The rise of the thought police!

Now that there will be no repercussions from a Biden DOJ social media has openly started censoring for political reasons. Illegal? Yes. Will they be held accountable? Probably not.

After an entire spring, summer, and fall of liberal violence cheered on by liberal elites in politics, the media, and in corporate America... suddenly one riot is being used as an excuse to ban, censor, and otherwise play thought police on the American public. Tucker Carlson and others called this and said it was coming.

Not in my America, I thought to myself. We have a constitution, protections, etc... but I guess not.

My twitter account is not just down 2000 followers, but as of this morning I am down to under 6900 followers when I used to (at my peak) have nearly 11,000. More to the point, I continue to garner "new" followers every day (89 followed me just yesterday) which means that we are looking at likely way more than half of followers I have had overall have now been downright deleted. It has been a battle of new followers competing with suspensions, bans, and outright deletions for months. My followers list has been slowly losing that battle.

But yesterday they dropped the nuclear bomb. No question about it. If you believe for a second that this is for any other reason than they believe they can get away with it because the Biden Administration will do nothing, then I have a bridge to sell you. They have been doing this around the edges for months and looking for an excuse to drop the big one.

As you can see, I had well over 9000 followers yesterday, and zero new "unfollows". The zero "unfollowers" is interesting because "suspended" accounts will show as unfollowed. I generally get about a dozen or so suspended accounts showing as unfollowed. I generally spot check them and will almost never find anything that appears out of line. But in this case, these thousands of accounts were not suspended, but actually deleted. They are not even showing as ever existing. I am not sure how the tool will account for it when later today it updates my amount of followers.

Google and Apple conspire to take down alternative to Twitter

So what is going to happen? People will move to Parler, which is a slightly less robust, but much less restricted public forum that is made up of mostly conservatives who have been getting fed up with Twitter.

However, both Google Play and the Apple stores are suspending or deleting the ability to download Parler. The suspension from Google was without warning. Apple provided Parler 24 hours to set in place a policy to "restrict" more content (one would assume in the same manner that Twitter does) or be stricken from their store. You can still obviously get to Parler via a browser and download the app in other manners, but not being able to do it from one of the major "stores" is an attempt to prevent it.

Legal experts have already concluded that this will be seen as a clear violation of anti-trust acts as it works all together to keep Twitter as the only holder of a platform that they have no legal copyright for. Twitter can run their platform as they want, but big tech has no right to tell Parlor to follow Twitter's lead. This is exactly how you create a "monopoly" in an artificial manner, which of course is the very definition of anti-trust. Obviously the Biden administration will have no interest in pursuing this (even as it is the most blatant action we have probably ever seen) - but Parler and others will have standing to sue.

Oh, and btw... they have permanently banned Trump, Rush, and several other prominent conservatives (update: Rush pulled his own account from Twitter)

From what I understand, this just didn't involve the sort of random American followers who would follow my account, but this is affecting the conservative elites. As pointed out by some, there is no indication that some of these conservative did "anything" that could be considered inciting a riot. But apparently spending too much time demanding that an election was unfair (you know like in 2016) is akin to incitement.

Is this what America has come to?

The issue here isn't that this has been done. We all sort of expected that it would happen to some degree (just not this degree and this obviously). The hypocrisy of applying two sets of rules (one for liberals and one for conservatives) not only on social media, but on google and apple applications as well is alarming. If you don't find it alarming, then you and I live in an entirely different world.

The Rasmussen poll, one of the most accurate polls of the 2020 election, finds President Trump’s approval is actually rising after Wednesday‘s protests.

As Democrats move to impeachment and some establishment Republicans call for the 25th Amendment to remove Trump, the poll finds 48% approve of the President’s job performance.

A source close to the polling firm tells Newsmax that the rolling survey saw Trump’s approval soar to 51% on Thursday night.

Trump’s approval has been up overall, jumping from 45% just before Christmas.

“Americans are disgusted that cities burned for months and Washington and the media did nothing,” our source says, “But they still like Trump.”

Cohen Says He’s Cooperating with Trump Probes
10:29 pm
Michael Cohen said in a tweet on Friday that he is cooperating with “multiple government agencies” probing President Trump and his family.

