A vote for medicare for all is a vote for immortality?

Under Medicare for all, less people will die!
Right now, the percentage of those who die is "roughly" 100%
So, we’re paying for this system. We — Americans have the sticker shock of healthcare as it is, and what we’re also not talking about is, why aren’t we incorporating the cost of all the funeral expenses of those who died because they can’t afford access to healthcare? That is part of the cost of our system.
So if there are less funerals from less people dying, then logically, I guess some people would actually... um... never die? Otherwise, how can you otherwise avoid the funeral? Imagine. It took us a socialist from N.Y. to finally make the ultimate promise.

If you vote for me, you could live forever!

Medicare would have more generous coverage. 28 million uninsureds would get health care insurance coverage.
22 million people who buy their own insurance would have new taxes, but less out-of-pocket spending. The 28 million Americans who currently pay for their own insurance will instead pay higher taxes. The net effect is the cost of medical expenses will decrease.

9 million veterans would keep their existing health care system. We are already paying taxes for the coverage for our veterans.

2 million Native Americans could also keep their current source of care. We are already paying taxes for the coverage. They could be excluded from the tax increases and remain at the current level.

Drug company profits would likely fall as the government would have more bargaining power to negotiate lower prices. This certainly will cause political resistance from drug companies but may be popular among voters. In early July Pfizer raised the cost of Viagra, a nervy move attributed to the lack of political risk from Trump and the Administration to curb drug costs. Humor says that the reduction of the cost of Viagra will drop, making millions of men happier.

Health insurance companies would mostly be eliminated, and executives – among the highest paid in the nation – would lose their jobs. I wouldn't shed a tear for these parasites.

Doctors and hospitals would likely face pay cuts, but would no longer face unpaid bills so they may be winners. The number of uninsured people who need emergency medical care will go away because everyone has coverage.

Part of this is provided by Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/teresaghilarducci/2018/07/16/what-is-medicare-for-all/

My own opinions are obvious. The overall cost to the individuals will decrease.

The Republican standard attack is oh my goodness your taxes will go up! But what they won't tell you that the overall cost of medical care will decrease. And that pre existing conditions will be completely covered, instead of Trumpcare that excludes them.

Start with this:

Most Health Insurance Companies are Non-profits. Many are specifically tied to medical facilities, or religious organizations. Over 90% of Americans who have private health insurance are happy with it. There is (or at least was when I was involved) a strong partnership between the medical and insurance community.

Calling them "parasites" is entirely based on bigotry stemming from a lack of basic factual understanding of the situation.

Second:

Doctors and Hospitals will lose money under a Medicare for all plan. As someone who worked at a Hospital billing department (specifically collections) through college, I can tell you that a certain percentage of unpaid bills are written off as a matter of expectation (in other words it's budgeted for). It's not even in the same area code of 40% of your AR. Other unpaid bills are sold to other collection companies at 15-20 percent of the outstanding bill.

What an insurance plan will pay (after deductibles, and co-pays, and whatever else isn't covered) is "still" more than the 60% that Medicare for all would pay. However, probably 90% of those who have insurance with deductibles and co-pays, pay those uncovered expense bills.

Moreover

Most every one of those advocates are creating estimates that assumes that nobody will ever do anything "outside" of medicare for all, which is not the reality in other countries that have single payer of some sort. Most of these countries do not cover elective procedures, and people in places like Germany and Canada purchase supplemental insurance to cover things that their "single payer" does not.

So you can pretend that expenses will go down because Medicare for all will refuse to pay going rates, and because Medicare for all will not cover many elective procedures... but the "cost" of performing these procedures (at the health care level) will not go down, just because the "payment" being made for them is.

_____

We pay more for our medical attention, because our medical attention is more advanced, and people simply have more procedures than other countries do. This is just one of those arguments that littered with fantastic assumptions, bigotry, and paranoia.

The liver is simply parroting Bernie

Sen. Bernie Sanders is skimming over the facts in claiming that his “Medicare for all” plan will lead to big reductions in what Americans spend for health care.

In a recent tweet, the Vermont independent insists the plan will cut $2 trillion from the nation’s health care bill.

But that’s based on a scenario in which hospitals and doctors accept significantly lower payments for many patients. It’s a big asterisk, and one that Sanders fails to disclose.

