Advisers Fear Trump Is ‘Unstable’ and ‘Unraveling’

Several people close to President Trump have told Gabriel Sherman that the president is “unstable,” “losing a step,” and “unraveling.”

"The conversation among some of the president’s longtime confidantes, along with the character of some of the leaks emerging from the White House has shifted. There’s a new level of concern.”

“In recent days, I spoke with a half dozen prominent Republicans and Trump advisers, and they all describe a White House in crisis as advisers struggle to contain a president who seems to be increasingly unfocused and consumed by dark moods. Trump’s ire is being fueled by his stalled legislative agenda and, to a surprising degree, by his decision last month to back the losing candidate Luther Strange in the Alabama Republican primary.”

Said one person: “Alabama was a huge blow to his psyche. He saw the cult of personality was broken.”

A long history of misunderstanding that passage. In a nutshell, don't seek revenge - but that doesn't mean you necessarily have to just take it either.

Whether it escalates is up to the other guy, but self-defense isn't prohibited either. (Buy a sword, Luke). But anyway, I misspoke as I understand the reasons, I just don't understand the lack of self-respect and of confidence in their own righteousness.

A Clear and Present Danger Covered by the 25th Amendment, even though it will never be used.

“I Hate Everyone in the White House!”: Trump Seethes as Advisers Fear the President Is “Unraveling”

In recent days, I’ve spoken with a half dozen prominent Republicans and Trump advisers, and they all describe a White House in crisis as advisers struggle to contain a president that seems to be increasingly unfocused and consumed by dark moods.

The 25th Amenment Section 4

Section 4.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

The exact definition of "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" is a judgement call, by the Vice President, members of the cabinet and if it's made permanent, the members of the house make that call.

Despite what some say, his behavior over just the last two weeks, has become increasingly troubling. His 5:00 AM tweets, directed at anyone who dares to disagree with him. Or who calls him a "moron". The entire national security team that was in the Pentagon meeting, was appalled, because hs lacked even a basic understanding of the nuclear agreements dating at the end of the cold war. He stated today, that he never said that, but everyone who was there, said he did want to expand our nuclear arsenal to perhaps Cold War status.

And even worse, called correctly, by Senator Corker who said his comments could lead us into World War III. That would be, beyond a doubt, the end of our civilized planet as we know it. His behavior, beyond a reasonable doubt, that his is " is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, The coldheartedtruth is, they will not use the 25th Amendment, but it's there and was designed for this specific situation.

‘He threw a fit’: Trump’s anger over Iran deal forced aides to scramble for a compromise
The Washington Post -- Anne Gearan --10 hrs ago

President Trump was livid. Why, he asked his advisers in mid-July, should he go along with what he considered the failed Obama-era policy toward Iran and prop up an international nuclear deal he saw as disastrous?

He was incensed by the arguments of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and others that the landmark 2015 deal, while flawed, offered stability and other benefits. He did not want to certify to Congress that the agreement remained in the vital U.S. national security interest and that Iran was meeting its obligations. He did not think either was true.
“He threw a fit,” said one person familiar with the meeting. “. . .He was furious. Really furious. It’s clear he felt jammed.”

So White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster and other senior advisers came up with a plan — one aimed at accommodating Trump’s loathing of the Iran deal as “an embarrassment” without killing it outright.

To get Trump, in other words, to compromise.
“McMaster realized we just cannot come back here next time with a binary option — certify or decertify,” an exercise Congress requires every 90 days, said a person familiar with the July discussion. “He put his team to work on a range of other options, including a decertification option that would involve Congress” and would not immediately break the deal.

That effort — described by seven people familiar with the debate, most of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the confidential discussions — led to a revamping of the U.S. approach to Iran and the nuclear pact that Trump is set to announce this week and which congressional leaders were briefed about on Wednesday. Under the expected announcement, Trump will declare that the deal is not in the U.S. national interest while stopping short of recommending renewed nuclear sanctions.

