Trump Plans to Fight Election Even After Rally Ends
10:29 am EST
“Many of Donald Trump’s most dogmatic supporters see a mass protest in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6—just two weeks shy of Inauguration Day 2021—as their last chance to disrupt President-elect Joe Biden’s win. But for the president himself, it’s just another day to complain,” the Daily Beast reports.

“Two people familiar with the matter say that in recent days, Trump has told advisers and close associates that he wants to keep fighting in court past Jan. 6 if members of Congress, as expected, end up certifying the electoral college results.

Said one source:
“The way he sees it is:
'Why should I ever let this go?… How would that benefit me?'”
_____________

Well, Mr. soon to be exPresident, it might go a small distance toward keeping you from going down in history as the biggest jerk ever to inhabit the White House.

Trump Rally In Georgia Could Be Super-Spreader Event
10:46 am
Organizers are anticipating as many as 20,000 people at President Trump’s rally for Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue on Monday, the eve of the U.S. Senate runoffs, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

In the run-up to November’s election, Trump crisscrossed the nation, holding mass rallies — sometimes in spite of objections from local authorities — and in defiance of guidance from his coronavirus task force.

U.S. Warns Iran Over Possible Attack
10:45 am
Wall Street Journal: “U.S. and Iraqi authorities warned Iran and Iranian-backed militias that any attacks on American diplomats or military forces here would be met with swift retaliation as the anniversary of a U.S. drone strike that killed one of Tehran’s top military leaders approached.”

3 Million Voted Early for Georgia Senate Runoffs
10:44 am
“A record 3 million Georgia voters cast their ballots before early voting ended for the U.S. Senate runoffs, setting up a showdown that will be decided on election day Tuesday,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Quote of the Day
10:42 am
“I think it’s awful. I am going to support my oath to the Constitution. That’s the loyalty test here.”
— Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), quoted by Politico, on Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-MO) intent to challenge the Electoral College vote on January 6.

Trump Gives Democrats an Opening In Georgia
10:41 am
“President Trump won’t get his coveted $2,000 stimulus checks — and he’s blaming the very Senate Republican leaders he’s trying to protect in the closing days of Georgia’s runoffs,” Politico reports.

“Though he is actively campaigning for the state’s two incumbent GOP senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, holding a Monday night rally to drive turnout to help save the Republican majority, Trump is continuing to run roughshod all over the party’s message for Tuesday’s must-win runoffs and, some Republicans worry, giving Democrats a perfect opening.”

The Guardian: Georgia runoffs will help define much of Biden’s first term.

How Trump Made People Care About Politics Again
Harry Enten:
“Love him or hate him, President Donald Trump made most Americans feel strongly about politics in a way no politician has in our lifetimes. Record numbers of Americans felt strongly favorable or unfavorable toward Trump during his time in office. (The strongly favorable and unfavorable was 71% in a Fox News poll last month, for instance.)”

“Trump’s presidency drove historic turnout and record donations to political campaigns in a country whose voters have often shown a disinterest in politics.”

Trump the GOP Arsonist
10:32 am
“President Trump is torching his own party and its leaders on his way out of power — and tossing gas on the fire with a public call for mass protest next week and a vote to overturn his defeat,” Axios reports.

“Trump is demanding Republicans fully and unequivocally embrace him — or face his wrath. This is self-inflicted, self-focused — and dangerous for a Republican Party clinging to waning Washington power.”

Are congressional Republicans breaking away from Trump?

When the election finally arrived, 21 million more Americans cast ballots than had done so in 2016. In the past four years, America’s population grew by 7.5 million. The increase in voter turnout was triple that.

And some of that massively increased turnout may actually be attributable to real (living) voters!

All of that massively increased turnout is attributable to people who are totally committed to never letting Trump near the White House again.

Great to see this #Resist repurposed.

A close female relative and I had a conversation recently. She was making conciliatory verbal gestures, in effect, saying that if everyone who supported Trump admits he lost, agrees they were wrong, and that Trump was evil, we can all move on amicably.

I responded, very calmly and dispassionately, which I was able to do because I was expecting this conversation, more or less as follows.

Using game theory, it has been determined that the proper way to respond to defection from optimal behavior between two parties, is to match any bad behavior by equal retaliation. Acquiescing in bad behavior without consequences simply gets you more of it.

So, the only rational rational response for Trump supporters, after the last four years is to respond to Biden exactly as Trump was treated:

#NotMyPresident
#StolenElection
#FuckBiden
#Resist

First, no one who voted for or supports Trump will recognized Biden as legitimate.

