Pittsburgh Penguins visit White House - The left is upset

So according to all sources, the team and the President all had a good time. The NHL and the Penguins franchise both put out statements to the effect that the visit was not political, it was an endorsement of any political policy, but rather a traditional event that they would attend regardless of who was in the White House.

Of course, this didn't stop the media as describing the visit as "controversial" and in some cases actually criticizing the Penguins for accepting the invitation and attending. Others flat out suggested that the Penguins, the NHL in general, and NHL fans are white racists:
An NBA champion was invited to the White House two decades before an NHL champion, yet that tradition didn’t stop Stephen Curry and the Warriors from speaking out against going (with Trump pulling his invitation to them afterwards). The NHL may have other reasons for its attempts at political neutrality — namely, it’s a league comprised primarily of wealthy, white men who aren’t impacted in the same way by the issues being protested in the NFL — but in wake of the collision between Trump and activism by athletes, that’s an uphill climb. Link
Apparently, according to the media, the new acceptable norm for athletes is the spoiled brats of the NBA refusing to go to the White House, and the spoiled brats of the NFL refusing to stand for the anthem. Anyone who does other wise is now a problem and I guess doesn't understand "reality".

Of course, the Pittsburgh Penguins quite literally are a "multi-cultural" team... represented by players from eight different countries. This includes players from Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, and of course the U.S. and Canada. But according to the haters, they simply are not represented by the "correct" culture (aka: black America) and therefor they simply "don't get it".

Section 4.
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

The exact definition of "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" is a judgement call, by the Vice President, members of the cabinet and if it's made permanent, the members of the house make that call.

Robert Reich.

This morning I phoned my old friend, a Republican former member of Congress.

Me: So what’s up? Is Corker alone, or are others also ready to call it quits with Trump?

He: All I know is they’re simmering over there.

Me: Flake and McCain have come pretty close.

He: Yeah. Others are thinking about doing what Bob did. Sounding the alarm. They think Trump’s nuts. Unfit. Dangerous.

Me: Well, they already knew that, didn’t they?

He: But now it’s personal. It started with the Sessions stuff. Jeff was as loyal as they come. Trump’s crapping on him was like kicking your puppy. And then, you know, him beating up on Mitch for the Obamacare fiasco. And going after Flake and the others.

Me: So they're pissed off?

He: Not just that. I mean, they have thick hides. The personal stuff got them to notice all the other things. The wild stuff, like those threats to North Korea. Tillerson would leave tomorrow if he wasn’t so worried Trump would go nuclear, literally.

Me: You think Trump is really thinking nuclear war?

He: Who knows what’s in his head? But I can tell you this. He’s not listening to anyone. Not a soul. He’s got the nuclear codes and, well, it scares the hell out of me. It’s starting to scare all of them. That’s really why Bob spoke up.

Me: So what could they do? I mean, even if the whole Republican leadership was willing to say publicly he’s unfit to serve, what then?

He: Bingo! The emperor has no clothes. It’s a signal to everyone they can bail. Have to bail to save their skins. I mean, Trump could be the end of the whole goddam Republican party.

Me: If he starts a nuclear war, that could be the end of everything.

He: Yeah, right. So when they start bailing on him, the stage is set.

Me: For what?

He: Impeachment. 25th amendment.

Me: You think Republicans would go that far?

He: Not yet. Here’s the thing. They really want to get this tax bill through. That’s all they have going for them. They don’t want to face voters in ’18 or ’20 without something to show for it. They’re just praying Trump doesn’t do something really, really stupid before the tax bill.

Me: Like a nuclear war?

He: Look, all I can tell you is many of the people I talk with are getting freaked out. It’s not as if there’s any careful strategizing going on. Not like, well, do we balance the tax bill against nuclear war? No, no. They’re worried as hell. They’re also worried about Trump crazies, all the ignoramuses he’s stirred up. I mean, Roy Moore? How many more of them do you need to destroy the party?

Me: So what’s gonna happen?

He: You got me. I’m just glad I’m not there anymore. Trump’s not just a moron. He’s a despicable human being. And he’s getting crazier. Paranoid. Unhinged. Everyone knows it. I mean, we’re in shit up to our eyeballs with this guy.

You are claiming that the reporters from every non Fox news source is writing fictional stories about the President

No...

I am stating a matter of fact Roger.

That many news organization print stories where the story itself "admits" that they cannot verify the claims.
That many times the so called person being written about has came out and stated that what was being written was untrue.