The deliberations show the extent to which Trump’s national security team in recent months has been occupied with navigating the future of the Iran nuclear deal, which Trump repeatedly vowed to throw out as a “disaster” during the campaign. The sometimes angry internal debate also provides another illustration of the way in which Trump’s gut impulses and desire for dramatic action have often collided with the subtlety of international diplomacy.

The Iran agreement, brokered by former president Barack Obama, was never designed to do many of the things Trump criticizes it for lacking. Many of his own advisers — and many Republican leaders and key U.S. allies — see it as a valuable tool in stopping an Iranian nuclear bomb.

The solution is a compromise that retains the agreement but also puts Iran and U.S. allies on notice that Trump is willing to walk away. Meanwhile, Trump is likely to make the case that as the Islamic State terrorist group is weakened, Iran is reasserting itself as the most destructive influence in the Middle East and using the nuclear deal as cover to do so.

“He doesn’t want to certify the Iran deal for more domestic reasons than international ones,” said Vali Nasr, dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. “He doesn’t want to certify that any piece of the Obama strategy is working.”

Trump is expected to announce new conditions for U.S. participation in the agreement among the U.S., Iran, Britain France, Germany, Russia and China and punt the issue to Congress. He may also announce new sanctions or penalties on Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Trump said Wednesday that a decision is coming “very soon,” and others familiar with White House planning said they expect a speech Thursday in which Trump explains the new U.S. position.
“We are on a tightrope. We don’t know what will happen,” said one Western diplomat worried that Trump’s action will undermine the international agreement.

Unknown said...

Read all of that article. Another example of how the childish, spoiled, self-centered, ignorant, bombastic, "I-hate-and-am-jealous-of-eavery-good-thing-Obama-ever-did" excuse we have for a president is seriously in need of adult supervision.

Unknown said...

And on top of everything else, he puts what he thinks are his own best political interests far, far ahead of the best interests of our nation.

Historians will have a rich time dismantling this idiocy of a presidency. His own adivsers will be one of their best sources.

Trump has 30% chance of completing full term -- CNN By Sophie Tatum 5 hrs ago

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has privately confided that he believes President Donald Trump only has a 30% chance of completing his full term, a source told Vanity Fair.

According to two of Vanity Fair's sources with knowledge of the conversation, Bannon warned Trump several months ago that the biggest threat to his presidency is not impeachment by Congress, but the 25th Amendment -- which could allow his Cabinet to vote to remove him.

CNN has been unable to independently confirm these reported conversations. Bannon could not be reached for comment.

The 25th Amendment to the Constitution is a measure that establishes a system for replacing the president or vice president in case there is a death, removal, resignation or incapacitation.
Also, if the vice president "and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide" make a "written declaration that the president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the vice president shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as acting president."

The 25th Amendment was adopted following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

According to the two sources who spoke to Vanity Fair, when Bannon raised the 25th Amendment as a concern, Trump responded by asking, "What's that?"

Bannon was fired from the White House in August.

The report comes amid a public feud between Trump and Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tennessee, who is retiring from Congress after 2018. The two have gone back and forth via Twitter, and Corker told The New York Times that he thinks Trump could take the US "on the path to World War III."

Pro sports teams were once reliable patrons of Trump’s hotels. Not anymore.
Even before President Trump turned professional athletes into his political targets in recent weeks, he had been privately losing their teams’ business.

Coldheartedtruth Teller said...

Trump's childish combativeness hasn't changed since he's been president and led to his greatest self-inflicted wound, the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the naming of special counsel Robert Mueller to oversee the Russia investigation.

There is also a growing acknowledgement that Trump doesn't understand the job and isn't able to learn it. This too was obvious before the election. He was upfront about how he does business, admitting that he never bothered with market research or consultants of any kind. According to the Washington Post, back in July of 2016 Trump said he reaches the right decisions “with very little knowledge other than the knowledge I [already] had, plus the words ‘common sense,’ because I have a lot of common sense and I have a lot of business ability.” He told them that he didn't trust experts because “they can’t see the forest for the trees” and "when he makes decisions, people see that he instinctively knows the right thing to do."
No one should have expected that he would be willing or able to learn anything new as president, and he isn't. He believes he is omniscient.