Second, everyone who voted for Trump will believe and continue to proclaim that the election was stolen, in this case with far more factual basis.

Third, Biden will not be given any deference or respect due to his office, but will be given only contempt and profane disrespect.

Fourth, there will be no prospect of cooperation but only opposition, in every lawful way, to everything he says, does, or proposes, all day, every day, until he is gone.

At some future date reconciliation may be possible. But not until the last four years has been repaid in full.

And the foregoing is on the presumption that Biden will be sworn in as President, which he should not be, and which may not happen.

#RESIST.

Trump is turning the Republican party into the Titanic.

President Trump is torching his own party and its leaders on his way out of power — and tossing gas on the fire with a public call for mass protest next week and a vote to overturn his defeat.

Why it matters: Trump is demanding Republicans fully and unequivocally embrace him — or face his wrath. This is self-inflicted, self-focused — and dangerous for a Republican Party clinging to waning Washington power.

Look at Trump just this week:

He's trying to burn down the party's chances in Tuesday's Georgia runoffs, raising doubts for Republican voters by tweeting yesterday that the state's elections are "both illegal and invalid, and that would include the two current Senatorial Elections."He's trying to burn down Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp — who won on the back of Trump's primary endorsement — because Kemp wouldn't interfere in the state's presidential results. Trump told Fox News' Maria Bartiromo that he's "ashamed" he endorsed Kemp, and tweeted that Kemp should resign because he's "an obstructionist who refuses to admit that we won Georgia, BIG."He's trying to burn down the party's credibility by stoking protests during Wednesday's congressional certification of President-elect Biden's Electoral College victory. Trump retweeted details about "#StopTheSteal" demonstrations, including one with the web address "WILDPROTEST." He tweeted "See you in D.C." — and "Be there, will be wild!"He's trying to burn down Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who congratulated President-elect Biden on his victory. Trump has falsely claimed credit for McConnell's landslide reelection. He's tossing other Republicans into the fire with the futile efforts to obstruct Biden's certification. McConnell, on a conference call with fellow Senate Republicans, called the upcoming vote "the most consequential I have ever cast," Jonathan Swan reported. He's trying to burn down Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), tweeting on New Year's Day that he wants South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to primary him.He lit the match on the last-ditch effort to raise stimulus checks to $2,000, which threatened to split the party before McConnell killed it.

The big picture: A united Republican Party could have claimed victory for outperforming expectations in House and Senate races, making inroads with Hispanics and delivering stimulus checks. Instead, the GOP is debating an implausible decertification of a presidential election.

making inroads with Hispanics

this is why i only read axios for laughs.

From the Tejanos of Southeast Texas to the Venezuelan-American enclave west of Miami and the Dominican-Americans a few miles to the east, Latinos turned out in big numbers for President Donald Trump on Nov. 3.

Of all the election-night surprises, this may have been the greatest. Even in Maricopa, the key county that Joe Biden captured en route to flipping Arizona into the Democrats’ column for the first time in two decades, the Latino vote inched ever so slightly toward Trump.

Collectively, these voters sent a clear message to Democrats that night: The long-held assumption that the growing Hispanic population would inexorably turn large swaths of the Sun Belt into solidly-blue strongholds—and hand the party control of the electoral map in the process—is badly misguided. Yes, a majority of Latinos still voted for Biden and, yes, his victory in Arizona helped pave his way to the presidency, but he was trounced in Florida and Texas by margins that almost no pollster predicted. And the shifting Latino vote in those states was a big reason why.

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2020-us-election-hispanic-latino-voters/

hispanics seek opportunity more than anything.

the left has only welfare checks and section 8 housing to offer.

democrats need to be concerned about the OUTROADS hispanics are making from THEM. you clowns desperately need a wall around your party to keep them IN. LOL.

Alarm Grows Over Russian Hacking
New York Times:
“Three weeks after the intrusion came to light, American officials are still trying to understand whether what the Russians pulled off was simply an espionage operation inside the systems of the American bureaucracy or something more sinister, inserting ‘backdoor’ access into government agencies, major corporations, the electric grid and laboratories developing and transporting new generations of nuclear weapons.

“At a minimum it has set off alarms about the vulnerability of government and private sector networks in the United States to attack and raised questions about how and why the nation’s cyberdefenses failed so spectacularly.”

Jacksonville Florida Republican mayor.

