Scorched Earth...

The other day I heard someone make a simple statement: "I don't want Donald Trump to win, and I don't care what has to be done to prevent it."  Upon drilling into this statement, it was admitted that if this person had the ability to actually "rig" the election in some way, they would most certainly do so. Consequences damned.

This sounds remarkably similar in context to the editor over at the NY Times who suggested he would risk going to jail to release Donald Trump's tax returns.

The bottom line is that there is so much unreasonable and irrational hate in today's society that many people don't really care "what the cost" will be... they just want Donald Trump to lose. This begs the question: As it pertains to the 2016 election cycle, what "has" America (as a society) already sacrificed in a blatant attempt to prevent the ultimate "outsider" to be allowed into the oval office.

The first sacrifice is the reputation of the Department of Justice and the FBI. While many already believed that the DOJ has always been a political organization, most everyone believed that the FBI was objective. In fact,]most everyone believed that James Comey was a stand up guy. Almost nobody still believes that the FBI is objective and that James Comey is still an honest guy. Moving forward, the American public will see the FBI as political. A large portion of Americans will always believe that Clinton got away with criminal behavior. All of this will be seen as a means for the Democratic Administration to further their champion as the heir apparent to the Presidency. To make sure Hillary was elected President, the reputation and integrity of an entire agency was sacrificed.

The second is the further erosion of trust in the media. To hear the NY Times editor admit he would commit a crime and risk jail in order to publish private tax returns is probably not too surprising. But to hear that people within CNN actually colluded with the Clinton campaign by sending them the debate questions ahead of time actually "is" surprising. CNN just assured themselves that they will never host and none of their personalities will ever moderate another debate that includes Republicans. I cannot imagine that the GOP would ever agree to it.

Moreover, the open attacks of hatred from so many journalists is unprecedented. While in the past, the media has always skewed to the left, this Presidential cycle has been at a different level. Let's not forget that Donald Trump won the primary with a record number of votes. Has has set records for the number of small donors for a GOP candidate, and still has the support of tens of millions of Americans. To listen to the media, pretty much all of these supporters are racist, white trash, uneducated idiots. They simply treat Trump as if he is the leader of the new Nazi Party, rather than a political outsider who has (in essence) captured much of the working class voter that "used" to represent the Democratic Party.

Third, I believe that the office of the Presidency has been forever tainted. Ultimately, it was the responsibility of the White House to make sure that any criminal investigation of a potential Presidential candidate would be viewed as fair and impartial. The only legitimate means to this would be to appoint a special prosecutor, as every other President/Attorney General has done in similar situations that involved high level political figures. But instead, they decided to keep the investigation in house, cut sweat heart deals with those being investigated, and even allowed the FBI to destroy evidence in the course of it all. While this overlaps with the erosion of trust of the DOJ, and the newfound distrust of the FBI... ultimately this goes back to the President who simply needed to make the right call.

Lastly, the legitimacy of the next President will be next to non-existent. Whether the President is Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, half the country will be fairly disgusted with the results and there will be almost no chance of cooperation between Parties at this point. Too many people understand that Hillary Clinton got away with criminal behavior, too many people will believe that the election was not fair, and too many people will question the results.  On the flip side too many people have been led to believe that Donald Trump is a Hitler loving, skin head wanna be, who hates women, and would just as soon kick a puppy than pet it. Either way, the next President is screwed and you can put that blame fully on the shoulders of irrational Donald Trump haters.

Hillary Clinton is unfit to be president of the United States.

In a conventional election she would be down 20 points with absolutely no chance of winning the White House.

Even now she only has a 50-50 chance of winning.

If the direction of the polls in the swing states, plus Arizona, Utah and perhaps even Texas and Missouri continue in the Clinton direction she will get a Democratic Senate. Yes, the odds or an electoral college landslide. The percentage may exceed 10%. His threats of violence "If I win" does not come true, is dangerous and you ignore that too, when you blame Clinton for everything.

The biggest problem is going to be, is the only Republicans that will survive the landslide, are from the gerrymandered congressional districts. Ryan would work with the Clinton administration, to take on issues where he and they agree. But the Tea Party remnants are going to make it hard to get things done. The Democrats will then follow the Truman "Do nothing congress" and reverse the usual tend to increase opposition numbers. The reason CH, is ironically the Trump strategy against DC will bring us a united government we haven't had for a long time.

That's the only thing that Trump will do good for the country.

Adult movie star Jessica Drake became the 11th woman to accuse Donald Trump of inappropriate sexual misconduct during a press conference in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 22.

Flanked by civil rights attorney Gloria Allred, Drake spoke publicly about her claims against the Republican presidential candidate, 70, for the first time in front of reporters on Saturday afternoon.

