Mandatory union fees unconstitutional

Supreme Court deals sharp defeat to public employee unions, banning mandatory fees
The Supreme Court dealt labor unions a sharp defeat Wednesday, ruling that teachers, police officers and other public employees cannot be forced to pay dues or fees to support their unions. By a 5 to 4 vote, the justices overturned a 41-year-old precedent and ruled that the 1st Amendment protects these employees from being required to support a private group whose views may differ from theirs.
Expected, but still another blow to liberals and forced liberalism in general.

So can public employees recapture dues they were forced to make in the past?

A big blow to unions. They will have to adapt or die. Chief among the adaptions is to actually serve their membership so it is advantageous to join a union.

They did it to themselves.

Thank God for McConnell and Gorsuch

Yes they did. They forgot to work for all members.

This kills the "Right to Work" issue.

Oh look another of my Bumblecare predictions is true

Following enrollment, we observe dramatic spikes in individuals' health care consumption,” states the report, “Take-Up, Drop-Out, and Spending in ACA Marketplaces.” Experts at Stanford University and NYU Stern conducted the study and wrote the paper.

So-called discretionary medical attention can be timed to coincide with insurance coverage, whereas urgent trauma treatment cannot.

“We also document widespread attrition, with more than half of all new enrollees dropping coverage before the end of the plan year,” the report continues.

In other words, many people in the pool of those studied took the insurance coverage and then went on a mad spree seeking medical treatment. Once the medical matters got dealt with, then they dropped their insurance plans.

So now we have it. The dem party is becoming the socialist party. The country doesn't want that.

HUFFPOST lead story

Mitch McConnell Just Weakened Unions — And The Democratic Party

The watershed Supreme Court decision known as Janus would not have happened without the stonewalling of Merrick Garland.

It really is important to Democrat Socialism funding. This is closing the cash tap.

Any doubt that these shithole dwellers are all in the same bed.
"The SCOTUS decision in #Janus v AFSCME is terrible for public sector labor unions. The majority of Sierra Club employees are union members, & we will keep fighting to strengthen the labor movement & protections for all workers."

Paul the ruling says that unions will not be allowed to collect dues for even wages and benefits only. This may end up getting worse by the Republican Congress may pass a "right to work for less law

I hope that the Democrats don't block this until after the November elections. Kennedy was for example gay marriage. Trump is a wild card.

The working class wants a paycheck without having s piece of it extorted by a union they don't even belong to.

WTF???

The employer (the state of Fed government) is paying the wages and benefits

Rog, "The middle class was dealt another blow. It will shrink even further downward as percentage of the GDP."

Can you provide a link. I want to read more about this, I have never ever seen that conflating.
That way we can track it to see if your right.
Thank you.

I'm looking at this from the point of view from a guy who worked as a Union carpenter since 1974. Construction is skilled labor. Collective bargaining rights are under attack by the Republicans for years. They say that it's not allowed to collect dues for even just wages and benefits.

caliphate4vr said...

I have always stated i don't care if the private sector has unions but not the public sector, it's extortion

So you are telling me the carpenter's employer pays the union? then the union pays the carpenter?

WTF is dues for negotiation only not for political purposes. Right to work laws don't allow the unions to get dues even for negotiation only.

absolutely correct cali. here in NY it's the democrat leaders and the unions on one side of the table, and the taxpayer on the other. and guess who gets fucked every single fucking time. NY is last in virtually every category worth measuring and we're losing population largely because of the public sector unions getting fat at the taxpayer trough.

NY democrats saw this coming so they slipped a work-around into the latest budget :

From Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, Inc:

“Today’s decision by the U.S Supreme Court in Janus v. AFSCME is a welcome victory for employee choice and freedom of speech.”

Unfortunately for many New Yorkers directly affected by this issue, the impact of the decision will be limited due to a last-minute provision tucked into the recently adopted state budget. The provision significantly limits an employee’s timeframe and ability to opt-out of dues deductions, all but eliminating the freedom given to employees in other states thanks to the Janus decision. It will be interesting to see if New York’s attempt to circumvent employee choice will be challenged in court. In the meantime, it is unfortunate that New York lawmakers decided to put politics over their constituents’ ability to freely express themselves.”

The unions act as group negotiators. Unions are collaborative organizations of skilled workers.

public sector unions are parasites. fucking scum. the lowest of the low. NYS employees can barely dress themselves and wipe their own asses each day. even Fascist Delano Roosevelt opposed public sector unions. now that's saying something when a grifter like him would see public sector unions as over the top.

private sector unions otoh can do what they please. i'd be extremely reluctant and overly cautious to hire them, but at least i'm free to make that decision. with the public sector it's just one great big fat money laundering scheme.

difficult to determine? it's as plain as fucking day.

here in NY my governor is a democrat, my assembly is democrat and my senate is repub by a razor thin margin. both unions - CSEA & PEF - send 99.9998% of their political donations to the democrats. it's essentially a massive money laundering scheme. my tax $$$ goes to pay salaries, the unions deduct dues from the employees and cycle that $$$ right back to the fucking democrats. it's a racket as corrupt as the fucking sopranos with the thin veil of legitimacy provided by state government.

this ruling is long overdue and hopefully it's just the first step in completely destroying public sector unions.

The Teachers Unions are upset.
But why, their job is to educate the Nation's Youth in a fair and Balanced way.

"The head of the largest teachers union, National Education Association President Lily Eskelsen Garcia, calls the court decision "a slap in the face" but says unions remain "the best vehicle on the path to the middle class."

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten called it "a dark day in U.S. jurisprudence" and warned: "Don't count us out."

For some Democrats, there is a clear logic to trying to elevate politicians who belong to underrepresented groups, given the threat many feel from the behavior and policies of President Trump, who regularly magnifies racial division and has been caught on tape boasting about the sexual assault of women.

“It’s not accidental that Donald Trump followed the first black president riding a wave of resentment,” said Steve Phillips, founder of Democracy in Color, a group that promotes youth and minority political activism. “And it’s not accidental that the people who are fighting back are the people who are being attacked.”