News4Jax sat down with Mayor Lenny Curry, State Attorney Melissa Nelson and Sheriff Mike Williams to ask about a violent trend.

According to News4Jax records, there have been 148 homicides so far this year and 466 people shot. Those numbers are on track to significantly beat last year’s record numbers.

Recently, there’s been a string of shootings in Arlington, including one where a 7-year-old and his father were shot outside a youth football game. Eight people were shot in the neighborhood over a six-day span.

“Very, very frustrated but we have to acknowledge that these are long-term investments,” Curry said.

The Jacksonville leaders acknowledge the city is heading in the wrong direction and the numbers are extremely high and concerning.

“We talked with law enforcement leaders across the country and nobody can really put their finger on what’s driving that,” Williams said. “But you’ve got increases across-the-board nationwide. We have a 20% increase in homicides, 20% increase in aggravated battery, 40% increase in overdose deaths.”

Williams announced the arrests of eight people Tuesday, part of a drug trafficking organization. He said the group is behind at least 15 murders, probably more.

Investigators are also using crime technology through the gun intelligence center, gunshot detection software and community programs like Cure Violence. But there are still issues. And that’s why leaders say they need to appeal to neighbors to speak up and report violence or red flags.

“Less than 20% of the shots now captured on that technology are ever even called into 911. So there are kids who go to bed every night hearing gunfire. That’s their normal. That’s part of their life. And people don’t call it in. And part of it is fear," Nelson said. "So, yes, it’s hard for a prosecutor. It’s hard for police officers who are out there canvassing, trying to put a case together when we talk to people as you do when you go to those scenes. And people say, ‘I didn’t see anything.’ And we know they did.”

“Cruz, who, like Josh Hawley, is thought to be considering a 2024 presidential bid, plans to release a statement this afternoon announcing his plans. Once the Texas Republican does so, several other senators from his party are expected to follow in a coordinated effort they consider distinct from Hawley’s.

The New York State Assembly proposed a bill to detain “disease carriers” the Governor deems “dangerous to the public health.”

The bill was authored by N. Nick Perry, a Democrat member of the New York State Assembly.

Bill A416 relates to “the removal of cases, contacts and carriers of communicable diseases that are potentially dangerous to the public health.”

The Governor would have sweeping powers to indefinitely detain American citizens and put them in internment camps.

According to the proposed bill, the Governor will also be able to detain people who have come in contact with the “carrier.”

The only way an individual would be released from detainment is if the “department” determines the person is no longer contagious.

Read the text from the proposed bill:

Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section 2120-a to read as follows:

§ 2120-A. REMOVAL AND DETENTION OF CASES, CONTACTS AND CARRIERS WHO ARE OR MAY BE A DANGER TO PUBLIC HEALTH; OTHER ORDERS.

1. THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE UTILIZED IN THE EVENT THAT THE GOVERNOR DECLARES A STATE OF HEALTH EMERGENCY DUE TO AN EPIDEMIC OF ANY COMMUNICABLE DISEASE.

2. UPON DETERMINING BY CLEAR AND CONVINCING EVIDENCE THAT THE HEALTH OF OTHERS IS OR MAY BE ENDANGERED BY A CASE, CONTACT OR CARRIER, OR SUSPECTED CASE, CONTACT OR CARRIER OF CONTAGIOUS DISEASE THAT, IN THE OPINION OF THE GOVERNOR, AFTER CONSULTATION WITH THE COMMISSIONER, MAY POSE AN IMMINENT AND SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH RESULTING IN SEVERE MORBIDITY OR HIGH MORTALITY, THE GOVERNOR OR HIS OR HER DELEGEE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE COMMISSIONER OR THE HEADS OF LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS, MAY ORDER THE REMOVAL AND/OR
DETENTION OF SUCH A PERSON OR OF A GROUP OF SUCH PERSONS BY ISSUING A SINGLE ORDER, IDENTIFYING SUCH PERSONS EITHER BY NAME OR BY A REASONABLY SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF THE INDIVIDUALS OR GROUP BEING DETAINED. SUCH PERSON OR GROUP OF PERSONS SHALL BE DETAINED IN A MEDICAL FACILITY OR OTHER APPROPRIATE FACILITY OR PREMISES DESIGNATED BY THE GOVERNOR OR HIS OR HER DELEGEE AND COMPLYING WITH SUBDIVISION FIVE OF THIS SECTION.