PHOTOS: Donald Trump's Most Offensive and Outrageous Quotes Ranked
"Ten years ago, I was working for Wicked Pictures, an adult film company, at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe," the adult entertainment actress said during the press conference. "I was at Wicked's booth when I met Donald Trump in the celebrity gift room early in the morning before he teed off. He flirted with me and invited me to walk along the golf course with him, which I did. During that time, he asked me for my phone number, which I gave to him. Later that evening, he invited me to his room. I said I didn't feel right going alone, so two other women came with me."

"In the penthouse suite, I met Donald again," Drake continued. "When we entered the room, he grabbed each of us tightly in a hug and kissed each one of us without asking permission. He was wearing pajamas. A bodyguard was also present. He asked me about details on my job as an adult film star — about shooting porn, and he also asked us about our personal relationships and whether we were married or single. We answered his questions. It felt like an interview. About 30 or 45 minutes later, we left his room."

PHOTOS: 12 Times Donald Trump Has Body-Shamed Stars Over the Years
Drake then says she returned to her bedroom when she received a call from a man asking for her on Trump's behalf. "He said Donald wanted me to come back upstairs to Donald's suite," she explained. "I indicated I did not wish to return. Then Donald called. He asked me to return to his suite and have dinner with him. He also invited me to a party; I declined. Donald then asked me, 'What do you want? How much?' I told him that I couldn't because I had to return to L.A. for work. I said that as an excuse because I didn't want him to continue asking me, and I didn't want to be with him. After that, I received another call from either Donald, or a male calling on his behalf, offering me $10,000. I declined again and once more gave, as an excuse, that I had to return to Los Angeles for work. I was then told Mr. Trump would allow me to use his private jet only if I accepted his private invitation."

Source: DOJ Told U.S. Attorney To ‘Stand Down’ On ND Pipeline Protests

Attorney General Loretta Lynch refused to meet with National Sheriff’s Association (NSA) Executive Director Jonathan Thompson about the law enforcement issues facing communities in North Dakota as a result of protests of the Dakota Access Pipeline and the DOJ wants the ND U.S. Attorney to stay away from the situation.

Protesters trying to stop the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline are threatening and intimidating nearby residents, commuters, and press as well as threatening the lives of law enforcement officers.

Arson, vandalism, trespassing, killing livestock, and professional rioters with long rap sheets are reportedly creating enormous troubles.

So what Roger and James want is another four years of lawlessness as long as it's politically correct lawlessness.

AT GETTYSBURG, Trump Talks Again of ‘Totally Rigged’ System

“Donald Trump traveled to the site of the bloodiest battle of the Civil War, where he suggested that the United States is nearly as divided now as it was then,” the Washington Post reports.

“But instead of laying out his vision for uniting the country, as President Abraham Lincoln once did here, Trump declared that the system is rigged against him, that election results cannot be trusted, that Hillary Clinton should have been barred from running for president, that the media is ‘corrupt’ and that he will sue all of the women who have accused him of sexual assault.”

Clinton Shifts Focus to House and Senate Races

Washington Post:
“Emboldened by polls predicting an electoral-college landslide in the presidential race, Clinton is shifting her strategy to lift up other Democrats coast to coast. She and her party are rushing to capitalize on a turbulent turn in Trump’s candidacy, which has ruptured the Republican Party, to make down-ballot gains that seemed unlikely just a month ago.”

“For Clinton, the move is opportunistic and has governing implications. If elected, a mandate may not be enough for her to muscle a progressive agenda on immigration and other issues through a Republican-controlled Congress. She would almost certainly govern more efficiently with Democratic majorities.”

Clinton Hammers Toomey While Tying Him to Trump

Hillary Clinton ripped Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) in a speech here in Pennsylvania, trying to link him to Donald Trump and a long list of Trump’s past incendiary statements, Politico reports.

Said Clinton: “He still refuses to stand up to Donald Trump. Now a lot of Republicans have. They have had the grit and the guts to stand up and say he does not represent me.”

She continued: “But Pat Toomey heard Donald attack a grieving Gold Star family who lost their son in the Iraq war. He heard Donald call Mexican immigrants rapists. He heard him say terrible things about women. He heard him spread the lie that our first black president wasn’t really born in America. Now how much more does Pat Toomey need to hear? If he doesn’t have the courage to stand up to Donald Trump after all this, then can you be sure he’ll stand up for you when it counts?”

What It's Like to Be a Target of Trump Supporters

Donald Trump's most fervent supporters are not big fans of Muslims, or Mexican immigrants, or Democrats, or Black Lives Matter, or a host of other groups. However, some of their fiercest vitriol is reserved for those on the right who dare to oppose their candidate.

The National Review's David French has written a disturbing piece about what it's like to be on the receiving end of their anger.