Remember the NYT story that James Comey was going to testify that he never told Trump he was not under investigation... when in fact he testified that he did tell Trump exactly that multiple times.

Remember the stories about how Rosenstein was going to resign over being blamed for Comey being fired, only to have Rosenstein come out and say he stood behind his letter.

How about just last week when Tillerson had to go out and address the rumors that he was going to resign... and claimed that they were absolutely not true.

Now Roger... it's clear that you are of the mindset that all of these stories were probably true, and that all of the people denying them are lying...

but I am just stating that you could probably count on one hand how many of these sorts of stories have been written about other Presidents, where the sources were either flat out wrong (Comey testimony, etc) or publicly reputed (Rosenstein Tillerson, etc)... reporters only reported stories that could be verified by multiple sources, and very seldom did they turn out to be blatantly false.

https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2017/10/11/its-nfl-owners-job-not-the-presidents-to-control-their-employees/

Trump was never going to lose this. In the United States of America, even today, the person standing up for the flag, standing up for the military, standing up for the cops is not going to lose. The left has not taken over the country despite what the media makes it look like every day. Now, one thing I mentioned yesterday because it was near the end of the program, the players are not going to be happy when they get the memo that Goodell sends a memo to the owners and executives and general managers saying, “Let’s get the players. Let’s all stand up.”

That’s gonna make this even worse. And right here, again in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers, Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, defensive lineman, says he thinks there might be an uproar if players are forced to stand for the national anthem. He said, “I don’t think guys are gonna like it. I think it’s gonna be an uproar if that is to happen because you’re basically taking away a constitutional right to freedom of speech. If guys wanna have a, I guess you would call it a peaceful protest, I don’t think it’s right to take that away.”

Now, this illustrates something else. Mr. McCoy has no idea what he’s talking about, but he thinks he does. The First Amendment and the free speech clause are irrelevant to this story. This is a workplace event, and his freedom of speech can be abridged by his employer. Everyone’s is, every day. And the Constitution doesn’t do you any good. But they all think they have a constitutional right to free speech. They don’t own that stage. They don’t own that field.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump predicts "millions and millions of people" will benefit from his action to unwind the health care law.

He's signed an executive order to make lower-premium plans more widely available.

The Dictator Trump lovers like this.

Broader access to so-called association health plans, or AHPs, is an idea that's been promoted by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

"President Trump is doing what I believe is the biggest free-market reform of health care in a generation," Paul said during a signing ceremony in the White House Roosevelt Room. "This reform, if it works and goes as planned, will allow millions of people to get insurance across state lines at an inexpensive price."

State regulators and some insurance companies warn that association plans might cherry-pick the healthiest customers, offering discounted insurance to those who don't use a lot of medical care but driving up costs for others. Administration officials downplayed that concern, noting that association plans must offer coverage to any employee in a participating group.

The president's order also calls for expanding access to short-term insurance policies, which are not subject to some of Obamacare's coverage requirements. And it directs the Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury departments to make it easier for employers to offer tax-free reimbursement to employees to help cover deductibles, copayments and other health care expenses.

All of the changes will be subject to a formal rule-making process, including a public comment period. Administration officials said any new insurance offerings would come in months, not weeks.

Trump said Thursday's order is not a substitute for congressional action and he vowed to continue to press lawmakers to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

"Today is only the beginning," Trump said. "In the coming months we plan to take new measures to provide our people with even more relief and more freedom."

Critics argue the Trump administration has deliberately tried to sabotage the Obamacare exchanges. Trump has repeatedly threatened to withhold cost-sharing subsidies from insurance companies and he's slashed spending on marketing efforts to bring more customers into the exchanges.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. auto parts industry could lose up to 50,000 jobs if the North American Free Trade Agreement is terminated and companies must pay higher tariffs to ship products to Mexico and Canada, according to a new study set for release on Thursday.

U.S., Canadian and Mexican negotiators are meeting in Arlington, Virginia, this week for a fourth round to try to revise the 23-year-old agreement, which allows the tariff-free flow of vehicles and parts across the three borders.

U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized NAFTA for luring U.S. manufacturing jobs to low-wage Mexico and has vowed to quit the pact or revise it to reduce his country's $64 billion trade deficit with its southern neighbor.

Ending NAFTA, however, would result in a full reversion to tariffs under World Trade Organization rules, according to the Boston Consulting Group study sponsored by the Motor Equipment Manufacturers Association. The U.S. auto parts industry employs about 870,000 workers.