3. A PERSON OR GROUP REMOVED OR DETAINED BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR OR HIS OR HER DELEGEE PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION TWO OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE DETAINED FOR SUCH PERIOD AND IN SUCH MANNER AS THE DEPARTMENT MAY DIRECT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS SECTION.

USA TODAY
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The homes of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were vandalized over the weekend after Congress adjourned Friday without securing $2,000 stimulus checks.

Saturday morning, messages like "where's my money" and other expletives were written with spray paint across the front door and bricks of the Kentucky Republican's house in Louisville.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco home of Pelosi, a Democrat, was spray painted Friday morning with messages like "$2k cancel rent." Nearly a quarter of Senate Republicans are officially preparing to challenge President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win on Jan. 6, a stunning development that demonstrates just how far some in the GOP will go to align themselves with President Donald Trump’s flailing claims that the election was stolen from him.

Joining Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), eleven more Republican senators announced Saturday they will challenge Biden’s election victory next week when Congress gathers to certify the Electoral College vote. The movement is led by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who circulated the idea among Senate Republicans of voting against certification of the election unless there’s an election audit.

Letter in our local paper The Pantagraph 1/1/21:

We've survived reckless endangerment

Dr. Atlas' idea about "herd immunity" applied to COVID-19 has its roots in the "survival of the fittest" philosophy that also has a place in white supremacy ideology and Germany's "master race" policies in the 19305 and 1940s.

As the pandemic got a foothold in the U.S. last March, for a few weeks there was an effort by Trump's administration to mobilize an "all of government" response, but once it became apparent the elderly, minorities and poor living in "blue states" were the most severely impacted, Trump lost interest in containing the spread. So governors had to shoulder the responsibility.

Some states fared better as governors in the Northeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, West Coast and Mountain West led by Democrats and moderate Republicans got the disease somewhat contained.

Then in April the White House began a disinformation campaign, and businesses were opened to spur economic growth without necessary health and safety measures in mostly Republican controlled Sunbelt and Great Plains states which fueled a summer spike of COVID-19.

Next, again ignoring proper preparations, schools and colleges were ordered to open or have funding withheld as Trump held many rallies plus the RNC convention at the White House where thousands were crowded together for hours without masks. Thus a third spike ensued coinciding with the election, a despicable plan to suppress Biden-Harris voters.

What Trump and his GOP accomplices have done is reckless endangerment at best or at worst COVID-19 genocide.

Thankfully Biden- Harris voters went to the polls in record numbers trouncing Trump. Now Trump falsely claims the election was rigged, but there is no proof of widespread fraud. Trump has been AWOL as he
plots his future,
divisively tweeting,
shamelessly scamming supporters,
defiantly hosting parties and rallies further damaging America,
leaving our nation in pitiful shape.

Far-right conspiracy theorists and ultra conservative members of the GOP—who have less and less daylight between them as the days go by—have gone into collective meltdown mode, apparently triggered, at least in part, by calls for violence by Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Trump-allied lawyer L. Lin Wood.

On Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Jeremy Kernodle, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, dismissed a hail-mary lawsuit filed by Gohmert and 11 Arizona Republicans that attempted to give Vice President Mike Pence the ability to overturn the results of the November presidential election won by Joe Biden.

As the president of the Senate, Pence will preside over the ceremonial counting of the Electoral College votes, which have already certified Biden as the clear winner, on Wednesday.

Trumpist Lawyer Lin Wood Goes on Unhinged Rant Suggesting Justice John Roberts Is a Murderous Pedophile

In an interview Friday evening on pro-Trump news network Newsmax, Gohmert falsely claimed that letting the will of the voters stand would “mean the end of our republic, the end of the experiment in self-government."

There is one man who is thrilled by this, is Vladimir Putin.

The Republicans are turning into dictators who poison their opponents.

Trumpians go even more Batshit crazy and are now eating their own.

Pro-Trump Lawyer Calls Mike Pence a 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' Only Focused on 2024. Wood posted. "I do NOT trust VP Mike Pence. He is wolf in sheep's clothing. Pence is only focused on himself & 2024. He does not support President Trump. Let Pence hear your voices & read your words. If he does not support Trump, his career is over. Warn him.”

"Lin Wood, “If Pence is arrested, will save the election. Pence will be in jail awaiting trial for treason. He will face execution by firing squad. He is a coward & will sing like a bird & confess ALL.”

Wood then shifted his target, tweeting: "when arrests for treason begin, put Chief Justice John Roberts … and Mitch McConnell at the top of the list."