For example, French's daughter is African American, having been adopted from Ethiopia. He has been advised many times that this means he is "race-cucking" or "raising the enemy." Further:
_________

"I saw images of my daughter's face in gas chambers, with a smiling Trump in a Nazi uniform preparing to press a button and kill her. I saw her face photo-shopped into images of slaves. She was called a "niglet" and a "dindu." The alt-right unleashed on my wife, Nancy, claiming that she had slept with black men while I was deployed to Iraq, and that I loved to watch while she had sex with "black bucks." People sent her pornographic images of black men having sex with white women, with someone photoshopped to look like me, watching."
____________

Beyond the sexual stuff and the photoshopped images, French and his wife have had their lives threatened many times. They have had people hack into their phone calls. They have had to call the police, in fear that intruders had broken into their house. As a result of all this, they have found it necessary to get concealed weapons permits, and to train their entire family in gun usage. French observes that, "I have contributed to National Review for more than ten years now, and have been deeply involved in many of America's most emotional culture-war battles for more than 20. I've never experienced anything like this before."

We can only hope that 2016 is an aberration, and not the new normal. (Christopher Bates)

I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the political powers of the two major parties. Democrats for forcing the nomination of an unelectable candidate, Republicans for their cowardice in the face of their unelectable candidate. These people have forgotten the true purpose of a two-party system, and what has kept it stable. When it fails to provide the people with reasonable choices, it serves no purpose beyond preserving the power structure. That won't last long in America.

Nearly 10,000 soldiers, many of whom served multiple combat tours, have been ordered to repay large enlistment bonuses — and slapped with interest charges, wage garnishments and tax liens if they refuse — after audits revealed widespread overpayments by the California Guard at the height of the wars last decade."

Maybe this will help CH realize that the rigged election is nothing but BS. He should be proud most swing states are R controlled which would make it hard for hillary cheating like donnie claims.

In the rare instances when fraud occurs, it is usually done through the use of absentee or mail ballots (something poll watchers will have no power to monitor) or through manipulation of the vote totals after the ballots are cast. And no one, I think, believes that the election systems in the battleground states, most of which are controlled by Republicans, will be tilted by administrators in an effort to elect Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton has vaulted to a double-digit advantage in the inaugural ABC News 2016 election tracking poll, boosted by broad disapproval of Donald Trump on two controversial issues: His treatment of women and his reluctance to endorse the election’s legitimacy.

Likely voters by a vast 69-24 percent disapprove of Trump’s response to questions about his treatment of women. After a series of allegations of past sexual misconduct, the poll finds that some women who’d initially given him the benefit of the doubt have since moved away.

See PDF with full results, charts and tables here.

Fifty-nine percent of likely voters, moreover, reject Trump’s suggestion that the election is rigged in Clinton’s favor, and more, 65 percent, disapprove of his refusal to say whether he’d accept a Clinton victory as legitimate. Most strongly disapprove, a relatively rare result.

All told, Clinton leads Trump by 12 percentage points among likely voters, 50 to 38 percent, in the national survey, her highest support and his lowest to date in ABC News and ABC News/Washington Post polls. Gary Johnson has 5 percent support, Jill Stein 2 percent.

The results mark a dramatic shift from Clinton’s +4 points in the last ABC/Post poll Oct. 13. That survey was conducted after disclosure of an 11-year-old videotape in which Trump crudely described his sexual advances toward women, but before the events that have followed: A series of women saying he sexually assaulted them, which Trump has denied; his continued refusal to say whether he’d accept the election’s legitimacy; and the final debate, which likely voters by 52-29 percent say Clinton won.

This inaugural 2016 ABC News tracking poll, produced for ABC by Langer Research Associates, was conducted Thursday through Saturday among 1,391 adults, including 874 likely voters. This is the first in what will be daily ABC News tracking poll reports from now to Election Day. The Washington Post will join ABC’s tracking survey later this week.

The previous ABC/Post poll found a sharp 12-point decline in enthusiasm for Trump among his supporters, almost exclusively among those who’d preferred a different GOP nominee. Intended participation now has followed: The share of registered Republicans who are likely to vote is down 7 points since mid-October.

Vote preference results among some groups also are striking. Among them:

• Clinton leads Trump by 20 percentage points among women, 55-35 percent. She's gained 12 points (and Trump's lost 16) from mid-October among non-college-educated white women, some of whom initially seemed to rally to Trump after disclosure of the videotape.

• Clinton has doubled her lead to 32 points, 62-30 percent, among college-educated white women, a group that’s particularly critical of his response to questions about his sexual conduct. (Seventy-six percent disapprove, 67 percent strongly.)

• That said, Clinton's also ahead numerically (albeit not significantly) among men, 44-41 percent, a first in ABC News and ABC/Post polling.

• Trump is just +4 among whites overall, 47-43 percent, a group Mitt Romney won by 20 points in 2012. Broad success among whites is critical for any Republican candidate; nonwhites, a reliably Democratic group, favor Clinton by 54 points, 68-14 percent.
