Keeping in mind that this information all came out AFTER the initial autopsy ruling the death a homicide - so in effect, this information will overrule what was on the original autopsy and be disclosed at trial. The media can hide it, but neither the prosecution or a judge will be able to do so.

Former New York City chief medical examiner Dr. Michael Baden, who performed an autopsy for Floyd’s family that also determined his death was a homicide, explained that the amount of fentanyl that was in Floyd's system can have vastly different effects on different people.
“Like all narcotics, there’s a wide range of what’s lethal or not, because it all depends on the tolerance of the individual from whom the blood has been drawn,” Baden, a Fox News contributor, said Thursday. “So clearly, that could be fatal to some people, not necessarily for others. But the circumstances of death are very important, especially in this case.”

A good lawyer would understand that it is the prosecution's responsibility to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he was murdered.
It's not up to the defense to offer anything but reasonable doubt. All they have to do is provide the jury with information showing that it's reasonable to assume that he died from an overdose.
They don't have to prove it was an overdose. Just that it is reasonably possible.
This is not a preponderance of evidence situation. If the coroner cannot say for sure that he was murdered, but has to remain open to the possibility that he overdosed...
Well then, that is reasonable doubt.
A good lawyer will simply ask the coroner if the levels of fentanyl, the foaming at the mouth, the complaints about not being able to breath while simply standing and walking from his car to the police car, and the amount of liquid in his lungs are consistent with a drug overdose.
Furthermore, he will probe the coroner who will have to say under oath that there was no physical signs of strangulation or other damage that would prove conclusively that the knee on the neck caused his death.
And no honest jury will convict police officers of murder.

You do realize that the knee to the neck is not a strangulation hold and is an accepted and trained restraint procedure for all Minnesota police officers.
You do also realize that the medical examiner found no physical evidence of trauma to the throat or esophagus to suggest it was strangulation.
So there is neither physical or medical evidence to back up the concept that he was strangled to death. But there is more than enough physical and medical evidence to suggest he overdosed.

Cardiopulmonary arrest (heart attack) does not explain the liquid in his lungs.
This is very simple. There is a ton of pressure to avoid the obvious social unrest if these police officers are not found guilty. Of course, that is (right or wrong) not a consideration in our judicial system.
All that matters is whether or not they can prove not that it was possible that Floyd died of a heart attack because of a neck restraint... but that Floyd dying in that manner is the ONLY REASONABLE EXPLANATION.
If Roger even watched a crime drama once or twice in his life, he would understand that the prosecution is tasked with proving beyond all reasonable doubt.
He would also understand that under direct questioning from the defense that the coroner will have to admit that without taking anything else into consideration... that the medical evidence suggests an overdose.

The original autopsy was written before the toxicology reports came back.
So the fact that this autopsy did not suggest an overdose is irrelevant because the information that points to a drug overdose was not yet available.
This is why the coroner provided this update to the prosecutors.
He is letting them know that under oath he will have to provide this information and that other medical experts called by the defense will point to a drug overdose.
There is no way to just suggest that this information is irrelevant...
all because the original autopsy didn't bring it up...

An independent autopsy ordered by George Floyd's family found his death was a "homicide caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain," according to early findings from the examination released Monday.
Floyd was apprehended by police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last Monday, and one of the officers pinned his knee to Floyd's neck as Floyd called out that he couldn't breathe.
The independent examiners found that weight on Floyd's back, the handcuffs and the positioning were contributory factors because they impaired the ability of Floyd's diaphragm to function. The report concluded that Floyd, 46, died at the scene.
"The ambulance was the hearse," Ben Crump, an attorney for Floyd's family, said at a news conference announcing the findings.
The bottom line is that when it goes to trial, the defense will claim that the drug effects caused the death
The prosecutor will show the video because the police officers pulled him across the back seat to the passenger side of the vehicle and pulled him down under the car and pushed his knee down on his neck, while he said "I can't breathe" and call his mother name until he quit breathing.
There was evidence of trauma on his neck in the video.

While we can certainly entertain the idea that this is not conclusive proof that he died of a drug overdose, or that he was not strangled.
The reality is that a prosecutor will be required to take this medical information and prove that he was strangled and murdered.... and he will have to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Atlas is affiliated with the conservative Hoover Institution at Stanford University. An expert in brain imaging, he has no experience with pandemic response but appears to have parlayed his frequent appearances on Fox News into a White House appointment.
Confronted by the BBC interviewer regarding his lack of expertise, Atlas lashed out. “You know, I have to laugh at that,” he said, adding that it was “sort of silly” to think a virologist or immunologist was needed to deal with the pandemic.
Before joining the Trump administration, Atlas made statements that called into question his understanding of the virus. He backed the push by several Republican governors to reopen their states’ economies in early May, while most public health officials, including Fauci, were urging caution. Many states in the Sun Belt did reopen, only to see significant spikes in both infections and deaths.
Later, Atlas tried to blame those spikes on antiracism protests and on immigrants from Mexico. The view of most public health experts is that when governors took the approach Atlas advocated, newly reopened restaurants, bars and other venues quickly became sites of viral transmission.

My father served during both WWII and the Korean war. After that he rewrote the helicopter manuals before retiring in 1960. He was not a loser or sucker. He fought to protect those at home and made changes to the helicopter manuals to ensure there safety.

KENNETH G. BURLOCK, JR had everything to live for when he was called to serve his "LOSER TOUR". He was 23 years old when he and his scout dog were killed at a bunker complex.
After his death, bravely serving his country, my friend was awarded a Bronze Star with V device and a Purple Heart. Ken served because he felt that it was his DUTY to serve his country when he was called.
JAMES FLOYD RAY was an amazing young man. He was from my home town of Milledgeville, GA. James was absolutely the best of the best. Captain Ray heard his call very early on in the Vietnam War. He had graduated from the United States Military Academy and had a golden ticket to star rank. He graduated second at West Point, was a Rhodes Scholar, and chose combat as his duty leaving a young wife and so much promise behind.
James chose to go to Vietnam to serve as an adviser with MAC-V. He was killed by a mine while trying to rescue an ARVN enlisted man in a rice paddy.
After his death James was awarded the Silver Star medal for heroism, the Bronze Star with V device, Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star.
James was 27 years old when he was killed in action.