Last month, Wood appeared alongside Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn and controversial pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell at a rally in Atlanta. At that event, Wood called for Gov. Brian Kemp to be arrested. On New Year's Eve, Wood, who is believed to be a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory, tweeted that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is still alive.

Ex-Pence Aide 'Very Concerned' About Trump Inciting Violence on January 6.
Troye, a Republican,
"I am actually very concerned that there will be violence on January 6, because the president himself is encouraging it. This is what he does. He tweets, he incites it, he gets his followers and supporters to behave in this manner."

Appeals Court Dismisses Gohmert’s Election Lawsuit
9:18 pm
A federal appeals court on Saturday dismissed a lawsuit by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and other Republicans that sought to expand Vice President Pence’s legal authority to effectively overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral win, The Hill reports.

Yaup! Big time! (Remember, too, that Senate Republicans already have plenty to worry about in 2022; they have to defend -- as of today -- 21 seats as compared to just 13 for Democrats.)

What Trump's threats against Thune and Kemp suggest is that the outgoing President is entirely comfortable ripping the Republican Party in two: Those who back him until the bitter end (and beyond) and those who, well, don't.

Which, if it comes to pass, is an utter disaster for the near-term (and maybe middle and long term ) future of the GOP. A fissure that creates a Trump party and a Republican Party would likely lead to losses up and down the ballot in swing seats and states -- as there are simply not enough Republicans in the country to split themselves up and still win.

Smart conservative minds -- like Thune and McConnell -- understand this math. Trump either doesn't or doesn't care. Either way, what he is threatening to do to the Republican Party could leave it badly damaged for years to come.
------------

The Republican party may fade away into history because of Donald Trump.

Trump Loyalists Put Pence In a Bad Spot
11:32 pm
Washington Post:
“Though Pence’s role is strictly ceremonial, the lawyer Sidney Powell and other conspiracy-minded Trump allies are trying to convince the president that Pence has the power to overturn the election by rejecting some of Biden’s electors.

“After Pence labored for four years to stay in the mercurial president’s good graces, his performance on Wednesday could risk a rupture on their 14th-to-last day in office."

Trump Adviser Claims Inauguration Can Be Delayed
11:41 pm
Trump adviser Peter Navarro falsely told Fox News that President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20 can be postponed.

Said host Jeanine Pirro:
“January 20th cannot be changed, that’s constitutional.”

Replied Navarro:
“Well it can be changed, actually. We can go past that date… we can go past that date if we need to.”

__________

I would not advise you to try.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

I wrote this on my Facebook page

On January 6th, VP Pence will open up the envelopes from each state, and announce the results from each state.

Senators and of Congressmen or women can call for a meeting of each branch.

The ONLY way they can refuse to count the ballots is to get a majority of each house to not certify the election results by a majority vote, with each state gets one vote.

Unless one branch refuses to certify the outcome, Vice President Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in on January 20th by the Chief Justice Roberts of the Supreme Court.
The odds against Trump getting sworn in are astronomicaly unlikely.

Not only has Trump not ruined the Republican party, he has expanded it to include 36% Hispanics, 19% blacks and working class hourly workers.

This is why tens of millions think the vote was fraudulent. You don't pull all these voters away from a party whose candidate had trouble filling venues and still see that guy get 80M votes. Those middle of the night vote dumps require explanations.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

The courts have denied 59 of 60 because there is zero evidence of fraud, including later day ballots. They came from the major cities, that required more time to count millions of American's votes.

If you believe that the court system is unpatriotic and out to get the Orange Monster, your out of your mind!

Myballs said...

And yet 40% of the country 5binks the election is fraudulent. Including a third of all Indy voters. You cannot just pretend that so many are asking questions. I know a simple thinker like you finds it easier to do do. But for so many to feel this way, all the anomalous activities must be addressed.

It just makes you wonder how officials in red state cities like Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Cleveland, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, St Louis, Indianapolis, Nashville, etc... can all finish counting usually that night or the next day (with the exception of the few actual late arriving ballots).

But cities in blue states that are the same size or smaller take days, or even weeks to finish their counts.

Do blue state governors and election officials need to take lessons from Red state governors and election officials on how to count ballots? Perhaps some remedial math lessons or simple lessons in organization and planning?

this is particularly hilarious when you harken back to the occasional article the alky would plagiarize that would unequivocally state just how much smarter democrats were than republicans.