Trump Suggests He’ll Build His Own Online Platform

“President Trump suggested Friday night that he may seek to build his own online platform after Twitter permanently suspended his account less than two weeks before the end of his presidency,” The Hill reports.

Writing on his official White House account: “Twitter employees have coordinated with the Democrats and the Radical Left in removing my account from their platform, to silence me — and YOU, the 75,000,000 great patriots who voted for me.”

Trump Told He May Face Legal Liability for Inciting Riots

Washington Post:
“Legal advisers to the president and his allies expressed increasing concern Friday about possible criminal liability in the wake of Wednesday’s melee… Trump has been told by attorneys that he could face legal jeopardy for inciting a mob; he has responded that it was never his intent to do so.”

Many Now Admit They Were Wrong About Trump

A senior Trump aide to Olivia Nuzzi:
“This is confirmation of so much that everyone has said for years now — things that a lot of us thought were hyperbolic. We’d say, ‘Trump’s not a fascist,’ or ‘He’s not a wannabe dictator.’ Now, it’s like, ‘Well, what do you even say in response to that now?’”

The person adds:
“There’s not a single person I have talked to at any level, from 23-year-old assistants to members of the Cabinet, who are not disgusted and ashamed with what has happened.”

January 9, 2021

Good morning. I’m Paul Thornton, and it is Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. About 1,200 people in Los Angeles County who were alive when last Saturday’s newsletter was sent out are now dead because of COVID-19. Let’s take a look back at the week in Opinion.

A violent insurrection was put down at the U.S. Capitol this week. I can’t think of anything to add that would make the gravity of this plain fact more obvious, but since some of the very Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 election results and fed the presidential fantasy that incited this deadly revolt now want us all to move on, I suppose I should give writing persuasively about the need for Congress to act the old college try.

Donald Trump should not be president right now. That was true long before Jan. 6, when a mob of his supporters invaded the Capitol as Congress was performing its constitutional duty to count electoral votes and certify Joe Biden’s victory, and it was just as true on any other day that Trump has been in public life. But the national emergency posed by Trump’s continuing occupation of the presidency has never been greater. Nor has the need for Congress to set a precedent, where none currently exists, for when a commander in chief incites a rebellion.

The only question is how to go about legally disempowering him. Noting that the president once bragged about how big his “nuclear button” was, former U.S. attorney Harry Litman writes approvingly of impeaching Trump a second time but doubts even now that enough Republicans in the Senate would vote to convict. What happens after Jan. 20 is another matter, Litman rights, and the federal government may want to pursue criminal charges of rebellion or insurrection against the soon-to-be ex-president.

The Times’ editorial board offers a frank and unsettling assessment of what’s to come: Realistically, we’re stuck with Trump for another 11 days, so we’ll just have to wait him out. After Trump is out of office, however, we must make sure that the officials who aided and abetted him fail politically — and for that to happen, voters must hold them accountable.

I’ll put it another way: The next newsletter from me will be the final one of Trump’s presidency. Sadly, seven days never seemed farther away.

And, yes, Trump is responsible for this insurrection. The editorial board makes it clear, just in case it isn’t obvious to anyone: “Attacking democratic institutions attacks democracy itself, and what the nation witnessed Wednesday in Washington is the power of the mob to destabilize even the most stable of democracies. The responsibility for this day of unconscionable attacks by Americans on the heart of our elective system belongs to Trump. But his enablers have much to answer for as well, and much to regret.” L.A. Times

Actually James... I have never stated that, nor do I recall Clinton ever stating that. They used the Green Candidate (Jill Stein) to make any actual legal challenges.

What I have stated over and over is that liberals believed that the 2016 election was "stolen" in a plot between Trump and the Russians. I have stated that there were five separate investigations into these proven false allegations, including a $40 million special counsel.

The hypocrisy here is that while conservatives might have "mocked" the concept that we elected a "Russian asset" - we were willing to allow liberals to embarrass themselves attempting to prove it.

Liberals do everything in their power to stifle anyone even making a suggestion that there as anything wrong with the 2020 election and there are now politicians who are aiming to shut down any media outlet willing to report "anything" about the 2020 election anomalies or allegations of any sort.

