Trump has better Rasmussen Approval Rating than Obama had at the same time in his Presidency

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 34% who Strongly Approve of the way the president is performing and 42% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8.
President Trump has a stronger approval rating today than media darling Barack Obama did back in 2010 on this same day. Back on February 7, 2010 Barack Obama had an approval rating of 44% while 56% of likely voters disapproved of the far left president.
If congress can pass a two year budget this, and actually agree to some sort of immigration compromise over the next few months, then you could see the American public starting to actually "normalize" Donald Trump as President. People might actually (gasp) see him as being productive and even successful. He will likely never carry historically high approvals, but he could eventually crawl into mediocre or even good ones.

In the past eight weeks, the RCP polling average for Donald Trump has increased from 37% to over 42%. Again, 42% is not a great bottom line, but a five point bump is a five point bump

None of this will stop the media (and other Trump bashers) from their non-stop temper tantrum. But more and more people are seeing the temper tantrum for what it is. Eventually the subject will start to change to things people care about, rather than things that the media cares about.

Rasmussen is bunk, but this is not bunk:

Republicans Completely Reverse Themselves on Deficit

Washington Post: “Republican lawmakers in 2011 brought the U.S. government to the brink of default, refused to raise the debt ceiling, demanded huge spending cuts, and insisted on a constitutional amendment to balance the budget.

“On Wednesday, they formally broke free from those fiscal principles and announced a plan that would add $500 billion in new spending over two years and suspend the debt ceiling until 2019. This came several months after Republicans passed a tax law that would add more than $1 trillion to the debt over a decade.

“With all these changes, the annual gap between spending and revenue in 2019 is projected to eclipse $1.1 trillion, up from $439 billion in 2015. And they are expanding the deficit at an unusual time, when the economy is growing and unemployment is low, a dynamic that often leads to shrinking budget gaps.”

Column: I detest Trump, but a ‘redneck’ fixed my Prius with zip ties

After the march, Katherine and I hit the road in the late afternoon, feeling good; we had done our part to express our outrage. We were about 90 minutes south of D.C. when I heard a terrible popping sound. I assumed I had blown a tire and headed toward the nearest exit. The popping was followed by screeching — were we now driving on metal? Luckily, there was a gas station right off the exit.

Before I could do anything but park my gray Prius, a man rushed over. "I heard you coming down that road," he said. Before I could say much he started surveying the situation. He didn’t so much offer to help us as get right to work.

It turned out that I hadn’t blown a tire; a huge piece of plastic under the front bumper had come loose, causing the screeching as it scraped along the road. After determining that he couldn’t cut the plastic off, he ran over to his car to grab some zip ties so that he could secure the piece back in place.

He did all of this so quickly that I didn’t have time to grab the prominent RESIST sticker on the side of my car, which suddenly felt needlessly alienating. As this man lay on the ground under my car with his miracle zip ties, I asked if he thought they would hold for four more hours of driving.

"Just ask any redneck like me what you can do with zip ties — well, zip ties and duct tape. You can solve almost any car problem. You’ll get home safe," he said, turning to his teenage son standing nearby. "You can say that again," his son agreed.

The whole interaction lasted 10 minutes, tops. Katherine and I made it home safely.

Our encounter changed the day for me. While I tried to dive back into my liberal podcast, my mind kept being pulled back to the gas station. I couldn’t stop thinking about the man who called himself a "redneck" who came to our rescue. I sized him up as a Trump voter, just as he likely drew inferences from my Prius and RESIST sticker. But for a moment, we were just two people and the exchange was kindness (his) and gratitude (mine).

As I drove home, I felt the full extent to which Trump has actually diminished my own desire to be kind. He is keeping me so outraged that I hold ill will toward others on a daily basis. Trump is not just ruining our nation, he is ruining me. By the end of the drive, I felt heartbroken.

winning BIGLY:

In 2013, the US shipped just over 100,000 barrels a day.

This past November, American firms exported 1.53 million barrels a day.

The US now exports up to 1.7 million barrels per day of crude, and this year will have the capacity to export 3.8 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Terminals conceived for importing liquefied natural gas have now been overhauled to allow exports.

Surging shale production is poised to push US oil output to more than 10 million barrels per day - toppling a record set in 1970 and crossing a threshold few could have imagined even a decade ago.

And this new record, expected within days, likely won't last long.

The US government forecasts that the nation's production will climb to 11 million barrels a day by late 2019, a level that would rival Russia, the world's top producer.

The economic and political impacts of soaring US output are breathtaking, cutting the nation's oil imports by a fifth over a decade, providing high-paying jobs in rural communities and lowering consumer prices for domestic gasoline by 37 percent from a 2008 peak.

I am curious, Opie... and I not trying to be a dick. Just trying to find some clarification.

This Porter guy apparently was accused of domestic violence by two women. Porter denies both allegations. One of the incidents does not appear to be reported, while the other was. There were no criminal charges, but a restraining order was placed against him (but not renewed).

All of these allegations happened what would be well past the statute of limitations in Utah (where he apparently worked for Orrin Hatch).

He was never given security access by the FBI (due to the restraining order and allegations).

Once the President learned of the allegations (which apparently was last week) Porter resigns (apparently under pressure from the President and Ivanka).

Now, the Democratic Party is one that believes that even convicted felons deserve a second chance at life. They should be allowed to come back into society, they should be allowed to garner their right to vote back, etc... this opinion holds true for pretty much all ex-felons, whether they murdered, raped, or assaulted people.

Why is it so important that this particular person "not" be allowed to be part of normal society again? He wasn't even charged, much less convicted of any criminal behavior?

