President's approvals holding steady... maybe even rising.

Now let's be clear, there hasn't been any large swing in the President's favor, and he is still looking at historically dismal ratings. But overall the tracking polls have snuck up a point or two, and the RCP average has gone up 1.6% in the past five days.

Now the "only" reason this is news, is that places like the NY Times and Washington Post have demanding that the issues of last weekend had brought the President's approvals in to a tail spin. The NY Times editorial today suggested that the President's approvals have already dropped south of 35% (a dubious claim that simply isn't supported by fact) and will no doubt drop further (an opinion that is apparently quite obvious to current Trump haters, but not many others).

I think they are about to get surprised.

Democrats and liberal media always overreach, and always suffer a backlashed.

Not long ago, something like 65% of those approving of Trump have responded, in polls, that they would not change their mind no matter what Trump does.

By definition, it is an irrational world view. By the numbers, Trump's approval is getting close to that core of irrational support, so I wouldn't expect any more large reductions in his ratings. He's just about at the floor already.

Wp's point is legitimate. Just as it was for Obama. How many millions voted for him twice because of his skin color?

Some of Trump's support is because his economic policies are working. Gdp is already projected over 3%, something Obama's stifling red tape policies never realized.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

wp is correct also.

But I have a simple question.

Is there anything he has said or done, responsible for the negative stories? Or is it solely the "hatred" of the President?

Who was actually predicting that the GDP growth will exceed 3%?. A credible source.

In Michigan, 36 percent of voters approve of Trump’s job performance (including 19 percent who strongly approve), while 55 percent disapprove (including 40 percent who strongly do).

In Pennsylvania, 35 percent give the president’s job a thumbs up (17 percent strongly), versus 54 percent who disapprove (41 percent strongly).

And in Wisconsin, 34 percent of voters approve of Trump (17 percent strongly), compared with 56 percent who disapprove (42 percent strongly).

In 2016’s general election, Trump won all three states by a combined 80,000 votes, becoming the first Republican to carry these states since the 1980s.

Asked if Trump’s conduct as president made them proud or embarrassed them, 64 percent of voters in Michigan and Wisconsin say they’ve been embarrassed, while 63 percent say that in Pennsylvania.

I don't think he is capable of digging himself out of the grave . Put the nail in the coffin and wait another four years so we can get rid of the man . The Democrats have to figure out a way to have a strategy to take back the House of Representatives and the Senate in 2018 that I don't see it working at this time unfortunately .

Roger if you didn't make you point in the first thread with that post what makes you think you'll make it now?

You are getting as bad as the pederast.

Bloomberg has a story about 3% growth for 2nd qtr. Combibe that with corporate earnings highest in nine years.

Obama lost years gdp 1.9 %.

Anything better then that is a win.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Well I can agree with 3% that's I've done some looking around and that's about it very possible. Now it would be nice to go back to the 4.0 plus that we used to get 30 years ago but with the loss of our industrial base our economy is much different than it was.

And for common just for your satisfaction I see no reason to go back to the old thread to make a comment and ask a question.

I'm just sitting here comfortably watching my Angels winning again another game against Baltimore. I have tuned. Most of the politics today he said for you know back and forth here a couple times. And yes I'm using the microphone sometimes it's not quite dramatically intact correct I'm laughing at myself. You know I can go back to win the dial-up phones and it's a whole different world to say the least during my 1 year in college they have the calculators for the first time. They were expensive! And all they would do is Basic 4 plus it'll add subtract divide and multiply that it. So have a good time with the internet and the change world I have just loved it from the time it started. I know some people my age that they don't even get on the Internet it's just a bunch of all face plugged and all that face paste and all that. I think they're missing the world as it is. And speaking of the internet Twitter may end up being the death of trump before it's all over with cuz he just can't shut the hell up I mean conducting by Oren Affairs foreign affairs but by a tweet. I mean really is that right is it smart is a good thing for the country? Over 60% of the people wish you would quit using Twitter including a vast majority of Republicans. That's one of the things that leads me to think he's compulsively dangerous because even simple something simple of that like that and he can't just say no no I'm the boss and I do what I want and I can do what I want that's enough for now I like to speak and have a good speaker but all I'm doing right now is talking to my damn telephone speaking of impulsive laughing

Trump Underwater In 3 States That Tipped Election

A new NBC News/Marist poll in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin shows President Trump’s approval underwater:

In Michigan, 36% of residents statewide approve of his job performance, and 55% disapprove.

In Pennsylvania, 33% approve of how President Trump is doing in his post, and 52% disapprove.

In Wisconsin, the president’s score is similarly upside down, 33% to 56%.

Said pollster Lee Miringoff: “For residents of these three critical electoral states, the reaction to the first round of the Trump presidency is decidedly negative. Residents are clearly dissatisfied in how candidate Trump transitioned into President Trump.”

When I want to honest answer . Others keep saying that the media is out to get Trump . But you never seem to accept the fact that he says somethings outrageous? When the bugs me the most is when he said find people on both sides. I do not understand how are you can think that anyone that were in a KKK robes or chanting anti-semantic logos and calling for blood and all this other stuff, why any of them, any single one of them a fine person ? I just don't get that I just simply don't get that.