Indeed, we've seen a lot of reports that the president's behavior is getting worse. Gabriel Sherman of Vanity Fair published an article on Wednesday in which numerous sources told him that the White House is in crisis and that Sen. Bob Corker's comments have "brought into the open what several people close to the president" have told Sherman in private: "that Trump is 'unstable,' 'losing a step,' and 'unraveling.'" He is described as "increasingly unfocused and consumed by dark moods," particularly since his chosen candidate in the Alabama Senate race, Luther Strange, lost the primary runoff and he began to suspect that "his cult of personality was broken."

https://www.salon.com/2017/10/12/trump-is-falling-apart-and-nobody-knows-what-to-do-about-it/

The source is irrelevant, because it is Coldheartedtruth. I spoke out about this months ago and as usual, alky spam etc. But it's not. This is a very dangerous situation. This man has the nuclear "football", how ironic is that, and he's not sane. This is beginning to look like the mental status of Richard Nixon. He's deeply frustrated, by the fact that he's not going to accomplish anything that he promised.

He doesn't or cannot understand that he has to go beyond his base to get anything done.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that he's not capable of performing the duties of the office of the President. This Republican party will not act to remove him from the office, but they sure are hell should.

C.H. Truth said...

That's a funny statement coming from a guy who continues to cry about being called "alky" or having his posts bumped from the top of the blog... and defends the guy who claims to be suing someone for libel because they criticize his so called "clergy" status.

A guy who supported repeated attempts to "net neutrality" that is/was specifically designed to silence voices like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, or defended the former President's decision to criticize and refuse to be interviewed by FOX News.

So, perhaps you should remember what Democratic politicians have done and said over the years about FOX, Limbaugh, Hannity, and remember that they have penned actual legislation that would have worked to drown out conservative voices on radio and other mediums.

But all fine, when the bad guys are O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, and Beck. But it's a bane on the first amendment when someone criticized Washington Post or CNN.... who write stories that (1) cannot be confirmed and (2) are continuously denied by the actual people who they have been claiming are the sources.

Finally, it’s 1989 in Aspen. A young woman comes up to Ivana and says: “I’m Marla and I love your husband. Do you?”

What followed was perhaps the biggest sex scandal in American history. O.K., I’m totally exaggerating. (Remember that whopper in the 19th century with Grover Cleveland’s illegitimate child?) But the Donald-Marla-Ivana story was unusual in that at the time, nobody involved in it was all that important. Trump was a celebrity real estate developer, but there were plenty of equally rich and glamorous figures in New York, many of them having adultery issues of their own.

The difference was that Trump pushed the story, calling his allies in the media with new tidbits or lines of defense. It was as if Grover Cleveland had press agents trying to make sure his side of the love-child scandal was in a headline every day.

You will not hear anything about that angle in Ivana’s book. In fact, once the affair comes center stage, you hardly hear anything about Donald at all. He seems to be a sort of passive bystander. (“After the showgirl got pregnant and had a daughter, Donald married her.”)

Companies search through social media for information on potential employees. People report on what a killer might have said on Facebook or Twitter before he killed someone.

Nobody but James is responsible for James...

But it's very liberal of you to believe that the ACLU (or someone else) will protect you... because lord knows personal responsibility is not your thing.

You're ignoring what he is doing and saying. And like rrb are attacking me, not responding to the dann TRUTH about the President. Grow a pair. And admit that I am correct.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump predicts "millions and millions of people" will benefit from his action to unwind the health care law.

He's signed an executive order to make lower-premium plans more widely available.

But the changes Trump hopes to bring about could take months or even longer. That's according to administration officials who outlined the order for reporters Thursday morning. THE PROPOSAL MAY NOT BE be finalized in time to affect COVERAGE FOR 2019, let alone next year.

Finally someone has the courage to throw Evangelical trash out of a business establishment.

You know, the same way the Evangelical trash always try to throw people out of their own businesses.

Hypocrisy is the only thing Evangelical trash are capable of. Scratch one of those snake-handling Evangelical whackjobs, and you'll find a closeted homo, a pedophile, or someone who has had or paid for at least a half dozen secret abortions.