A look at the claim:

SANDERS: “Medicare for All will lead to a $2 TRILLION REDUCTION in national health expenditures over 10 years.” — July 30 tweet.

THE FACTS: Sanders’ vision of El Dorado in his tweet and a YouTube video is being widely echoed by supporters of a government-run national health system. But Sanders mischaracterizes a study from a libertarian policy institute that found his legislation would actually lead to a massive boost in federal spending and taxation.

The study from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University in Virginia also concluded that “Medicare for all” is unlikely to produce a dividend for U.S. society in the form of lower total health care spending. To get that result would require paying hospitals and doctors much less than they get now and risk putting some out of business.

The study found that if hospitals and doctors were willing to accept Medicare-based payments of 40 percent less for patients who currently have private insurance, then projected U.S. health care spending would decline by about 3 percent from 2022 to 2031, or $2.05 trillion.

That’s the number Sanders is celebrating.

But the study also said if medical providers continue to be paid about the same as now, U.S. health care spending would increase by $3.25 trillion over 10 years under “Medicare for all.” It works out to about 5 percent more.

That’s far different from Sanders’ assurance that his plan “will lead” to huge spending reductions.

The study concludes it’s unlikely.

“More generous health care insurance would be provided to everyone at the expense of health care providers,” it said. “Whether providers could sustain such losses and remain in operation, and how those who continue operations would adapt to such dramatic payment reductions, are critically important questions.”

Scott. Nobody knew how complicated it is!

We are the most innovative country. If both sides would agree on one thing. Every single American citizen should have health insurance.

The Medicare for everyone is one of the best options. It can be done. Government is the most efficient system if it is properly designed.

The for profit medical facilities will have to be involved in the process of providing medical insurance for everyone. Neither one of us knows how to make the "complicated" process work. But we sure have people who have the ability.

"Since the people they generally work for do "not" make profits, the worker is who is going to bear the brunt of 40% less payments coming in."

One way to cover the difference will be reduced costs for medications if the "for" profit companies will no longer paying multi million dollar wages to the executives.

There is absolutely zero way to continue to run a hospital or clinic with 30-40% less revenue coming in, unless you also cut 30-40% of your expenses. You do understand remedial math, do you not?

And no, executive salaries don't make up 4% of the expenses, much less 40%.

Secondly, you continue to "ignore" the fact that most "still" Americans have insurance that they actually want to keep. Most Americans do not want to give up their private (employee based) insurance for "medicare for all". I certainly know that I don't. Yeah, that number isn't as high as it was "before" the debacle that is Obamacare, but you are still advocating throwing the baby out with the bath water on this whole deal.

Why do you believe "you" know what's best for me, Roger?

The reality is that there is a much easier way to resolve the problem with a few million people who are uninsured, that doesn't involve everyone else.

Just because you needed a liver transplant, doesn't mean the rest of the country has to go through the process? Likewise, just because some people lack insurance and you want to provide them with a government option, doesn't mean you take everyone's insurance away and make them do the same.

Lastly, we replaced decades of actuaries and insurance experience (teams of people dedicated to proving the best insurance options at the best prices) and allowed government bureaucrats to decide how to run insurance. Look what happened. Cost went up while the coverage went down. That is your government efficiency?

Again, why do you want me to pay more and get less, Roger? Why is it up to you to tell me I must accept inferior coverage, because "you" like the idea?

Nobody is saying not to insure the people who are uninsured. There are more options than putting "everyone" on a bad plan.

President Trump has repeatedly and vehemently denounced what he calls “chain migration,” in which adult American citizens can obtain residency for their relatives.

On Thursday, his Slovenian in-laws, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, became United States citizens in a private ceremony in Manhattan by taking advantage of that same family-based immigration program.

Asked if the Knavses had obtained citizenship through “chain migration,” their lawyer, Michael Wildes, said, “I suppose.”

He said chain migration is a “dirtier” way of characterizing what he called “a bedrock of our immigration process when it comes

Melania Trump had sponsored her parents for their green cards, Mr. Wildes said in describing the process by which the Knavses had become United States citizens. “Once they had the green card, they then applied for citizenship when they were eligible,” he said.

Even as his in-laws were going through the process, Mr. Trump was denouncing it. In November, he tweeted, “CHAIN MIGRATION must end now! Some people come in, and they bring their whole family with them, who can be truly evil. NOT ACCEPTABLE!”

