indictments. We learned recently that there has been a Grand Jury appointed to the case for outed deputy director McCabe. Nobody should believe that the abrupt firing of Peter Strzok was random, nor be surprised if he is facing legal problems as well.

But whether or not McCabe, Strzok, or Page ever face indictments, there can be no question that what they were doing was blatantly unethical and blatantly partisan. It can no longer be denied that there were people working within the FBI (and using FBI resources) to damage Trump and his Presidency. I find it alarming how many people actually are willing to defend it.

another alky claim bites the fucking dust:

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) says she is not swayed by crowdfunding aimed at encouraging her to oppose Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, comparing the effort to a "bribe."

"I consider this quid pro quo fundraising to be the equivalent of an attempt to bribe me to vote against Judge Kavanaugh," Collins told conservative news outlet Newsmax.

Two groups of Maine progressives have pledged to donate up to $1.3 million to Collins's next opponent if the Maine senator votes to confirm Kavanaugh, Newsmax reported. Collins is not up for reelection until 2020.

Donors have been asked to pledge money against Collins, but their credit cards will only be charged if she votes "yes" on Kavanaugh.

“If I vote against him, the money is refunded to the donors," Collins said. "If I vote for him, the money is given to my opponent for the 2020 race."

"This effort will not influence my vote at all,” she added. “I think it demonstrates the new lows to which the judge’s opponents have stooped.”

The FBI used Steele as a source in their application to obtain a surveillance warrant on Page, according to the heavily redacted FISA application released by the Department of Justice last month.

ESAD rectum breath No facts. Just opinion....but that is all you ever have. asshole

New polling shows Democrats with 12- and 14-point leads over Republicans in the midterm congressional elections — a possible indication of a "blue wave" this fall.
But it's unclear whether this imbalance will hold — the Democrats' advantage over the GOP has swung from single digits to the teens this year.
Democrats had massive 12- and 14-point leads over Republicans in the midterm congressional elections, according to two polls of the generic House ballot released Wednesday.

An NPR/Marist Poll conducted during the second week of September found that 50% of registered voters would cast their ballots for Democrats and 38% would vote for Republicans if congressional elections were held then. Another poll, conducted by Quinnipiac University during roughly the same period, found that Democrats have a 14-point lead over their Republican opponents.

No demographic group approves of the job Congress is doing — and 72% of Americans overall disapprove of the lawmakers, according to the Quinnipiac poll. While 58% of voters say Congress should act as more of a check on President Donald Trump, 56% of all voters don't want the body to begin impeachment proceedings against the president.

A late August Washington Post-ABC News poll also found that Democrats have a 14-point advantage over Republicans in the 2018 midterm elections. Just 38% of registered voters said they would vote for Republican House candidates, while 52% said they'd vote for Democrats.

The Republicans are in hot water?

I know that I don't have a great record in forecasting political events. But the odds are increasing that the blue wave will reach a category five.
The house is almost a sure thing.

But the Senate majority leader said that he is concerned. Quinnipiac university poll numbers show that the President is bringing the Republicans a surprise.

Only 31 percent of American voters like President Donald Trump as a person, while 59 percent dislike him, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today.

Republicans like Trump 66 - 24 percent, the only listed party, gender, education, age or racial group which likes him, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University National Poll finds.

By a smaller 54 - 43 percent margin, American voters dislike President Trump's policies.

Voters disapprove 54 - 41 percent of the job Trump is doing as president, including 48 percent who disapprove strongly. Another 30 percent approve strongly.

The Trump Administration is not doing enough to help middle class Americans, voters say 58 - 38 percent. Republicans say 80 - 16 percent that the administration is doing enough, and white men agree 51 - 45 percent. White voters with no college degree are divided as 46 percent say the administration is doing enough and 49 percent say it is not doing enough. Every other listed group says the Trump Administration is not doing enough.

Their personal financial situation has gotten better in the last two years, 36 percent of voters say, as 17 percent say it's worse and 45 percent say their financial situation is the same.

"Not the kind of numbers that gets you a date to the prom - or helps your party as the Midterm Elections approach. Only one in three Americans 'likes' President Donald Trump," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

"For President Trump, another Groundhog Day. His job approval gets another cool reception in midst of the sweltering summer. What does it mean? Simple: The base is hanging in and the rest aren't buying in."

President Trump does not treat people of color with the same amount of respect he affords white people, American voters say 54 - 39 percent.

American voters say 54 - 37 percent that "President Trump has emboldened people who hold racist beliefs to express those beliefs publicly."

Trump, The Media, Twitter

The news media is an important part of democracy, 65 percent of American voters say, while 26 percent of voters say the media is the enemy of the people. Republicans say 51 - 36 percent that the media is the enemy of the people rather than an important part of democracy, the only listed group to feel that way.

While 44 percent of American voters are concerned that President Trump's criticism of the news media will lead to violence against people who work in media, 52 percent of voters are not concerned. Democrats are concerned about violence 76 - 21 percent. Not concerned are Republicans 80 - 14 percent and independent voters 55 - 41 percent.

American voters say 66 - 26 percent that Trump should stop tweeting from his personal Twitter account. Republicans are divided as 44 percent say tweet and 47 percent say stop.

"The media, so frequently excoriated by the White House, is not considered an enemy of the people. Far from it," Malloy said.

It's less than 60 days away.