You folks need to understand that the vice President Biden won a fair and safe election, and move forward into the future.

As did Trump in 2016... almost none of you admitted it or moved forward.

Both Trump (in 2016) and Biden (2020) won their elections. Both have the right to be sworn in as Presidents. Of course, neither had or has the right to demand everyone cower to them or become avid supporters of policies and such that they disagree with.

The peaceful transfer of power is paramount. That got blown in in 2016 when inauguration protests led to an amazing amount of arrests, injuries, and even deaths. People simply did not accept Trump's win and were willing to take to the streets in violent protest.

What did you say about those protests, Roger? I don't recall you condemning those protest, condemning any of the investigations, condemning the special counsel...

or in any manner shape or form, taking the advice you so eagerly want to give others today.

Unfortunately that set the stage and it's likely we should brace for a REPEAT of the 2017 inauguration violence in 2021. But make no mistake. This was first started by liberals in defiance of Trump. Whatever happens this year will not be a first, will not be unprecedented, and probably should not be unexpected.

Even as it shouldn't happen and even if we all hope it doesn't.

Ashli Babbitt: American Patriot

Beonna Taylor: Drug dealing scum.

guess which one the left worships.

Compare the death of Babbitt, for example, to that of Breonna Taylor, the Black Lives Matter martyr who was killed when, one night last March, Louisville police officers announced themselves before entering her apartment, whereupon her boyfriend opened fire on them, shooting the first officer who came through the door. When the officers returned fire, they accidentally shot and killed Taylor, who was standing in the hallway next to her boyfriend.

For the killing of Taylor, whom recorded phone conversations indicate was the money handler for her former boyfriend's lucrative drug operation, the city of Louisville awarded her family $12 million. In light of this, what kind of settlement might the federal government, which oversees the Capitol Police, offer the family of Ashli Babbitt?

And how will she be remembered? Is she merely a statistic, or is she something more? Was she a reckless pro-Trump zealot, or the tragic and senseless victim of a nervous cop? Will she soon be forgotten, or will she one day be seen by like-minded Americans as the first casualty in our nation's Second Civil War? These are difficult, disturbing questions, but perhaps they're worth wrestling with. One thing is certain, though: When we read the vile comments about her death by those who don't share her political views, we see that something is very sick within our nation's body politic.

On Wednesday, January 6, 2021, an American woman was killed while taking part in a political protest that became a riot. She was unarmed, and at this point it's unclear why a Capitol Police lieutenant felt it necessary to use deadly force.

Her name was Ashli Babbitt.

It would be a profound bipartisan show of support for democratic norms — something utterly lacking the last five years — and a stark message to would-be presidents. Do not go here.

This brings us to the junior senator from Texas, Ted Cruz. He must be expelled from the Senate. He, too, must be held accountable for his efforts to undermine the presidential election.

It was Cruz who gathered support of other senators and senators-elect to object to the formal counting of electoral votes, not because there was voter fraud but because of the “unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities.”

It was Cruz who cynically said to Democrats on the Senate floor before the mob descended: “I understand your guy is winning right now.”

And it is Cruz who said only after the siege the “president’s rhetoric was irresponsible” and “we are now in the process of a peaceful transition of power to the next administration, the Joe Biden presidency.” He could have said this long before. After an insurrection is too late.

Let’s remember that 17 Texas Republicans, including Cruz, objected to counting Electoral College votes for Biden. Let’s also remember that silence in response to democratic harm is corrosive, and that in this regard, U.S. Reps. Chip Roy and Tony Gonzales, and U.S. Sen. John Cornyn were too silent about Biden’s victory for too long.

Why is it the most prominent Texas Republicans to speak up for democracy — Joe Straus and Will Hurd, true profiles in courage — are “former” elected officials?

It remains to be seen if the assault on the Capitol is a warning sign or a turning point for this nation. If we seek a turning point in support of democracy, then those who have damaged it must be sanctioned and repudiated.

Is this the sort of thing you meant, Scott?
_____

IN THE AFTERMATH OF Republican firebrand Donald Trump being named president-elect of the United States early Wednesday, reports appeared to surge of hate-fueled taunts and threats hurled by triumphant Trump supporters.