A year ago, it seemed unfathomable: an American president defiantly defending “very fine people on both sides” of neo-Nazism; an American president suggesting moral equivalency between fighting for racial equality and championing white supremacy.

To be fair, President Donald Trump was making a somewhat subtler point. In his colloquy with the press, he was not calling neo-Nazis great folks but arguing that many of the Confederate-statue-loving protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, were not neo-Nazis at all. Somehow, these “fine people” got mixed in with white supremacists shouting, “Jews will not replace us,” and never noticed their compatriots were not fine people, too.

Trump inflames racial tensions
His recent assault on LeBron James as stupid and CNN host Don Lemon as stupider (“low IQ” is his go-to insult for blacks) is par for the course. It’s impossible, at this point, to be surprised by boorish behavior in someone who consistently acts like a boob. The trap — and one that Trump could easily lead us into — is to start thinking such behavior is not just normal for Trump but normal.

In his press availability addressing Charlottesville last year, Trump was asked whether race relations had gotten worse. He replied that they were “better or the same,” but added, “They have been frayed for a long time.” In other words, although he predicted race relations would improve, he emphasized how fraught and “frayed” they were. Who could blame him if they stayed that way — or got worse? Despite promising racial harmony through job creation, he was betting the opposite.

Indeed, his political career was built on betting the opposite. It effectively began with birtherism, blossomed with talk of Mexican rapists and Muslim terrorists, and flourished with allusions to gang-bangers spilling over the border.

At a recent rally in Tampa, Florida, he fired up the crowd by ridiculing Democrats’ desire for “open borders, which equals massive crime.” They “want to let MS-13 rule our country,” he declared, adding, “Every day the brave men and women of ICE are liberating communities and towns from savage gangs like MS-13 that are occupying our country like another nation would.”

Perhaps worst of all, a victorious Trump will complete his takeover of the Republican Party (which is already far along). Even murmured dissent will be silenced. The GOP will be fully committed to a 2020 presidential campaign conducted in the spirit of George C. Wallace — a campaign of racial division, of rural/urban division, of religious division, of party division that metastasizes into mutual contempt.

This would leave many Americans entirely abandoned in U.S. politics: Catholics who are both pro-life and pro-immigrant. Evangelicals who are conservative but think that character matters, that compassion counts, that racial healing is a Christian calling. Traditional Republicans who miss a time — not so long ago — when leaders such as Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush modeled grace and led the West in defending freedom.

In a democracy, a vote is usually not a matter of good and evil. It is a matter of weighing competing goods and choosing lesser evils. The possible outcomes this November come down to this: Trump contained, or Trump triumphant.

Democrats, I suspect, will make a victory harder than it should be. A significant number seem to view Trump’s vulnerability as an opportunity to ideologically purify their party. They are actively undermining the job of containing the president by alienating centrist voters they need to turn the House.

But this does not change the political and ethical reality. The only way to save the GOP is to defeat it in the House. In this case, a Republican vote for a Democratic representative will be an act of conscience.

My ancestor came to the British colony in 1759.

that's nice.

mine came around 1910.

My family is no better than any beaner who swore allegiance to the Constitution and became a citizen.

also nice. my family became citizens too. via the preferred LEGAL process.

My Panamanian wife is a citizen. She is an American.

well please tell mail order that rrb thanks her for following the law and becoming a citizen legally. that's all any of us have ever asked. you're welcome to come here. please just abide by the law.

now then, back to the ingraham quote:

"The America we know and love doesn't exist anymore. Massive demographic changes have been foisted on the American people, and they are changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don't like ... this is related to both illegal and legal immigration"

ms. ingraham is exactly correct.

it was in 1965 that murderin' ted kennedy awoke one morning with a perfectly evil and despicable brainstorm. that was when he decided to sponsor legislation that threw out the old immigration rulebook and effectively opened the borders to mass immigration in the hopes of flooding the country with new democrat voters.

since then we've basically been fucked.