Mexico and Canada would fare better because they previously charged higher tariffs than the United States and would revert to those levels. And with no trade incentive to manufacture in the United States other than to avoid the 25 percent truck tariff, more full vehicle production would migrate to low-cost countries such as China, auto experts say.

Job losses could be as much as 24,000 if renegotiations lead to requirements for content from North American and specifically the United States, according to the study.

NAFTA negotiators face tough new U.S. demands to increase regional content for autos to 85 percent from 62.5 percent, with 50 percent from the United States, according to people briefed on the plan.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

WASHINGTON — President Trump will scrap subsidies to health insurance companies that help pay out-of-pocket costs of low-income people, the White House said late Thursday. His plans were disclosed hours after the president ordered potentially sweeping changes in the nation’s insurance system, including sales of cheaper policies with fewer benefits and fewer protections for consumers.

The twin hits to the Affordable Care Act — on successive days — could unravel President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement, sending insurance premiums soaring and insurance companies fleeing from the health law’s online marketplaces. After Republicans failed to repeal the health law in Congress, Mr. Trump appears determined to dismantle it on his own.

Without the subsidies, insurance markets could quickly unravel. Insurers have said they will need much higher premiums and may pull out of the insurance exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act if the subsidies were cut off. Known as cost-sharing reduction payments, or CSRs, the subsidies were expected to total $9 billion in the coming year and nearly $100 billion in the coming decade.

“The government cannot lawfully make the cost-sharing reduction payments,” the White House said in a statement.

President Trump is throwing a bomb into the insurance marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act, choosing to end critical payments to health insurers that help millions of lower-income Americans afford coverage. The decision coincides with an executive order on Thursday to allow alternative health plans that skirt the law’s requirements.

The White House confirmed late Thursday that it would halt federal payments for cost-sharing reductions, although a statement did not specify when. Another statement a short time later by top officials at the Health and Human Services Department said the cutoff would be immediate. The subsidies total about $7 billion this year.

Trump has threatened for months to stop the payments, which go to insurers that are required by the laws to help eligible consumers afford their deductibles and other out-of-pocket expenses. But he held off while other administration officials warned him such a move would cause an implosion of the ACA marketplaces that could be blamed on Republicans, according to two individuals briefed on the decision.

Health insurers and state regulators have been in a state of high anxiety over the prospect of the marketplaces cratering because of such White House action. The fifth year’s open-enrollment season for consumers to buy coverage through ACA exchanges will start in less than three weeks, and insurers have said that stopping the cost-sharing payments would be the single greatest step the Trump administration could take to damage the marketplaces — and the law.

Ending the payments is grounds for any insurer to back out of its federal contract to sell health plans for 2018. Some states’ regulators directed ACA insurers to add a surcharge in case the payments were not made, but insurers elsewhere could be left in a position in which they still must give consumers the discounts but will not be reimbursed.

A spokeswoman for America’s Health Insurance Plans, an industry trade group that has been warning for months of adverse effects if the payments ended, immediately denounced the president’s decision. “Millions of Americans rely on these benefits to afford their coverage and care,” Kristine Grow said.

The Washington Post reports the truth.

This compounds the existing problems with the ACA, and will leave millions without any health care insurance coverage Thousands will die as a moron applies his dementia to the country with his obsession to overturn Obama Care, despite the fact that almost twenty million more Americans have health insurance than before the passage of the Obamacare law. Instead of improving the ACA, it is the first step towards millions of deaths.

I'm old enough to remember when Republicans opposed executive orders in principle as unconstitutional legislating by president.

Unlike Obama's EO, Trump's EO actually complies with the law.

"Based on guidance from the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services has concluded that there is no appropriation for cost-sharing reduction payments to insurance companies under Obamacare," the White House statement said. "In light of this analysis, the government cannot lawfully make the cost-sharing reduction payments."

If you want the federal government to give money to insurance companies, then have Congress appropiate it.

At 8:13 AM [yesterday] above the following stands posted:

________________________

There is only one "Rev. Jim Boswell" listed in the
Normal, Illinois phone book and that Rev. Jim
Boswell is me and so the listing above at 8:13 constitutes a direct act of libel.

I have asked Ch if he was going to let that act of
libel stand and he has indicated that he was and is.

I just want everyone to keep that in mind for now.