Swastikas and graffiti declaring "Sieg Heil 2016" were reportedly spray-painted in South Philadelphia. "Trump!" was scrawled on the door to a prayer room used by Muslim students at New York University. A gay pride flag was burned in Rochester, New York. And the apparent effigy of a black man was hanged above the entrance to a coffee shop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, dangling from the end of a rope.

Gosh, Ch, I must sincerely say that I don't remember any really, really serious public disorder reactions to Trump's 2016 election.

Why would that be? Selective memory or just not paying attention?
There were arrests made across the country. Hundreds in Washington D.C. where things were set on fire. Dozens were arrested in front of Trump Tower where NY had to shut down the entire area because they were pulling down poles and such. Even the Trump Tower in Chicago had protests and people were arrested. People gathered and some arrested in front of a variety of Trump hotels as well.

You seriously don't recall any of this?

Because it happened Reverend...

There are pictures of mobs in Union square trying to get into various memorials, etc... etc...

ROGER SIMON: Welcome to West China.

Did you ever wonder what it’s like to live in a one-party state?

Well, wonder no more. You’re living in one. The major means of communication—in today’s terms that means social media—have now been taken over completely by the left.

Not only has Donald Trump—still the president of the United States—been permanently banned from Twitter, its rapidly growing, open-to-all substitute Parler has almost simultaneously been de-platformed by Google.

You can’t get their app for Android anymore.

Apple threatens to be next, demanding Parler kowtow (by Saturday!) to Cupertino’s vision of what the world should be.

I suppose that’s a social-justicey-politically-correct totalitarianism led by left-leaning… or so they want us to believe… tech billionaires.

Sound Chinese?

More than a bit.

Think this was planned?

Just the other day I wrote of the “false flag” (left-wing provocateurs) behind the mayhem in the Capitol. Many in high places pooh-poohed what I and others were saying. I wasn’t too sure of it myself.

But let’s review what’s happened since:

Josh Hawley’s forthcoming book… on Big Tech, no less… is “canceled” by Simon & Schuster. Senator Hawley had been among the most outspoken about investigating the possibility of election fraud.

Twitter permanently blocks General Flynn. I guess they don’t think he has had enough already.

Twitter permanently blocks Lin Wood, the well-known attorney working to unmask possible fraud. Ditto for the courageous Sidney Powell.

Not to be outdone, Facebook blocks President Trump’s account. (Not sure who was first—Facebook or Twitter—not that it matters.)

More insidiously, Facebook starts to delete groups or forums of people who publicly stepped away from the Democratic Party because of its scandals.

(Elsewhere it’s revealed that Facebook banned accounts at the behest of Hunter Biden.)

YouTube announces it will no longer distribute videos investigating election fraud and that producers of such videos will be punished if they do.

All this in a couple of days, the excuse being, in almost all cases, that the conservatives involved were instigating violence, the “outrage” that occurred at the Capitol.

This from the people who ignored exponentially more violence and destruction for months all across urban America.

Sense a strategy here? A plan?

I know—I’m one of those conspiracy mongers. Everything has been “debunked.” Indeed, it was “debunked” before it happened.

Only I’m not a conspiracy monger, my friends. I’m one of those guys who is perfectly willing to admit it was Lee Harvey Oswald working alone from the Texas Schoolbook Depository.

I’m the opposite. I’m a Occam’s Razor guy—what you see is what you get.

And Occam’s Razor tells me the United States is turning into a near clone of the People’s Republic of China.

PELOSI’S EFFORTS TO INSERT HERSELF INTO THE MILITARY CHAIN OF COMMAND ARE THEMSELVES SEDITIOUS, and the military is unhappy:

Ms. Pelosi also said she had spoken with Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about “preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes.” . . .

But some Defense Department officials have privately expressed anger that political leaders seemed to be trying to get the Pentagon to do the work of Congress and Cabinet secretaries, who have legal options to remove a president.