THIS is what ingraham is referring to. she makes no mention of race. only the fact that we have made no legitimate effort to enforce our borders, and we have set no standard for admission to the US. nothing she said was factually incorrect or referred in any way to race. it takes a perpetually triggered and dishonest idiot to see that.

illegal immigration should be stopped dead in its tracks, period.

legal immigration should go back to the rules of the early 20th century. are you ill? can you support yourself? what do you bring to the table in terms of knowledge, skills, etc. that would benefit America?

getting accepted into our country should be at least as difficult and demanding as getting accepted to a decent 4-year college, alky.

look, i get the fact that you guys are absolutely fucking desperate for a fresh pack of democrat voters. truly i do. but that's your problem, and folks like me and ms. ingraham are loathe to let you make it OUR problem.

come here legally, obey the law, and show up with a marketable skill. NOT an application for welfare benefits. that's all we ask, alky. and that ain't asking a lot.

My earliest relative came from Germany to the North American British colony in 1759. Ingram seems to believe that if you are not of white, European in descent you are causing the "changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don't like." Welcome to the country of Trump. Another example of trump chumps trying to clarify a racist remark....and the sycophants will slurp it up and never utter a word about supporting their nazi lover and liar in chief....so sad how low they will go!!! Another POS righty trying to correct the record...too funny!!

Fox News host Laura Ingraham defended her controversial anti-immigrant comments on Thursday and disavowed the white nationalists and “one racist freak” who endorsed those remarks.

Although Ingraham didn’t name the individual, she was likely referring to former KKK leader David Duke, who tweeted (and then deleted) praise for her comments in which she lamented the “massive demographic changes” caused by immigration and said “in some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore.”

Ingraham said:

“I want to start tonight by addressing my commentary at the top of last night’s show. A message to those who are distorting my views, including all white nationalists and especially one racist freak whose name I will not even mention. You do not have my support. You don’t represent my views and you are antithetical to the beliefs I hold dear.”
Then, Ingraham defended her Wednesday night monologue in which she complained of “changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don’t like” and blamed “both illegal and, in some cases, legal immigration.”

C.H. Truth said...

Current federal policy automatically adds about one million new legal immigrants each year giving all of them lifetime work visas. Which is closest to the number of lifetime immigrant work visas the government should be adding each year -- none, 250,000, half a million, one million, one and a half million, two million, or more than two million?

22% None
23% 250,000
15% Half a million
15% One Million
4% One-and-a-half million
3% Two million
5% More than two million
14% Not sure

(60% said 500,000 or less)
(27% said one million or more)

If Congress decides to pass a bill to give young-adult ILLEGAL immigrants lifetime work permits and a path to citizenship, should the bill allow illegal immigrants to petition to obtain lifetime work permits for their extended families, or should the bill include an end to Chain Migration of extended families?

32% Allow work permits for extended families
57% Include an end to Chain Migration of extended families
12% Not sure

https://www.numbersusa.com/blog/poll-most-voters-agree-trump-end-chain-migration-reduce-overall-immigration

There are more polls out there Roger that echo these sentiments. These polls have nothing to do with White supremacy or racism or anything other than the fact that people are simply NOT in favor of expanding immigration. People don't want to eliminate it. They believe that it inherently is a good thing that makes a stronger country IF IT IS DONE RIGHT.

But nobody other than complete dolts believes that allowing MS13 gang members to haul drugs, guns, and human slaves over the borders is something that makes our country stronger. Are you a dolt Roger?

So I ask you again.

Why is YOUR MINORITY OPINION more important than the majority opinion of the American citizenship? Why do you believe that it is YOUR RIGHT to tell the rest of the country what is good for them?

Why Roger?

The Trump economy is destroying the Obama coalition

While Democrats and their wingmen in the media are falling over themselves to make superstars out of shiny new socialists such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib, the unapologetic capitalist in the White House is achieving something much more monumental. He’s delivering a booming economy that is bringing increased prosperity, opportunity and freedom to every demographic group. That, in turn, is generating growing support for him and his policies, including, most significantly, from constituencies critical to the Democratic Party.

Do you not agree with this assessment?

I believe that there are plenty of Democrats who hate the border control and want to eliminate ICE.

Do you not agree with this assessment?

Of course border patrol and ICE are specifically those who are fighting to keep MS13 gang members, other drug, gun, and human trafficker out of the country. But if you favor increasing border patrol, ICE, and overall border security...

What do you call that person, Roger?

Yeah... A racist!!

So you cannot have it both ways. If you demand that it's racist to want border security. Then you cannot ALSO suggest that you are for border security yourself.