It seems... well, a little bit hypocritical?

Uranium One informant says Moscow paid millions in bid to influence Clinton

An FBI informant involved in the controversial Uranium One deal has told congressional committees that Moscow paid millions to a U.S. lobbying firm in a bid to influence then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by helping former President Bill Clinton’s charities during the Obama administration.

The Hill first reported late Wednesday that informant Douglas Campbell gave a 10-page statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee, House Intelligence Committee and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and was interviewed for several hours behind closed doors by committee staff.

In the statement, obtained by Fox News, Campbell said Russian executives told him that Moscow was hiring APCO Worldwide in an effort to influence the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton.

Campbell said Russian nuclear officials “told me at various times that they expected APCO to apply a portion of the $3 million annual lobbying fee it was receiving from the Russians to provide in-kind support for the Clinton’s Global Initiative.”

“The contract called for four payments of $750,000 over twelve months,” Campbell said in the statement. “APCO was expected to give assistance free of charge to the Clinton Global Initiative as part of their effort to create a favorable environment to ensure the Obama administration made affirmative decisions on everything from Uranium One to the US-Russia Civilian Nuclear Cooperation agreement.”

WP, don't you think selling out the domestic uranium supply is a little more important that a garden variety domestic dispute?

Russia meddled in US election, George W. Bush says

Former U.S. president George W. Bush accused Russia on Thursday of meddling in the U.S. 2016 presidential election, calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a "brilliant tactician."*

Bush, interviewed on stage at a business conference in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, said there was CLEAR EVIDENCE that the Russians had meddled but whether that affected the outcome of the election was another question.

"But they meddled and that is dangerous for democracy," he said, adding that Russia had done the same thing during the Cold War and was adept at trying to manipulate opinion in the United States and Europe.

"Putin is a brilliant tactician who has the capacity to detect weakness and exploit it," Bush said.**

The Kremlin has repeatedly denied accusations by U.S. intelligence officials and others of interfering in foreign elections, including the 2016 U.S. vote.

In an apparent criticism of the immigration policies U.S. President Donald Trump, Bush called for changes in U.S. immigration rules, saying it was important to recognize that the United States had a history of welcoming people regardless of their religion or where they were born.

"Our system is broken but we've got to fix it. I had tried, but unsuccessfully," he said.
______________

*Implying that The Donald is a wretched tactician.
**Implying that Trump is not capable of detecting much of anything.

I will just point out that while the mainline news media is hyperventilating about Porter there's a virtual conspiracy of silence about the uranium one deal.

Say what you want about Fox News (yes, Fox and Friends does a little too much cheerleading for my taste. However, Morning Joe is too obsessive in it's Trump-hate to be even watchable.)

We would have never know about the Uranium One deal.

Never have gotten the details of the Clinton email server scandal.

Would never have found out the FBI virtual lied to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on a private citizen.

Would have never know how deeply and cynically Obama lied about Benghazi.

Would have never know Obama stop an FBI operation to stop Iranian sponsor drug trafficking to facilitate their nuclear deal.

Would never know Eric Holder's DOJ sold guns to Mexican drug cartels.

I could go on and on. It really is amazing how much the new media is incurious about the abuse of power in the Obama administration.

And how the Clinton's use the state department as their personal piggy bank.

Actually, WP... you must concede that there are two possibilities.

- One was that he was guilty.

Without any sort of a criminal trial that would allow a prosecution and defense, all we have is two conflicting accounts of what happened.

Former president George W. Bush appeared to take aim at President Trump on Thursday when he said at an economic summit that there was "pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled" in the 2016 U.S. election.

Bush did not directly name Trump during his talk in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. He appeared there as part of a conference by the Milken Institute, a think tank based in Santa Monica, Calif.

In this Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, file photo, former U.S. President George W. Bush speaks at a forum sponsored by the George W. Bush Institute in New York.
AP
"Whether (Russia) affected the outcome is another question," Bush said. "It’s problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system. Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results."

Intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia meddled in the presidential election, and numerous investigations are underway to determine whether Trump’s campaign aided the Kremlin. Trump has consistently disputed allegations of Russian interference in the race or that members of his campaign team in any way "colluded" with Moscow.

Commonsense said...

The Russians certainly tried to influence the election. However I don't think they much succeeded because their manchurian candidate lost.

There's far more evidence the Clintons colluded with Russia than there ever was for Trump.

There's also evidence the Clintons betrayed the Russians after they got their money.

Bottom line, the Russian collusion investigations is taking a whole new direction that the Democrats don't want it to go.

The question is, will Mueller be faithful to his charge and start investigating the Clinton campaign or will he try to protect them like Comey did.

Last time I checked, people are not guilty until proven innocent?

Legally speaking, but in the physical world a person is not innocent, and then becomes guilty the moment he's convicted. He was either always guilty of the crime, or always innocent of it.

In politics, and in holding our leaders to standards, we have to evaluate them based on what we know. It is not only "OK" to do it, in a sense it is our obligation. The courts decide what the legal consequences are, the legal punishment if any, and I'll be right there with you if anyone tries to convict someone without proof and due process. But politics is not a courtroom, and as imperfect as our judgments must be we must still make them. Innocent until proven is not always adequate for national security, or for the individuals we trust with power. THEY need to prove themselves to US, and if they fail then that's the nature of the job.

Or does that change because you believe that the President requires video to understand something (TDS)?

It doesn't matter who. I'd rather not have a President who learns from cartoons, but you have every right to support this one regardless of how his reluctance to read the information provided to him may curtail his knowledge.