Mr. Trump, they noted, is still the commander in chief, and unless he is removed, the military is bound to follow his lawful orders. While military officials can refuse to carry out orders they view as illegal, they cannot proactively remove the president from the chain of command. That would be a military coup, these officials said.

Trying to incite a military coup is sedition.

Roger... I don't defend any instigation of violence by anyone, including the President. So nobody is a "traitor" for not defending Trump. They shouldn't.

The only traitors are those who applaud it from the left and denounce it from the right. People like you and the Reverend, who take no issues with your leadership stoking the flames of the riots all summer that caused over a hundred billion dollars in damages to cities and private property.

That is the difference.

Conservatives admit when things are wrong.

Liberals never do.

David Daeval said...

almost all Republican politicians have been vociferous about the actions at the Capital. Conservative figures, even those who do believe that the presidential election is dubious, have condemned the bad actors. It is true that President Trump said to the protesters in a video, “We love you. You are very special.” This did not sound like the love of enemies I was talking about. He further foolishly tweeted, “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever!” But he was forcefully and correctly rebuked by many of his supporters—even those who think the election was indeed stolen. A different tone and language was the norm for Republicans and conservatives. Oklahoma Republican Representative James Lankford called them “rioters and thugs.” Senators Tom Cotton and Lindsay Graham called for all of them to be arrested and face “prosecutions to the fullest extent of the law.”

There is no public political or media support for the Crusiuses, Roofs, and McVeighs. Nor is there support for the QAnon-types or white supremacists who stormed the Capitol. That they are enemies of our country is absolutely right. But unlike the enemies I named, they have no public or political support that will allow them to do large-scale violence or effect change in our country. All things being equal, the danger they pose to our commonweal is much less than the danger posed by the radicals being coddled and protected by a large part of our political class.

Don't lie, Scott. I constantly condemned destruction of property, looting, and violence, and constantly worried that such actions might help Trump win reelection.

I also regretted the fact that those acts of violence got emphasized far above the MILLIONS of people who peacefully protested all over America.

And, btw, there were far more peaceful protesters than violent ones when Trump won election.

But you will continue to lie on.

On May 29, he told CNN that people “have a right to be, in fact, angry and frustrated. And more violence, hurting more people, isn’t going to answer the question."

On May 31, he wrote in a statement on Medium that protesting police brutality is “right and necessary” and “an utterly American response."

“But burning down communities and needless destruction is not,” Biden wrote. “Violence that endangers lives is not. Violence that guts and shutters businesses that serve the community is not.”

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

On June 2, in a speech in Philadelphia, recorded by ABC News, Biden said there is "no place for violence, no place for looting or destroying property or burning churches or destroying businesses."

"We need to distinguish between legitimate peaceful protest and opportunistic violent destruction," he said.

On July 28, in a speech in Wilmington, Delaware, he echoed that sentiment, per C-SPAN.

“Peaceful protesters should be protected – but arsonists and anarchists should be prosecuted – and local law enforcement can do that," he said.

On Aug. 31, after a man was fatally shot in Portland, Oregon, Biden released a statement on his campaign website with another condemnation of protest-related violence: "The deadly violence we saw overnight in Portland is unacceptable," he said. "Shooting in the streets of a great American city is unacceptable. I condemn this violence unequivocally. I condemn violence of every kind by anyone, whether on the left or the right. And I challenge Donald Trump to do the same."

Based on our research, the claim that President-elect Joe Biden condemned violence Jan. 6 but didn't condemn violent protests by BLM or antifa last summer is FALSE. From May to August, Biden made at least five statements condemning protest-related violence linked to anti-racist and anti-fascist demonstrations.

And, btw, there were far more peaceful protesters than violent ones when Trump won election.

Vast majority (as in 99%) of those who attended the Trump rally on the 6th did not enter the capital building. More to the point, of all of the hundreds of Trump rallies, there was only one that turned into a riot.

So why is there a difference?

Why when it is liberals do you put attention on those who are peaceful. But when there is a single riot that involves conservatives... that is your entire focus.

The difference is obvious.

If we both just judged the actions the same, then you would have to admit that your side causes 99% of the destruction.

But you cannot judge "actions" - you must preface it with hypocrisy to create any sort of equilibrium where none actually exists.