I don't like the violent behavior that happened on the other side but they were down there because against Nazis and the KKK and the white superiority movement. Those can be fine people because they are against absolute evil. The young lady that was murdered was a good person she was a fine person . Yet you will say that some of those anti-somatic KKK's white superior people are fine people! Perhaps you do not agree with number 45 as I like to say or you just don't want to reveal that you can actually think outside the box once in a while.

Why can you believe that some of those people currently KKK signs etc. etc. can be fine people? It's a simple question . If you think you can be fine people explain it . We can talk about them right now you just say the president was right we don't want to talk about it and you know what we need to talk about this seriously and honestly because I think many of you are starting to wonder is he sane or not.

As to the poll I think WP hit it on the nose. He is at rock bottom and probably will not go below that number. Unless some dramatic event that no one can see coming is not gonna get much of a better than it is now for the next 3 1/2 years.

Applauding, James points out and L. A. Times editorial that said: said...

These are not normal times.

The man in the White House is reckless and unmanageable, a danger to the Constitution, a threat to our democratic institutions.

Last week some of his worst qualities were on display: his moral vacuity and his disregard for the truth, as well as his stubborn resistance to sensible advice. As ever, he lashed out at imaginary enemies and scapegoated others for his own failings. Most important, his reluctance to offer a simple and decisive condemnation of racism and Nazism astounded and appalled observers around the world.

With such a glaring failure of moral leadership at the top, it is desperately important that others stand up and speak out to defend American principles and values.

This is no time for neutrality, equivocation or silence. Leaders across America — and especially those in the president’s own party — must summon their reserves of political courage to challenge President Trump publicly, loudly and unambiguously.

Enough is enough.

I don't like the violent behavior that happened on the other side but they were down there because against Nazis and the KKK and the white superiority movement.

So it OK to behave violently if the those other people are "bad" people.

You know that's just how some Germans justify killing Jews. They were "bad" people.

You're no better than those Germans. And you're no better than the Nazies and KKK you say you hate.

If not Trump then Pence said...

It's early. Waaaaaay early. But President Trump is the odds-on favorite to be re-elected to the White House.

Paddy Power, one of the biggest betting parlors in Ireland and the U.K., has been taking bets for years on U.S. presidential elections. And they start early.

Already, Trump's odds are 2 to 1, the best of any potential candidate. The worst — Kim Kardashian, at 275 to 1.

In between are a slew of names, new and old. At 100 to 1, Mr. Kardashian, Kanye West. At No. 2, Vice President Mike Pence at 15 to 2. A Democrat, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, is in third at 9 to 1.

GOP Doubts About Trump Burst Into the Open

President Trump’s “racially fraught comments about a deadly neo-Nazi rally have thrust into the open some Republicans’ deeply held doubts about his competency and temperament, in an extraordinary public airing of worries and grievances about a sitting president by his own party,” the AP reports.

“Behind the high-profile denunciations voiced this week by GOP senators once considered Trump allies, scores of other, influential Republicans began to express grave concerns about the state of the Trump presidency. In interviews with Associated Press reporters across nine states, 25 Republican politicians, party officials, advisers and donors expressed worries about whether Trump has the self-discipline and capability to govern successfully.”

How Democrats Could Win 50 House Seats In 2018

NBC News: “As Democrats look to the horizon in 2018, they think they see a distant tsunami forming in their favor. Trump has dreadful approval ratings; Democrats are dominating generic ballot tests, which ask voters which party they want to control Congress; and presidents almost always lose a slew of seats in their first midterm elections.

“The last time a president went into his first midterm election as unpopular as Trump is now was in 1946, when Harry Truman lost 55 House seats. The Senate may be out of reach but Democrats say they can almost feel the House Speaker’s gavel in their hands.”

Tax Reform Is Nearly Impossible Now

Stan Collender: “Tax reform — the kind of wholesale change to the existing system that was enacted in the 1980s and that Donald Trump has repeatedly promised — requires a politically strong and disciplined president. The magnitude of the changes and the very large number of potential losers from tax reform requires a president who can twist arms (and, if need be, legs), provide political cover for the many tough votes the House and Senate will need to cast and is able to sell the tax bill to what is very likely to be an at least partially skeptical nation.

“In light of the aftermath of the events in Charlotte, Virginia, and the firing/resignation of Steve Bannon, we now know for sure that Donald Trump is not currently that kind of president and can’t do any of these things.

“As a result, the comprehensive tax reform Trump so often promised, that congressional leaders so badly seem to want, that the business community is desperate to get and on which so much of the White House’s economic program is based is very unlikely in 2017. And the prospects for 2018 don’t look that good either.”

3% GDP is encouraging. The problem is, it will evaporate instantly if Trump blunders into a shooting war with North Korea. Or a trade war with China or even our own trading partners.

The best that we can hope for is continued incompetence and chaos in the Administration to limit the damage Trump can do to our economic recovery.
